Unable to sync songs purchased on old id

I have a new ipod touch, and when I sync it i get a message telling me 25+ songs cannot be synced because I am not authorized on this computer.  Apparently these songs were purchased on an old apple id associated with an old email which is no longer active, therefore I cannot reset the password and I do not know what it used to be.  How can I retrieve these songs?  Apparently this is a huge problem for windows users.  Think Apple would fix this.

I have a similar problem - I just bought the iPod Touch but have an old iPod Classic with thousands of songs on it. I laso have a new Windows laptop and no access to the original Apple iTunes account... having just spent hours getting ever frustrated to find i cannot simply put my old stuff on the Touch is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. APPLE take note. I thought they would have sorted this by now. I SHOULD be able to put and play my music when and where I like.
Anyway I found this ... good luck.

  • Unable to sync songs purchased on itunes

I have purchased a number of songs from the itune store but when I attach my wife's ipod to the computer it gives me a message that says: "Some of the items in the itunes library, were not copied to the ipod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer".
While I do have a new computer, I don't understand this message because I purchased and downloaded the songs directly onto this new computer.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks

try playing one of the songs for a few seconds in iTunes. do you get asked to authorise?
if so, and if you do, do the songs transfer next time you sync?

  • Unable to sync newly purchased songs to my ipod nano

I have a new computer running Windows7 with Itunes and am unable to sync newly purchased songs to my shuffle device. I can, however, sync purchased songs from my Ipod shuffle to my computer.

In iTunes 11 use the View menu to show the Sidebar or left column. Select your phone there. Then the familiar row of tabs will appear to the right. Select Music, scroll down to add what you want then scroll to the bottom to find Apply or Sync.

  • I am unable to sync songs to my iphone

I am unable to sync songs to my iphone.

Assuming you aren't manually managing your music in iTunes, check the following:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings you have checked "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library you have checked all the songs you want to sync to your phone
There are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
You have authorized your computer for all Apple IDs for purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
You have checked "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings
When everything looks correct sync your phone.

  • HELP: iTunes 6 unable to sync songs with ipod - hangs freezes crashes

    Hi,
This has been posted before, but a search of 500 messages have turned up no solutions. Anyone who has any idea of a solution please help.
    PROBLEM:
iTunes 6 and ipod 5th gen unable to sync songs or manually move more than 50 songs at a time to ipod. It hangs / freezes / crashes when updating the ipod. It will stop at 50 songs, 100 songs, sometimes even 2200 songs - out of 8000.
The "Beachball of death" comes on, and there is no way to force quit or stop the now frozen update. The only thing that gets a response is pulling the ipod from the dock or powering the computer down manually.
    TRIED:
    1. Repair permissions
    2. Update ipod with latest ipod update software
    3. Restore ipod " " " " '
    4. Used Activity Monitor to see where program hangs - no added info, it will stop randomly at different songs, and next time around it will pick another son to hang / freeze at
    5. uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible" in Energy Preferences pane
I am at my wits end with this..... will try anything.... even Voodoo at this point as long as you tell me it worked for you!
Anyone ever solved this long standing problem (which seems to be present with iTunes 7 as well) ?
    Thanks !

  • Unable to sync songs tagged as 'Explicit' to my iPhone.

I am unable to sync songs tagged as 'Explicit' to my iPhone. All other songs sync fine.

Do you have Restrictions turned on on your phone? If so, then under "Allowed Content" you need to make sure that you have the "Explicit" option turned on for Music and Podcasts.

  • Error message:  Cannot sync songs purchased in iTunes to iTouch because computer is not authorized.  I go in and authorize computer (only computer I have ever used for iTunes), seems to be successful.  Then I try to sync again and it gives same error mesg

It just goes in a circle.  This computer not authorized to sync purchased songs to iTouch.  Follow directions to authorize computer, seems successful.  Sync again and it comes up with the same error message....this computer not authorized to sync iTune purchases to iTouch.  I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized and it didn't make a difference.  I updated and restored to factory settings.  Still same error message.  I have had this problem the last 2 times I have synced.  Worked previously.  Any ideas??

