Unable to text from iPad mini

Keeps saying text message not sent when I send a message from my mini iPad

Remember your iPad is not a cellular telephone.  It cannot send or receive SMS text messages.  It only sends and receives iMessages, which go to/from other Apple equipment users who are also connected by WiFi (and occasionally a cellular phone network that accepts iMessage).

  • Is there an app for video playback on external screen from ipad mini which avoids mirroring?

I want to play fullscreen video from ipad mini to external screens with a clean look and without without showing playback controls etc. I need to be able to play, pause, change the order of video tracks without affecting the external display as it's for playback of video backing tracks for a music show.
Does anybody know of any apps which do this? I'm looking at Portfolio for iPad at the moment which looks promising.

    No.

Is there a key for entering text on ipad mini for the schwa symbol?

    You're welcome.
It is possible there is an app containing a phonetic keyboard in the app store (or not). I haven't had use for one, so have never checked. Using it would require some copy and past on your part. But it might worth a search.
Oh, just to be clear (should have googled and not trusted my aging memory) you're basically looking for an upside-down "e", right?

  • I am unable to update my ipad mini to the new IOS8,

Please could someone help, what can i do.  i am unable to update my ipad mini to the new IOS8

Lacking any specific information, I'll just give you general information for backing up your data and resetting your iPad to its factory default condition, which isn't a bad idea for anyone, no matter what they are doing or what problems they may have - or not have. The first links are for backups and their information. Do an iTunes backup, as it's more complete. Then the last link is for using your iTunes program to do the factory default reset.

how do I imput photos and videos from ipad mini to computer - help

You don't need to double post with the same question.
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • My daughter is traveling from US to Spain next week.  Can she text from Ipad for free?

My daughter is traveling from US to Spain next week.  Can she text from Ipad for free?

If her iPad is running iOS 5 with iMessage registered and enabled, she can exchange iMessages with a Mac running Lion with the new Messages BETA app for a Mac running Lion, and with other iOS devices running iOS 5 with iMessage registered and enabled. She can do this when her iPad is connected to an available wi-fi network.

  • Mistakenenly Synched from Ipad mini to PC, when I wanted to TRANSFER

I made several movies using imovie on the ipadmini.   The imovies use both still photos AND mini videos taken with either the iphone or the ipad mini.
I wanted to put the finished  imovies  on my pc to optimize playback with quicktime. Mistakenly, instead of transferring photos/movies from ipad mini onto PC, I connected with Itunes on my PC, and chose the Sync option.  Aaaargh.  It put a bunch of photos onto the Ipad mini I had taken OFF, prior to making the movies.   Then, the worst part is,  the completed imovie videos on the Ipad mini, are MISSING the video clips in the imovie.  It's like they disapperaed when I did the Sync.
Where are the missing video clips?  On my computer?  On I cloud???  How do I find out?  In the best case scenario, I would like to "find" the stuff that got "lost" when I synched the folder on the computer to the ipad mini,  and have my IMovies restored to how they were before.
    Please help!

Okay, I figured out that Windows has "AutoPlay" settings which can automatically download photos and videos from a newly connected device, such as an iPad Mini.  I think I could open it in Windows Explorer too that way but the auto download solved my problem.

  • How do I print from iPad mini?

How do I print from IPad mini?

    Hi Bowieessence,
I understand you have a Deskjet 3054A and would like to use it to AirPrint with your iPad mini. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this!
I will recommend that you have a look at this How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network document and it will give a couple troubleshooting steps in the last few questions. For the most part you just need to make sure both the iPad and the printer are on the same wireless network.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Recover deleted text from ipad

Does anyone know ho to Recover a  deleted text from ipad

It's not possible to recover a deleted text unless the text existed on the device the last time it was backed up.
If that is the case, restore the device from the backup... where the device is backed up is irrelevant.

  • Unable to SMS text on Ipad Mini - Genius bar unable to solve

I am unable to send or recieve SMS text this week to my contacts without Iphones-> imessage won't allow. I have an Ipad mini on AT&T service that has worked fine x 2 years until last week. Apple store Genius bar (2 techs worked on this problem) suggested I buy a new Ipad when they could not solve the problem. This is very frustrating, everything else works fine.

What model cell phone do you have?
Not that it really matters, because Apple jsut recently added the "Continuity" feature in iOS 8, which means that your iPad or iPod Touch (or Apple Mac) can receive & send text messages through your iPhone, but this capability wasn't available from Apple prior to iOS 8. There are plenty of third party apps which wil you your device's data connection to sent and receive messages via their servers with a SMS gateway they host. That would have been the only way you could have sent SMS messages using your iPad prior to iOS 8.
If you have an iPhone and iOS 8 on both your iPhone and iPad, then you would need both devices to be connected to the same wifi network, and to be logged in using the same AppleID. When you do that login, it will ask you if you want to allow the iPad to send/receive text messages on behalf of the iPhone. I use this feature quite regularly.

  • Unable to text from ipad2 to another ipad2

I Am unable to send a text message to my husband who is also using the same phone, ipad2 and service provider as mine. We both have iPhone 5s with AT&T data, Internet etc.  When I try to send him a text from my iPad i cant send, his info stays red and the send button never engages to submit.

I too have this problem with my IPad 3rd generation.  After four hours this morning, 2 with Apple and 2 with my cellular carrier and Apple again this is what I've been told by a third tier Apple technician.  IOS 8 does not let you IMessage on IPad unless you are sending an IMessage to someone with an Apple device.  I tried texting on my IPad this morning to business associates that I was able to IMessage with IOS 7 and no can do because they have Androids.  I can IMessage to some family members and my husband because they have Apple products, but friends and other family members who have Androids, no can do.  The gentlemen I spoke with indicated that the new IPad coming out in mid-October will have IMessage again for Android users and hopefully, now that's hopefully, an update will follow for the rest of us.  Time will tell.  I'm really bummed about this.  I was also told that this can be fixed by using a third party program, but I don't like third party programs.  My experience has been they stop working or don't work at all.

  • Can't send sms from ipad mini

can't send sms from ipad mini

Correct; your iPad mini is not a cellular telephone.
You can send and receive iMessages to/from other Apple devices, but you cannot send or receive text messages.
    From the Manual:
Using the Messages app and the built-in iMessage service, you can send unlimited text messages over Wi-Fi or cellular data connections to other iOS and OS X Mountain Lion users. Messages
can include photos, videos, and other info. You can see when other people are typing, and notify them when you’ve read their messages. iMessages are displayed on all of your iOS devices logged in to the same account, so you can start a conversation on one of your devices, and continue it on another device. iMessages are encrypted for security.
