Unable to update P67A-G45

Hello all,
I have been running my P67A-G45 (B3) based system for over a year now with no issues. Every few months I check MSI's site for BIOS updates and have been flashing via the HP Flashdrive utility.   Ive used this method several times with no errors.
Im currently running BIOS 1.12 dated 7-22-2011 and I want to update to version 1.I
When I run the flash (booting into DOS via flash drive) I get the following error:
"ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID"
Is there something im doing wrong? or is the MSI website linking to the wrong BIOS?

This is weird. If you mentioned that you update your BIOS every few months, your last BIOS version should be version 1.H dated 13-01-2012.
For the board, P67A-G45 (B3), there was never an official BIOS of 1.12 dated 7-22-2011, the only two BIOS versions that were available between April to October were version 1.B dated 14-04-2011, and version 1.D dated 04-10-2011.
Check this link for all P67-G45 (B3) BIOS and release dates > http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-G45--B3-.html#/?div=BIOS
I suggest you double check your board details again.

  • MSI P67A-G45 (B3) - Problems with USB3 & Updates & card reader, etc.

Hi, I have the MSI P67A-G45 (B3) motherboard and I'm still having problems with it (as from day one).
    1) I still seem to have some problems with stability with the USB.  I updated the drivers for the Renesas USB to the latest (2.1.39.0) from the station-drivers website,
I was thinking of grabbing the firmware update as well.  But I wasn't sure if I should.  The page also shows firmware updates for uPD720200 & uPD720200a, and I'm not sure which one is in my motherboard.  Should I update?  If so, which one is in my MB, uPD720200 or uPD720200a?
    2) I'm also having trouble updating the Intel ME Driver and the Intel INF Update (although I'm googled that the INF update doesn't really matter).
    3) I can't seem to get the firewire port working with my WD Home 2TB external HDD (it works through USB though).
    4) I have an old internal flash card (SDHC/MS/MMC/etc.) reader from another desktop that I wanted to add to my MSI one.  Is it possible to do so?  Where would I plug it in?
    5) Is there anything else I need to update: software or firmware?  I've generally updated the stuff listed in the Live Update (except for the stuff I never installed).
Thanks.  Please answer any of the questions if you can.

    Update the firmware and re-test:
    >>Firmware and BIOSes<<
Scroll to the bottom of the page at that link and flash the USB controller firmware.
Thanks, Renesas update seems to have taken.  Let's hope it's more stable.
I have a Core i5-2500k Sandybridge processor.  Is there a point to me updating the BIOS & Management Engine to the latest?  The support page for my MB says don't bother unless I have an Ivybridge processor?

What PC is the card reader from? Some of those card readers such as from Sony & Dell will only work in the respective brand PCs they came from and not any other. I have one I removed from a Sony and it will not work in my rig. If the card reader is a normal 3rd party model purchased from a store it should work but may require drivers from the manufacturer of it. As far as plugging in a card reader they go to an internal USB header on the MB.
The old desktop was from computer maker Cisnet.
I plugged the 5-hole (or rather 4 holes, since one is blank) plug into JUSB1, but it seems to keep connecting and disconnecting in Windows 7 x64. Windows made drives for all 4 card slots, but whenever I put a memory card in, it would just connect and disconnect and the memory card would never show up.  Is it a driver problem?
It's a Foxconn internal card reader, except I can't seem to figure out which model it is despite googling (not indicated anywhere on the card reader).
Don't really want to cough up $15-$20 for a new card reader, so I'm hoping to get this one to work.  Thanks.

  • P67A-G45 Fan Control Problem After BIOS Update

My old BIOS version was 1.8. I could control my fans in BIOS(50-75-100% RPM). Also SpeedFan tool was working perfectly, I could change fan speeds freely.
I just installed MSI Live Update and tool updated my BIOS version to 1.E(CPU-Z says v1.14) without any problem. But when I entered BIOS/Hardware Monitor I saw that fan control is disabled. Both sys fan 1 and sys fan 2 are stuck in %65. SpeedFan doesn't working too.
CPU Smart Fan is okay, works fine but system fans are uncontrollable now.

    P67A-G45 3T drive only formatting to 746Gig
Converted partition to GPT, still 746Gig.  Saw other posts for firmware update to UEFI, but could not find that in my downloads for this motherboard.  About a year ago I updated my BIOS, and Live 6 Utility says that my system is up to date.  What am I missing?  Thanks for your help.

Thanks, yes I read that.  It was one of the few concise posts on the issue.  Once you got to the Intel site to get the driver.  Intel tells you"
    "IMPORTANT:
Before installing this application or requesting technical support from Intel, first contact your system manufacturer. They typically provide software which is specifically configured for your system. "
MSI has been updating other drivers even those that are from Intel.  Why is MSI not seeming to endorse the use of this driver?

