Did you purchase Lion (10.7) from the App Store did you then download and install it?

  • Why can't I migrate from an iPhone 3GS to a 4GS using iCloud Backup/Restore?? (Says incompatible.)

Why can't I -simply- migrate from an iPhone 3GS to a 4GS using iCloud Backup/Restore??
(The 4GS says it's incompatible with 3GS iCloud Backups and so it cannot restore them.)
I've had to use a computer with iTunes, but surely iCloud can be used fior this?

You need to update your 4 to newer software to restore from icloud back up, until then you will get incompatible message. So steps are - set up your iphone 4 as new. Update. Erase. Restore from cloud backup. If you update does not take long you should be all set within an hour.

  • Unable to update my iPhone 4 from IOS 5 to IOS 7.1

When I try to update my iPhone 4 from IOS 5 to IOS 7.1, via the phone itself or via iTunes, it says that the update failed, but does not give a fail number that I could check.

Just managed to upgrade after the 5th attempt.

  • Unable to update 5.0.1 or 6.0.1 Download spins indefinitely using OSX10.6.8

I have been unable to update the 2 latest versions of Firefox.
    I'm using OSX 10.6.8
I get a warning that one of my add-ons (Contribute) is not compatible and will not appear on my menu bar.
Then the download scroll just spins and spins.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Updated to IOS5, setup won't let me select "don't use iCloud" option

Hi, I just upgraded my iPad 1 to IOS 5.  All went well, except on initial setup, it will not allow me to select "Don't Use iCloud".  It allows me to select "Use iCloud and moves me to the next screens, until I get to the "Find My Ipad" screen, where it will not allow me to use either "Find" or "Don't Find".
I think I'm stuck.  I don't want to connect to iCloud at this time, but even if I try to set it up just to get through initial setup, I get stuck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

  • How do I transfer my music from my macbook pro to my iPhone using iCloud

I have set up iCloud on my macbook pro and iPad2. But I cannot transfer all of my purchased apps and music to my iPad. I also cannot transfer my iTunes purchases from my macbook pro to my new iPhone 4S. How do I get iCloud to do this?  Have I missed a step activating iCloud?

You don't use iCloud for this. You do it with iTunes.
On your iPhone 4s you need to use the same Apple ID for the iTunes Stores that you use on your Macbook Pro. Your iCloud ID can be different for syncing calendars, mail, etc. but in the iTunes stores on your phone, it needs to be the same Apple ID that you bought the apps/music with.

  • HT201317 Is there a way to move photos from iPhone to a memory card without using iCloud

Is there a way to move photos from iPhone to a memory card or computer without using iCloud?

Yes.  You can import them from your camera roll using your usb cable, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
If you need to import photo stream photos, save them to the camera roll.

  • Unable to update my Ipad 2 from version 7.1

I have not been able to update from IOS 7.1, I originally tried to do it using WIFI, (also have Ipad mini this did it no problem).  Last week I received IOS 8.1 for loading (bearing in mind that I have tried unsuccessfully to load everything in between).  So I decided to try to do it via ITunes, after checking that I have the most recent ITunes loaded, I proceeded to follow the instructions.
When I connected the ipad to my PC, It prompted me to upload the newer version, so I just clicked on this.  and the bar at the top of the screen said that it would take 8 hours (even though we have a reasonably fast broadband system).  So I left it going, Needless to say it did not work.
I have tried all of the following on both my desktop which runs on windows 8.1, and also my laptop which runs on windows vista
I have read various responses within the community area and have tried the following
    1. Removed  ITunes and reinstalled
    2. Found the old backup file (in users/appdata/roaming/applecomputer/mobilesync/backup)on the computer and removed this from this area (both pc's state that this Ipad has not been backed up onto this computer, if that's the case, why is the backup file in place?
    3.  Gone into store and made sure that the PC is authorised and re-entered this info.
    4.  Transferred purchased apps to my iTunes library
    5.  Shut down and rebooted both Ipad and PC
    6.  Removed screen saver on computers and ipads, so that it does not cause the process to stall
We have no problem in carrying out a backup to icloud
Rather than try to run the full upload again I have just been trying to carry out a backup to PC, but despite doing each of the above at a different time, I have still not been able to succeed.
The only thing that I have not yet done, and I am seriously considering is to reset my ipad.  But even if I do, surely it will still try to do a backup to the computer, prior to it loading IOS 8.1

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
    To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
    Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
    To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.
     Cheers, Tom
