The Nikon Transfer that came with your camera should be ok, but if you’re using an older one, then it can change things in the raw files’ metadata that makes them unrecognizable to Adobe software.

Unable to open Nikon D750 RAW files in CS6

Hi all, this is my first time on the forum so please go easy on me!
I have been running cs6 on an iMac Snow Leopard version up until today and have had no problems opening any raw files from either my Nikon D700 or D4. Today I decided I should update my OS and am now running Yosemite.
I Did this as my assistant at a recent wedding has provided me with raw files from a Nikon D750 and I was unable to open them or even update the camer raw plugin through snow leopard (I took a 'if it's not broke then dont fix it' approach to software updates!).
I have now run updates for photoshop through the Help / Updates tabs and these are all up to date.
I have also updated camer raw / dng converter to version 8.8 which supports the D750.
however, I am now no longer able to open any raw files through photoshop. I just get a message saying photoshop does not recognise the file type. I cannot even view the thumbnails of the D750 images in finder.
I Have found the camer raw plugin in my files (through library / Adobe / plugins / cs6 etc.) but this is still detailing a 7.1 version plugin from 2012. I have also found the dng converter version 8.8 in one of the main folders which is different to the existing plugin location although I feel I am out of my depth with this now.
I am obviously doing something incorrect but I'm not sure what. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I am running Plugin version 7.3.0.71 (dated 2012). I suppose I need to remove this plugin and replace it with the 8.8 version DNG converter do I?
At the risk of sounding simple, what is the difference between a Camera Raw Plugin and DNG Converter?
At the moment the Camera Raw plugin is in the following folder: Library / Application Support / Adobe / Plug-Ins / CS6 / File Formats.
The new 8.8 DNG Converter is located in directly in the Applications folder.
Yesterday I tried replacing the plugin with the DNG converter in the File Formats folder but this didn't seem to do anything (I deleted the camera raw plugin at the same time).

Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw Update: unable to open Nikon D5200 Raw files

I have a Nikon D5200, so I cannot view my raw files (.NEF) files in photoshop CS3 and I downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 update, and installed it using the manual installation instructions found here: Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 4.6 update. After restarting photoshop and attempting to open a .NEF file, I still receive the error "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I have also tried previous updates (4.5 and 4.4.1) and they have also not worked. How can I fix this?

The D5200 is supported in Camera Raw 7.3 and later. Older versions of Camera Raw cannot read D5200 Raw files.
Raw 7.3 is only compatible with CS6, CC or CC 2014

Unable to open Nikon 750 NEF files in Photoshop Elements 13

I just got a Nikon D750 and I cannot open NEF files in Photoshop Elements 13 even when I download Camera Raw 9.0 and DNG Converter 9.0. What can I do?

Photoshop unable to open Nikon D610 NEF files

I'm using Mac Os 10.6 and photoshop cs6 is unable to open NEF (RAW) files.
I've tryed updating it and also tryed Adobe DNG Converter but the version that runs on Mac Os 10.6 is unable to convert the NEF images. Is there any Cs6 uptdate coming?

Followed your suggestion and asked in the Adobe Camera Raw.

Re-installed CS5: unable to open Nikon D5100 Raw files

I lost my hard drive and reloaded CS 5 and when I try to edit a Nikon D5100 camera raw photo is says it is not supported.

You probably just need to install the camera raw 6.7 update, since a new install of photoshop reverts to the shipped version of camera raw 6.0.
Try Help>Updates from within photoshop cs5.
If that doesn't work, you can download the camera raw 6.7 installers:

Nikon Coolpix S70 white screen

I was playing around with my new S70 and while zooming in the screen went white and I cannot get it back. All the symbols are still there, it just doesn't take pictures anymore although it sounds like it. I tried to restart and set all settings back but nothing helped. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and what to do? Thanks!

Without having an authorized service technician it would be impossible to say conclusively what has caused your screen to turn white. Since it sounds like you still have all the icons displayed correctly on the screen I doubt the problem is with the screen itself. The problem is most likely a faulty connection between the screen and the camera's main board, but it could also be a problem with the sensor capturing your images.
I have read that sometimes this issue is caused by the cable that connects your screen to the main board gets disconnected, and resolving this is to simply re-seat the connection that has become disconnected. I would not suggest trying this yourself since it would be easy to damage the inside of the camera without the skills that a technician would bring to this procedure.
I would suggest contacting the manufacturer, or going to the Geek Squad® precinct in your local Best Buy® store, to make arrangements to have the camera looked at by a technician. If this camera is less than a year old, or you purchased additional coverage on the camera, the repair would most likely be at no cost to you.

