Unable to update from Acrobat 8.0.0 to 8.1.2?

Update appears to proceed, then get a message that the computer is already updated to 8.1.0. The About Acrobat window shows version as 8.0.0.
I used Acrobat Help > Check for Updates. Downloaded and installed what was there. Also tried downloading and installing just the Acrobat portion. Same results.
Computer is a Dual-Core Intel Xeon running OSX 10.4.11.
Do I need to do an incremental update rather than in one jump.
David W Peck

Yes, it is necessary to do incremental updates for Acro8.

I would like to update from Acrobat 6.0.2, and just downloaded Acrobat Pro 9.
I don't seem to be able to access it, and wonder if I have to go numerically through
all the updates that I never did to get to 9?  Thanks for your help!

What version of of OSX do you have?
6.0.2 works on up to X.3.9.
Version 9.0 works only on X.4.11 and up.
You don't update to Acrobat 9.
    You must Purchase Acrobat 9.
Adobe might give you a discount if you give them your current serial number to verify you own a previous version.

  • Updated from Acrobat 5 to 7, seems to do far less. Need help.

I just "updated" from Acrobat Standard 5 to 7, but I guess I wasted my money. It doesn't seem to do half of what 5 did! Some upgrade!
Ok, now that I've vented, please tell me there's a way to select objects to delete them. I've tried the "Object Data Tool" and the "Select Object Tool," one of which you'd think would do the trick, but no. I tried clicking on the objects, I tried drawing a box around them, it acts as if there's nothing there. It won't select anything.
v7 apparently doesn't allow you to create or edit forms either, which 5 did! How is going backwards an update???

I have Acrobat Standard 7,  not pro. But my v5 was not pro, and it did forms.
It also had no problem working with objects, the way this one seems to.
I've uploaded the file to a place where you can have access to it, it's a publication called the Humor Times:

    Thanks for taking a look.

  • Why am I unable to update from firefox 4.0.1 on mac osX 10.6.8 when my Mac meets the requirements?

I have a Mac OSX (10.6.8) with an 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory and 2TB hard drive.
Yet I am unable to upgrade from FireFox version 4.0.1
I can no longer access my YouTube account, and other websites, because I am told the FireFox version I am running is not compatible.
Why am I unable to upgrade to the latest version of FireFox?
Do you just not want Mac owners to run your browser? It seems this is the case as this has been an ongoing issue that should have been resolved already.

Firefox 4 versions and later '''do not run on a PowerPC Mac''' and require at least OS X 10.5 and '''an Intel Mac'''.

  • Unable to update adobe acrobat

What version of Acrobat do you have?  Pro, Reader, and version number?

  • Unable to update from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9 or 10.4.10

I am trying to install the Mac OS X Combined (PowerPC) update and get the stop sign with the exclamation mark inside.
I have 16.8GB of free space on the drive.
"Installing this software requires 512MB of space"
"You cannot install Max OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
I had the same problem when trying to update to 10.4.9 but figured it wasn't something I needed to do really, but now I am finding I cannot update anything. When I run Software Update, there is never anything that comes up as needing to be updated. I can't install security fixes or anything else either. Why am I unable to update anything on my iMac?

I never checked permissions.....so I ran disk utility and some permissions were not set correctly. What would cause that? Did I somehow change them without knowing?
    "Determining correct file permissions.
Permissions differ on ./Library, should be drwxrwxr-t , they are drwxrwxr-x
Owner and group corrected on ./Library
    Permissions corrected on ./Library

Owner and group corrected on ./private/var/log/secure.log
    Permissions corrected on ./private/var/log/secure.log"
Also, does Apple cover bad hard drives with their warranty? I did a surface scan and the volume is damaged and unable to repair because it is the OS...can it be fixed, or do I need to contact Apple under the warranty?

  • Unable to update from apps store

After downloading Yosemite I can not update from apps store. This is the prompt I get:
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
Now Apple doesn't recognize the serial number of my iMac.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • With new updates from Acrobat Read my computer freezes and I can not fill in forms anymore, how do I fix these problems?

After updating Acrobat Reader my computer now freezes when I try to fill in forms using Acrobat Reader, this never happen before! Now the only way to unfreeze my computer is to turn it off and restart it, which is not how a computer is suppose to be turned off as nothing responses to get it unfrozen(ESC., Contol-Alt-Delete)! The I shows up as if I am able to fill in forms, but after trying to fill in the form numerous times various ways, it always ends up freezing my computer up! I HATE THE NEW UPDATES! Why can't I speak with a live human, through Adobe? I would not want to buy anything from any company which would not allow me support by talking to a live human over the phone, as typing messages can be misunderstood! Their is no point to have Acrobat Reader any more if it does not allow me to fill in forms! I could use the reader that came with the computer! It is sad that for myself filling forms using Acrobat Reader was nice since there are times I am unable to write anything due to tremors, unfortunately I am not alone in this type of medical problem and we the disabled the majority of us are on Social Security! Everyone know that Social Security does not give their recipients enough money to live off of! It is sad when a person is ill they lose more than their livelihood, so called friends abandon you too! So how can I fix the freezing problems and is there any Adobe that I can fill in forms which will not cost me money and or another company that may offer this free of charge?

