Unable to update iPhoto in Mac AppStore

Hi guys,
I'm stuck with updating iPhoto 9.1.5 to 9.2.1.
I called with Apple because of this matter but they couldn't help me out.
I bought my iMac last year and from the beginning it's saying there is an update for iPhoto. But when I try to update with the MacAppStore it's saying: "You have updates available for other accounts. To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
But this application was already included on my iMac and didn't bought it with my account or something.
So.. how can I update iPhoto?
Any help much appreciated!
Best regards, Justin
Small note: I read somewhere that you need to buy it when you want to upgrade since it's not included in Lion. But it was included in my OSX Lion and I can't buy it since trhe AppStore is telling me that iPhoto is installed.

Go to your Purchases List in the App Store and if iPhoto is there, click Accept beside it. Then you'll be able to update in a few moments.
If iPhoto is not there, or, if there is no accept button, then you have to work with App Store support for resolution of this. They are the only people who can help with Account issues.

  • My Air won't do anything, I can't move the mouse and the keys won't respond. It came after an OS update from the Mac Appstore. HELP!

After an OS update, from the Mac Appstore my Air won't do anything.
I updated OSX from the appstore, and I restarted my laptop. Now I'm in the choose profile screen and nothing happends. At all. I can't move the mouse, the keys aren't responding etc.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • I upgraded to Mavericks, and now I am unable to update iPhoto. Please advise.

I searched thru the posts, found and tried the Sharing Prefernce solution, as well as attempted signing out and signing in of the App store, but I am still unable to update iPhoto after installing Mavericks. Anyone have another solution?

What version of iPhoto did you have before upgrading to Mavericks?  This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1.

  • I am unable to update IPhoto

I am unable to update IPHoto as it was preinstalled on my IMAC and ITunes does not recognise my Apple ID is requests that I use that one which was originally used to purchase the software.  What should I do?

I have exactly the same problem. Unable to find answers. This is the message I am getting,"To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it".

  • Unable to update iphoto app

I tried to manually update the iPhoto by downloading the iPhoto 9.2.2 dmg file but I am getting this message,"The version of iPhoto installed on this Mac must be updated through the Mac App Store. Check the Mac App Store to see if an update is available." Does anyone know how to update the iphoto app thru the app store

Your Mac came with Mac OS X Lion and the iLife suite preinstalled. Did you ever accept the iLife apps into your Mac App Store account? If not, that is why you are having issues with upgrading.
One thing that you can try. Do you find this file on your Mac?
    Macintosh HD/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
If so, delete this file, restart your Mac and try downloading the software again following the Lion reinstallation instructions for the iLife apps.

  • Unable to update iPhoto on new Macbook Pro

I have a new MacBook pro and AppStore indicates that there is an update for iPhoto.  When I try to update iPhoto I get an error stating "to update this application sign in with the account you used to purchase it".
I did not register the first time I booted the MacBook so I am assuming that it must not know what Apple ID to use for the update, but I do have my apple id associated with my user account.  How do I get around this issue so I can update iPhoto?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Apple support suggested the following (which didn't work for me, but I'm sharing as they might work for others - I'll keep the post updated when I hear back, again):
    1) Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
    2) Enter your Apple ID and password.
    3) Click Purchases.
    4) If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them.
    5) Click Install to compete installation of your applications.
If this does not work, follow the instructions below and then repeat the steps above to accept the iLife apps again.
    1) Close the Mac App Store.
    2) In Finder, click on the Go menu.
    2) Click Go to Folder.
    3) Enter ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/
    4) Drag adoption.plist to the Trash.
    5) Relaunch the Mac App Store.
You should then be prompted to accept the apps for your current account.
If you are not prompted to accept the apps when you sign back in to the Mac App store and click on purchases, please contact us back.

  • Unable to update iPhoto in OS X Yosemite

I am now using OS X Yosemite, and I need to update iPhoto but when I try to click update in the App Store I get the following error message:
"Update Unavailable with this Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I have only used a single Apple ID since purchasing my Macbook, and have never had any problems purchasing or updating software. I do not see any reason why iPhoto would have been refunded or cancelled...
Any help is very much appreciated!

"Update Unavailable with this Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
That error message can be misleading. It means, that iPhoto on your Mac is not associated with your Apple ID.
Either you did not set up  your Mac using the same Apple ID - did someone help with your setup and use a different ID? Perhaps a family member? Or did you let someone borrow your installer disks?
Or did you not yet "Accept" iPhoto and other iLife apps to your Apple ID? Check the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, if any applications are waiting to be accepted. If you see "Accept" buttons, press them.
You may  be unable to "Accept" now, if you missed the update to iphoto 9.5.1 on Mavericks.
You could try to buy iPhoto, however. If you are lucky, it may show for free.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put it back,if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID problem as TD recommended. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

  • Unable to update iPhoto and iMovie since Mountain Lion and Mavericks

It has been over a year since it happens, I was hoping it could be solved after i updated to the new mavericks system..
"This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again. "
It has not been bothering me since the mountain lion, because although iphoto can't be updated, I was still able to use them and save all my photos.
Now after the new system update, iPhoto can not be opened unless it is updated
I do not want to lose all my pictures and videos that i have been saving there for over more than a year.

It means what it says: The apps were bought or installed by someone with a different ID to yours. So, in effect, these are belong to that person and you can't update them.
This can arise if you've bought a second hand machine, or if you've bought an open box machine, or even if the Mac was set up for you by the shop where you bought it. Or, if you used one Apple ID to set up the machine and are using a different one now. Of course, it can also be caused by installing pirated software.
    So, what to do:
Where did you get the machine? If it was second hand, or open box then you need to get back to the vendor.
If you used a different Apple ID then sign in with that one.
And, if the software is pirated then delete it and purchase legally.
    Other than that:

Can someone explain me what this error means? and what can i do to fix it?
    Thank you

  • Unable to update iPhoto 8.1.2

Nervous to update iPhoto due to reading so many issues with updates.  I have iPhoto 8.1.2 and MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.5  Both tell me there are no updates available.  Just went to an iPhoto class and I think that I have to update to get more functionality.  Not sure what to do.

It has been "installing" for over an hour.  No way to tell if it is.
What does the Launchpad show? If iPhoto is still installing, you should be seeing a progress bar on the Launchpad.
have you tried "Check for unfinished downloads" in the "Store" menu of the App Store?  If this does not help, delete iPhoto from the Applications folder, restart your Mac in Safe Mode, and try again to "get" iPhoto.
To restart in "safe Mode" see this link:   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode

You need to purchase iPhoto 9. It is a paid upgrade, not an update from 8.1.2
