Unable to upload .pdf files to iCloud through Pages

Apple advertises that iPages allows you to share .pdf, .doc, .rtf files, but whenever I try to upload a .pdf file to Pages in iCloud I receive this message:
"**** Can't be uploaded because the file format isn't supported.  Supported formats include Pages '09, Word, and Text files."

The key distinction here is what Pages can do and what iCloud/iWork can do. Pages can share (export to) PDF, but iCloud/iWork currently only syncs iWork documents between your supported devices. If you want to share a PDF with someone, you'll have to export it from Pages and email it or put it on Dropbox (and share a link to the file), etc.

icloud was never set up to be your storage for PDF's, has completely different purpose, but if that is so important to you to have those pdf's in icloud - email them to your icloud mail account, if size permits. Emails will also be accessible for opening or deletion. Try to realize that icloud is not an app like Kindle, but rather online storage/sync service for certain things. You also can probably find an app in app store that would support holding pdf's and using icloud to sync over devices, or app that uses NON Apple storage means. Like Dropbox for example. If you download that kind of App - you may also get a free storage upgrade from those apps. I have seen such offers.

  • Want to allow designated clients to upload pdf files to a designated page on my cs4 website

want to allow designated clients to upload pdf files to a designated page on my cs4 website. want those files to be live on that page when their upload is complete. this is so I dont have to receive their file and upload it myself.
    appreaciate the help.

Everything you have described can be done using PHP (assuming your website is on an apache server). There are three separate "sub-projects" to your overall project:
    1. Log-in system. Secrity is an issue here. There are several ways to accomplish this.
    2. File upload routine.
    3. Display of directory contents in a dynamic webpage.
Fortunately, each of these tasks is explained in the book PHP Solutions, by David Powers. It even presents several different methods for handling the log-in password routine and security. Since your project doesn't require a database, you will want to choose a password storage method that doesn't require one.
The way I would handle this is to create a directory for each client. Maybe the directory name will be the client's ID, like 27, 28, etc. Then the upload routine will use a varible based on the client id, so it will put the right client's files in the right directory.
Overall, this is not a very difficult project, especially if you get the Power's book and read through the appropriate chapters.

  • I am unable to upload pdf files.

I am unable to upload files to acrobat.com. I receive an error message that says 'Error: Adobe reader did not get a response from the server.  Try again later or contact your system administrator.' I'm on the internet right now.  AND I use to heave a side menu whenever I opened any pdf files with the option to convert it to any other format and the side menu no longer displays.

    a quick question first-
in the Files Panel, is the icon next to this site's root
    folder a folder
    icon or a network icon?
You should be able to make a link to a pdf file by selecting
    the text, then
use the folder icon next to Link in the Property Inspector to
    pick the file
    you want to link to.
to manually upload a file, find it in the Files Panel and
    click Put
note- if the pdf's filename contains blank spaces or
    punctuation there can
    be linking errors.

  • How do I upload pdf files to iCloud

I have pdf files stored in documents and my desktop.  I can't figure out how to open and store them in icloud.

For PDFs, it's better to use Dropbox instead of icloud.
If you want to use icloud, you'd have to use itunes's app tab and drag the pdf file to the right panel after highlighting iBooks.  A pain.
For Dropbox: On the iOS device, use GoodReader to access the file(s).
If you are just trying to store a pdf on icloud as storage, than getting the pdf to icloud and then back to your mac involves drag and drop both ways using itunes.  Again, use Dropbox instead.

  • Unable to Upload .ai Files to my Web Page

I secured a domain name and hosting provider, but am unable to upload my web pages, which were designed using Illustrator CS5. They are in .ai format and the .html version won't upload due to the incomplete '4 KB' size. How do I convert the files from ".ai " to enable me to upload my web pages? Thank you in advance for your time.

Illustrator's Save for Web command is designed as tool that helps you create graphics suitable for use on a web-site. In other words, the actual web-site would need to be developed in a web-development tool, such as Adobe Dreamweaver, or Adobe Muse. The following video explains the Save for Web functionality more:

  • Will OS X allow me to upload PDF files to iCloud?

We are using a Mac, laptop and iPad.  We uploaded to Mountain Lion recently on the laptop and Mac.  We hoped to use iCloud via the iPad when we travel which is often to access documents on the laptop and Mac.  However, when we attempted to upload documents to iCloud we received the message that the format was unacceptable.  Will OS X solve the problem?  Will I be able to access all documents (regardless of how they were created) contained on the Mac and laptop including scanned documents?  Will iCloud now accept all documents regardless of format?  Thanks.

