Unable to Uninstall any version of DTM (5.0.1 or 6.0)

Since my computer automatically downloaded and installed DTM 6.0, I have had nothing but problems.  I was unable to get DTM 6 to recognize my BB Curve 8330, so decided to go back to version 5.0.1, which had been working flawlessly. Unfortunately, I have been unable to uninstall 6.0, and keep getting Error 1316.
I have looked up all the previous responses to this error, and followed the directions given - have done the clean uninstall as described in KB02206, even doing the "Additional Information" at the bottom of that article, without success. I still show both Blackberry Desktop Managers in the Programs list, but the Control Panel does not recognize them as programs, so I can't uninstall them. I even tried to reinstall version 5.0.1 despite this with no success - same error.
I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit with all the critical updates installed. I was using Trend Micro Internet Security initially, but recently switched to BitDefender. I have lots of hard drive space, and have 4 Gb Ram with a Dual core processor.
I really hope someone can help me with this.  I'm getting more concerned by the day as I have no recent backup of my Life!
Thanks in advance
Linda

Hey palmerbear,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
This will take a bit of time to resolve this issue, just to pre-warn you.
First we need to resolve the Error 1316, which is caused by the install-shield. Follow the instructions in KB04272, once you do this.  Then follow the instructions in KB02206.
You may need to locate the Windows Installer cleanup utility to physically remove BlackBerry Desktop Software from Programs/Features.  If you do a google search it is very easy to find.
I hope this information helps you out.

When I try to install (upgrade) to Quicktime 7, I get 'unable to uninstall older version, contact your technical support group'.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Unable to uninstall FP version 7

OS; Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3, 32-bits
Web Browser: Both Firefox and Internet Explorer
Current version of Flash Player: 7, it seems
I had installed Macromedia Flash Player version 7 a long time ago, and with a huge lack of foresight I "upgraded" to version 10.
Everything was well, until I realized that while my web browsers would use version 10, whenever I tried to open a .swf file in my computer, it would use version 7 instead.
I've successfully uninstalled version 10, both from the browsers and from the computer itself. However, version 7 stays there. It won't disappear no matter what I do. I've used the uninstaller; it's completely missing from Add Remove Programs; I've deleted the Macromedia folder in the Program Files folder of the hard drive. I'm going after Adobe Reader and Acrobat right now, just in case one of those is the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this has gone beyond mere inconvenience --not knowing what's the problem is driving me mad!

Hi Uxis, I'm glad you have it all taken care of. I thot you really had Flash Player version 7, didn't think of the standalone!
About a year and a half ago, there was a person that actually had version 6 and it was not the standalone either Ha-Ha
Glad Pat stopped by your thread too!!
    Thanks for the feedback.

  • I installed a second copy of Nightly and persently, I am unable to uninstall the version 8.0a1 via control panel 1

My nightly version 8.0a1 (x64 en-US) stopped working when I did a system restore. I downloaded a second version 10.0a1 (X86 en-US). The last version works perfectly. Now I attempted to uninstall the first version via control panel but, to no avail. For unknown reason(s), it doesn't uninstall. Operative system: Windows 7 x64

I think you will find that
    HKCR = HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE

I don't know which version of Ccleaner you are use to but I thought that the uninstall tools there just ran the actual application uninstaller and therefore should do exactly the same thing as running it through the control panel. The one advantage of Ccleaner is that it will also function as the windows installer cleanup tool to remove broken links - advanced users only. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • HT3325 I am unable to get any version of Keynote Remote to link my devices except version 1.1!

Is anyone esle having this problem? I have an iPad 3, Keynote '09 and a MBP 2010.
I have tried loading Keynote Remote 1.3 (newest version) on several devices and NONE of them will link to my Keynote application on my MBP. I guess that would eliminate it down to being a laptop issue, but I've followed as many "fixes" as I can...Bluetooth, deleting certain preferences, starting with extensions off...etc. I'm out fo ideas.
Now when I reload version 1.1 of KNR on ANY of my devices (iPad, iPod Touch 2nd gen) it links up fine!
So...I'm down to wondering if there's something in 1.3 that is glitchy?

Use the serial number found in Settings > General > About
    Key it in here:

I've done it for you: It's iPhone 3G and not iPhone 3GS.

