Unable to upgrade ITunes - Error 2330

Has anyone received this error 2330? I can no longer use my Itunes icon and am unable to upgrade itunes.
Thanks.

Has anyone received this error 2330?
That one is usually caused by a damaged program file, or disk damage in the vicinity of that file.
A 2330 error message usually cites a specific file and the file path of that file, including the drive that the file is stored on. Try running a chkdsk over the drive with the drive letter mentioned in the 2330 message.
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly afterwards?

  • Unable to upgrade iTunes due to network error, wont read .msi file

    Hi
I'm trying to upgrade iTunes on my windows PC and during the installation I get an error message saying "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\itunes.msi".  Also when I plug my ipad in to the PC to synch with itunes - it will not read the ipad until I have updated the itunes.
    Help please.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Uninstalling and Installing iTunes - Error 2330

I wanted to upgrade to iTunes 9.2 and started this via the upgrade option in iTunes. At the end of the install i got Error 2330 and the install rolled back. Tried to uninstall iTunes and got the same error message at the end of the uninstall. Tried to download 9.2 from Apple website and install that - same error message. Followed various suggested fixes, including deleting iTunes folder from Program Files and tried again but i still get the same error message.
Can anyone help me sort out this mess?
    Many thanks

Sorry about the delay, grumps. I've been brooding.
Okay ... we'll proceed on the assumption that you've got a damaged AAS file or directory, and that you've got either an AAS 1.0.1 or 1.1.0 in place, and the disk/file damage is enough to trigger the early-version-of-AAS bug where if a program file was missing from AAS, the AAS installer returns the missing .msi message.
Although I never had to employ it out here in the forums, I had a plan mapped out for how I was going to deal with it if it ever cropped up for someone.
Unfortunately, that plan has gotten more difficult to implement, because it involves the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, and Microsoft pulled the utility from their Downloads Center on June 25. So first we have to hunt down a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for *at least version 3.0* of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Application Support* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Now we'll have to try to get the damaged AAS program files out of the way, so we don't get caught by the 2330 again.
In My Computer, open Local Disk C: (or whichever drive your program files are installed on).
    Open the Program files folder.
    Open the Common files folder.
    Open the Apple folder.
Right-click on the *Apple Application Support* folder, and select "Delete". If Windows won't let you delete the folder, try instead renaming the folder *Apple Application SupportOLD*
After deleting/renaming the folder, empty your Recycle bin and restart the PC.
After the PC restart, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 2330 this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Unable to upgrade iTunes 10.1 or add new user

I have iTunes 10.1.0.56 installed on a Windows 7 PC.  Whenever I try to upgrade to any newer version, the installation stalls.  The dialog box says that the program is trying to use a resource that is unavailable, then it prompts me to try to find the folder containing iTunes64.msi, which is the installation program itself.  One of the suggested locations is "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe"; another is C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 10.1.0.22\ which was probably the first version I loaded after I bought the PC.  I have tried over-writing the version number; I have also found temp folders in cache from previous upgrade attempts, but none of those folder names work.  I keep getting the message that (whatever) is not a valid installation package.  Eventually I have to cancel the upgrade.
iTunes works fine for me and my children on our respective user profiles.  We all have iPods and used iTunes regularly.  My wife up to now is a non-iTunes user but she just got an iPod Classic for her birthday.  However, when she launches iTunes from her profile, the installation program launches and then stalls with the same error messages as above. So she can't use iTunes and without having her own iTunes account, her iPod is useless.
I have seen this problem or similar issues discussed on other boards, mainly involving older versions of iTunes and/or Windows.  I have pretty much the latest of both but can neither upgrade iTunes or set up my wife as a new user.  Can somebody out there help me??  Thanks!

I also encountered the same problem.
and yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10.1.1 bla bla blahhh....
Same issue!!! itunes cannot open cuz the mobile device support not started etc..
but when reinstalled prior itunes version 9.2 its gone
    and issue fixed.
    i can sync my 3G.
but not my 4G. it says you need to upgrade to 10.1 or above
spending the whole night to fix the problem which never occured b4
i finally find out one thing.
pl keep in mind im not a computer exprt
i tried this and it worked, i don know what fixed it, bt it works
try this at your own risk. some comp genius will tell us weather this way is right or not.
    ok. lets start...
in your desktop make a new folder. name it Kmh_\CoreFP
try uninstalling the newer version 10.1
only the itunes not other mobile div suprt, application suprt etc.
    dont mind the following order:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    and reinstall itunes 9.2
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find a folder named "CoreFP"
copy it and paste to Kmh_\CoreFP
    uninstall itunes 9.2
    and reinstall itunes 10.1 again
    go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find folder named "CoreFP"
find the difference in properties comparing the one u stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
ok delete it and replace it with the one we stored stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
restart the computer and start itunes now
    what happens?
    best of luck.
    -Kmhm63
    reinstall the newer version 10.1
I would suggest that you revert back to prior working version until Apple comes out with an update that fixes what 10.1.1 broke.

