Unable to unpack disk 2 for SLES8

I was able to following the links and download Disk 1 and Disk 2 of the Oracle on Linux eval. However, when I try to unzip disk2 of the SLES8 package, I get the following error:
"Some data in your Zip file is damaged. The CRC is 33d565d2 but should be ff6fbbfd".
Is there another location where I can download a working version of the zip file.

please provide exact filesizes when you report such installation/unzip issues, also, you can compare the md5sum with the one posted on the website.
compare size and md5sum.
for md5sum on windows you can use: http://www.md5summer.com/
on linux just type md5sum <filename>
99.99% it's the download, based on the size/md5sum you'll know which zip you'll need to re-download.
enjoy.

  • HT3275 I continue to get the following error message: Unable to complete back up.an error occurred while creating backup folder. It's a brand new drive. When I attempt to repair it using disk utility I get:unable to repair disk cannot unmounted

    I have been trying to use time machine on a new lacie 2tb usb 2 drive for back up. I continue to get: "unable to complete backup.An error occured while creating backup folder". When I use disk utility to repair I get another error message: unable to repair disk unmountable.
    Help me Obie One Canobie you are my last hope

    I have confused myself with the facts!  Started out keeping track of every step and every variable but have sort of lost it as we progress here.  First I quit all applications then swapped connections between mouse port and backup disk port to influence possible bad connections question.  Changed power outlet receptacle for the backup disk. Disabled the put-the-HD-to-sleep option.  Then powered down the computerator.
    Next started up computerator.  Turned Time Machine ON  and experienced multiple successful backups!  Then I started up a few applications, Mail and Text Edit (but not Safari so far).  Had a few more successes.  After each backup, I used Disk Utility to verify the backup disk is still OK.  This because the error about unable to unmount the backup disk seems to go hand in hand with Disk Utility finding the backup disk to be bad.
    Put computer to sleep for the night.  Upon starting up in the morning, and before doing anything else, I did a backup disk verification... BAD!   Did a restart and verified the backup disk... OK.
    Did a few    Sleep-bad, Restart -OK    repetitions.
    It seems consistent:  Sleeping the computer apparently messes up the backup disk but doing a Restart "repairs" it.
    =============================
    Now then, I don't understand everything I know here.  Methinks that maybe keeping the HD from sleeping during lulls in activity has allowed successful backups through the day but manually putting everything to sleep for the night causes a return to the problem of spinning-back-up-too-slowly (which was explained earlier).  Is there any truth in this?
    I may abandon this Seagate thing for something more compatible.  What's out there that we know works reliably for us?

  • 911... Unable to unmount disk! My external drive is 499G, the available space is 73G and it's empty!

    Hello dear support community,
    It all started when few weeks ago I plugged my external drive and nothing from the data would open. Then I got mad and never used it again. Now few days ago, when I plugged it into my Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 it just went crazy! The full capacity is 499G. I go to "get info" and the available capacity is 73 and the external drive is empty. I have movies and videos of the capacity of 425G. Where did all that information go? I am sure I did not delete any of its content. I even copied the disk on my desktop but I can't open it either. It tell me: "you don't have the permission to see its content" And Also why when I go to "disk utility" to erase or repair the external disk, it shows me "unable to unmount disk" I would like to know what I shall do please! The Files are empty and I want to be able to recover my data and use the disk like I used to. Oh by the way, when I clicked in verify, it told me: "disk needs to be repaired" and that didn't work either.
    Thank you for kindly help!
    Regards!

    Restart. That should free whatever it's showing as an open file.

  • Unable to purge disk buffers: Operation not permitted

    I receive the follow prompt in Terminal when trying to purge.... what gives?
    "Unable to purge disk buffers: Operation not permitted"

    Restarting the computer purges RAM but, if you have OS 10.9 or 10.10, it won't change what you see.
    We are starting to see a number of questions about purging/cleaning RAM. I suspect this is because people are using the obsolete methods of OS10.8 and older to see what RAM is used while running 10.9 and higher. They are assuming nothing about how RAM handling has changed as the Mac OS evolves.
    Starting with Mavericks, a lot of free RAM is pre-reserved for maximum access speed. Example. My iMac (running 10.9.4) has 12 GB of RAM--That's a decent pile. My Activity Monitor Memory chart looks like this with Safari, Mail, Messages, and some other stuff running:
    Note that almost all my 12GB is "used" but the computer runs at lightning speed. The new indicators are "Memory Pressure" and "Swap Used." Pressure should be green and Swap should be under about 100MB, and not shown in GB!
    Here is an Apple article on what Activity Monitor reports for Memory since 10.9:
    Activity Monitor: View memory usage
    If you computer is running slow, then look a K Shaffer's comments--something other than Memory is much more likely the problem. I would expand his questions about third-party software to include the following questions:
    1) Are you running any anti-virus/internet security applications?
    2) Are you running any "cleaning/tune-up/optimizations" applications?
    3) Any peer-to-peer or torrent downloading software?
    4) Any third-party disk backup software that came bundled with an external hard drive?
    5) Any online backup scheme other than iCloud or Dropbox (Carbonite; GoogleDrive; MS One Drive)?

