Unable to Update iWeb page

I'm using iWeb '08. I have a couple pages, plus a podcast. After making changes on Sun, June 29 I have not been able to update. There isn't an error code, or reason from the program. It just says "unable to update .mac." Any ideas??

Hi,
you may want to have a look at this list here of things to try if one experiences publishing issues
http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebTroubleshoot1.html
Also there may be a problem with a change you made just before experiencing the problem.
You could try to temporarily deleting the changes and see whether this solves the problem or not. Be sure to make a backup of the Domain file before
Macintosh HD/Users/Your username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain

  • UPDATING IWEB PAGE TO  08'

    I updated to iLIFE 08' and updated my iWEB page with new widgets and Google Adsence, and i have a podcast on itunes and and itunes doesn't seem to get the update with all the new stuff on put on my iWEB page. is anybody having this problem, why isn't iTUNES getting for updated info from my iweb account

    iTunes doesn't read your web pages, only your .xml file. Is iTunes showing the latest episode(s)? If not then you need to make sure that the .xml file generated by iWeb is in the same location and has the same name as before, then iTunes will pick it up as before.

  • Unable to update the page name programmatically

    Hi,
    I'm trying to change the Page title through the program. It seems, its updating but when I actually open the page and see the page it is not showing the updated page title.
    Here is the code
    IPcdObjectFactory pcdObjectFactory =
              ((IPcdGlService) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IPcdGlService.KEY)).getPcdObjectFactory();
    IPcdAttribute newPcdAttr = null;
    newPcdAttr = pcdObjectFactory.createPcdAttribute(PcdAttributeValueType.STRING, "com.sap.portal.pcm.Title");
    if(att!=null && att.getType() == PcdAttributeValueType.STRING){
         newPcdAttr.set(0, new String("Test : Employé "));
    }else{
         newPcdAttr.set(pcdObjectFactory.getDefaultLocale(), new String("Test FR123: Employé"));
    ModificationItem[] mods = new ModificationItem[] { new ModificationItem(DirContext.REPLACE_ATTRIBUTE, (Attribute) newPcdAttr)};
    targetobject.modifyAttributes("", mods);
    If we add this page to a workset as a delta link & it should reflect the updated page name
    We are on EP6 SP12
    Thank you,
    Satya

    Hi Satya,
    Can you explain a little what is your intended result? Is not clear (to me anyway) if you want to change the text in the navigation, page title inside an iview or browser title.
    Things that might interfere with what you want to do independent of the intended result is:
    1. Navigation cache: check that is turned off.
    2. User locale vs. iView/Page default Locale. If they are not equal and you change a "translatable" value you could be changing it right but the user won't see it.
    3. Even with the cache turned off I see very dificult that you could see the titled changed if "something" doesn't trigger some kind of refresh.

  • Unable to publish iWeb pages to .Mac

    I have been using iWeb (version 1.1.2) quite happily for past two weeks and have successfully published to .Mac/Mobile Me. But today I have been having loads of trouble and have been unable to publish anything, although I can publish to a folder, which is of no use.
    When I try to publish I get the following types of messages:
    Publish error
    An error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site 5/Welcomefiles/navbaractive.png".
    or
    Publish error
    An error occurred while publishing file "navbar_active.png." Try choosing >Publish all
    Can anyone suggest a solution. This is driving me mad.
    Tony

    Let's not mince our words: the version of iWeb we are using is ****** and there is no help available anywhere on the Apple website. Check out my various posts on this topic. I am going to save my work to disks and will not renew my iDisk account in a couple of weeks.

  • Unable to update iweb

    First time shot at needing help with iweb. I have created my own iweb site and
    it is alive and well in cyberspace. However, after not having updated it for several months my link to do updating cannot find the site and will allow me only to create a whole new site and not update my existing one. As I mentioned
    the site is available but apparently not updateable. Any ideas? Thanks

    Issil,
    Welcome to the discussions.
    ...my link to do updating cannot find the site and will allow me only to create a whole new site and not update my existing one.
    Your site is accessible for updating only through the iWeb application itself. Everything iWeb uses to place your site on the .Mac server, including changes/updates, is kept in a single file called Domain. This file is located on your hard drive here.
    When you launch iWeb, if your previously published site does not appear in the Site Organizer, then it does not exist in the application's Domain file.

  • Trouble getting iWeb pages to hosting site

    I am having trouble getting my updated iWeb pages loaded to my GoDaddy hosting web site. Every time I update a page in iWeb and then upload the pages by ftp to Godaddy, the home page either does not show up or it is badly distored or botched. Godaddy says it is an iWeb problem. The guy said something about "scripting". I am lost and frustrated. Help please!
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the help. I have rebuilt the Index page, again. I tried the local folder, saved to Sites on the Mac. Then I uploaded just the index page directly to Godaddy using the ftp in my file manager, but this time nothing.
    I went back to the iWeb ftp to upload the Index page to the subfolder in my root directory on GoDaddy and moved all the files I could find to the root. THis time I have some of the elements of the index page in place (pictures, links) but none of the template background, colors, or fonts. All the other pages are OK.
    Here is my home page: http://www.hijinkscotties.com
    Did I miss an iWeb update that has changed anything in the program? Is this a scripting issue? (Whatever that means?)
    Thanks-

    And is there any way to sync all my purchases and accounts to just have one... It is a bit stupid that you dont even get a list of something of what account you may of used, or some kind of hint, so you could log on to the right account. I am really stuck ...
    Please Advise......

    You can't merge accounts. But you can check your purchase history:
    iTunes Store & Mac App Store: Seeing your purchase history and order numbers

    Also, what may seem stupid to you... may be a protection of privacy to others.

