Unable to uninstall Download Accelerator Plus

hi.
i installed download accelerator plus in an effort to boost download speeds, now since the trial period is over, i am unable to uninstall.
i did not use their recommended method of using "uninstall.app", i merely used AppZapper.app to zap it away, and emptied my recycle bin.
now, even after reinstalling DAP, which detects smartly that the trial period is already over, i am unable to open the "uninstall.app" program
please help me (i'll award helpful or solved feedback), as i am currently unable to download normally.
this has affected my firefox.app as well.

I am an old time windows user, and i am used to having my downloads accelerated as well as organized well.
DAP is only available for mac os 1.0.3 not for anything latet than that.
Does anyone have any software tips, like download managers I can use with my mac?

Speed Download is a popular utility, though keep the uninstall directions handy if you find you have a version that doesn't work with your software update:

There have been times the software has had to be updated after a systemwide software update.
There is also a Downloads window in the Window menu of Safari, and in most other web browsers as well where you can control downloads you make off the internet.

I am using Flash Got to integrate my Download Accelerator Plus into FF7, now, in the Advanced options tab, I have C:\Users\SCARLET\Downloads, so my games can be d/l there, but they are not, they're going into another folder. HELP!

Well, basically, I want my game downloads to go into that folder. When I used DAP with Flash Got the first time, it did. Now, it doesn't want to go there. It only goes into the "My DAP Dowloads" folder. I checked the Flash Got website, but when it explained about the Flash Got options, it didn't give any help about that?

Show error in download accelerator plus at 99% on firefox

I used DAP to download videos it shows error on download complete state @ 99%
as,
Downloaded file cannot be saved
Error: The file name, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect

It's quite clearly trying to run some sort of security scan on the downloaded file and something is broken so it's waiting forever for it to finish.
You can still get to the exe file, right click the download and browse to the folder it's downloading to. Make sure you can see hidden files and also do not have known file extensions hidden (every Windows user should know how to set this) you should see the file you're downloading in there and another file with the same name but with .part on the end. Right click this "part" file and select copy, paste it somewhere else (temp folder) and rename it to what it's supposed to be. Then you should be able to run it.
Alternatively, you can also use another browser to download the same file. Right click the download in Firefox and select "Copy Download Link". Then paste this link into another browser and let that download it.
There's probably something in about:config you can change to prevent the security scan from running ( browser.download.manager.alertOnEXEOpen may be worth a try ). My guess is that some antivirus program you had installed in the past inserted something into Firefox that it didn't bother to remove when the AV software was uninstalled. This kind of thing also used to break Microsoft Office as well.

Why doesn't my DAP 10 (Download accelerator plus) work with Firefox 18?

DAP 10 was working as download manager for firefox also till version 16. It's not working now in firefox 17 and 18. Any suggestions?

Download accelerator woes

I downloaded Download Accelerator Plus a while ago. Seeing as it was just a demo, I uninstalled it. Now when i'm using Camino (or any browser for that matter) if i try to download from certain sources such as mac software sites, mirrors or download.com, i get a message saying
"DapPlugin is unable to find download accelerator plus application. please make sure to launch DAP to complete installation.
i deleted some things related to DAP but that may have made it worse. This is driving me crazy. There doesnt seem to be a plugin manager or a setting that cancels use of download accelerators. How can i get rid of this message and start downloading again? Thanks

I think the uninstaller was busted, as when i opened it it quickly closed and did nothing. i did however find dapPlugin in the library folder, and deleted it, solving my problem. Thanks!

When I tried to load the latest version of Firefox I received a message telling me that the programs that I use to do down loads from the Internet Speedbit Video Accelerator and Download Accelerator plus (DAP) were not compatible with Firefox yet. Has it been changed?

Where can I find a download accelerator?

