Unable to update - stuck on 10.4.0?

Here's my problem:
I just bought a year-old used iMac G5 1.8 GHz and set it up for myself. I started by doing an 'Erase & Install' of the 10.3.5 that came with the iMac. I then ran my Tiger 10.4.0 retail install DVD and upgraded the machine to 10.4.0. So far, everything's great.
I then run Software Update, and it does not find any of the OS Updates (10.4.1 - 10.4.5).
I've tried all of the following:
- download and install 10.4.1 update
- download and install 10.4.3 Combo update
- download and install 10.4.5 Combo update
Each of these says the system does not meet the requirements. I've also tried doing a 'Tiger' only installation off the Tiger DVD and then updating, but the same thing happens.
The strangest thing is that the installation and updates worked absolutely fine on the machine I'm upgrading from, an iMac G4. The old iMac G4 is at 10.4.5. Also, everything seems to be working just fine on my 'new' iMac G5, except that the OS (and all apps that are tied to it) are stuck on 10.4.0.
Any help would be appreciated!
iMac G5 1.8 GHz 20"   Mac OS X (10.4)

The first thing i would do would be to check the
HD\Library\Reciepts
folder and see what is registering there, the patches might already be registered, if so you can delete them and it will redetect and reinstall, the package.
Next, is this a retail dvd that came with another computer if so it will detect this and not install because of licensing issues.
Finally, this is the nuclear option.
0) back up your home directory.
1) power the computer while holding the cmd opt o f keys, this will take you to the open firmware prompt,
type
reset-nvram
reset-all
Next locate the logic board reset button on your mac.
press and hold it for 10 missisipies
boot from the DVD install disk,
Select the options menue and disk utilities
Repartition and format the drive,
reinstall OS X
If this dosent work nothing will.

My I-Pad Mini initiated an Update, got stuck and now I can't Stop, Reset or Delete either the App or Update. I'm also unable to Update anything else!! Please HELP?

Now, I find myself unable to update my version of Itunes. it asks me if I wish to update the version, I say yes, and then nothing happens.
With that one, I'd try updating using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file, downloaded from the Apple Website:

I had the same problem. It appears that the servers chuck a hissy fit if you don't download your purchases in a timely fashion. I used the 'report a problem' feature in my iTunes account to contact customer support via email. They replied about 24 hours later, reset my download cue and the problem has now been resolved.
Hope this helps you solve your issue.

And is there any way to sync all my purchases and accounts to just have one... It is a bit stupid that you dont even get a list of something of what account you may of used, or some kind of hint, so you could log on to the right account. I am really stuck ...
    Please Advise......

You can't merge accounts. But you can check your purchase history:

Besweet, I'm having the very same problem with 60GB colour which was bought new and worked for 6 months before suddenly just not being recognised by PC. I hadn't changed anything at all.
I've followed all troubleshooting advice and reinstalled and updated iTunes and iPod updater software but all troubleshooting routes seem to hit the dead end of either the need to access the iPod via the PC (which isn't possible as it's not showing up at all) or the iPod in disc mode stuck at "ok to disconnect".
It's still under 1yr warranty so will have to take to a dealer.
I'm sorry that's not much help for you but at least you know it's not a unique problem.

  • Unable to update objects in console (hangs on "apply")

    Hi,
I seem to be unable to update, create or delete any objects in SCCM console. For example, I can open properties of an existing application, enter some values, but when I click on "Apply", the console hangs and seems to be stuck in that state
forever, but no application crash. If I kill SCCM console task, reopen console and check the properties again, nothing was updated. I am also unable to create new collections, the wizard just seems to work forever (without freezing).
I rebooted our SCCM site server several times and also restarted SQL service (which is running on another server), but no luck.
Under site status, I can't find anything that seems to be related to the issue. I'm unsure what log file to check, has anybody an idea?
I recently uninstalled SUP and WSUS, maybe this is related?
    Thanks!

I got this error as a pop-up today for the first time. I updated a value in the properties dialogue of a collection. Did this two times before today, both times nothing happened for about one hour and then the change was commited. Third time I got this:

  • I am unable to update my credit card is there a way to have my account reset

I am unable to update my credit card is there a way to have my account reset

    Yes there is!
Despite its flashy features and not being a standard beige box, Apple's iPad is a computer just like a laptop or desktop. And, just like laptops and desktops, sometimes iPad apps freeze, and the iPad gets stuck along with them. To fix this, you need to reset the iPad.
Begin by pressing the hold and home buttons at the same time. The hold button is the one on the top right corner of the iPad. The home button is the round one at the bottom center of the iPad's front
Continue to hold these buttons until one of two things happen: either the screen will flash and go dark, or a red slider will appear at the top of the screen
If the slider appears, you can slide it to the right to turn off the iPad (or tap the cancel button if you change your mind)
When the iPad's screen goes dark, the iPad is off
Restart the iPad by holding down the Hold button until the Apple icon appears. Let go of the buttons and the iPad reset will be complete.
Resetting the iPad shouldn't normally cause you to lose and data or settings.

  • Apple tv unable to update

Ever since i updated to mountain lion, my apple tv is unable to update?  apple tv shows that an update is available, tries to update, estimated VERY long time for the update, gets started, then bombs.
also...i can no longer play shows that i purchased through apple tv. they get started but then get stuck streaming.
    what's up apple? please help

other times it was suggested to disconnect all cables. Obtain a micro USB and connect the computer to the apple TV via cable. Use iTunes to download and install update once the apple TV is recognized by iTunes.
I have several micro USB cables but not the kind on this device. Who would have thought so many different micro USB cables out there.

  • Yosemite 10.10.3 update stuck on 'less than a minute remaining' for 2 hours encounting?

Yosemite 10.10.3 update stuck on 'less than a minute remaining' for 2 hours encounting?
    Anyone else having this?
Shall I just wait or can i force shut down or anything like that?
    Thanks.

I ended up having to force quit by holding down the power button after waiting 4 hours to see if it would resolve itself an load.
Wouldn't boot up properly, seemed to be stuck on the new apple logo with loading bar below so forced quit again and tried to restore form a time machine back up by holding cmd+R on restart. It said it was unable to do this so restarted again and it eventually started as normal and I was running 10.10.3 although I wasn't sure if the install was done correctly so did complete a restore from a time machine back up.
I think I will wait for another .1 update or just try again at a later date maybe.
    Thanks.