  • Problem updating from Acrobat 10.1.10 to 11. Error 1001, and am told to connect to update server. When I activated the installer, message said Install failed, contact manufacturer for assistance, so I am.

I am using a 2011 MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.9.5.  Have been using Acrobat 10.1.10, but got a pop-up notice from Adobe today, saying that it had been awhile since last logged on and my software was due for an update. However, after downloading the update Acrobat 11, the updater seems to be unable to FIND the file to update, so it asks me to select the file to update. When I found it, the file icon was grayed out, and wouldn't allow me to select it. Gave me a message for "Error 1001". I'm an experienced Mac user, but not a programmer, so I don't know what that means. When I tried to run the installer from the downloaded file, it stopped, saying "Installation Failed" due to encountering an error—which was NOT named or numbered—and that I should contact the manufacturer for assistance. Which I am ATTEMPTING to do, but it appears to be impossible to actually get direct help.
Suggestions, or better yet, direct answers, would be appreciated.

Did you ever figure out the problem? "Contact Software Manufacturer"?? That sounds ominous... I've got the same issue and I'm pretty durn aggravated right about now....
    Thanks!

  • Unable to print from Acrobat 9.0

I am trying to print to an inkjet printer from Adobe Acrobat 9.0. I am printing from a MAC which is running OSX 10.5.8 to an Epson 3800. I am using paper which is 12.5in x19in. I choose my paper 13inx19in using page setup. When I hit print the paper moves about half way down the paper and begins printing eliminting most of the images that I want to print. I have checked everything carefully and my printer seems to be setup correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for your help, Mary Pat McNally

As Mike says upgrade to 9.1.3
If that doesn't resolve issue go to site of Printer Manufacturer and see if there is a updated Print Driver.
If there is, do the following:
    Quit acrobat.
    Download Driver
    Open Printer Utility
    Remove current listing for printer
    Quit Printer Utility
    open Driver File and install.
Go back to Printer Utility and ask it to locate new printer.
When your printer Pops up  immediately make it the default Printer
    Quit Printer Utility
    Open system Preferences
    open Printer/Fax Control panel
Set you printer as default there as well. Quit preferences
Now open Acrobat and set up printer (Page setup)
You might have to go to Custom Printer size at bottom of List
if so set height and width as desired.
Save this custom setup with a name.
Now go to document  and choose Print/
Choose you custom set up if you wre not able to preset a listed size.
    Now try printing Document.

  • Can't update from Acrobat 9.3.0 to 9.3.2

I installed Acrobat 9.3.0 from my Adobe Creative Suite CS5 disk set and now I need help updating to 9.3.2, the most recent version. I've pasted the error messages and what I tried below. I'd appreciate it if anyone can tell me what I need to do differently.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.4 on an Intel Xeon Mac Pro.
I got an error message that says the update could not be applied:
I uninstalled Acrobat, then reinstalled it, immediately ran the updater again, and got the same message.
I tried downloading the updater for 9.3.1, thinking I needed to apply incremental updates separately, but on running it I got a similar error message saying the update failed:

After you install, Acrobat Pro (9.3.0) in CS5, do a "Help > Check for Updates". The Adobe Updater software will automatically download and install patches and take you from 9.3.0 to 9.3.3 in one go. You will be asked your admin credentials to be able to complete a successfull install

  • Update from Acrobat 9.3.2 Std to 9.3.3 fails

I have had Acrobat 9.3.2 (Standard) on my laptop at work for over a year now.  I can no longer update to new versions.  When I try and do updates as a local admin (only an admin on MY laptop) from the Help menu, or download the 9.3.3 update individually, I get the error below.  Local work IT says "it ain't us, nothing has changed policy wise".  They suggested re-installing the program then do the patch update to 9.3.3; I did a "reinstall" which did successfully reinstall the 9.3.2 version, but I still get the error message below when trying to get to 9.3.3.
Any idea WHAT causes this error below (can a registry change relax what Acrobat is complaining about)?  I looked in the registry to see if there was anything obvious (there wasn't), so I am uncertain how to get the new update installed.  My IT department is demanding I update my Flash and Acrobat to latest versions due to security problems... I have to figure out how to do this or uninstall and stop using Acrobat.  Flash updated ok to the latest version (10.1.53 as I recall), but Acrobat is refusing to update. Ugh.  Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure that registry values below are not set to 1:
    "DisablePatch" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    "DisableLUAPatching" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
