Unable to target tracks

in cs6 I can drag the track source indicator to Audio 1, 2, 3 though I can't drag to audio 4,5, or 6. Why is this?

Good to know someone else is able to reproduce this, if this is actually a bug it's a major one. I just tried clearing my prerferences etc.. and it still keeps acting the exact same way. It's looking like this is probably a bug. Hopefully someone who uses
that feature a lot can let us know if it's always worked like this or not, but surely it hasn't because that would be strange.
Just realized I accidently posted my original response in the wrong thread Bill was totally correct and I was wrong, two of the threads were named very similarly which somehow I ended up switching tabs and ending up in the wrong thread with my response I meant to respond to this thread however it appears both me and Steven have stumbled upon a legitimate bug.

Unable to change tracks on my stereo after upgrading to iOS 6

After upgrading to iOS 6 yesterday I've noticed a problem playing my music through Bluetooth on my Alpine car stereo. It still plays but I am unable to change tracks with the stereo, I have to manually do it on my iPhone. This is a problem, any ideas?

I spoke to a rep at Alpine today. They are aware that there are major issues with the release of iOS 6 and ALL their products. The said they will have to do a firmware update and he had no idea when that would be available.
Not good as I bought a new unit yesterday ! It workd great driving home and this morning no iPhone interface would function properly. I updated my OS last night. And I cannot go back to OS 5 I am told by Apple people.
I love Apple products but I must say I do not like their "we know best" attitude when it comes to deciding what OS I should run on my iPhone. I would much rather have OS 5 and let my iPhone work with my stereo.
Hopefully this firmware update will not take too long but I know there is no way it will be right away. The Alpine rep said his phone started ringing off the hook at 8 am from Alpine techs all over the country !
So clearly this was news to them.

Overlay edit erases other target tracks

Why is it when I do an overlay edit and I happen to have some other target tracks on it will erase those other tracks?
Let me give you an example: I am adding a 1 second sound effect to audio track 5. If I happen to have any audio audio or video target tracks on, whatever is on those tracks will be deleted for 1 second.
It means that everytime I do an overlay edit, I have to make sure to first turn off all audio and video target tracks to ensure that existing material won't be erased, then turn on the target track(s) I need. Yes I made a shortkey for that, but honestly, kinda clunky.
This is only for overlay editing, I am aware of the value of being able to select which tracks to remove when doing a lift or extraction.
Why in the world could anyone want this function?

Yes I know, that is really the optimum edting workflow for Prpro. Occassionally I like it, other times I find it clunky.
For former Avid/FCP guys like me, it's hard to adjust. Especially since the workflow I am accustomed to is so tantalizing close to being optimum in PrPro.
Here is what I would like in target track editing, which I will add to a feature request:
1. Get rid of this crazy erase during overlay function. Maybe the engineers lumped in with selective track when lifting, I don't know, but it serves no function except create panic, for me anyway, when I find chunks of my edit accidently deleted because I wasn't watching like a hawk which tracks I had on everytime I did an overlay.
2. We have shortkeys for track toggling, hallelujah, I couldn't live with out it, especially since much of my editing is cutting & pasting between sequences. BUT we need shortkeys for the actual video and audio selection so that when working with 10 tracks of audio I don't have to scroll down to find the track where the audio selector (is that what it's called?) is hiding and take it to the track I actually want the audio to be on.
3. I don't know about windows, but on a mac I have to use the slider to go up and down tracks. Boy, I would love to be able to scroll up and down the tracks with a mouse track wheel just I like I can do when I am looking for shots in a bin or scrolling on the web. That may sound nitpicky, but it would make editing on PrPro an even more enjoyable experience than it already is.

CS6-Drag clip audio target track issue

CS6 on a mac. Mono audio. Preferences and sequence set for mono. Working with XDCAM EX. When dragging a clip to V2 in the timeline the audio hits A2 and A3 rather than A3 and A4. Even when target tracks are for V2 A3-A4. When usuing overwrite shortcut audio goes to A3-A4 as it should but if I drag the same clip to V2 audio goes to A2 and A3. If I drag the clip to V3 audio goes to A3 and A4. I don't drag that much but would like to every so often. I'm made the move from FCP so maybe I'm missing something. Any ideas out there?