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

  • Can't play songs purchased under old AOL account after upgrade to Apple ID

I guess I've been abandoned by the iTunesStoreSupport. They basically told me what caused my problem and now will not return any of my emails.
This message is mostly to inform anyone who "upgrades" an old AOL iTunes account to an Apple ID to be sure to use the same credit card for the new Apple account that you used for your AOL account.
About 2 years ago I "upgraded" my AOL iTunes Store account to be an APPLE ID. When I did that, I used a different credit card for my Apple ID than I had been using for my old AOL account. Big mistake. At the time I had no idea it would cause problems later. I don't remember seeing anything at all warning me about the importance of that at the time. Now, according to Shwetha at iTunesStoreSupport it is "important to use the same credit card for a successful conversion".
Everything worked fine with iTunes for the past 2 years, but a month ago I upgraded my hard drive in my computer and promptly recycled my old hard drive. Another mistake on my part.
A few days later when I went to play a song purchased under the old AOL account I got stuck in that endless loop where I get the prompt "This computer is not authorized to play __. Would you like to authorize it?" Then it asks me to Upgrade my AOL account, but I already did that 2 years ago. I went ahead and attempted to upgrade the AOL account again, but I was still stuck in the endless loop. (note: I did successfully authorize the computer for my Apple ID with no problems.)
I followed every step in the Troubleshooting Guide "support.apple.com/kb/TS1389" including the step where I delete the SC Info folder, but I was still stuck in that endless loop of authorizing / deauthorizing.
Shwetha was very professional and did work with me pretty quickly through 3 rounds of emails and various troubleshooting attempts. But as soon as we realized that I had used a different credit card when upgrading the AOL account to an Apple account and that the conversion was not successful, they stopped replying to my emails. I guess I'm a lost cause.

I repeat here a post I made elsewhere: I hope that it helps you, and, if it does, please post the info elsewhere.
You can get this problem solved!
I encountered this problem yesterday, when I tried to play some songs in my ITunes library on a new computer; this is an ITunes library that I had moved from my old computer.
I called Apple Support, and the excellent Tech person began looking into the problem.
Meanwhile, while I was waiting for him, I Googled the problem (which I should have done first): lots and lots of people (I discovered) have bumped into this same frustrating problem.
Yes: the problem arises when you move to a new computer with an ITunes library that includes songs you bought, way back when, using an AOL ID.
Apple Support contacted ITunes. And ITunes tracked down my AOL account, and then issued me (that is, me and Apple Support) a new Apple ID. There are two or three additional steps; they are not hard, but you need the combo of help from Apple Support and ITunes. The key thing is getting the new Apple ID, which you must have, and which, once it has done its work, you then can ignore..
I can now listen to everything--and I am signed in to ITunes using my current, usual Apple ID.
Note: All of this would be easier and simpler for us if we could actually speak to someone at ITunes; the only way we can get to a "live" person there is by contacting someone at Apple Support.

  • Unable to sync iTunes purchases to IOS devices from Macbook

So Apple sells ebooks and audio books through iTunes to people on their Macbooks. RIght? And when you go to sync these purchases to the Apple IOS devices you are told that you can not sync them to the Apple IOS device without erasing all of the rest of your music library on the same IOS device. Right?
I have to stop right here because thoughts of "class action",  of feeling having been defruaded, of having been taken for a ride. If I had nown before I bought my iPhone 4s that I would have to purchase all kinds of third party help to make it work only seemingly correct I would have never bought one. If I knew that when Jobs died this was going to happen I would have sold my Macbook right then and there. Tsk Tsk Tsk Mr Cook. So is Apple going to drive 10 hours from the nearest Apple Store to me and hand me a new Macbook without all of the bugs? Will that make me happy? No.

"So Apple sells ebooks and audio books through iTunes to people on their Macbooks. RIght?"
    Yes.
"And when you go to sync these purchases to the Apple IOS devices you are told that you can not sync them to the Apple IOS device without erasing all of the rest of your music library on the same IOS device. Right?"
    No.  Not right.

  • Ipod unable to sync songs from itunes store

So I just bought a new MacBook with Mac OS X 10.6.3.. I have transferred my itunes library from my old ibook and all the songs are there. I just tried syncing my ipod, authorized my 2 accounts from itunes, and all but 56 songs were synced. I get an error message saying "Some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to the ipod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer".. I go to the store menu and authorize both of my known accounts and i get a message saying "these accounts are already authorized".. The only thing I can think of is that my roommate bought songs on itunes with her account, so I asked her for her username and password but it says the username/ password were entered incorrectly. I have tried multiple times and i know im entering her name and password correctly... Is there any other way to get these 56 songs to sync to my ipod? Its just annoying me! Please help!!

if you select one of those tunes in iTunes, right-click and +get info+, and check the summary pane, you will be shown who purchased the track and the account used. is that different from the accounts you authorized iTunes for ?
if not, try the suggestions click here.