Problem: Within days of building computer in January the computer started to automatically reboot seconds after shutdown or entering sleep mode.
    Attempted Fixes:
-Total re-install of Windows + BIOS
    -Updated BIOS via LiveUpdate
-Rolled back to initial BIOS that came with MB
-Changed between registry option of "PowerdownAfterShutdown" between "0" and "1"
    -Disabled Wake-Up Events in BIOS
-Changed to OS controlled Wake-Up events
-Changed "Restore after AC Power Loss" to off in BIOS
-Ordered a new PSU, replaced PSU
Regardless the fix, if I try to shutdown - the computer reboots within a few seconds.  If I try to put it in sleep mode, it boots right back up.  The only way to get the computer to shut off is by manually turning off the PSU.
I've seen that there have been frequent power-cycle issues with this particular motherboard in comments on newegg.com, just wondering if this issue has been encountered and if there is a fix available?

Is this with no case wire connections to any of the headers? i.e. if you start it by shorting the on/off pin headers with a screwdriver tip.
    Yeah, as shown here.
    http://www.computer-how-to-guide.com/motherboard-troubleshooting/motherboard-post-test-how-to/
Shorted on with flathead, boots up fine.  After flipping off the PSU to turn it off and then flipping the PSU back on, the dang thing waits a few seconds and boots right back up.  No short required.  At this point I think a ghost might be living in my computer.

  • Overclocking p67a-g45

    Hello, everyone,
I'm just assembled my new 2500k/p67a-g45 system, and I was looking forward to attempting OCing for the first time. According to all the guides, I should change the CPU voltage but there is no option to change it in the BIOS. Does anyone have this MB, and could they possibly point me to a solution? The BIOS version is latest - 1.E0. Thanks!

In a situation that a mainboard has no other option than the Auto (default) setting for CPU V., & a BIOS update is not offered to enable such a feature, then all one can do is OC to the highest multi that can be set that it will remain stable under load.

My friend recently purchased a second GTX 460 SE to use in SLI.  I installed it in his computer today and could not get SLI to function.  Operating system is windows 7.  I flashed the bios with the latest version as well as installed the latest drivers for the motherboard.  Tried reseating the graphics cards and the  SLI bridge multiple times.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia drivers multiple times, each time using driver sweeper after the uninstall.  I have read that this board does support SLI if you have all the drivers updated.  Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Forgot to add that both the cards do work.  I can switch the monitor between them and they work fine.  The nvidia control pannel and device manager show 2 cards but not in SLI.

  • P67A-G45 | Disk Error Occured.

    Hello everyone,
Just 2 days ago, i built up a new pc. i have to say, my IT knowledge is limited. A friend of mine helped me assemble the parts.
    Below are the specs:
    Motherboard: MSI P67A-G45
    Processor: Intel i5 - 2500k
    RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600MHz
Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 750W Core edition.
Graphic Card: Sapphire HD 6950 Toxic 2GB DDR5
    Hard Drive: HITACHI 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
    DVD Drive: Samsung S222 22x DvD+-RW (SATA)
(Hope i didn't miss anything out.)
    just my very FIRST time switching on my computer i get this message;
"disk error occured. press ctrl+alt+del to restart"
My BIOS recognize the hard drive. it showed up under the boot options.
after which, from the bios, i chose to boot from the Samsung DVD-drive (with Windows 7 OS installation DVD inside)
The setup started but it could not detect my hard drive.
i tried switching the SATA cables and power cables, the error still existed.
All the components are brand new.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT?
I am in dire need to play Battlefield 3! (the main reason i built this comp) hahaha
Thank you so much, in advance.

As of now, BOTH the options (ODD AND HDD) show up in the boot menu.
When I boot from ODD, it will run the windows 7 installation.
While running the installation, it cannot detect the HDD.
When it boots from HDD(by default), i get the disk error.
So i'd assume i do not have make changes to my ODD. it works fine.
Anyway, i am far from my comp now.
Once i tried all proposed measures, i will give you an update.
    Thank you so much!

  • MSI P67A-G45 (MS-7673) Blue screen problems

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums so pardon me if I'm doing this wrong or I'm in the wrong section.
I recently bought the P67A-G45 board in mid January.  Mainly, I wasn't having any problems, a few hiccups here and there which I solved by updating Bios/Chipset.  However, recently (past two-three weeks) I've been having troubles with Blue Screens.  These can occur anytime, sometimes while gaming, other times just browsing the web.  I have a few shots of the screens (bad quality, sorry):

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Is this the Mobo?  I've searched around, the error of IRQL... I'm told can be nearly anything...
I'm starting to get slightly frustrated, so I'm hoping you guys can help.