  • Installer 2011DS1: hand crafted disk labels for compatibility checks?

    I have a problem with the installer of Labview 2011 DS1in combination with Vision. I want to create an installer for an application that uses vision and therefore selected the additional installers "NI Vision Common Resources 2010 SP1" and "NI Vision Run-Time Engine 2010 SP1". The assistant then asks for the disk "NI Developer Suite 2011 DS1 - DVD 2". When I insert that disk the assistant complains
    "The disk you have provided is a different version of the requested disk.
    Disk Requested: NI Developer Suite 2011 DS1 - DVD 2
    Disk Provided: NI Developer Suite 2011 DS1 DVD 2
    It seems, a litte missing hyphen in the disk name prevents me from deploying my application. You could argue to simply choose another DVD containing the run time engine. This leads to an overwhelming list of disk alternatives one has to manually click through in order to find another variant of the installer. The assistant knows what installer is missing and obviously knows whether the selected disks contain this installer but it is unable to filter the list to show applicable alternatives only.
    After a lot of clicks, I found another disk containing the vision runtime. It is "NI Vision Developer Module 2010 SP 1" and when I insert a DVD that is labelled exacly the same, the assistant complains:
    "The disk you have provided is a valid installer, but it does not match the disk requested.
    Disk Requested: NI Vision Developer Module 2010 SP 1
    Disk Provided: VDM2010SP1DVD
    There is an alternative Disk that seems to have the same label as my DVD and so I selected "VDM2010SP1DVD", click "Yes" and of course get the error message I have attached. After that message, nothing else happens. At least no installer for my application is created.
    Is there any way to create an installer with Labview 2011 SP1? Could you please refrain from using obviously hand crafted disk labels for compatibility checks?
    With best regards

    I had something similar happen recently, see:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/LV2010-SP1-Installer-Build-Issue-Cannot-find-the-file-it-need-on/m-p...
    I copied the VDM DVD to my hard drive and it came up on the list of alternative choices. Selected that folder and it finally completed the installer.

  • Anyone using SecureDoc Full-Disk Encryption for Mac from WinMagic?

    Currently I am using Mac OS X v10.5 on a MBP and want to upgrade to Snow Leopard. I use PGP full disk encryption.
    I do not want to wait anymore for PGP v10 before I can upgrade to Snow Leopard. In my search for a replacement for PGP I found SecureDoc Full-Disk Encryption for Mac from WinMagic.
    https://www.winmagic.com/products/full-disk-encryption-for-mac
    They claim to be Snow Leopard compatible
    https://www.winmagic.com/kw/download.php?url=/datasheets/securedocmac_brochure20090925a.pdf
    I have two questions:
    1) Does anyone have experience with SecureDoc Full-Disk Encryption for Mac from WinMagic?
    2) Where can I buy one? PGP has a store where I ordered my copy of the software. But I can't find a store anywhere for SecureDoc. With some trouble I found a reseller in the Netherlands, but they don't reply to any questions.

    I am currently testing a trial license from Checkpoint Full Disk Encryption.
    http://www.checkpoint.com/products/datasecurity/pc/index.html
    The company where I work is a Checkpoint reseller, and normally only has dealings with other companies, not end users. But we arranged a trial license and I can buy a single user license Checkpoint Full Disk Encryption if the test proves Checkpoint Full Disk Encryption is a good solution.
    I created a bootable usb disk with Snow Lepoard on it. But I was unable to install FDE on it. After reboot I only get a blank screen, that's it. Probably it isn't supported to boot from a full disk encrypted removable drive, I can understand that.
    I can't create a virtual Snow Leopard machine (legal reasons) to test it on. And all FDE solutions I found aren't compatible with Mac Server, which is a shame because you can virtualize Mac Server legally.
    So now I am planning to change the hard-disk of my MBP this evening with another hard-disk to test Checkpoint FDE there. I don't want to upgrade my current Leopard installation to Snow Leopard only to discover it doesn't work as expected. I could of-course use my current installation and when it doesn't work rollback to a timemachine backup, but before that I have to decrypt my disk and uninstall PGP witch will take 1-2 days, and encrypt again when the test is over. Not pratical.
    I will let you know how the test with Checkpoint Full Disk Encryption went!

