Unable to upgrade itunes or ipod software
Although I receive notification of upgrades that are available, I am unable to see an upgrade button to click on on the iTunes download page
To see the download button in the left part of this page
http://www.apple.com/iTunes/download/
you have to enable port 443.
Your firewall or other blocking software might prevent that.
If you don't know how to enable port 443, I suggest you post your question in the iTunes for Windows Discussion. You will probably get more help for Windows there, than in this Discussion (iTunes for Mac).

Problems After Upgrading iTunes and iPod software
My Goddaughter recently updated her iTunes to the newest version and her iPod to OS6. Now when she open iTunes, the top tool bar that used to have "File, Edit, View, ....tools., etc., is now blank. Is that supposed to happen or is this a new feature of iTunes 10, so now we would find those capabilities in another location? We are lost, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times just to have the same end result. Also when she syncs her iPod to iTunes, it connects but the window that opens has absolutely no text whatsoever.
You might try rebooting your computer. Select Shutdown and let the computer turn off. Then start it up again and see if the problem is corrected.

Unable to update or reinstall iTunes or iPod software
I hope someone very knowledgable can help me with my dilema-
it appears that the driver for my iPod has become corrupted,
since all my songs no longer will display on it. I've attempted to
update and reinstall both the iTunes and iPod software, but each time
results in "1607: Unable to install the InstallShield Scripting Runtime."
I went to InstallShield's site and the Microsoft knowledgebase,
but nothing attempted so far seems to correct the problem(s).
Does anyone have any solutions? Please help!

HP Pavilion A650Y Windows XPThe files that won't transfer are designated as AAC audio files; they have a bitrate of 128kbps w/ a samplerate of 44,100 KHz. I have other AAC as well as MPEG audio files in both the iTunes library and on the iPod that transferred and play w/o any problem. Have you or anyone else ever encountered while transferring songs to their iPod the message "Some songs in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." ????

Unable to upgrade ITunes - Error 2330
Has anyone received this error 2330? I can no longer use my Itunes icon and am unable to upgrade itunes.
Thanks.Has anyone received this error 2330?
That one is usually caused by a damaged program file, or disk damage in the vicinity of that file.
A 2330 error message usually cites a specific file and the file path of that file, including the drive that the file is stored on. Try running a chkdsk over the drive with the drive letter mentioned in the 2330 message.
How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly afterwards? -
Problems with Downloading iTunes and iPod software to my computer
Just got my iPod...I continue to get the following error message when trying to download iTunes and iPod software to my computer: "Error 1406, Could not write value InstallDir to key \Software\Apple Computer, Inc.\iPod\AppPaths. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key"
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks and Happy New Year! This is helpful...thank you. I have learned that I need to acquire administrative privileges in order to install the software, as I am trying to install the software on my company's laptop (don't have a computer at home). Do you know of a way around this?

Upgrading to latest itunes and ipod software kills ipod
Today my son has upgraded his itunes (on XP laptop) and ipod software to the latest versions. He has a 120 GB iPod classic and we've all been using ipods/itunes for many years. Since installing the updates he has been unable to synch his ipod. When we plug the ipod into the laptop it comes back with the error message "The ipod 'name' cannot be synched. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable". I have then tried to follow all of the trouble-shooting advice on the Apple website including the 5 Rs. The first 4 didn't fix the problem and when I got to no 5 (RESTORE) this wouldn't work either. The restore software downloaded from the site but after looking like it was going to proceed, iTunes returned another error message "<sons name> iPod cannot be restored because it contains files that are in use by another application". I checked that it wasn't trying to synch at the same time as restoring and could see no obvious reason why the restore wouldn't work. I am now at a complete loss as to what to do next. Can anyone help? I am surprised that there is nowhere on the Apple support site where you can find a list of all error messages and what you should do in response. Well not one that I could find anyway! Hope someone out there can shed some light.
Try putting the iPod in disk mode before connecting it.
1. Reset the iPod by pressing and holding the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously until it reboots.
2. Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons simultaneously for several seconds until the display changes. I believe it will say something like "Okay to disconnect." Then connect the iPod to your computer. -
Can't install itunes or ipod software from apple site.
i have been having this problem for a long time now. Everytime that itunes prompts me that there is a new version of either itunes or my ipod software, i decide to download it and i am sent to the apple download site. and then everytime that i click on the link that says "download here" it goes to the download site and nothing happens. no downloads and the page never loads completely. internet explorer displays an error that says "error on page" and says that there is an error with the page that might cause it to not load correctly.
does apple use some script on there site that my ie settings are blocking?
this is getting pretty annoying and my itunes and ipod are getting pretty out of date.Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over. -
I cannot get iTunes installed! I get an error every time I try... Please uninstall iPod Software but I can't because it's not under program files yet it is still under Add/Remove Programs. When I click uninstall in Add/Remove something quickly pops up that looks like an uninstallation but nothing happens the ipod software is not unsinstalled even if it is there... help?
Windows XP
Windows XPI have experienced the same problem and am frustrated in not having found a fix yet. I've sent a message to iTunes since the inability to upgrade the iPod software affects my ability to play purchased music on my iPod. In other words, I can't do it now. if I hear back from iTunes on how to fix it, I'll let you know. Can you please do them same if you get an answer?
Thanks -
Unable to upgrade iTunes 10.1 or add new user
I have iTunes 10.1.0.56 installed on a Windows 7 PC. Whenever I try to upgrade to any newer version, the installation stalls. The dialog box says that the program is trying to use a resource that is unavailable, then it prompts me to try to find the folder containing iTunes64.msi, which is the installation program itself. One of the suggested locations is "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe"; another is C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 10.1.0.22\ which was probably the first version I loaded after I bought the PC. I have tried over-writing the version number; I have also found temp folders in cache from previous upgrade attempts, but none of those folder names work. I keep getting the message that (whatever) is not a valid installation package. Eventually I have to cancel the upgrade.
iTunes works fine for me and my children on our respective user profiles. We all have iPods and used iTunes regularly. My wife up to now is a non-iTunes user but she just got an iPod Classic for her birthday. However, when she launches iTunes from her profile, the installation program launches and then stalls with the same error messages as above. So she can't use iTunes and without having her own iTunes account, her iPod is useless.
I have seen this problem or similar issues discussed on other boards, mainly involving older versions of iTunes and/or Windows. I have pretty much the latest of both but can neither upgrade iTunes or set up my wife as a new user. Can somebody out there help me?? Thanks!I also encountered the same problem.
and yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 10.1.1 bla bla blahhh....
Same issue!!! itunes cannot open cuz the mobile device support not started etc..
but when reinstalled prior itunes version 9.2 its gone
and issue fixed.
i can sync my 3G.
but not my 4G. it says you need to upgrade to 10.1 or above
spending the whole night to fix the problem which never occured b4
i finally find out one thing.
pl keep in mind im not a computer exprt
i tried this and it worked, i don know what fixed it, bt it works
try this at your own risk. some comp genius will tell us weather this way is right or not.
ok. lets start...
in your desktop make a new folder. name it Kmh_\CoreFP
try uninstalling the newer version 10.1
only the itunes not other mobile div suprt, application suprt etc.
dont mind the following order:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
and reinstall itunes 9.2
go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find a folder named "CoreFP"
copy it and paste to Kmh_\CoreFP
uninstall itunes 9.2
and reinstall itunes 10.1 again
go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
you wil find folder named "CoreFP"
find the difference in properties comparing the one u stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
ok delete it and replace it with the one we stored stored in Kmh_\CoreFP
restart the computer and start itunes now
what happens?
best of luck.
-Kmhm63
reinstall the newer version 10.1
I would suggest that you revert back to prior working version until Apple comes out with an update that fixes what 10.1.1 broke. -