Let me know if I can provide anymore information.  I'll do my best to try and help.
    Thanks.

Is it an IDE or SATA drive, you can check in devicemanager.

Edit:  It could be the hard drive.  Everything on this PC is nearly new (within 5 months) albeit the Hard drive.  Is there anyway to see if thats what is actually causing the blue screens?
Download HDtune and let it check the disk, if it bluescreens whilst checking, it is probably your drive, but, more importantly, its to see if there are damaged sectors and thus see the status of you HDD. If the disk is damaged, best to back up all important data and get a new HDD.
To read the minidump from the bluescreen, I use Bluescreenview, its free.
The stop code from the minidump can then be used to look up what it is, on Microsoft.com or Google.

  • MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155, High temperature of a chipset mainboard

    Hi!
Under "serious" appendices, the chipset is heated to 90-95 degrees

And specifications it is possible to look at tests under the reference:

    The 48C sounds more acceptable.
If you ever flash the BIOS again, then use the forum flasher. With Live update you have a good chance of bricking the board. >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

  • P67A-G45 (B3) - i7-3770K BIOS compatibility

    Hi there,
I'm about to be given a P67A-G45 (B3) by a friend, I'm looking to buy an i7-3770K. I've no idea what version of the BIOS is going to be installed as it may not have been updated.
Am I likely to run into issues if it's the stock BIOS? Will I need to update somehow?
Thanks for your help in advance,
    Dan

If the current bios doesn't support Ivy Bridge the board won't even post if you put a 3770K in there. No bios out of the box supports Ivy Bridge so without it having been updated you are out of luck. You need a Sandy Bridge cpu to do it yourself or ask a PC-shop to do it for you.

  • Overclocking issues with p67a-g45

I am unable to get a decent manual overclock with this board. The OC GENIE overclock is about the best stable OC I can get which is only 4.2ghz and this processor should reach much higher. Anyways here are my specs:
    i7-2700k
    2 x 4gb G Skill 1866 9-10-9-28
    Gigabyte HD6850 OC
    2 x Vertex 3 SSDs in raid 0
    700 watt PSU
    Thermaltake Frio CPU cooler
    P67A-G45 Mobo
I've got the newest version of the Bios-5.3 which I've been unable to find much documentation or guides for. Any help would be appreciated!

Basing on experience, the latest bios are only best used when running Ivy Bridge cpu.  With my i5 2500K before, I didn't have any issues overclocking it at 4.3ghz [Auto V] using official 1.J0 Bios until I upgraded to 4.xx bios.  I couldn't overclock it at all.  I went back to Bios 1.J0, problem solved.  Since your using Sandy Bridge cpu, I suggest you do the same.  I am using P67a-GD65 which is simply an older brother of your board.
Btw, my settings when I was running i5 2500K.  Hope it helps, good luck!

  • OSX: Adobe Creative Cloud unable to update (stall at 50%)

    Hey experts,
ever since signing up for Creative Cloud I have been unable to update any application as my regular user on OSX. After exchanging 23 emails with the Adobe support in 2013 I finally gave up and created a workaround in the hope that the Adobe developers would finally look into the issue and fix the bug. With the last update of Creative Cloud my workaround stopped working so I took time to do a complete reinstallation of Creative Cloud to see if the bug was finally fixed. It was not.
    The bug:
-Installation of Creative Cloud and Photoshop, Lightroom etc. through the Creative Cloud app works.
-Any try to update a CC applicaton (e. g. Photoshop CC 2014 results in the state "waiting" at 50%):
-Trying to update through the menu of Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 "Aktualisierungen"
resulted in the following error message:
Translation: "Update failed. Unable to apply updates. Adobe Application manager is already running. Close all instances of Adobe Application Manager before applying updates. etc."
What I tried to resolve the problem:
    What did not work:
    -Complete reinstallation of Creative Cloud:
         -Uninstall of all Adobe applications
-Ran the Adobe CC Cleaner tool
-Eliminated every single *[Aa]dobe*-folder on my disk including my profile.
         -Reboot
-Re-installation using a fresh CC download.
-The common 1st-level-support acts of desperation:
         -Rebooting
         -Checking the file system
         -Fixing permissions
-The bug even survived 2 OSX system upgrades
-Even tried to track down the bug myself which I gave up after having discovered the endless chain of Creative Cloud and AAM-Processes executing each other...
    What worked:
-Installing updates as another OSX user. (Which is cumbersome and to be honest I am unwilling to create a new profile and redoing the settings of all installed (especially non-Adobe) applications because of an Adobe bug...)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