  • Unable to find disk 2. Installation cannot continue.

    RDBMS Version: 9.2.0
    Operating System and Version: Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike)
    Unable to find disk 2. Installation cannot continue.
    Hello, I have been trying to install Oracle 9i Release 2 into a Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike) machine with no success. The installer hangs with "Unable to find disk 2. Installation cannot continue." even if it is configured in the .rsp file the parameters that specify the path to the other disks.
    In some posts I found here (in metalink) there were references to 2 different variable names: FROM_LOCATION_DISK2 or LOCATION_FOR_DISK2 and FROM_LOCATION_DISK3 or LOCATION_FOR_DISK3. Both were set. Parameter FROM_LOCATION_CD_LABEL were also set with value "orcl920" (from the disk.label) and the names of the directories where the install disks where extracted have names like Disk1, Disk2 and Disk3. (I saw in the documentation that if the parameters of the other disks, 2 and 3, were not set in the response file, the installer would look for directories named Disk2 and Disk3 in directories 2 or 3 levels above products.jar, which is located in a subdirectory of Disk1).
    I know this is not a certified combination of OS+DB but it´s just a test DB and won´t be put in production and even this config won´t be put in production in any site but it´s strange that a certification problem could raise an error in this level (what I would expect are linking and dependencies errors and not the impossibility of finding the install disks that are in the same file system and even specified by the parameters).
    Is there another way to specify the location of these disks? Through a comand line parameter of the installer, for example, an enviroment variable or even other parameters in different files....
    Thanks in advance.
    Mauricio.

  • Unable to allocate disk space, disk might be fragmented

    I have a partitioned drive, I switch back and forth between 9.2.2 and 10.4. I use Protools on 9.2.2 and have never had a problem with recording audio until now. Whenever I go to record an audio track, it tells me "Unable to allocate disk space, disk might be fragmented". If I dont have enough space on the internal hard drive, how do I find that out and free up more space? If I need to fragment the drive, how do I do that also. I just now backed up all my files to an external firewire drive, and even when I open the moved files and try to record audio, it gives me the same error message. Can anyone help with this?
    regards
    Danro

    Hi, Danro -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
    If I dont have enough space on the internal hard drive, how do I find that out and free up more space?
    Do a Get Info on the icon of the hard drive. Two of the info items presented in the Get Info window will be "Capacity" and "Available" - the critical one is the one labelled "Available" - that's how much total unused space there is on that partition. For normal usage, this should not be less than about 15% of the "Capacity" figure - i.e., a volume should not be allowed to get more than about 85% full.
    The total unused space ("Available") does not take into account how much the disk may be fragmented.
    To free up space, throw away or archive off files - once they have been archived off the originals can be thrown away.
    Note - before throwing away the originals, confirm that the archived files are indeed copies, and not aliases - you can check for that by looking at the name of the file on the archive volume - names for aliases are shown in italic - or by examining the size of the file - an alias will typically report as being only about 4K in size.
    If I need to fragment the drive, how do I do that also.
    I assume that's a typo - no one should try to fragment a drive; the goal should be to defragment a drive.
    This Apple KBase article discusses file (drive) fragmentation -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=17933
    There are two basic ways to defragment a drive -
    • Archive off all the items that you do not want to lose, then erase the volume (partition). This can be done only while booted to another volume - to a CD, or to a different partition (such as the OSX one, in your case). Then re-install the OS and copy back the files needed from the archive volume.
    Note - doing a simple Finder-based erase of the drive will not fix any directory errors; it will only fix file fragmentation. To get rid of any directory errors, you will need to use a utility such as Alsoft's DiskWarrior, or re-initialize and re-partition the entire drive. Note that this second option, re-initialization, will delete everything on the drive as a whole, including all partitions, not just the partition in question.
    • Use a defragmenting utility such as Alsoft's PlusOptimizer or MicroMat's TechTool Pro. A defragmenting utility will not remove anything from the volume - it just moves files around physically on the volume until they are no longer fragmented. In order for it to be able to do that it will need some free space on the volume - usually 15% or so of the volume's capacity is sufficient for that.
    <hr>
    Sometimes an error message is not fully accurate - there is a problem, but the wrong message is generated. To examine for that, boot to an OS Install CD (either OS 9 or OSX, depending what is available), and run Disk First Aid (OS 9) or Disk Utility (OSX). Let the utility examine the drive, and have it repair all that it finds wrong.

    no. you should only be worried if you see actual problems with backups.
    those are informational messages only and TM will work its way through them.

    Hi,
    Once you have entered the needed information about the connection string and container, go to Object Tab and select the objects. then the Start button will enabled.
    Another way to reverse engineer is to use ERD component. Refre to the Note 299067.1 in Metalink.

