Unable to update iPhoto software

Hi all
Every time I open iPhoto, it tells me there is a software update, however, when I click to downoad it, it doesn't appear in the software updates pane.
I went to the Downloads section and downloaded the update manually. When I attempt to open it, it says there is no elligible iPhoto application in the applications folder.
I checked my HD and there is only one copy of iPhoto but it is in the Applications folder.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

After assuring that iPhoto is in the root level of your Applications folder download it from Apple's download site and install manually: iPhoto 7.1.5
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Where are you updating from? The App Store? If so, contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window.

Yes. You can't update or restore any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone. The sim card need not be activated, but it must be valid & present. If you want to update, you need to get a sim card.

  • HT1338 I'm unable to update any software on my macbook air and iMac

I'm unable to update any software on my macbook air and iMac getting the following error "to update your software you need to sign in with the account you used to purchase it" any help is appreciated

Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
    1. Follow the instructions in the Apple Support article linked below:
Mac App Store: Cannot update App Store purchases or updates do not seem available
    2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
    3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
    4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
    5. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Then repeat step 4.
    6. Select
    Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
    7. Launch iTunes and select
    Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
    from the menu bar.
    8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications.

  • Unable to update my software version on Nokia 5800

    Hello Friends,
Ever found yourself in a situation where you are unable to update your software version...???
My current software version on my 5800 is v 20.0.012 and the software version date is 26-01-2009. I am unable to update it when I try to - It checks for updates, but then, it says no updates available - Kindly help
    Thanks in advance!

Is your phone network branded? Firmware updates for network branded phones have to approved by the network before they are released. Some networks are very slow to approve them and sometimes they don't bother unless someone chases them, So if your phone is branded, ring your network and give em hell.

  • HT1222 My iPhone is unable to update its software to iOS 5.1.1. Any solutions?

I got an error message saying that my iPhone is unable to update its software. The error message gives me the option to close the message or go to settings, so I click settings but it just goes back to the software update page. Any solutions?

"Unable to Install Update - An error occurred installing iOS 5.1.1." There, is that enough to get an intelligent response?

  • I upgraded to Mavericks, and now I am unable to update iPhoto. Please advise.

I searched thru the posts, found and tried the Sharing Prefernce solution, as well as attempted signing out and signing in of the App store, but I am still unable to update iPhoto after installing Mavericks. Anyone have another solution?

What version of iPhoto did you have before upgrading to Mavericks?  This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto are compatible with Mavericks.  It also indicates which versions qualify for a free upgrade to iPhoto 9.5.1 and which require a purchase:
Note 1:  every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2:  If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1.

  • I have an 1st generation ipad. I am unable to update the software beyond 5.1.1. Why?

I have an 1st generation ipad. I am unable to update the software beyond 5.1.1. Why? It tells me my software is up to date.

    Very possible.
You can often get the older version if you buy directly on the iPad
Go through the iTunes Store on your old iPad and purchase netflix, if you can get an older version of the app, iTunes will ask and prompt the download of older version.
Not all apps will be available.
I was able to put iBooks on my older iPod this way.

  • Unable to update iPhoto 9.0 to iPhoto 9.3

I downloaded Aperture 3.3. For it to work with iPhoto, I need to update my iPhoto 9.0 to 9.3. I am unable to do this, either from the app store or from Lion Software Update. Software Update says everything is up to date. If I try and download from the App Store, it says iPhoto is already installed. Also, iPhoto will not open because it needs to be updated. Please help. thanks, Kevin

    Go to

Find and download the 9.1 updater. Run it. Then Run Software update again.

  • Unable to update iPhoto in OS X Yosemite

I am now using OS X Yosemite, and I need to update iPhoto but when I try to click update in the App Store I get the following error message:
"Update Unavailable with this Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I have only used a single Apple ID since purchasing my Macbook, and have never had any problems purchasing or updating software. I do not see any reason why iPhoto would have been refunded or cancelled...
Any help is very much appreciated!

"Update Unavailable with this Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
That error message can be misleading. It means, that iPhoto on your Mac is not associated with your Apple ID.
Either you did not set up  your Mac using the same Apple ID - did someone help with your setup and use a different ID? Perhaps a family member? Or did you let someone borrow your installer disks?
Or did you not yet "Accept" iPhoto and other iLife apps to your Apple ID? Check the "Purchased" tab of the App Store, if any applications are waiting to be accepted. If you see "Accept" buttons, press them.
You may  be unable to "Accept" now, if you missed the update to iphoto 9.5.1 on Mavericks.
You could try to buy iPhoto, however. If you are lucky, it may show for free.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, but do not empty the Trash, so you can put it back,if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID problem as TD recommended. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