Dragging will match tracks for video and audio, no way around that. Only shortcuts allow you to split them.

Some advice about target tracks

Still kind of a Premiere noob, I'm finding the target track procedure to be overly complicated - so maybe I'm missing something obvious. Correct me if I'm wrong: To do a 3-point overwrite edit from the viewer to the timeline, the target track has to be selected AND the track has to be highlighted. If an extra track is highlighted, the overwrite edit will simply delete all media in the selected track even if that track has not been targeted. If I'm putting a mono audio track onto the timeline and have followed all of the procedures BUT a stereo track (which supposedly can't be targeted and is therefore presumably inert) is still highlighted above my mono track, the overwrite will place the audio on the highest mono track below the selected stereo track even if I've targeted and highlighted the track I want the audio on.
I'm trying to avoid an endless world of dragging from the viewer, and the efficiency of keeping my hands on the keyboard as much as possible which seems pointless if I'm going to have to select and target and deselect a bunch of tracks every time I want to do something as simple as a copy/paste onto the same track.
So am I doing something wrong here?

You can target tracks with keyboard shortcuts. By default, there aren't keyboard shortcuts associated with these commands, but you can edit the keyboard shortcuts and assign keystrokes to Toggle Target Video 1, Toggle Target Audio 1, Toggle Target Video 2, Toggle Target Audio 2,and so on.

ITunes U - Unable to delete tracks

I noticed yesterday that I am unable to delete tracks from our public Emory iTunes U site. I go to "upload and manage files", check the two desired deletions, choose "delete files", ok and nothing happens. Similarly, in our private, authenticated site, some tracks are uploading twice and when I go to delete the duplicate, both are deleted.

Before deleting duplicate tracks, do Get Info and look at Summary for both songs. Check the file path to determine if both library entries share the same or different files. .../song.mp3 and .../song 1.mp3 would indicate TWO files (in the same folder) and it would be safe to delete the song from the library and delete the file.
Sometime two library entries share the same file. In this case only delete the song from the library, do not delete the file.
I've never worked with a public library like you're describing. Maybe your account does not have sufficient privileges to delete songs?

Unable to edit track info in iTunes on a Mac Air

I recently switched from a windows PC to a Mac Air. All my music was organizaed on an external hard drive. I have now imported the music in to my iTunes on my Mac Air. I am unable to edit individual track info when I use "Get Info". I tried to look up for permissions on the particular folder and found that they are all set as "Read Only".
Any help in this matter is appreciated.

Go to your Music (media) folder. The one that holds the actual files.
Click it and press Cmd+I or right click and select "Get Info"
In the Info pane, click the lock to change permissions:
You'll need to tnter your password to make any chnages.
Set ALL permissions to Read & Write
Click the Gear and select "Apply to enclosed items..."
Then click "OK" when asked if you're sure.
Let it apply to everything and THEN try editing the track oinfo.

Unable to add tracks to iTunes 8 (mac os x 10.5.7)

I'm unable to add some tracks to iTunes.
I got a playlist, when I drag the tracks to it iTunes will not add them and will not give an alert message.
I saw only previous solutions for PC users that offers a tag remover applications but did not say any for mac (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7818873).
If the same issue, why it wasn't fix in this version?

Ah, these are all files from the same place? Can you tell me anything more about them? Where are these files located? On a separate drive? Have you tried to do "Get Info" on them in Finder? How did your friend copy them? And where from? And you are sure they are MP3 and not WMA ?
(It could after all be the problem mentioned in that other thread - ID3 tags. This would not be a bug, merely an incompatibility. You could ask your friend to copy them again, but this time as simple MP3s with no tags).

Unable to play tracks on my ipod.

