Unable to update to Build 9879

Hi,
Can someone please assist.  When I go to PC Settings, Update and Recovery and click on Preview builds and Check Now, I get the message that there are no new preview builds available.  I am running the Enterprise build of Windows 10 Technical Preview.
Regards,
Riaan

Hi David,
Thanks for the proposal.  By default the setting is set to Fast.  I have tried both settings and still receive the same message.  Could it be something on my work proxy server?
EDIT:  Seems that the update to build 9879 for Windows Technical Preview for Enterprise was not released.  I change some registry settings to test this theory and I immediately got the New Preview build available message.
EDIT: Switched back the registry entries and now it's downloading the latest preview.
Thank for the assistance.

Riaan

You said you unable to upgrade your Windows 10 to 9926 edition, even the clean install. Is there any error message when you making clean install failed?

  • Unable to upgrade to build 9879 from 9860 Error 0x80246007

I have tried over 5 times to upgrade to build 9879 and it hangs after the second reboot and I have the setup file on onedrive if someone would be able to take a look at it and let me know what I can do to fix this. Much thanks!

    Hi cheatcountry,
    0xC1900101- 0x40017  - MOSETUP_E_SETUP_PLATFORM
The setupact.log is a record collection of all processes, we may check the migration fault, but we may not find the specific driver in it.
I would look into this log if you upload in forum:
    %windir%\Panther\Setupact.log
    C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\Setupact.log
This error is caused by a faulty driver. The graphic card driver could cause such issue indeed. I suggest you update to the latest version, the best way is to confirm it is supported in Windows 8.1 officially.

  • New update for build 9879

Go to your Windows Update > click " Check for updates " > if you see KB3019269, install it.
It is to fix  blue screen issue.

Does yours do the same when you repeatedly tap android version in settings it plays the old jellybean mini game? Also the sd card error is so annoying Really thought the last update would have fixed alot of the issues.

  • Build 9879 Hard Disk Failure

Updated to build 9879 with no problems from build 9860.    However, I powered down and restarted the next morning to find "Disk Boot Failure - Insert system disk".    Whatever I tried to see inside the disk failed
because it wasn't recognised in the BIOS, so that disk is a goner.     I downloaded the 9879 iso file for Enterprise and installed that on a separate disk and it was fine while the system was up but after a power-down it showed the same
problem, so that's a second disk down the tubes.     Anyone else had similar problems?

Thank you for the reply.   Both drives which failed were Samsung HD103SJ's and have proved really reliable through their lives (both are about2/3 years old).   I run them on a Gigabyte GA 790XTA UD4 motherboard, Northbridge AMD 790X,
Southbridge SB750 (though Speccy says SB700),Award Bios F4 revision, Marvell 9128 controller, storage controller driver is spaceport.sys.    I run four disks in the same system and always exclusively, i.e. no dual booting or powering up together
at the same time, all in AHCI mode, two running Windows 7 and Windows 8, and the two as spares for testing/backup storage purposes (the two that failed).
So nothing unique.    As both drives are not recognised in BIOS and both showing "Disk boot failure", I haven't had the time yet to attempt a Linux live CD to see if it will restore recognition to BIOS, nor the time to try them in
my other system (expect blue screens or non-recognition initially).   I do see that MS have issued an update on build 9879 which deals with perhaps this problem of power-down-to-oblivion but I do need to get these drives recognised pretty soon as
I have no others for testing.     Thanks again for your time in replying.

  • Download size and install size of Build 9879

I am a little short on harddisk space. How much space is needed to download and update to build 9879?

RE : How much space is needed to download and update to build 9879?
The download size will be between around 2 or 3 GB depending upon the computer architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) and system language.
RE : I am a little short on harddisk space
Have you deleted the Windows.old ? You can save up a huge amount of disk space.
    What is windows.old ?
Windows.OLD folder is often created during an upgrade of Microsoft's operating system from one version to another. It contains files from your previous installation of Windows, which were either not required or can't be used with the new version.
You don't need to keep these unless something has gone wrong with the upgrade and you need to roll back to your previous version.
    How to delete Windows.old ?
Most people will tell you use the built-in Disk Cleanup application.
I find it a whole lot more easier and actually faster using Ccleaner. Ccleaner is a free program. It is widely used and recommended.
How to use Ccleaner to remove Windows.old ?
Open Ccleaner > left side, make sure you are at windows tab > scroll down to Advanced > check the box " Old Windows Installation" > right side, click Analyze > when done it will tell you how many GB of space will be removed which
means how many GB you will get back for use > click Run cleaner. That is you are done.
Screenshot shows what I had saved from previous OS installation.

  • Update from build 9860 to 9879 breaks permissions

After windows 10 applied the update from Build 9860 to 9879, I have experienced a host of problems that appear to be due to broken filesystem permissions caused by the update process itself -:
    # Onedrive keeps crashing when asking to configure itself
    # Modern UI apps all fail to load with the "application does not support the contract specified" or stating Windows cannot find ""
Trying to fix the filesystem permissions also seems to make things worse -:
    # You cannot change/modify permissions at all on C:\Program Files
    # Trying to restore the C:\Users permissions as suggested in a Miscrosoft document to fix Modern UI apps causes even more permission problems, such as Internet explorer not functioning. I have had to give my user account explicit full control on the
folder to even be able to use the PC at all.
It would be good if Microsoft could provide a "FixIt" to correctly set the permissions on these locations, but more importantly fixed the update process to not break them in the first place.

