Unable to uninstall Firefox from desktop
I am trying to uninstall Firefox from my desktop, and I am not allowed to do this and it will not disappear. Please let me know what I can do. It does not work as a browser, and I can't uninstall it.
Thanks.

Like many others, I've been having issues with firefox since the update. The plugin container seems to crash my browser, or freeze the whole of my computer, and I must restart. I've switched to internet explorer for now.
Moreover, now Firefox doesn't even seem to open now. I doubleclick on the icon, or try to launch the browser in any way, and it looks like it thinks about opening, but nothing ever occurs. I've watched my system processes, and firefox.exe appears for a moment, and then disappears, like its process has ended, but I've done nothing.
Additionally, I can't even seem to uninstall firefox---the uninstall setup doesn't open, and trying to do it from add/remove programs on windows xp doesn't seem to work either.
I also sometimes get an error that says windows can't find a file/path, related to a 'profile' but haven't had that for a day or so---since I can't even open firefox now.

'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from the next full installer https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].

Check to see if the Firefox site has an uninstaller, and if not drag the app from the Applications folder to the trash.

Remove uninstalled apps from Desktop App?
I have uninstalled several older apps, like the CS6 and original CC apps, using the standard Windows "uninstall" app from the control panel.
I would like to remove them from the desktop app so that they no longer show up asking to be updated. Eventually, they should even stop showing up at the bottom asking to be installed. A filter could deal with that, I would think.
Have I missed a way to do that? I just can't find it and searching has failed me. I must not have the right search terms to get the answer.
Basically, the only older app I want to see is Premiere Pro CS6 and only because I still help people with problems they are having. As for the rest of the apps, I only need the latest and greatest versions showing up.
Thanks,

What kind of problems do you have that you need to uninstall or possibly reinstall Firefox ?

How do I uninstall Firefox from my Mac?
I downloaded Firefox to my Mac OS X 10.7.2 when a script I wanted to install wasn't compatible with Safari. However, now i want to uninstall Firefox, but when I drag it to the trash and try to delete it, a window pops up that says it can't be deleted because "the program is in use". Does anyone know how to fix this, or another way to uninstall Firefox?
Thanks, JamieAs stated above you need to quit Firefox and then you can empty the trash with it in there (or relaunch finder or reboot will also quit FF of course).
Note, if you want to remove all of the stuff FF installs then in addition to the app there are the following in your home directory:
~/Library/Application Support/Firefox
~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist -
Update failed numerous times. Uninstalled FF using Control Panel. Followed instructions to delete the Mozilla folder from AppData/Local/Mozilla. Then the "Folder in Use" prompt comes up and I have to cancel the delete. Folder was created 4/8/2011, but I can't find the folder using the search command. Can't install a fresh install of Firefox 18. Using Windows 7 64-bit. I no longer have FireFox on my system that I can see.
Okay, I drilled down further:
Specifically, the files I cannot delete are:
A driver with the following location:
Program Files > Common Files > Apple > Internet Services > ShellStreams.resources > en.lproj >ShellStreamsLocalized.dll
And a driver with the following location:
Program Files > Common Files > Apple > Internet Services > ShellStreams64.dll -

Unable To Delete Files from Desktop
I have a friend whose Mac Mini "suddenly" started preventing her from deleting files from her desktop. When I tried to drag the file to the Trash, the Mini makes a sound like the file was deposited in the Trash, but the icon remains on the desktop and there is no file in the Trash. I have repaired permissions and even ran FSCK -FY from single user mode. When I logged in under a different Administrator account, it worked perfectly. So, the question is "what preference file do I need to delete?"
TIA.It's an ownership problem of the Trash folder, not the file you are trying to put in the Trash. Any chance this file on the Desktop may have come from Windows?
I may have misunderstood. It sounded as if you were saying there was a connection between the Trash's ownership and Windows files. Sorry.
And it doesn't fix the problem, but it will tell us if anything can be deleted in the first place. -
Unable to print wireless from desktop
Unit: HP OfficeJet 6500 E709n Wireless
Originally setup to print w/USB connection set as USB002 by system default.
When I setup a wireless system for my laptop, the HP unit automatically recognized the laptop and printed w/o issue(s).
I recently added a USB adaptor to make my older desktop wireless. The HP OJ will not print wirelessly even though it shows in my Linksys software that it is enabled as wireless and connected.
The Linksys software also shows that USB is enabled but not connected.
I have removed the USB connection, turned off the power to all the components and restarted everything in the sequence as per the booklet that came with the HP unit. Still does not work.
I can't get rid of the USB002 connect and show wireless.
I'm sure I'm missing something simple here but can't figure out what.
Thanks.I got it figured out...finally!
I re-installed the software that came with the printer and configured the wireless option.
Thanks. -

Unable to import movie from desktop
When I click on the import arrow, the selections for "Favorites" is greayed out and there is a spinning gear like circle next to an X. How do I fix this?
OK - I found the issue - the User Folders are hidden since a recent OS update on Macbook Pro's! I had to run a terminal script to reveal it. The answer can be found: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/05/16/how-to-restore-hidden-users-folder-after -os-x-10-9-3-update/