Hi Guys,
My ipod classic will not play certain tracks. It seems I can select tracks from albums ok and they will play, but when I select an artist where there is just one song, I press play but the counter stays at zero, the track doesn't play and then my ipod returns to the previous screen with the name of the song.
I have tried resetting it but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm experiencing that issue in this very moment, and it's killing me! I believe that I by an accident have dropped it a couple of days ago, and my iPod sounds like everytime it tries to play the songs it's crashing. I then tried to lay down some lyrics on the specific songs and paused them so that I could see the lyrics, but as I tried that it said lyrics were found, but unable to read it or something like that. I think we need to send in our iPods, hope you have an assurance.

Unable to play tracks on I tunes

When I go into my I Tunes and click on an Album/Track and try to play it, a window pops up stating " The song'............' could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it? If I click on 'Locate It' nothing is found! The only tracks I can play are those that I have recently uploaded from CD's into I tunes and that have not yet been synced with my I Pod Classic.
My I tunes library is stored on an external hard drive and I have not upgraded my I tones software to the latest version since originally installing I tunes some years ago

Uninstalling reader 9.1.3 failure; installation failure reader 10.1.1with unable to contact tracker

I would like to update to adobe reader 10.1.1 and when I attempted download/install with Internet Explorer it produced: unable to contact trackers. The it opened another web page and produced:

When I go to control panel> add remove programs: adobe reader 9.1.3 is 138 MB and when I click on remove it produces: The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package.

Currently when I read or download PDF files they are opened properly with Adobe reader. It is the goal to eliminate the old version and install the new version.

I tired the download/install with another browser (Safari) and it went through initializing, downloading, and installing then Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Reader X (10.1.1) then Gathering required information then Time remaining 0 secs with all blue squares. It then produced One of the installations requires a reboot. Do you wish to perform it now. I will choose yes and have it reboot.
What happened with the attempted intall with Internet Explorer that it failed. If Adobe Reader X installs with Safari will the PDF files opened with this browser use Adobe Reader X and will the PDF files opened with Internet Explorer use Adobe Reader 9.1.3? I would like to have just one version of Adobe Reader and not take up the hard drive space.
I will reboot now and see what happens. Please comment on what to do if the installation fails for Adobe Reader X and please comment on how to uninstall Adobe Reader 9.1.3 too in addition to any other comments about the installation problem.

I was able to solve this problem with the inability to uninstall adobe reader 9.1.3 and this program is now uninstalled by viewing control panel > add remove programs.
It happened by luck by using a battery of Microsoft Fix its. To tune up my computer I ran one fix it after another and then found one that Troubleshoots installation and uninstallition problems.

Unable to get track names for new album itunes 11.1.5

Hi All,
I have 2 computers running Mavericks
Both have the same version iTunes 11.1.5
On some imported albums I have not got the track names.
On one computer I can right click on the track and 'Get Track Names'+'Get album artworks' and it works, but on the other I do this and it does not.
Any thoughts on why one computer can do this and the other does not?
Both are connected to the internet and can connect to the itunes store.

It may simply be that the CD you are trying to import is not in the CD track name database.

Unable to join tracks using itunes 11.1.5.5

Used to be able to select cd tracks and join them using the "option" drop-down. Now that drop-down only shows "get track names" & "submit CD track names". Any solutions known? Started about a week ago.

Huh? Are you sure?
You cannot highlight a column - if you click on a column, it sorts by that column. Also, the column to the left of the name is a tick-box column, which cannot be sorted or highlighted.
However, the column to the left of that, the one with the numbers in it, as shown in my screenshots, is the track number. If you have clicked on it, you will have reversed the track order and Join CD Tracks will not be available. Look:
But if the number column is clicked again, putting the songs into the correct order, then the Join CD Tracks is there - as explained in my previous post:
Note the direction of the arrow in the number column in each shot.

Unable to import tracks

Hi, I hope someone can help me with my problem. I was given an IPod Nano for my birthday and have installed the software. We already had one version of I Tunes on the PC as my partner has an IPod, and has never had any problem. When I place a cd into the disk drive the browse icon won't change to import. All the documentation tells me how easy importing is. The only way around it I have found is to go through 'file', 'import' then click on each track. For some reason when I do this I get an error message for some of the tracks (always including track 9) that I cannot import it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software with no joy, and downloaded the update. I've run the diagnostic as follows:
