Unable to text or call

I am in France. My pay monthly covers texts and calls but I can do neither (although I can receive both). I have paid for an Internet add-on and that works. I think outgoing calls/texts are barred so cannot call 150 to speak to EE. Any help/advice gratefully received

Did you activate roaming before going abroad?
Click on EE & ME and where it says My Account, click on Devices and Usage and enable it from there, cllick on EE & ME and where it says travel and shopping click on using phone abroad.

I have an iPhone 4S and I can't make outgoing calls, texts or receive any texts or calls.

Hi my Iphone 4S today wasn't able to make calls or send texts. When trying to dial it wouldn't give back a ring tone despite me having full bars. I turned the phone off and back on hoping to resolve the call service. It didn't work. At that point I called AT&T and they said I should have service. I checked with others with Iphones and they all were working so I know for a fact it isn't AT&T. I then decided to reset the entire phone to its original state. After that I hooked it up to Itunes and put my backup file back on. At this point the phone began to work again but then two hours later it did the same exact thing and I'm unable to text or call. I don't want to keep reseting it and reinstalling my backup as it is time consuming and a chore for such a short amount of time. I read some other posts and they blame 5.0.1 for the problem. I don't know if there is any facts to those posts. Does anyone know if Apple has come out and said that the new update has bugs? Or could it be that my phone is defective? I appreciate all of your help.

You use Restore to get the latest firmware build, not the Update button. You can only use the Update button, if there is an iOS update, say iOS 5.1.

Unable to send or receive texts and calls

For nearly two weeks I've been unable to send or receive texts and calls I have tried resetting my phone deleting existing call / text convos and taking the sim out of my phone 4g internet still works but nothing else I'm using an iPhone 6. Why can't I send or receive anything?

Very sorry this is happening,
Have you tried the SIM in a different phone?
Also have you tried a network reset?
Note: Resetting the network settings will clear all WiFi passwords and refresh device network connections.
From the home screen, tap Settings.
Scroll down to, then tap General.
Scroll down to, then tap Reset.
Tap Reset Network Settings.
Tap Reset Network Settings to confirm.
Note: If a security code is enabled, this will need to be entered between steps 4 and 5.

I just upgraded my iPhone4s to iOS7 and now I am unable to make phone calls and send/receive text messages. Network signal indicator on the upper left side of the display shows hollow circles instead of full circles. Any idea how to fix the problem?

I checked with my colleagues in the office who use the same network and theirs work just fine on iOS7. Any idea how to fix the problem?

I have also called my service provider and my service remains active in the network. I tried removing and reinserting my SIM but to no avail.

my mom and I both have the iphone 4 and neither one of us are able to send or recieve messages or phone calls, the texts works very spuratically but this is extremely annoying! I need my phone for work reasons and if I am not able to recieve the calls how am I supposed to know if I am being called into work or not?! The techs keep telling us that it has to be the phone but with it being two different phones, how is that possible? Are we the only ones have this problem or is there a network outage somewhere here in Colorado that is affecting us? This needs to get fixed ASAP seeing as how I also had an emergency last night and could not place a call!

Southern California. Texts working OK, but no calls in or out. The cell phones all get "unable to complete"; when calling them from landlines there's either a fast busy or "not in service or disconnected." We don't use data so don't know about that.
The news said there was a big outage of data, both 3G and 4G, in many places across the country today, but that it was largely fixed by 2:30pm ET.

Sometimes and this is network dependant if they suspect the phone to be lost or stolen as in this case with change of Sim card and provider then the origonal network can and some will block the phone untill you have rang them and proven it's not the case or if you have bough this 2nd hand then the origonal seller may have stopped paying the contract bill and thus the phone is blocked

I thought that messenger could be used now to contact non Apple users too i.e. texting or calling?

I was given to understand that with Yosemite, we could now text and call Non Apple Users. Have tried messaging my son and alas it didn't work. Am I missing something?..

If you are unable to send SMS/MMS messages to non Apple phones, I would recommend double checking to verify that you have Continuity setup correctly on both the Mac and your Phone:
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS on your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac:
Update your iPhone to iOS 8.1 (when available).
Enable iMessage on your Mac and iOS devices.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on Text Message Forwarding.
Your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac will display a code you can enter on your iPhone to verify the SMS and MMS feature.

Can't Text or Call Out on iPhone 4S

Beginning five days ago, I started having issues with being unable to send text or call out. I have checked that iMessage is on, I have reset the phone several times, reset the network settings, turned cellular service off and back on, airplane mode on and off, bluetooth is off, wifi is off and do not disturb is off. I have roughly three bars for service. The phone periodically snaps out of it and allows texts to come through, allowing me to text and make calls, and suddenly it will not allow again. Is this a SIM card issue? Software/Firmware issue? I currently updated to 6.1 (10B142), but this issue was taking place two days before that and upgrading didn't solve the issue. How do I fix this issue? Is it a problem with the iPhone or a problem that Verizon can fix? Help!!

Still same issues I have tried all of these tips and it seems like I am getting worst results now my phone doesn't ring nor register any calls at all. As well as ,my text messages are not going through. I only been a customer for not even two months it seems like I may have made a mistake switching. Also when I am lucky enough to be able to send a call through the receipent says my phone is breaking up and they cannot hear me. So what is the resolution now...

No texting or calling due to "Network Problems."

I am currently unable to send or recieve texts and calls. I have tried everything I know to do. I have turned the phone off and back on, taken out the battery, did a soft reset, tried to call it from a different phone. NOTHING. I have never had any problems with phone service in my area, and am very frustrated already due to the problems the LG Cosmos Touch has already. If there is anything that anybody knows to do, please tell me. The only thing I haven't tried is a hard reset due to not wanting to lose everything.

My service just came back. I will put all contacts and photos back on my phone. Whether it was the reset or coincidence, I don't know. I just recieved a bunch of texts and was able to call voicemail. Once again, no further replies on this post are necessary.

Unable to make phone calls abroad

I am currently in France and am unable to make calls from my phone - I am able to send texts, receive texts and receive calls though. When trying to make a call it comes up call ended or the company is unable to connect the call.

Yes I have rebooted the device, tried removing sim and replacing sim, toggling the aeroplane mode on and off and turning data on and off also.

New iPhone 5 just started being unable to place/receive calls

My iPhone 5 just started being unable to place (says call failed) or receive calls. Cellular data works as do texts. Called ATT, can't figure it out on their end.

I just went to the Apple Store and their solution was to replace my phone.

I deleted a contact out of my iPhone 4S but when I go to send a message the contact appears although that individual is no longer in my address book. I deleted all text and call history pertaining to the deleted contact but still shows up.

Now here's the unique part. When I go to turn it back on, the apple loading screen pops up but it takes somewhere from 3-5 minutes for it to boot up. Then the lock screen with the time and whatnot shows up. From this point on, my iPhone has a chance to shut itself back down and I have to repeat the process over and over again. Most of the time the lock screen flashes and then goes straight to black (shut down) but sometimes I can make it a few menus before it shuts itself down.
The only way to keep the iPhone on is to plug it into a charger of any sort. I'm fairly certain it isn't a battery charge issue because this happens at any % of power and sometimes my iPhone can use up all of its charge and not have this happen while other times I can be at 90-100% and it could randomly shut itself down. What can I do in this situation if some has some solution to this problem please let me know on [email protected] Thanks!

Hello everyone, I'm in need of some major help with my IPhone 4S. I'm very confused and frusterated! My friend had originally purchased two IPhone 4S phones about two years ago. I know this because he decided to give me his second IPhone 4S that was no longer being used by the person who had it before, since I didn't have a phone and he had it on a two year contract. That two year contract ended months ago and he renewed it for another two years. Everything had been working pretty well except crappy reception at my house every now and then, since I live in the middle of nowhere. But where my problem comes in is, for the past few days I haven't been able to send or recieve texts or calls at all. It just keeps saying failed to send when I try to send a text, and it won't receive any texts. When I try to make a call, it goes to a couple different weird recording things trying to ask what type of call I'm making, or saying the connection can't be made. I can't recieve calls at all. I have no idea why this happened, it was really random, and I'm very frusterated. It always shows my phone having two or three bars and service, more than enough to do these things, but for some reason it's ike it's become disconnected. This type of thing happened a few weeks ago, but only for a few hours and then I started getting all my texts and whatnot and it went back to normal. But now it's lasted almost a week. I have Sprint and even when it shows me having 3G service and all bars, it won't send or recieve calls or texts. I tried resetting network settings, and that didn't change or fix anything. I've also tried shutting it off and turning it back on multiple times and the whole airplane mode on and off thing and NOTHING is working. If any of you could help, or offer suggestions, that'd be awesome. Much appreciated!

When a contact gets a new phone number, I delete the old and enter the new. Then when I text or call the old number shows up as a selection yet it's no longer under the contacts info.

When a contact gets a new phone number, I delete the old number and enter the new number. When I try to text or call, both the old a new numbers. One up as a selection choice, even though the old number is gone from the contact.

That's normal behavior as the old one will remain in the memory cache for a while until it's eventually overwritten. If it's particularly bothersome to you, you can restore your phone as NEW and this will empty the cache.
