Unable to uninstall itunes 8.0.2.20

I am trying to upgrade to the latest version of itunes, but whenever i try, an error comes up. I have found that the same error occurs when i simply try to uninstall itunes from the control panel.
Im wondering if this is an itunes problem that i can fix, or if there is something wrong with my computer that i need to take it in to someone.
the error box that comes up when i try to uninstall reads:
"The feature you are tying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Itunes.msi' in the box below"
at this point, I go through my computer and select the folder which contains a file called 'Itunes.msi' and it still will not uninstall Itunes.

What happens if you double-click on that itunes.msi file? It should start the microsoft installer software and let you uninstall v8.

Problem is I have been unable to uninstall itunes, can't find the installation files .msi.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Unable to uninstall iTunes missing iTunes.msi

path missing for itunes.msi. tried to uninstall and re-install but cannot successfully uninstall itunes. All files are still on computer except the main iTunes icon - apparently the msi file.

This type of msi problem can usually be fixed using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been with drawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Run the clean up utility and remove any reference you find to iTunes.
    Then try installing again.

  • Unable to Uninstall Itunes due to not being able to find the folder

I can't uninstall my Itunes from my laptop to install the new one and it is saying that they can't find the folder,is there anyway i can fix this?

Start with the second box and the notes below it. If you cannot uninstall iTunes using the Programs and Features control panel, try the MS Installer Fixit, or simply tear down the installation folders as given.
The section Install missing components should show how to break down the main iTunes installer into the component .msi files.

  • Unable to uninstall iTunes 7

    Hi !
I had problems during the installation of iTunes 7, the installation stopped before the end. The pb is that iTunes is partially installed now, but doesn't appear in any uninstall programs (windows uninstaller or others). The main pb is that with this "partial version", I can't re-install ! I'm stuck with this unusable version, which make me unable to re-install iTunes ...
How to totally delete iTunes, everything (even registery, etc) ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bastien.

OK I think I found it!

    And then installed itunes 7.5.

  • I am unable to uninstall Itunes 9.1.79, nor install Itunes 10.2.2

When I upgraded my computer, I installed what was supposed to be the 64 Bit version of Itunes. It said I needed to install the 64 Bit installer. Now it will neither run, uninstall, or let me install the same or the later version. Have tried deleting Itunes, uninstalling it, and nothing seems to work. Also uninstalled (successfully)  QuickTime.

Good lord. Sorry Bob, I only just realised we've already talked about this over at the other thread. (I even thought here "oh, someone else called Bob" without realising it was the same Bob.)
So it's the PC Mover thing we discussed over there (where PC Mover has jammed a 32-bit version of iTunes on the 64-bit system, and that can't uninstall itself from the 64-bit system). Do check in with the PCMover folks to see if they've got a better solution nowadays than a total revert of the migration, and then a remigration (this time without migrating across any of the 32-bit iTunes-and-associated-software-components).

  • I am unable to uninstall itunes (to install new version as well). It says I don't have sufficient access rights yet I am the Adminstrator. Anybody else with this problem? Is there a fix?

I have had a problem updating iTunes on my PC using Windows 7. It will not allow me to uninstall the current version of iTunes (10.2.2). The first Windows Installer box says: "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
Then a Programs and Features box comes up and says: "You do not have sufficent access to uninstal iTues. Please contact your system administrator."
Well, I am the Administrator yet it won't let me do this uninstall. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

Hmmmm. Nothing instantly springing out at me as looking wrong there.
Let's try reregistering the Windows Installer service.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
    At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Any better luck this time?

  • Error 1921, also unable to uninstall itunes??? Help Please!!

I have a shuffle and itunes installed on my PC. I am trying to download the new software and keep getting the ERROR 1921, iPod service cannot be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services.
I have deleted all iPod and Quicktime programs from my computer, but when I try to remove the itunes program I get that same error, service cannot be stopped.