Okay. I am new to apple so if I ask a stupid questions don't laugh. Anyways I really need a download accelerator. I live in Alaska about 100 miles away from a good internet connection. When using my old microsoft comp. I added the program Download Accelerator Plus to help with my connection problem. This worked great. I have looked for something equivilent for my safari browser and I am not finding it. DAP has a mac version but I am also lost on how I can even install it. It sent me a text file and I have no clue what to do with it. Does anybody have any suggestions on a different download accelerator or help me with installing the DAP exstention? Current situation is without the download accelerator it takes at least an hour for most of my downloads. This is not a big problem except that if it is not downloaded soon enough connection is lost and I have to restart the download process. PLEASE HELP!! I have no way to get any better interenet connection. Trust me I keep checking.

The version at http://www.speedbit.com/mac/ is 9 years old & won't run on Mavericks. Is there some other that you're trying ?.

Unable to download Netprotection plus

Just got a new laptop running Windows 8.1, 2ghz speed with 8G ram. Am trying to download Netprotect plus and it just says that the system is not compatible. It already has a free 30 day Macafee subscription but want the free BT one.
Any ideas?

Unable to uninstall Quicktime

I get the following error when I try to access the QuickTime settings in the control panel:
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL "C:\Windows\system\QuickTime.cpl", QuickTime"
When I try to open iTunes, it fails and the "Send an error report to Microsoft?" box appears. I am unable to uninstall quicktime and re-download it. Any ideas?

Currently I am also unable to reinstall Quicktime as well, but here is what I can suggest:
1) Type "93976" into the support box and find the solution post by Apple and see if that helps.
2) I reccomend the Mircosoft Uninstaller Utility just as a tool to fix any nonresponsive programs (such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on my computer- would not uninstall). This can be found in the solutions list titled: "Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer" at the bottom. Use it to uninstall the programs.
3) Call the Apple support line: 1-800-275-2273 (USA)
and talk with a professional and demand answers (do not accept "Go to an Apple store").
4) Look at other threads and look for solutions.
As I said at the top, I also cannot reinstall Quicktime, so this might be a program installation error, which hopefully will be fixed soon. Keep me posted if you get any results.

Unable to uninstall adobe reader 8.16 on windows xp

I wanted to uninstal adobe reader 8 after finding I could use adobe reader 9, I uninstalled adobe reader and ended up having to restore my system after a server problem with the new software putting adobe 8 back. I tried to uninstall it again after switching off the machine for a while for the serer to recover, I still cant uninstall 8 even after installing adobe reader 9.

I tried on the day to navigate the adobe site on dial up, adobe should cater to people on a budget if they are going to service us with a free reader. Personally I would prefer another program to decode a pdf document that does just that - without all the other stuff I will never use. Today I found I may be able to uninstall adobe 8 by running kb404307, I couldn't even find a download page for the fix. Once again I got frustrated with my pc and adobe.

Unable to Uninstall Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4

it's been a couple of days since i tried out Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4 to see how they compare to the CS3 versions, it worked fine and all till suddenly it stopped working, so i been trying to uninstall/reinstall to get it working under the free trial limit i still have left (27 days as of this writing) it still will not work.
Sometimes i would install Photoshop/Dreamweaver and say an error occurred and some components were unable to install and would be unable to load the file even after doing what the instructions say...
Same goes for when i try to uninstall both Photoshop/Dreamweaver, i would try to uninstall and would still remain in my program files...
I am completely stumped on what to do, i can't even re-install photoshop/dreamweaver cs3 as well due to this...
I am running on Vista 32bit SP1 Pack on HP Pavilion, i want to completely get rid of CS4 versions and go back to my reliable CS3 again, any help please would be greatly appreciated.

