Unable to update from version 4 to version 5

I have a VISTA system with Itune that is up to date. I have had trouble updating my iphone 4 to the new update. It hangs up on the backing up portion of the sync.

You most likely have either a corrupt sockets layer in Windows or a corrupt backup. For the first, open a Command window with Administrator privileges and enter:
netsh winsock reset
then reboot. This can do no harm; if winsock is not broken this will not do anything.
Next try to back up separately; right click on the iPhone's name in iTunes and choose "Backup" from the floating menu,
If you still have a problem delete the backup by going to iTunes preferences, Devices tab.

I have searched these discussion rooms and am unable to find an answer that has worked for me.
My current situtation:
upgraded from 3gs to a WHITE IPHONE4 yesterday.
I have not jailbroken it.
I have updated itunes to 10.2.2 (current version)
I have updated all software on my computer
My firewall is disabled.
I have tried to restart my computer....
There are no other usbs running
I am connected to the internet
I even closed all programs
I am using a MacBook (10.6.7)
I STILL AM UNABLE TO UPDATE FROM 4.3.1 to 4.3.3
Please... help me... what am I doing wrong?

firmware and ispw files were all okay
Apparently the hosts file had that ##.apple.com address
Had to delete that... it wouldn't let me save changes...
to do that... had to download text wrangler... T_T
Finally got it to work!

HT5654 itunes wont update from very old version

I can't update Itunes from version 4 years old so I can't import my music into new Iphone 5s.
I tried to update through Itunes "HELP icon" then CHECK FOR UPDATES but keeps telling me not able to connect to iTunes server-check internet connection or try again later. Also tried to change in EDIT / PREFERANCES / GENERAL / CHECK FOR UPDATES but did not work.

It sounds like you are trying to update to the newest version of hte iTunes application but are unable to with the menu bar. This is the first thing I would have tried as well, so I would next use the following article to uninstall iTunes and its associated softwares from the computer and install a fresh up to date copy.

I resolved the problem in Snow Leopard by logging out of my (admin) account and logging into my daughter's account on the same machine. She doesn't have admin privileges, so when I tried to install Firefox 4 in her account, I had to authenticate with my admin identity and PW. Installation went smoothly after that. My guess is that you could also simply create a new account on the same machine and install Firefox 4 from that. I have no idea why this works.

I'm with the same product code as shyam: 0575590.
Contacted Nokia several times by email, to know when the update will get released for my product code. They are always forwarding that ready-made answer (Thank you for contacting... we have forwarded your mail to concerned dept... do u know you can update the software yourself.. etc.). Asked in different tones but they are cool like ice. They never give an up-to-point reply but the same old pointless reply every time.
I don't know what to do. I may get my phone updated from Nokia Care point but that is not practical for me. Waiting will not be a problem if they can tell a date.
Please post here if any of you gets any information.

I am trying to update from ver10 to ver 11.01.03 but unable to update.
I have follwoed the following steps...
1) Checked for updates
2) Accepted update
3) Downloaded updates
4) Restrated the computer.
After all the above steps when I check in About tab of itunes, it still shows itunes10.
How sould I update to the latest version of itunes ?

Why am I unable to update from firefox 4.0.1 on mac osX 10.6.8 when my Mac meets the requirements?

I have a Mac OSX (10.6.8) with an 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 16GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory and 2TB hard drive.
Yet I am unable to upgrade from FireFox version 4.0.1
I can no longer access my YouTube account, and other websites, because I am told the FireFox version I am running is not compatible.
Why am I unable to upgrade to the latest version of FireFox?
Do you just not want Mac owners to run your browser? It seems this is the case as this has been an ongoing issue that should have been resolved already.

Unable to update from apps store

After downloading Yosemite I can not update from apps store. This is the prompt I get:
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
Now Apple doesn't recognize the serial number of my iMac.
Any help would be appreciated.

Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

Unable to update from 4.2.1 to iOS 4.3.3

currently i am running iOS 4.2.1 on iphone4 and tired to update it to latest version iOS4.3.3 but after downloading update for 25 min, it says
"There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone "xxx iphone". the network connection timed out".
i have done numeros times and always its saying the same. i am sure there was no internet connection lost.

I am trying to install the Mac OS X Combined (PowerPC) update and get the stop sign with the exclamation mark inside.
I have 16.8GB of free space on the drive.
"Installing this software requires 512MB of space"

I had the same problem when trying to update to 10.4.9 but figured it wasn't something I needed to do really, but now I am finding I cannot update anything. When I run Software Update, there is never anything that comes up as needing to be updated. I can't install security fixes or anything else either. Why am I unable to update anything on my iMac?

I never checked permissions.....so I ran disk utility and some permissions were not set correctly. What would cause that? Did I somehow change them without knowing?

Also, does Apple cover bad hard drives with their warranty? I did a surface scan and the volume is damaged and unable to repair because it is the OS...can it be fixed, or do I need to contact Apple under the warranty?

Unable to perform update from OS X version 10.5.4 to 10.5.5

Automatic updater downloaded the OS X 10.5.5 update and tried to install it but failed.
The installation stalled at "Configuration Installation" with a small amount of blue showing in the progress bar. I left it for several hours but it got no further.

I am having this problem and tried to follow your instructions. However, when I got to 'Advanced' I did not see a Network Tab. The closest reference I could find under my 'settings' was 'HTTP1.1 - use HTTP1.1 through Proxy connections' I have the option of 'unclicking' that box. I wasn't sure if that would solve my problem.