  • Unable to uninstall old version and install 9.2

Help!!! When trying to install itunes 9.2 I get a pop up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". It then goes on to say..."Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below". I can then browse to a path but nothing seems to work. When I click cancel another pop up says..."the older version of iTunes cannot be removed". Please help

These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes 9.2 again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unable to uninstall older version of itunes

Help! I'm trying to update my iTunes to the latest version, but i've gone from bad to worse.
I"ve downloaded the itunessetup.exe, but after going through a few paces I get this error message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "iTunes.msi" in the box below. User source: (then there's a drop down that gives me two choices) C:\Documents and Settings\John\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple\Apple Software Update\ OR C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 7.4.3.1\
Whichever I pick, the result is the same, another error message, which says: "The path '(it repeats the path i listed above)\iTunes.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder fron which you can install the product iTunes.
When I close those boxes, i get another error message that says "The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
So, I'm guessing that the problem has to do with removing the old version.
I have tried going to my "Change or Remove Programs" function. But when I try to remove iTunes, I get the original error message again ("The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable, etc ...).

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • "Unable to uninstall old version of Quicktime" - HELP PLEASE!

I am trying hard to install iTunes 7 on my PC and when running the installer it tries to uninstall the old version of quicktime and it cannot. I uninstalled it manually through the control panel, but it said some parts could not be removed. iTunes 7 still will not install. Is my PC messed up or, though iTunes 7 is released, is it just not at the stage where we want to be installing it? Should I wait for an updated version?
As well, the iTunes installer installed Apple Updater. I ran it, and it said my programs were up to date, which is not true seeing as iTunes 7 is not installed.
    Please help!

Just goto the control panel and remove/uninstall all listings for iTUnes AND quicktime.
Go here at microsoft and install the windows cleanup utility http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
Once installed goto start>all programs>Windows cleanup
Remove each listing of iTUnes one at a time, For example if theres 2 or more listings of iTUnes, highlight ONE and click remove, then highlight the seconnd one and remove it ect ect
Do the same for all listings of quicktime
Now scan the system for malware with Ewido http://www.ewido.com
After that disable your antivirus and security programs then head to apple.com to download and install itunes

I will order a sata drive when the drivers are stable.
SATA *IS* stable on x86_64 linux as of kernel 2.6 (the promise device requires some specific flags passed to the module; google for this).  Unfortunately, there are bloody few true SATA drives available yet, and they are all small
Also, if you are having trouble with
Not wanting to start a religious war, but perhaps you should try gentoo; who have a fully stable x86_64 liveCD available which happily accesses all of the hardware on a k8t neo board (but not the onboard raid, let it go, you dont need it, its just chrome).
Oh! yeah, to the original poster; in future give us some specifics; like what kernel version, what distro, where did the kernel panic, what code and did it provide a register dump too???

  • MDT 2012 - Failure 9701: Unable to find any version of USMT, unable to perform user state migration. Failed to run the action Restore User State. DNS Record does not exist. (Error: 000025E5; Source: Windows)

I am having trouble trying to capture a new Windows 8 image with WDT 2012.
    My Setup -
    Server 2012
    WDS
    MDT 2012
    Windows 8 ADK
    Hyper-V
I have created a new task and I can get the image to successfully deploy the image to a VM but it seems to fail at the Restore User State task.
Once the install Applications task has finished I added a Suspend task so I could customize the image a little. Upon resuming the task sequence is where the above failure message appears. I can see it gets to the next step (which is 'Restore User State')
but that seems to be where is crashes.
Does anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to resolve the above issue?

WAIK being installed was probably your issue so I wouldn't bother disabling the restore task. It is used to migrate user data, docs, and settings on refreshes, not new builds. It doesn't affect CopyProfile, just note that data will be migrated on refreshes so
some aspects may change, ie wallpaper, shortcuts, etc but what gets migrated with USMT can also be configured.

I am running Mac OSX 10.6.6. After running Firefox with no problem, it now won't open. When I attempt to open Firefox a "Close Firefox" dialogue box says " A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time".
I searched my computer, threw out all firefox related items and when I download a new Firefox App. the same dialogue box still appears. How can I find the hidden application, close it and successfully open Firefox?