John... if you read what I said you would of caught that i did do it:
"did what was suggested, worked like a charm for the CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 but although it did work on Photoshop CS4. it did something i was dumbfounded to see, it did something odd in which it took out the Uninstall/Change tab option for removing programs (I was viewing it to see if it uninstalled completely) also it brought out a bunch of programs that weren't in that section before and was unable to uninstall/remove them.
So i had to do a system restore point to go back and try again. After doing it two more times (ya two!) still doesn't work, i am 7 hours into trying to resolve this... sigh. "
At that time i said i had done it 2 times, 3 in total, i am on try #6 all with the same results with the exact after effects once i restart my PC.
Here's what it does to tell what goes on:
1) after installing microsoft's cleaner then opening up the cs4 cleaner under admin, it does its thing, it asks me if i wish to remove Flash Player 10 after choosing remove Photoshop CS4, now here i done both remove Flash Player and not remove it with the same results, losing the uninstall/change option on the control panel, which frustrates me.
2) After seeing that i try to install Photoshop CS4 again, once its done, i open it up, try to go to the trial option where as i stated previously says there's an error and can't open the trial page which would open up Photoshop completely but since it can't i cannot go beyond that window.
3) So ya... i try ONCE again to do it all over after restarting and SAMETHING! no uninstall/change option appearing and unable to open up Photoshop CS4 in which i resort to doing a system restore again and trying once more.
NOW, one would think that after the first 3 times it should be working properly, i mean I thought it would after removing both Photoshop CS3 and Dreamweaver CS4 it's bound to do the same for Photoshop CS4, but it doesn't completely create a "FREASH" install. It's like it still remembers what messed up functions it still had and what's up with it removing the uninstall/change option? that just bogles my mind.
i tried many things, re-downloading the trial from adobe, etc i never would of thought just one program could cost me so much wasted time just to get it working and it's a free trial nonetheless so excuse me John Joslin if your remark kind of bugs me, I need some assistance/advice on trying to correct this problem, not a

Unable to uninstall pre-installed applications aft...

I'm unable to uninstall pre-installed applications after updated to Belle in N8, e.g. CNN, E!, KL traffic, Movie Teasers, Nat Geo, etc.
I noticed that it looks like those app with folder icon in application manager does not support to manual uninstall by user. (folder icon indicates pre-installed app??)
Application manager only prompt message : "Removing cancelled", and unable to uninstall these apps. Anyone facing this & is there any solution for this?

I need to remove some unwanted pre-installed applications to optimize my N8 to run smooth without lag. My N8 have some lagging when playing video, when access cuztomized folder via shortcut at homescreen (it take times to display those app in folder & this caused me launch wrong app very often), when access app via shortcut at homescreen (sometime need to press it twice to launch app, dont know why).
I can free up total 6.651Mb in my N8, if it is allowed to remove these unnecessary pre-installed app. This can speed up much more faster for N8.
Dont understand why those pre-installed applications cant be remove since they are unnecessary app & not holding the main/ must have feature in N8. I can understand some pre-installed app such as Ovi, Social that act as main/ must have feature in N8 to let user download app / social networking, but why those unnecessary app cant be remove?
Can give us some clues that why these pre-installed app cant be remove?
Can this be fixed in next firmware update?

Unable to Uninstall any version of DTM (5.0.1 or 6.0)

Since my computer automatically downloaded and installed DTM 6.0, I have had nothing but problems. I was unable to get DTM 6 to recognize my BB Curve 8330, so decided to go back to version 5.0.1, which had been working flawlessly. Unfortunately, I have been unable to uninstall 6.0, and keep getting Error 1316.
I have looked up all the previous responses to this error, and followed the directions given - have done the clean uninstall as described in KB02206, even doing the "Additional Information" at the bottom of that article, without success. I still show both Blackberry Desktop Managers in the Programs list, but the Control Panel does not recognize them as programs, so I can't uninstall them. I even tried to reinstall version 5.0.1 despite this with no success - same error.
I am running Windows Vista, 64 bit with all the critical updates installed. I was using Trend Micro Internet Security initially, but recently switched to BitDefender. I have lots of hard drive space, and have 4 Gb Ram with a Dual core processor.
I really hope someone can help me with this. I'm getting more concerned by the day as I have no recent backup of my Life!

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
This will take a bit of time to resolve this issue, just to pre-warn you.
First we need to resolve the Error 1316, which is caused by the install-shield. Follow the instructions in KB04272, once you do this. Then follow the instructions in KB02206.
You may need to locate the Windows Installer cleanup utility to physically remove BlackBerry Desktop Software from Programs/Features. If you do a google search it is very easy to find.

Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