Opening Nikon D7000 raw files in Elements 8

I am unable to open Nikon D7000 NEF files in Elements 8. I have been unsuccessfull in downloading the version 5.7 update from the web site. After downloading several times the files are still not recognized in Elements 8.

I am using Windows 7. I tried selecting the folder that contained the folder holding the pictures to be converted. I then single-clicked the folder holding the pictures and hit select. A message came up stating that the source folder did not contain any supported camera raw files.I have spoken with my Elements software supplier and this is his response:
"I've done some digging and it turns out the Nikon D7000 wasn't supported in elements until the release of version 6.4 Adobe Camera Reader.So to make sure you have the latest ACR update installed. You can check which one you have by going into elements and clicking Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw. And if it's not 6.7 then Help>Updates will find it and let you install the latest version. You could also try saving your camera files as .RAW instead of .NEF, and then opening them in elements. Adobe lightroom 4 should already have these plugins available right outside the box, but if you can save the money and run updates instead that would work just fine." I have checked for Elements updates for the Camera Raw plug-in and the message appears stating no updates are available. The camer raw plug-in version is currently 6.1.0.250.

What operating system are you using?
The most common cause is pointing the dng converter to the actual files and not just to the folder that the camera raw files are in.

Nikon D7000 raw files will not open using PSE 11

I am unable to open Nikon D7000 raw files(NEF) using PSE 11
When I use the program's "Update "function I just get an error message.

Opening RAW files in Bridge

According to p. 235 of "Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac", you are supposed to be able to right click on a RAW file in Bridge, and then you will presented with a pop up menu displaying the menu item "Open in Camera Raw". Clicking on "Open in Camera Raw" in Bridge is supposed to give you access to the full set of ACR features that Photoshop CS4 users enjoy. On the other hand, using PSE 8 to open RAW files results in a stripped down set of features in ACR.
Unfortunately, I am unable to open NEF files (Nikon's RAW files) in Bridge. When I right click on a NEF file in Bridge, there is no menu item which says "Open in Camera Raw". However, if I right click on a .jpg file in Bridge, then I do see the "Open in Camera Raw" menu item.
I am able to open NEF files in PSE 8 and edit them with ACR using the stripped down feature set. My PSE 8 came with ACR 5.5. I installed ACR 5.6 to see if that would help, but I get the same results.

Hmmm. Works for me -- when I right-click on a NEF file in Bridge (or select and then click on the "open in RAW" icon in Bridge's top menu bar), it works fine for me. I see the full-featured ACR. I use ACR 5.6, PSE Mac 8, and OS X 10.6.2.
When you installed ACR 5.6, you followed the PSE-specific instructions, right? In Preferences, you've got NEF associated with PSE? And you're not trying to mix-and-match Bridge and iPhoto simultaneously?
So far, the only difference is I'm using Snow Leopard. And i've never installed NX2 et. al. Not that it should matter, but which camera are you using?

Can't preview NEF files in Bridge to see/sort/rate

I've purchased CS6 and cannot view my new nikon d800 NEF files in Bridge. I can see them in Lightroom, but have always used bridge to sort/rate my images before importing them.

HT4101 I have a NIKON COOLPIX P500 but am unable to download photos through the IPad camera connection kit. I have tried to use the Sandisk card also - no result. Any suggestions? The Ipad does not "see" the card or camera?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P500 but am unable to download photos from it to my iPad2 via the iPad Camera Connection kit. The iPad does not see either the Sandisk 8GB card or the Nikon camera. I have turned the camera on, but it seems that the camera just want to recharge its battery through the iPad as the iPad states that the devices draws too much power?? Anybodu solved this problem yet? Advise please?

One thing to check is the format that the camera is saving pics to the card in. Many are selectable and, in most cases, if PTP is one of the options then you need to have that one selected for the files to be visible to iOS and the CCK (connection kit).
Another thing which sometimes comes up, especially with older cameras and therefore probably not with yours, is the filenaming conventions used by the camera. iOS is quite strict about what it expects to see and if files are being stored with unsupported name formats then they simply won't be seen at all.

Why am I unable to transfer files from computer to external hard drive?

I am unable to transfer files to an exteral hard drive, as the computer is not allowing me to drag the files across to either the icon on the desktop or in Finder - I have 3 different hard drives (including an Apple time capsule) and none of these is allowing transfer. I'm using version OS X 10.6.8. Any ideas?

Unable to transfer windows 7 files due to DLL error message

I recently went from PC to Macbook Pro and have been unable to transfer files from my windows 7 due to an error message "missing DLL File" Does anyone have a sloution to this problem or a sucessfull alternitive transfer method?

You can't transfer the Windows OS nor installed programs. You can transfer your data using an external drive, DVDs, usb flash drive or network.
