One post its more than enough, do you have a firewall or antivirus that might be blocking bridge? I have the Xperia Z1 and Z and they connect fine

Apple techs and now the engineers have been unable to resolve the issues thus far, even after several hours of phone support over the course of several months (about 5 hours this month alone). I have done everything they've suggested, even when they've suggested I do something over again, and I'm becoming frustrated. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer.     Sorry for hijacking your thread as put by Dahveed. However I have resolved my issue so I thought I'll share it with the rest of you.
    I checked for the error 3194 in youtube and I found some good videos that tell you how to resolve the problem. The issue I was facing was the actually (I know because I have resolved it now) the communication between my computer and apple server which can be fixed as following (if you are using windows):
    There is file in following directory:
    C:\Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
    The file normally has no extension and it is in file format. You need to open it and make sure that every line that has apple server id starts with "#". In my case one of the line started directly with the ip address and then gs.apple.com.
    Perform your restore/update after that and hopefully it should be resolved (mine did).

    ok, it wasn't formed as a question, but I was asking:
    Is AppleStore/iTunes store operating normally
    If so, why are ALL of my devices unable to update software.. (assume this needs more information)
    This started 3 days ago now, and I thought "if AppleStore is down, this will be newsworthy" but I didn't see anything on the news.. so I posted here.
    So are there any diagnostics one could run to check whether this is a fault in my network - due to some particular reason.. specifically with the AppleStore?
    One user (my daughter) was able to download and watch episodes on her AppleTV.. my son tried using GPRS to update his device but experienced the same "block".. Several devices are trying to update software in the house.
    I've reset the network (router to ISP) but all my other activities are running normally, including on these devices.
    Google Earth is refreshing maps, (in fact, Apple Maps is refreshing maps).. so seemingly everything is normal.. until I ask to update a program or download one.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse.     Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. 
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands. 
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply. 
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways: 
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.) 
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens. 
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid. 
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign. 
    Step 1 
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:

    Step 2 
    Repeat with this line:

    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. 
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step. 
    Step 3 
    Repeat with this line:
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit

    Step 4

    Remember, Steps 1-4 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output. 
    You can then quit Terminal.

    Before you buy anything, first make sure your Mac is compatible.
    Minimum specs for Snow Leopard.  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -   Read the Technical Specifications
    Buying Snow leopard from Apple.        Last I read, you must call them (1-800-MY-APPLE). It is $29 plus tax for family pack and $19 plus tax for a single.  You can also buy through your National Apple help number.
    Once you have it you must update using the ...

    I can't update my software on desktop software for mac.
    Whenever it start to back up, it will crash down when it gets to backing up "Social Feeds." 
    Then, it said the device is disconnected while I didn't touch the plug at all.

    This is my first time on blackberry forums some I am unsure of the etiquette, I dont have a solution but I have the exact same problem, I just upgraded to mountain lion from snow leopard, I had no problems with blackberry desktop software on snow leopard with my bb 9790. Now with mountain lion I cannot back up my 9790 or my playbook. With my 9790 the same thing happens, device gets really hot and battery dies and software says I am not connected despite password prompting me initially for my 9790 device password .
    I think this is a problem on Apple's side, this is just me speculating and not actually knowing.
    I wish I could be more helpful - I hope a blackberry/cynical mac os x mountain lion user can offer some sage advice.

    I just got my PB today.  I have followed all the setup steps until software update.  I kept getting "Unable to download software update."  I have perfectly fine WIFI connection at home.  I even tried put it next to the router.
    The current OS version is 1.0.0.1439, and trying to download version 1.0.3.1868
    I have retried many times and couldn't do anything other than "Restart", "Retry" and "Turn Off"
    This Software Update step should have a skip button instead of trying to update as unless the update is complete you just cant use the device...its quite frustrating.

    Can you change your router settings from secure mode to OPEN. This will only be a temporary change. Go into your computer settings for Wireless Network, click on Properties and somewhere there you may have a Security Setting such as WPA which can be changed to OPEN. Once set to open, try the download. Try it and report back.

  • Stupidly updated software from Mac for my iPhone now i cannot activate my phone

    Hi there, i stupidly updated software for my phone on my computer (being in a rush & not thinking) now ive had to reset my phone. But i don't use my iCloud email address as my AppleID I have always used my personal one, which i obviously don't remember the password or the actual email address to even get on. When i go to iCloud on my work Mac i log in with what i know is my Apple ID account fine (but my phone is not on there to erase? only my mac book)
    so here in point form:
    1. I dont know my iCloud email or password. (never used it only my Apple ID which to me is my personal account)
    2. This is my first iPhone & its brand new, so no previous owner.
    3. When i log onto my iCloud on my mac at work with my personal email settings it logs on fine but under all devices it only has my mac book pro & no contacts or anything? (so i cannot even erase my phone there)
    really frikken annoyed with myself & just want it to be fixed!

    I updated software yesterday or two days ago. Ever since then my mac has been so loud.
    I turned it off a few times and restarted it, but it is the same.
    I guess its the fan that is making this noise, but really annoying me. Any suggestions?

    FAQ tells me that updater is not supported on Mac or Linux...any ideas on how I update my 6120 software without a PC? Also updater tells me there is a recent update for my phone however there seems to be no option for the 6120 in the list of devices. I'm hoping the software update will fix a documented problem of the phone ringtone and voice mic randomly muting.

    If you don't have access to any Windows PC's then your only option to get it updated is to visit a nokia care point/service centre. Updates are free whilst the phone is under warranty and usually done while you wait.
    The 6120c is supported by the updater and a new update was released recently (unless you have a network branded model).

    After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with device errors. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
    iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    Symptoms
    Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
    Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
    Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
    Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
    Does not start up past Apple logo
    Appears frozen or unresponsive
    Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
    Resolution
    If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
    If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected,  restart your device.
    If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),  reset your device.
    If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