  • Unable to Install iTunes - error 0x80070091

I was using iTunes fine, no problems. One day, the automatic update ran and was unable to complete. After that, I was unable to open iTunes.
I followed these instructions to remove it:

Then, I attempted to reinstall and am getting error 0x80070091
    Any advice?

    Hello arrrbecca,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like an update failed and now iTunes wont launch. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Unable to Upgrade iTunes to 11.0.3 as the Mac OS Can't "See" the Upgrade

I'm currently trying to upgrade iTunes 11.0.2 (25) to 10.0.3.  I'm using OS X v10.8.3.  When I launched iTunes today, the application informed me via a pop-up window that said a new iTunes version was available and would I like to download it now.  I selected "Don't Download" as I figured I could do this later.  This afternoon, I went into iTunes and selected "Check for Updates."  This same pop-up appeared, and I selected "Download iTunes."  Choosing this option launches the App Store. Unfortunately, the app tells me there are "No Updates Available."  How can I get my system to "see" the upgrade and download it?
    Thank you!

You can download it manually from: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Unable to upgrade itunes or Quick Time

I recently transferred all my data and programs to a new hard drive. Since then I have been unable to run itunes. The message "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". When I try to delete itunes so I can reinstall it I get the following two messages:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable
The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it".
    Any ideas.

"+unable to delete older version of quick time" "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" "enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Quick Time.msi'".
With those symptoms, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?
THIS WORKED FOR MY SYSTEM. I have now reloaded both iTunes and Quick Time. THANKS

  • I am unable to upgrade iTunes in Windows XP, please advise

I attempt to upgrade ITunes on my PC and I never receive the exe file on my desktop I need to do the upgrade. Please advise.  Thanks.

There is some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (32-bit) - itunessetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit) - itunes6464setup.exe
There is an alternative downloader for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version (the alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer).  The "for older video cards" reference does not seem to fully define the scope of systems for which this alternative works better.
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

  • HT4972 ***Urgent: unable to upgrade iTunes ans iOS

My iPad 2 is not receiving any Message to upgrade iTunes ans iOS (while is receiving from games), and i don t find any way to manually start the download in the Apple website. Please help!!!! Thanks in advance, Claudia

iTunes itself can be updated on its own, it can only be updated by updating the whole iOS. If you are on iOS 4 as your tagline suggests, then you can only do update it by connecting your computer's iTunes (when you have iOS 5+ installed then you will get a Settings > General > Software Update option appear which will allow future updates to be done directly on the iPad)
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

  • Unable to upgrade iTunes for Mac - Error message

Whenever the updater comes up, I am prompted to update iTunes. As it's going through the installation, it always stops and then I receive the following error:
The update "iTunes" can't be installed.
The source media you are installing from is damaged.
Try installing from a different copy of the source media or contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
I'm not certain what I should do and would appreciate any help you can offer.
    Thank you.

I'm having a similar problem. The error message I received was: 'Installer could not validate the contents of the "CoreFP" package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.'
I only tried to update iTunes because for some reason my computer was not starting up and now it does not recognize that my iPod Nano is plugged in.
    What to do?

  • Unable to upgrade iTunes to 9.2.1 - error message

"iTunesSetup[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application" shows up when I try to upgrade my iTunes to 9.2.1. I've never had this issue before and have not made any drastic changes to my applications so I'm unsure how to fix.....any suggestions? (please :))

Try going back to this webpage:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Notice carefully in the upper left that there are two versions listed there. One is for "iTunes 9.2.1 for Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7." The second is for "iTunes 9.2.1 for Windows (64-bit)." The first one is the one for 32-bit Windows OSes which is, evidently, what your system has. I suspect you downloaded the second one by mistake.
Alternatively, maybe you downloaded iTunes from a different website such as FileHippo.

  • Upgrading itunes - error message

When I upgraded to 7.1 my computer gave me an error message that said: itunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration. I restarted my computer and reinstalled itunes again to see if it would work but it keeps giving me the same message.. Help!

This didn't work for me either. When I get: Runtime error!
    Program: C\ProgramFiles\iTunes\iTunes.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for information.
I hope someone has a solution for this. Since this problem seems like it is from the upgrade, can we go back to the prior version?

  • Reinstall itunes error 2330

Trying to reinstall software, keep getting error code 2330 and software won't reload. Is there a fix, or do I have to reinstall the whole program. And if I do reinstall, will I lose all my music?

I have deleted itunes, all apple programs, restarted computer and tried to download itunes. Tried changing the compatability mode to older version of Windows. None of this works - does anyone have any advice?  I have seen many discussions here about various ways of fixing this, but the bottom line is many users are having the same problem. Why can't Apple or Windows fix this? Who wants a program that is this difficult to use?