I deleted all iPod, iTunes and QuickTime files. I did this by My Computer> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> highlight each program and click remove. If the computer asks you to restart, say no. Don't restat till all files are deleted. Then after I restarted I went to My Computer> Program Files> right click any IPod, iTunes, QuickTime files. Right click on Recycle Bin and click empty Recycle bin. then I restarted the computer and downloaded iTunes 7.0 again. This time it worked. I got this information from the support site, but it was difficult to find.

  • Problem uninstalling Itunes/Quicktime/Apple products from my computer?

I have never had a problem with Itunes before, but recently, when trying to transfer newly downloaded songs from my Itunes, to my Ipod, the songs wouldn't sync. A message flashed up saying that I needed to re-install Itunes because Mobile Device Support was out of date.
When I tried to re-install Itunes however, my computer didn't allow me to do so. Instead I was presented with a message saying that I was unable to uninstall Itunes because Windows Installer was not properly downloaded on my computer. However, this problem only occurs exclusively in relation to Apple products installed on my computer, as I am able to re-install other programs.
I've tried every online solution offered and nothing works. No matter how hard I try, I can't re-install Itunes. Please help - I NEED MY MUSIC.

  • I am unable to install the latest update to iTunes, I get constant error messages, even when I attempt to uninstall iTunes completely and start afresh, iTunes is still listed in my program files on my hard drive and the shortcut is still on my desktop!?

Is there a bug with the latest update to iTunes because I am unable to install it, I get constant error messages if I try to open it after installing

    Hey there Mambo822,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after installing a recent update. I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • I cannot fully uninstall iTunes because I am unable to delete the commonfiles\apple folder

I received error 42404 after updating to itunes 11, and have attempted to follow the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925. However, my Vista will not let me delete the commonfiles\apple folder. How can I delete it?
The day of iTunes 11's release, I updated my iTunes, then opened up the prgm to take a look at it. I was immediately brought to the attention that the program didn't install correctly (with error 42404), so I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, with the same error coming up. I continued to use iTunes and see if i could ignore the issue, however I discovered I was unable to log into my itunes acount on the store.
So I followed the isntructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 correctly, deleted the remaining files/folders, except I am still unable to delete the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ folder. I attempt to delete it, it asks me for permission to do so, I say continue, and even after I give it permission to delete the folder, it instantly says to me, "You need permission to perform this action," and it gives me the options to cancel or try again (which immediately brings this same window up again asking me to try again).
I've done plenty of research for the past two days, from attempting to delete the individual files within this folder via the Command Prompt, using Safe Mode, and many other options, yet nothing works. I've seen many forums advise using a program called "Unlocker," however, anyone googling the program will find that it is offered from a plethora of various sites, and I honestly dont trust programs from these sites.
Is there ANYTHING anyone knows to do for an issue like this? All I need is that one folder deleted, and all my problems are gone!

    It still didn't work...
Within this commonfiles\apple folder, there is only one folder, labeled "Internet Services." Within this folder, there are 6 folders, labeled:
    APLZOD.resources
    BookmarkDAV_client.resources
    CoreDAV.resources
    iCloud.resources
    iCloudServices.resources
    ShellStreams.resources
Within all but CoreDAV and BookmarkDAV_client, there are multiple different folders, all labeled starting with a two letter (acronym I believe, for different languages) then .lproj (for example, a folder is labeled "ar.lproj".
In each of the folders of APLZOD.resources, there is a file labeled "APLZODlocalized.dll."
In all of the folders containing the multiple .lproj folders, there are likewise "name"localized.dll files contained.
In the BookmarkDAV_client and Core DAV folders, they each contain only one file, "Info.plist"
I attempted to delete all of these files, and still, the FileAssassin could not delete them. I unlocked one of them for instance, and I tried to delete the file myself (thru windows explorer and just clicking delete), and I still had the same issue of coming eventually to the window requesting me to "try again" to have permission.
What can I do?? I'd like to avoid Unlocker, but if it really is a reliable and SAFE program, and someone knows a SAFE place to download it from, I'd appreciate it very much so!!
    thanks!!