I think you do this via the Preview app.

  • Pdf files on iCloud?

Is there anyway to upload pdf files to iCloud?

    Dear Alma3,
I am using Mac OsX Mountain Lion 10.8.2, Preview 6.0.1. When you have any Preview supported file open, you can File -> Move To -> iCloud.
When you select the Move To it first defaults to Desktop (At least on my Mac) and the second item on the dropdown is the iCloud.

  • How to upload a PDF file in iCloud

    Hi everybody,
I would like to know how to upload a PDF file in iCloud. I want to share some PDF files with my iPhone, MacBook and iMac.
    Thank you a lot!

Yes, but the problem is will iBooks remember where I left off in that pdf file? Unlikely since it was deleted.  Also, what is handy about the kindle app is once you delete it an icon appears in the app to show that this file is in the cloud. I guess for reading pdfs the kindle app is better.  I am not saying that the kindle app would be that great for other things but at least with syncing and such it's much better.  Well, iCloud is meant for other things.  It's fine because I'll just use it for those other things and stick to the kindle app for reading pdfs.  Well I use endnote for reading technical pdfs, I'm just talking about novels and such on the kindle app.

  • Help~how can I download and upload pdf file in simple solution

    I am new doing Portal.
I want to create a page which can provide download pdf file function and other page which can provide upload pfg file function.
I created a link to download file, and implemented uploading files by access the file directory.
Can this solution work in Portal?
I've tried, but I couldn't access file directory through web_dav.
Anyone can give me some suggestion?

You can only install apps (programs) via the App Store app on your iPad, or by downloading them via iTunes store on your computer and then syncing them to your  iPad - you can't download and install programs from the internet via a browser, they are not compatible with the iPad.

  • Unable to upload multiple files

In MOSS, I am unable to upload multiple files from the Site Actions | Manage Content and Structure | New | Item menu. I have tried adding Word documents and image files (JPEG, GIFS) to no avail into the \images or \document folders. Even if I try just one file, three or five, the menu never initiates or progresses. It just sits. If I cancel, the menu returns immediately. I have tried to change security settings with no success. Trying to upload multiple files on different MOSS installations also fails. If this is related to a Web Dev settings, can you tell me exactly where the setting is? Thanks for your insight. cm

Believe it or not, I have found a solution after about 4hrs of fiddling around. This appears to be a bug in Sharepoint 2007. There is a work around that I have discovered! Follow the steps below and let me know if this works for you. It has worked for me and other people so far.
    The steps are as follows:
    1) Browse to your website at http://<servername>/_layouts/settings.aspx; you will need to login by providing a service account name & password or your site collection administrator account & password.
    2) Once you login, click on 'Site Actions' menu.
    3) Then, click on 'Manage Site Content and Structure'.
    4) Click on any document library you want to upload or add files into. If you do not see the 'Upload' menu from the dropdown main menu between the 'New' and 'Actions' menu then you have this bug as well showing up on your server. Don't give up yet, there is a solution. Keep going through these steps!
    5) Click on 'New' and select 'Item'.
    6) You should now see the Upload Document page; under the input browse field there should be a link for 'Upload Multiple Files...', if you do not see this you will need to install either Office 2003 or Office 2007. If you do see it, click on it.
    7) Now, you should see the multiple upload page that allows you to select multiple files. If you try to select one or several and click on the OK button, nothing will happen. No need to worry! There is a work around. Just keep reading to the next step.
    8) On the hierarchy navigation you will have links something like this:
    WebSiteName > Folder1 > Folder2
    9) Click on the "Document Library" folder name; in our case it was Folder1. Basically its the folder you ended up in in step #4.
    10) Now, did you notice anyting in your menu change? Now you should be able to see the Upload menu option between the 'New' and 'Actions' menu that you could not see in step #4.
    11) Click on the 'Upload' menu and select 'Upload Multiple Documents'
    12) Now, you will be back at the Upload document page where you were in step #7
    13) Select one file or many and then click OK. Now it works!!! You should get an IE popup asking you that your about to upload files to your site, Click OK.
    VOILA!!!
Don't ask me why, I do not know why this happens but it works.
