Unable to Upgrade X60 Table to Win7 from Vista Business

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor states that Lenovo Utilities is a Known Issue. I have been unable to find any specifics on how to clear this problem.
When I attempt to actually perform the Upgrade to Win7 Professional, I am stopped with the statement that I must remove the ThinkPad Tablet Button Driver CoInstaller - unfortunately, I cannot find any way of accomplishing that.
Does anyone have any ideas?? Lenovo Tech Support was less than helpful and recommended I simply perform a clean install.

Before you upgrade to vista, first make sure you make recovery disks in XP incase you ever need to go back to XP. This should be in the Thinkvantage folder in the start menu.
Your recovery disks should have came with 3 for Vista. One is a bootable Rescue and Recovery disk that starts the process. The second disk is the OS itself and the third disk is the applications/drivers/lenovo preinstall stuff. If you don't have all three disks, give support a call.
If you do have the three disks, inset the R&R disk and go from there. If that still isn't working, go into your BIOS and make sure your optical drive is listed at a higher boot order than your HDD.

That offer has long ago expired. You will either have to buy Windows 7 or newer and then be eligible for Windows 10 free upgrade, starting July 29th, 2015. It says that free upgrade to Windows 10 is available for a year.

Upgrade to Win 7 (64bit) from Vista 32 - Not enough H Disk space after running Windows easy transfer

Hello all!
I upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7(64bit) using the custom install as per instruction found on Lenovo and the upgrade has gone well. My machine is running much better and faster now. However, I tried to transfer my files with easy transfer and I have run out of room on the HD. After the install, my C drive had about 35 Gigs with no other programs installed except for Win 7. This seems to be too much memory used for win 7 OS. I am thinking that other data like past restore data may be taking up a lot of room? Also my Easy transfer file is 79 gigs which also appears to large of a file. I have not been able to use Easy Transfer because of lack of drive space. Can I reformat my HD and run a new win 7 install from the Win 7 upgrade software CD?

Oracle 10g Client not working from Vista Business

Hi,
I have installed Oracle 10g Rel2 DB on my desktop (OS Vista Ultimate X64 bit) and try to connect from my new laptop (OS Vista business) after installing the client software which does not work, whereas I am able to connect to same database from my other laptop using Windows XP. The tnsnames.ora files on both laptops have the same contents. Moreover, the SQL Plus is also not working on the vista laptop, I mean when I try to login the window closes down itself it doesn't stay open even to give any error message. . . Any ideas would be a great help . . .thx

Did you install the Vista specific Oracle client?

Some problems from upgrading Win7 from Vista

Hello!
My Equium A100-338 OS was upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7.
Since this that the Toshiba Movie Factory and the Ulead MovieWriter disappeard and now it also doesn't recognise SD cards. I checked the toshiba website and I couldn't find the answer....
I just have the recovery CD for windows vista and I have no idea what to do to get the software (?!) back nor how to solve the SD card issue.
I am just a user and don't understand the ins and outs of computers...
Is anyone out there that may be of assistance?

I agree with Akuma. There must be some compatibility problem and if these applications dont work anymore it is the price you must pay for Win7 upgrade. Such additional Toshiba applications are not downloadable so what you can do is to use Windows Movie maker or some other application.
What you can also do is to buy newest Ulead Movie Maker/Writer designed for Win7.
I have checked Toshiba download page and there is no driver for SD card reader. That means, either you can try to use Vista driver or Win7 update will find driver alone.
Check please both options.

ExportPDF is an Adobe's online service and there is no link of upgrading Acrobat from ExportPDF service.
If you want to install and use Acrobat pro version, the you might purchase it as one-time purchase or as a subscription (annual/monthly).

T60p 8743-GZU. I have purchased a 250GB 5400 RPM HARD DRIVE and a SERIAL ATA HARD DRIVE BAY ADAPTER so I can use the 120GB for backup. What would be a better choice, Win. 7 or XP? This is just a travel Laptop, e-mail, web browsing, nothing very important. Anyone?

Is the ThinkVantage softwware included in the Windows 7 CD offered by Lenovo? Is this CD a recovery CD?

It doesn't say it supports windows 7 but it's worth a go. All my HP software runs fine in windows 7. I have yet to upgrade my Thinkpad though.

I ordered Vista on an Z61p. I want to downgrade. Can someone tell me the steps... for getting the CDs to do this from Lenovo and then any gotcha's. Where do I call, what's the cost? etc. My machine is out of warranty - h/w.. Thank you.

I went through this process and stopped having difficulties after setting the computer BIOS option for the hard drive to "compatible mode". Apparently my XP installation CD was not supporting the SATA type hard drive and even gave me a Windows blue screen error until that setting was modified.
I wasted following the instructions found on the Net to add the XP SATA drivers onto a new copy of the XP installation CD. Stopped mid-way when reading that changing that BIOS option was enough.
All the XP drivers you need are easily downloadable from the Lenovo web site.

Which version of oracle have you installed?According to the dcoumentation,

Do not use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista or the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media to install on operating systems other than Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
Oracle Database is supported on Windows Vista with the 10.2.0.3 release. If you used the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista media, then Oracle recommends that you install the 10.2.0.4 patch set. You do not need to use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media.

Upgrading Thinkpad R61 from Vista-32Bit to Win7-64Bit_stuck & need Help

I'm in the mids of upgrading my ThinkPad R61
I've added memory to 4Gb and a newer drive 320Gb
I've purchased the Win7 Home Premium Vista to Win7 upgrade (CDs).
Can I upgrade this R61 laptop to Win 7-64Bit OS?
Thus far, I cannot boot from the Win7 Upgrade CD
So I tried with a USB external DVD. I got past the Boot stage, however, it's prompting me for a CD/DVD driver before it can continue to load.
I am sensing that I will be prompted multiple times for additional drivers (perhaps 64Bit) before I ever complete the upgrade process.
What is the quickest & easiest path to upgrade my laptop to Win7-64Bit. (At least, to the point where I can boot from the upgraded drive).

My intention was to actualy do a clean install to Win7 -64Bit.
Perhaps it has everything to do with using an upgrade (32-Bit & 64-Bit) version CD of Win7 from Vista?
When I tried to upgrade to 64Bit, it eventually took me to a screen prompting for a CD/DVD driver to continue the upgrade. I suspected it was looking for a 64bit driver (likely the SATA controller), so I opted out thinking it will be lloking for more drivers through the upgrade process.
I then successfully upgraded it to Win7 - 32Bit version.
However, I would like to take advantage of the 64Bit speed & useability of the additional RA I have inside the laptiop.
I noticed that Lenovo have a listing of Win7 64Bit drivers under their Support section. If one was to download and expand them them to a folder, would it be possible to essentialy upgrade to 64Bit?
Or, perhaps get CD copy from Lenovo with all the required files & drivers?

So your iTunes library is now empty after the upgrade?
Simply drag the one folder (containing all of your music) into your new empty iTunes library or choose File -> Add to Library in iTunes.
Otherwise, if they aren't all in one folder, you'll have to drag each seperate one into iTunes.

Upgrading Aspire E380 from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit - No device drivers were found

I'm trying upgrade my Acer Aspire E380 from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and getting an error that no device drivers were found. This happens after booting from the Windows 7 DVD. The Acer support site only provides Vista 32 bit drivers for this machine. Where can I find the drivers needed for Windows 7 64 bit?

I think you need to download this:http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/14875/en-us It seems that Windows 7 doesn't have a disk controller driver for this chpset so you need to unzip the above file and take out the disk controller driver and manually load it so that Windows 7 installer can access the hard drive during installation.