we don't know what causes that one, but we've got a workaround that typically works for the itunes install. (i'm not sure i've seen this before with a software updater install, but the same technique is worth a try with that).
first, download and save copies of the installers to your hard drive.
then google for and download a copy of WinRAR and use it to open the iTunesSetup.exe (installer) file. the free trial version of WinRAR seems to be working for people for these purposes.
if that works for you, let's give the same technique a whirl for the ipod software installer file.
keep us posted.

Unable to upgrade iTunes due to network error, wont read .msi file
Hi
I'm trying to upgrade iTunes on my windows PC and during the installation I get an error message saying "A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\windows\installer\itunes.msi". Also when I plug my ipad in to the PC to synch with itunes - it will not read the ipad until I have updated the itunes.
Help please.(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Upgraded itunes, not ipod is synced with another player..
Hi - I recently "upgraded" Itunes, and can no loner sync my ipod Vid with itunes. It’s asking me to erase the ipod, and re-sync. The problem is that the new itunes has lost all my play lists and "ratings", so I'm basically SOL and need to re-create 2 years worth of categorizing.
My question is, can anyone help correct this ??
THANKS!!!!You can tell because you received the message. You have to options:
- Make this your syncing computer/iTunes library.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
- Or be satisfied with only being able to sync music and videos to the iPod from this library/computer. To do that you need to use the manual method included here:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod -

Mac OS 8.6 or EarlierThe software you downloaded is for Mac OS X; to get the Mac OS 9 version of the software, download the file for your language from the following pages (iPod, iTunes). The Mac OS 9 iPod software only works for first and second generation iPods, and requires 9.21 to run. Mac OS 9's iTunes will only sync first and second generation iPods, as well as third generation iPods which are running version 2.0x of the firmware.

Updated iTunes and iPod software iPod not showing up under devices in iTunes
Updated software since computer said there were updates. Now I'm having trouble with iPod not showing up under devices. Have gone through all the steps under troubleshooting. Nothing helped. Had this same problem periodically in the past, as well. Itunes also says I have an app I reinstalled today due to it not working properly, and it won't synch with iPod. (earlier today, iPod was showing up and synching properly, but this app wasn't getting downloaded to the iPod. Just shows up in iTunes. HAve tried restarting computer, iTunes and iPod, but no luck.
Thank you but I have tried this and it still does not show up. I even tried to delete itunes and reload it but the computer says that it is not able to delete itunes.

HT4972 ***Urgent: unable to upgrade iTunes ans iOS
My iPad 2 is not receiving any Message to upgrade iTunes ans iOS (while is receiving from games), and i don t find any way to manually start the download in the Apple website. Please help!!!! Thanks in advance, Claudia
iTunes itself can be updated on its own, it can only be updated by updating the whole iOS. If you are on iOS 4 as your tagline suggests, then you can only do update it by connecting your computer's iTunes (when you have iOS 5+ installed then you will get a Settings > General > Software Update option appear which will allow future updates to be done directly on the iPad)
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button
