Unable to uninstall and update iTunes 10

What happened!!
1st. I was not able to uninstall iTunes by going to the "Uninstall and Change a program" . Every time it will pop up a window saying
"error getting file security C:/User/LIng/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch GetLastError: 5 "
Same things pop up when I tried to install new version [without removing the old one]
2rd. I was not able to update iTunes using the Apple Software Update. I can use that to update the Quicktime tho
PS: I was able to open iTunes, the older version, but it tells me that my iPod Touch need at least 9.2 version, and there is no sync etc showing in the old iTunes.
AND, i am the admin of the PC, I am using Vista.
PLEASE PLEASE help me!! I have been searching for more than 5 hours and still cannot solve the problem~

C:/User/LIng/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Quick Launch
That's a strange folder to have referenced during an iTunes install.
Do you have an iTunes shortcut stashed in there?

I have read that others having this problem trying to update iTunes have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes to solve this problem, however, I cannot completely unistall or re-install iTunes.  I have a new iPod which is useless unless I can reinstall iTunes.
Is there anything you can suggest to help resolve this issue. Thank you in advance

  • HT5262 I have my iPad 2 connected to my computer. I have uninstalled and reinstalledn iTunes. I have checked to be sure that I have Apple  Mobile devices app on my computer. I am still unable to update my iPad 2.

I have repeatedly attempted to update my ipad 2 through itunes on my windows 7 pc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. I have checked to verify that I have Apple Mobile devices downloaded. What else can I do to update my device?

Sounds more like you have a problem with your apple id. For starters go to that page click manage my apple id and singn in. If you can't sign in reset password.

if you can sign in there, try to sign in to itunes on your computer.

  • HT1751 I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I use a Flash Drive to do so?

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool  to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.

Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to  'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
    Thanks for the info.

  • HT1926 Routine update of iTunes failed. Eventually had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes x2. Installation failed with message 'Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

    Hi,
When I tried to install iTunes update this failed, then tried to uninstall and reinstall itunes twice. Failed again. Could not open iTunes. I use an HP PC. Even tried to disable Macafee firewall, still itunes failed to install. Please help!!

Followed these instructions with a few changes. (Windows 7 x64)
Uninstalled programs in the following order:
    - Itunes
    - Apple Application Support
    - Apple Software Update
    - Bonjour
    - Apple Mobile Device Support (uninstall failed due to Apple Mobile Device failure)***
    - Restarted System
    - Redownloaded Itunes from website.
    - Run installer as Administratot
    - Succefully installed
***To uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
    - Right clicked on Apple Mobile Device Support, Clicked Charge (second option), Repair, Next (failed to repari)
    - Right clicked the Apple Mobile Device Support in the Programs and Features window and clicked Repair (third option in drop down list). (repaired successfully)
    - Uninstall successful after the repair.
Below is a guess at a quicker solution:
Looking at the uninstalls, it may be worth trying to repair the Apple Mobile Device Support through the Program and Features window before trying to uninstall everything.  It may be a faster fix for the freezing service.  After the repair is successful the itunes update may work.
    Hope this helps.

  • I recently tried to update iTunes to 11.1, and am now getting an error message "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.d11 was not found."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes multiple times.  Am running Windows XP Svc Pack 3.  help

I recently tried to update iTunes to 11.1, and am now getting an error message "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times with no success.  I am running Windows XP Svc Pack 3.  Help please.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done all trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail.

iphone 4 not recognized and will not sync after latest itunes update.  I have done recommendedl trouble shooting and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail. Can I go back to earlier version of itunes or restore computer to fix?

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    Thanks for the help Ricky.
I did put my iPod into DFU and iTunes recognized it in restore mode. After restore I am back where I was before - iTunes cannot connect because of an unknown error.
I have installed Jailbreak to see if I can bypass itunes but haven't succeeded. I can't get my computer to recopgnize the iPod as a device.
I'll take it to a Genius bar next time I am in the area of one. Until then I'll probably continue to try hacks to get it connected.

  • Error message 7 and 6034.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7 times and errors continue.  Can someone help please?  Been working on this for 4 hours.

Itunes updated on my pc and laptop and now I cannot open the program on either one. Running Windows 7 on both.  Error number 7 and R6034 continue to pop up.  I have uninstalled (6 times) all of the Apple programs, rebooted, reinstalled, etc. as badgerfan1101 posted but cannot open it on either computer.  I even did a restore to an earlier date with hopes that would solve the problem.  Any other ideas?  Been working on this for 4 hours

    Hey gardenqueen1,
When you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you use this article?
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
If you haven't already done these steps, this section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
    Sincerely,
    Delgadoh

  • HT1923 I can't uninstall or update iTunes. I get an error message that it can't find the file itunes64.msi.

I can't uninstall or update iTunes. I get an error message that it can't find the file itunes64.msi. where is it suppose to be?

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I'm unable to uninstall or reinstall itunes because of missing files.

I've been having trouble for about three months with installing updates and I had the last straw today so i decided to uninstall and reinstall itunes. I went to the control panel, but it wouldn't let me uninstall because of missing files. I've tried deleting the files manually and that hadn't worked either.