  • Can no longer update one of my iWeb pages (all others are working properly)

    I have an iWebsite with several pages. One of these pages is no longer working correctly. The page that is causing problems contains a series of text boxes and hyperlinks (which allow people to download PDFs). I can no longer update the vast majority of this page, nor can I see where the different text boxes start or begin. (I am currently only able to change the title, not the body.)
    When I go online to look at the actual published site, I am able to download all of the desired PDFs, however I cannot highlight or copy any of the text written on the page (this is not the case for the other pages of the website).
    I have updated this page several times over the last few years and have never run into this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong and/or how I might remedy the situation?
    Thank you in advance!!! Your advice is much appreciated!

    +You mean you can't see the text or can't see the text box sides and drag points?+
    +Do a Select All and see what you see.+
    When I select all I am able to see the text box that houses the body of the page.
    +What happens if you were to click in the center of the page and hit the delete key (you can always do an Undo command)?+
    Nothing happens. I can only delete the entire page (using the select all approach).
    +What happens if you click on the center of the page and drag to one side or another?+
    Nothing happens when I do this. I can move this main text box by moving each side individually.
    +I can see the text in the page's html file and it is an image file: http://web.mac.com/naomieisenberger/san/NaomiEisenberger_SAN_Papers_files/shapeimage1.png. If you go to the page it's a very fine, 1 pixel, image at the very top of the page. You'll see the cursor change to a magnifying glass. At that time click and drag to the desktop. It won't look like you're dragging anything till you get to the desktop.+
    Yes, this is the problem. This space is acting as if (or rather has been) converted to a graphic. Each reference listed on that page has been entered separately over time. It seems like the last time this section was updated it was saved as an image/graphic. I am not even sure how this would have happened or how to undo this issue. Do you know or have any further suggestions?
    Is there a way to view the html code on iWeb. . . to just work in code?
    +So you have to somehow figure out how to get it back to plain text. Do you have iWeb's preferences set to display the text image indicator?+
    Yes, there is a small yellow symbol.
    +You may have to create a new page to replace this one.+
    Thank you so much for all of the great advice!

  • I am unable to open certain pages on sites. I have to switch over to IE because the new Firefox update is not accomodated on their websites! When will this be fixed... sites included Ameritrade, FAFSA, and others...

    Question
    I am unable to open certain pages on sites. I have to switch over to IE because the new Firefox update is not accomodated on their websites! When will this be fixed... sites included Ameritrade, FAFSA, and others...

    First and foremost, you should update to 3.6.17 because the version you're running at the moment is insecure and exposes your system to attack. Update via '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''.
    That may even fix the problem since several minor bugs were also fixed in later versions.
    Similarly, after updating, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those which are necessary.
    If the problem persists, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.
    I didn't experience a problem myself accessing any of those sites you mentioned. See screenshot.

  • I am unable to update pages application on my preowned computer

    I am unable to update pages application on my preowned computer because the former owner's id and password are associated with it. Is there any way to upgrade the pages app?

    Thanks Neil. I guess would have to buy the app to do that. I bought the computer from a neighbor who is now deceased. Pages was already on it. When I try to update from the app store, even though I'm signed in, the update wants the neighbor's password. Any other ideas?

  • IPhoto Album updating iWeb Album page

    OK .. I'm lost! I created an iWeb Album page and a new matching iPhoto album to put the photos in. Now I've added new photos to the iPhoto album and they don't show up in iWeb. There is a lot of work on the iWeb page with a lot of descriptions etc and I don't want to have to delete the page and drag in the new updated album. What am I missing? How to I sync any newly added pictures in the iPhoto album with the iWeb album?
    Thanks...

    The iWeb pages don't automatically update like iPhoto Web Galleries do. You will have to add the new photos to the iWeb photo page and republish that page.
    If you were using a iPhoto Web Gallery in an iWeb page then all you would have to do is click on the publish button in iPhoto and the gallery would be updated when accessed via iWeb.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Iweb/ pages won't update to add new pics+info.

    Does anyone know why iweb will only update pages when it feels like it?
    I have tried clearing the cache, updating one page at a time, deleting pages...
    but it does't seem to work!

    Remember that this would be the case regardless of what tool you used. iWeb is uploading the information just like an FTP program would upload the information to any other host. Caching is what happens when you view content and it happens to any sites. I think iWeb's ease and quickness is a testament to how many people might not even understand the processes behind creating a web site, but are nonetheless able to turn out some impressive stuff!
    One thing I did to make sure I'm always getting the latest stuff is that I didn't visit my site right before publishing AND I didn't visit it until I'm sure there are no more major changes to make. This way, what gets cached will be the most recent info.
    It's not really a problem for me anymore as it appears that I could make a change now, refresh my browser, and it's there. But for you, wouldn't be a bad idea to pick that up as a habit.

  • Last time I updated pages I lost features I liked and was unable to open some pages files.  Now I see the features I liked are back but I have a lot more files to worry about.  Will I be able to open files created in 5.2 if I upgrade to 5.5.3?

    Within reason, Pages v5.2 documents are forwards compatible with Pages v5.5.3. Apple introduced the single file format document as a default with Pages v5.5.3 which is not backwards compatible with Pages v5 on Mavericks.
    However, they also provided a File > Advanced > Change File Type > {Single File, Package} menu that allows you to change the current Pages v5.5.3 document into the backwards compatible Package type document. You would follow this transformation with a File > Save operation to complete it.

    If you don't have the old computer's install disks, that is indeed the case.