  • How do I access Disk Utility for 10.7.1?

    How do I access Disk Utility for 10.7.1? I found it in the forums a few weeks ago, used it, then lost the directions. This is a last ditch attempt
    to use OS Lion. I parted my hair incorrectly when I installed and have been plagued by the dread rainbow spinning ball in EVERY application. Yes, every. Name one, Safari, Firefox, Text Edit, Mail, Excel, Word, iTunes, Garage Band, Calculator, Calender, iPhoto....yes, every, and I cannot
    find a solution that works. I have back up files on two different hard drives 500 gig and 1 terrabyte with all my music, photo and writing files.
    I am a writer and a musician so imagine the frustration. OS 10.6 is an option of course. My dedication to Apple and each new OS is deep so
    I am hoping that somehow there will a fix, an upgrade, something that does not require me to go bac to the much more endangered species named OS.
    hahhaa! Just stalled waiting for the ball to finish with it's random spinning.... SO, this is like a last desperate .... it just did two more stalls.
    NO OTHER apps running, just little Firefox holding on for dear life, last desperate request for a fix.
    MacKeeper has been great in sending helpful directions for getting the Antivirus to work after it mysteriously decided to stop working, Quite MacKeeper,  go to Activity Monitor, force quit helper, start up MacKeeper and run program. It works!
    SO before my third stall stops me, please post directions to open disk utility in administration mode so that I can do any further repairs that have not worked by using it from the open system. Also keychain synching stopped working with Lion.
    Thanks to any and all who can help.

    Press and hold Command-R keys and reboot. You'll then start up in the Lion Recovery HD. You'll find Disk Utility there.
    Command-R to the rescue.
    Just hold down Command-R during startup and Lion Recovery springs into action. It lets you choose from common utilities: You can run Disk Utility to check or repair your hard drive, erase your hard drive and reinstall a fresh copy of Lion, or restore your Mac from a Time Machine backup. You can even use Safari to get help from Apple Support online. And if Lion Recovery encounters problems, it will automatically connect to Apple over the Internet.

    The Java source that has the implementation of the service methods is simply:
    package com.aa.rmis.webservice;
    import com.aa.rmis.ifr.request.*;
    public class TestService
    public TestService()
    public int serviceRequest(PaymentRequestCreate request)
    System.out.println("Received serviceRequest message");
    return 0;
    public void testStringRequest(String request)
    The web-service.xml file is attached, which contains the schema for the SAP PaymentRequest.Create
    object definition.
    Another problem I have, which is probably related, is that the service method
    that has a complex data type (non-built in data type) is not being deployed into
    the WebLogic server. But the other service method that simply takes a String
    parameter is.
    The steps I took are:
    1. Get XML from SAP Interface Repository (IFR) for PaymentRequest
    2. Use ant task autogen to generate the request codec classes
    3. Create the web-services.xml file by inserting the schema definition and the
    mapping file created by the autogen task, and defining the operations
    4. Build web-services.war file that contains all autogen compiled class files,
    the web-services.xml file, and the service implementation class
    5. Build the ear file that holds the web service files
    6. Use the clientgen ant task to generate (included above) to generate the client
    jar file that should contain the proxy for both of the service methods
    Environment:
    * WebLogic 7.02
    * JDK 1.3.1_06
    * JBuilder 9 Enterprise
    * Ant 1.4
    Possible causes:
    * Namespace not being used correctly
    * copied verbatim the mapping xml file generated by autogen into the web-services.xml
    file
    * xml-schema part of web-services.xml might not be set correctly
    * operation definition might not be using the correct namespace
    * Classpath used for ant might not be right
    * Doubt this is the problem, but I'm out of other ideas
    * Set by using the setWLEnv.cmd file provided by WebLogic
    * Tried adding the generated classes directory for my project to the classpath,
    but did not work
    I've been referencing the Programming WebLogic Web Services document throughout
    this entire process. I must be missing something.
    Can anybody from BEA help me out with this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    [web-services.xml]

    Hi JD,
    I spent a few cycles looking over your web-services.xml file, however I
    don't have any suggestions other that one that looks like you have
    already tried, at the top, in the <schema...>
    targetNamespace="urn:sap-com:document:sap:business"
    Making edits to these generated files can be tricky and my only
    suggestion is to create a small reproducer to run by our outstanding
    support team.
    A quick look at our problem database shows one issue (CR095109) related
    to a similar problem at deploy time that was fixed with 7.0SP3. Again,
    the support folks will be able to help focus in on the issue.
    Regards,
    Bruce

    The first posting contains the wrong web-services.xml file. Please refer to this
    one instead.
