Unable to sync ___'s ipod. An unknown error occurred (-69)

Greetings, all. I run Windows XP and the new version of itunes. My problem is this: when I sync my ipod, it will start to sync like it is supposed to, then it will periodocally freeze up. It will give me an error message to the effect "could not sync __'s ipod. An unknown error occurred (-69)". I can usually resolve it by unplugging the ipod and plugging it back in. If uploading 30 or 40 songs, sometimes I will have to do this 3 or 4 times, and it is a pain in the neck. Both of my daughters have ipods plugged into the same computer, and as far as I know, this has never happened to either one of theirs. Any ideas?

Try less music and see if it works.
I'm having the same problem with an Ipod nano. Call tech support and they said that it might be a song that the ipod can't copy. I don't think that's true. Because when I restore it after that it loads the music but if you try to add songs after you unplug it and use it the error comes back. Can someone help with this????

Try my script FindTracks. Select a few of the missing files to start with then run the script. Choose No at the first prompt so that you can check how it works track by track, then confirm or edit the location of the media folder where your files are. Once you are happy with how it behaves let it process larger numbers of tracks automatically.

    Hi msclaude,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  I'm not sure from your post what steps you have tried, but it sounds like you may need to use recovery mode to address the issue with your unresponsive iPod touch.

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
You can put your iOS device into recovery mode, then restore it using iTunes.
    Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.Get more help
Learn what to do if you don't see your device in iTunes for OS X, or in iTunes for Windows.
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
I hope this information helps ....

  • IPod cannot be synced to computer. An unknown error occured (-50)

When i connect my iPod (30gb Video), the music automatically syncs. But then i get an error code, saying "The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (-50)"
However, the music still syncs to the iPod.
So i just wanted to know, if anybody knows what this is, and what i can do to stop this appearing.
    Thank You.

The only thing that comes to mind is some file with a file name the iPod's FAT32 format doesn't like. For example, I have seen this type of error when syncing photos and having certain characters in the file name of the photo that seem ok under more modern disk formats but the iPod's Fat32 doesn't care for.

  • IPad won't sync to PC iTunes. Unknown error occurred (-50)

I just got a new iPad 2 about a week ago, the first time I tried syncing it, everything worked. However after I've started using it, everytime i try to sync on iTunes again an error message appears: "the iPad "ipad's name" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred. (-50)"
I use a PC, so I don't have iPhoto or anything like that.
    Please help!!

Have you the latest version of iTunes? Failing that, try Reseting your iPad - hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together for 15 seconds.

  • Unable to check for available downloads. an unknown error occured (2020)

i had bought the itouch update yesterday and i cant download it. whats going on? all i get when i hit download is error 2020. what is that

I was having this problem also after trying to download the 3.1.2 software update. I am unable to download that or anything else for that matter to include downloads that were working fine before that. I have seen a bunch of people that have this exact same problem. I've seen no solution for Apple, but I did find this link http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/07/12/iphone-3g-and-os-20-bricked-with-activa tion-unknown-error-9838-and-4-or-unavailable-fix-by-waiting/
It says this was a problem before...basically, it is Apple unable to handle all the requests and that the solution is to just wait. I don't like this. I think apple support needs to get off their collective buts and fix this.

  • Unable to check for available downloads. an unknown error occurred 3036

Keep getting this error when check for available downloads... pls Help!!!

I had the same problem... but because it was happening on all four of my computers, they couldn't blame just one device. Contact iTunes support:
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/contact/itunes/phone_contacts/
Tell them that someone else with the same problem got it solved when they (iTunes) found two "unknown downloads" that were clogging my connection to iTunes. Once they deleted those files, my uploading of apps and downloading of subscription episodes resumed.
