Unable to update app: different Apple accts!

Got Dream Dresses app with daughter's apple ID as she was teaching me how to use/play with apps. Before she left for college she closed her account AND created an acc for me so that i would continue playing and I loved it.  I got new Apple acc so i could continue downloading apps without having to be linked to nobody's Acc (daughters).  The Dream Dresses App is still in my phone BUT I cannot update because when I try to do so i get the blue little box which shows the ID and space for my password.  Well, it reverts back to daughter's acct: it won't reflect my new acc, although it has been changed in "Settings."  If i go to settings, my new acc shows correctly.  i contacted the creator ("Breaktime Studios") and they swear this is an Apple issue: they won't help!  SOMEBODY must have a solution to my dilemma.  I want to continue playing Dream Dresses.  I am in Level 32 I think, and have invested enough energy, time, and money to simply give up and delete game only to have to re-install and start anew. Not fair!

- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
- This may work if you get the data from the backup, delete her app and download the app using your account.

  • Cannot Update Apps - Different Apple ID

I purchased my MacPro used from somebody.  It was installed with Mavericks.  I went to System Preferences>App Store and clicked on "Check Now" button to check for updates.  These updates are available:  OS X, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, and iPhoto.  When I click on "Update All" button I get a dialogue box asking me to sign in to download from the App Store.  In the "Apple ID" window is the ID of the person from whom I bought the MacPro and I am not given the option of typing in my own Apple ID.
I suspect this is because the previous owner purchased Mavericks through the App Store and now I am unable to update the software because I did not purchase it.
If that is the case, do I just need to go to the App Store and download the OS X Mavericks using my Apple ID?  And if so, will the install preserve all of my preferences?
    Thank you in advance.
    Robert

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted from the disc, the USB device, or Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • Unable to update apps on iPad mini. I have even restored the iPad and now I can't download any of my previously purchased apps.

Can someone help me. I am using an iPad mini with iOS 7.0.4 with wifi connection. Have had no problems until recently when I was unable to update apps and then noticed that some apps would open but no data would be available in apps like intelicast and Pinterest. I have restored the iPad and now I am unable to download any of my previously purchased apps.

    1. Make sure iPad is using the latest software
    2. Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
    3. Make sure Time Zone is correct
    4. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Unable to update apps after 10.5 update

I have been unable to update apps on my iPhone since downloading iTunes 10.5.
I have an established connection in iTunes to my account and can download apps but when I when I click on "# Updates Available" I am asked to sign in again and then receive a message that the iTunes Store is unavailable and to try again later.
All system software is up to date and I have update my iOS to 5. I am able to connect to the store via my iPhone and update there but do not understand why I can't view the updates on my Mac.
    Please help

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

  • Unable to update apps in app  store after installing 8.1.3

I have been unable to update apps in app  store after installing 8.1.3
Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, on iPhone, but ok on iPad. It says I have 12 Updates, but doesn't say what they are. I sync'd with iTunes on the Mac and everything is up to date there. I think if there are no Updates in iTunes, then you are up to date. It may be an issue with Notifications. I'm turning Alerts off in iPhones Notifications settings for now so I don't have to look at the number. Welp, now it says 11 Updates.

Hi, my ipad2 is unable to update apps. When i tap on the update icon I get the message, "unable to connect to itunes store". But i can still go to itunes and download new apps or search my apps and update individually.

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and change the date to a few months in the future and then re-trying

    Hi there Sam R 12,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

I had the same problem. It appears that the servers chuck a hissy fit if you don't download your purchases in a timely fashion. I used the 'report a problem' feature in my iTunes account to contact customer support via email. They replied about 24 hours later, reset my download cue and the problem has now been resolved.
Hope this helps you solve your issue.

  • Why i'm unable to update App with different Apple ID? (it gives me an error: Impossible to connect to iTunes Store)

    Hello,
i installed a lot of Apps on my iPad (both free and purchased), then a sad day  i had to change my apple ID (due to some mistakes in configuring the ipad for my wife with a different apple ID and for icloud...).
Now i have apps with my last apple ID account and apps with my previous one.
When i have to update Apps with my last apple ID, there's no problem, but when i try to update Apps installed with the OLD one a problem occurs and even if i type the right password for it i get always the same message: Impossible to connect to iTunes Store!
Password for old apple ID is correct because i can log on line at account page on https://appleid.apple.com/it/
I read everywhere that having Apps with different account on the same Ipad is allowed, so....What's the Problem??
    thank you in advance.
    Bye

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

  • On my ipad when i try to update apps my apple id now has a different email address which is not listed on my account?

on my ipad when i try update my apps my apple id email is changed from my icloud to my ymail. all though i have never used or registed with my ymail email i only have my icloud email listed in my account

Sounds like you may have originally been connected to the store, with your Ymail apple ID, and would need to change it back to this, in order to update.

  • Unable to update apps in UK app store

i I have been trying to update 6 apps, including Amazon, for the last 3 days. The circles just spin, and eventually I get a message on 1 of them saying "unable to purchase (app name) at this time".

    Greetings JGK286,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like some apps on your iPad are not updating. If so, try the following tips.
First, make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection by using another application like Safari. If you can't connect to the internet, try the troubleshooting steps in this articles:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
If your internet connection works normally in other applications, next try signing out and back in to the iTunes & App Store:
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Store, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Choose Sign Out from the menu that appears. Restart your device next. Then, sign back in to the iTunes & App Store and try to update the apps again.
    From:
iOS: Sign in with a different Apple ID in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support

  • Unable to update apps or download next segment of app game

    Hello,
I am unable to Update All or even separately update any of my apps from the App Store. When I click on Update All, I give it my password then briefly see the blue update circle but then it goes right back to "Update". I've tried signing out of the App Store, doing a hard reset, then signing back into the App Store and that didn't fix it. Any thoughts?
As a side note, I tried purchasing the next levels of an app game and I get an error saying the game was used under a different Apple ID. I have recently reset my password but don't recall ever creating separate IDs. How do I find out if I have others out there or which ID a specific app is tied to?
    Thanks,
    Anne

    Update:
Only thing left that I can think of - repair disk permissions on the drive that stores iTunes run files and repair disk on the external that holds the library content.  Repair of permissions reports (ACL missing on “Applications/iTunes.app”) but also that the ACL has been fixed.  So  I try my iTunes tasks again (mainly the app updates) and on first run iTunes says unable to download, file with duplicate name exists.  I don't know what the **** it's talking about for that, so I shut it down and reopened, and of course it went back to all original problems...
One more thing I've noticed - Just did a sync with my iPhone and initiated a Transfer Purchases first.  iTunes transferred my new books, but though it said it was transferring some 20 apps, all still call for updates and my newest apps (not yet in the library) are still not in the library...