I did a reinstall which was working OK - until I installed the visual studio c++ runtime(s). I have installed the 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2013 ones but am unsure which has caused this breakage but am now getting the same contract messages and am
unable to launch any metro apps again?

  • Getting error 0x80248008 updating from build 9860 to 9879

I have build 9860, and I'm trying to update to the newer build:
In the Preview Builds UI, I click Install now
Within about 5 seconds it fails and displays the message "Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80248008" (screenshot below).
Rebooting doesn't help. Any suggestion about what to try to fix this?

Assuming that you have all windows updates installed.....
Would you care to do a clean install by downloading build 9879 Enterprise ISO, burn it to a bootable DVD or Flash Drive and then install ? Enterprise version has everything in a non- enterprise version plus a few extra features geared towards business
people. You don't have to use them at all.
I am using it now ...... in my home computer.
If that is acceptable, here are the links :

  • Unable to Update, or access PC Settings and Windows Feedback

Twice now I have had issues with File Explorer not working. I am unable to open it until I restart the computer.
This issue, however, is how I found out that I cannot open PC Settings or the Windows Feedback app. PC Settings will "open" but the window will not come up and I am unable to switch to it. The feedback app simply won't open. Clicking it does nothing.
I saw that some people were able to fix issues by running the update, but attempting to update through the start menu (bypassing opening PC Settings) gives me the following error: "This app does not support the contract specified or is not installed."
It sounds to me like I need to repair/reinstall Windows 10 but I am not sure where or how.

Assuming you are running build 9879.Here are the links to download build 9879 ISO, then burn the file to a bootable DVD, and finally use the DVD to do a clean reinstall of 9879...............

  • I am unable to update, uninstall, or reinstall iTunes on my laptop.  Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits.  Error code is 2330.  Can somebody please help me?

I am unable to update, uninstall, or reinstall iTunes on my laptop.  Everything was working fine until recently when there was an update available for iTunes, and when I tried to update this, I got the message, "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.  This may indicate a problem with this package. Error code is 2330."  Can somebody please help me?
    System configuration:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits.
    Version:  6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
    System Directory:  C:\Windows\system32
    RAM:  1.00 GB.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • I am unable to update/restore my iPhone on my MacBook after attempting to downgrade iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2

I am unable to update/restore my iPhone on my MacBook after attempting to downgrade iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2. I am currently running iTunes 10 on my MacBook right now because it was my only option to get iTunes back on my MacBook. Everything is fine with syncing my device but the only problem I keep encountering is the restoring and updating options. When I restore my device it tells me that It could not be restored at this time. When I update it, iTunes tells me that it cannot complete the current build. I know for a fact I am missing some files that were deleted when I attempted the downgrade. Anybody know what files I am currently missing that is causing this?

  • Feedback app says I need to be logged in (Build 9879)

After the 9879 Build update when I open up the Feedback app it says; To use Windows Feedback, you must be registered with the Windows Insider Preview Programme , and connected to the Internet the first time you run the feedback

  • Unable to update record in web Form

Hi, i am unable to update record in a form. I am building a custom form using forms 6i and putting it on the web in oracle applications 11.5.9
I used template.fmb as a starting point for my form. I have one datablock based on a table. Insert, update and delete properties are set to yes on the property pallete of data block. The table against which i am running the form has a primary key which is a combination of two fields. I am able to update a record with pure SQL running against the table.
My form now brings back a record from the db like it should but whenever I try to update that record either by pressing Action Save or by clicking button that has update statement in it, instead of doing an update, it does an insert and tells me that this record already exists and that i entered value(s) that must be unique for each record. It thinks I want to insert but I want to update. What am i doing wrong???
Update allowed value is set to Yes in all the items in the data block and at the data block level as well. Querly_only is set to no.
What's even more frustratinng is that I've ran the form manually before starting with template.fmb and have been able to update the table but when I put it on the web and used template.fmb it stopped working!
I am very new to forms, can anybody suggest anything? Please help!!!

When you populate the 2nd block with a select into query, it's the same as just typing the data into the block. The record is treated as one needing to be inserted, not as one that is queried.
To populate it using a true query, but with data from the LOV, you can do this:
Programmatically set the default_where clause of the block based on the LOV. For example, if a name is chosen from the LOV in an item called LOV1, you could do:
    set_block_property('block2','default_where','name='''||:block1.lov1||'''');
or if the LOV is a number, like a department number:
    set_block_property('block2','default_where','deptno='||:block1.lov1);
The tricky part when you build your where clause is that you must surround strings with single quotes, and the way to do this is to use two single quotes to represent an actual single quote in the where clause. Otherwise a single quote is interpreted as part of the PL/SQL syntax.
Then, just navigate to block 2 and execute a query:
    go_block('block2');
    do_key('execute_query');
I hope this works for you. I didn't have time to test this, so I hope I didn't make any syntax errors when typing.
