Unable to use ADC port on 5200FX

I have a Dual 1.8Ghz Powermac with a 5200FX.
I recently got an ADC to DVI adapter and cannot use it.
When I connect a monitor to the ADC port(It's a DVI LCD) OSX recognizes it, sees it's resolution, but there is no image on the screen.
When it's just the ADC-DVI setup, not my ADC-DVI + DVI-VGA setup that I'd ideally like to have working, I still don't get an image on my LCD.
Help?
TiA!

I don't know why your ADC to DVI display isn't working, but ADC to DVI adapter followed by DVI to VGA is always unlikely to work because most ADC to DVI adapters don't pass the analog signals needed for VGA. You should use an ADC to VGA adapter to connect a VGA display to a ADC port.

  • Quicksilver 2002, best AGP card that I can use ADC port?

I currently have a 2002 QS 933mhz, and would like to add Core Image support. However, I am kind of on a budget, and need to still be able to use my 17'' ADC studio display. I'm okay with having to tape pins 3 and 11 if necessary, but I need the card to be able to power my display. Any suggestions?

For budget performance increases, and for overall system performance enhancement, with minimal effect from Leopard, I would stick with the Radeon 9800.
For more serious gaming, skip the Radeon, and get the Geforce 6800 GT.
Processors have a lot to do with video playback.
A "budget" upgrade, would be the OWC 7455 based 1.467 GHz processor (1.5 GHz in a 100 MHz system).
That processor has a 2MB L3 cache, and would help a lot with video applications and total system performance.
A 7447 processor upgrade doesn't have a L3 cache, but a larger L2 cache, and higher clock speeds make for a good upgrade. A 1.7 GHz processor will provide video performance equal to/ or better the 1.467GHz, and perform better on other apps because of the increased clock speed. 7447 processors are also cooler running, and have lower power requirements, as compared to 7455 processors.
The top processor family, and upgrade, a 7448 2.0 GHz processor, is really a performance buy. A 1MB L2 cache is faster than any L3 cache, and the architecture of the 7448 processor provides great increases in processor performance as compared to either the 7447 or 7455 processors.
The 7448 is also the coolest running, and has further reductions in power requirements as compared to the 7447 processor.
For all processor upgrades, check OWC.

  • [Asking Question] Using ADC port in LM3S8962 Evaluation Board

    Hello,
Currently I'm making a project using NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ARM Microcontroller. The project itself is prototyping SCADA system, the system needs to gather data from sensor (Data Acquisition) and give a control mechanism. I need to get data from few sensors like temperature sensor and pressure transmitter.
For the temperature sensor, I'm using LM35 which is quite common sensor. In normal room temperature, I expect to get around 0.3V (300mV) from the sensor. I do measured the sensor using multimeter and it gave me correct voltage reading. But when the Vout is connected to the ADC0 (LM3S8962), the reading that I got is around 150 (10 bits). I expect to get around 60 (10 bits) which is equivalent to 0.3V with 5V voltage supply.
In VI I'm using Elemental IO Node then Analog Input AI0, then Elemental IO is connected to the numeric indicator (all inside for loop). I tried to find the examples VI everywhere but I still couldn't find a way to fix it. I'm pretty new to LabVIEW so I hope I can get a help in this forum. Thank you very much and sorry for my bad english.
    Regards,
    Ilham Nandana

hi you can find unstable information in the browser of examples is included in Labview, if you installed the toolset for microntroladores ARM, you must have Jan mind that these examples are designed to be downloaded to the ULINK2 Keil, must re-compile for you download the USB port if you have built the recorder

  • Would like to use both ports adc dvi for hdmi for maca1047

I have a Mac A1047 dual 2.0 and would like to use both ports, adc/dvi to hdmi is the an adapter for both? I am in Michigan is there a store here does apple store carry anything like this and do I have to go online?

Hello, it may be tough finding an ADC->DVI adapter, & not certain ADC->DVI->HDMI 2 adapters will work.
I'm reasonably certain Apple no longer carries anything for ADC.

  • Unable to use HDMI IN port on B550

Hi, I am unable to use the HDMI IN port on the B550, whenever i switch to HDMI mode, the screen is blank with no signal. But HDMI OUT port seems to work. anybody with similiar problems to this?

Hey everyone. I'm from Brazil and Im with a similar problem to yaoyuan, or sort of...My Ideacentre B550 dont work the Hdmi-in when I try to use my Playstation 3. I've tested my cable tv at hdmi in it, and works great. I connect my netbook at the hdmi in at B550 and the B550 worked as a secondary monitor just fine too. But when I connect the ps3 at hdmi-in the b550 seems to get it (is not as I dont plug anything) because the screen is not total black but a dark grey (the counter when the b550 doesnt find anythign didnt appear), but no sound or image appear.. .I changed hdmi cable but nothing happen. Used the same hdmi cable at a tv and ps3 and works.PS3 works just fine at the 3 tvs i have, with the same hdmi. only when try the b550 no image appears. Cables (i teste 3) are ok, PS3 is ok... Did anybody knows anything about an incompatible thing to ps4 and Lenovo B550? * I've checked cable, the source option at the b550, settings at ps3 (setup up at another screen as when I plugged into b550 no image appears). I've also try to use a hdmi swicht but no changes at all. All the time the only difference is that b550 is dark grey when pluged the ps3 (and not black). Cheers

after the last Yosemite update on my MacBook pro I turned the FileVault on, now my Mac is freezing all the time and encrypting the drive looks like going to last forever and I am unable to use my MacBook pro what must I do???!!!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • How do I connect a new Thunderbolt MBP to and old 23" HD Cinema Display ADC port

A question Im sure many have asked but I cant find a straight forward answer.
I simply will be buying a new thunderbolt MBP 15 and NEED to connect it an old 23" Apple Cinema Display that uses the old ADC connector.
Can I do it and if so how? I realise theres a potential under powering issue?
    Thanks

    Hello Sigh
I am sure there is no way to get your ADC connector display to function with your new Mac Book Pro.
I tried everying I could and gave up and purchased a 24" Apple refurbbished Cinema Display for $599 + tax on 4/27/2011. The Apple part number is FBXXXXL/A, Model A1287.
Gave my  year 2002 ADC 22" display to a friend.

Re: How do I connect a new Thunderbolt MBP to and old 23" HD Cinema Display ADC port Jul 8, 2011 4:58 PM (in response to Russy47)
Got my new MBP 2011 today. Hooked it up to my 23" Apple Cinema Display fine, using the Apple DVI to ADC converter > Mini Display port adaptors. I could then mirror display, but only at 1440 x 900 resolution.
My dream is to have it like my old laptop--I mostly leave it shut, and main display is on the Cinema Display. So far, if I close the laptop lid on my new MBP, display shuts off. Also, can't get it to bump up the resolution to 1920.
    Sigh.

  • Acrobat 7: Warning 20225- Setup unable to create PDF Port Printer

I had to replace my computer and I am trying to install Acrobat 7 Pro on Windows 7. I read a comment that said it's not compatible, but others say it can work.  Since Adobe closed the activation server for CS2 & Acrobat 7, Adobe tech support gave me the link for the non-activating version of the exe file and new serial #. I was successful at installing CS2. Acrobat says the installation is successful and I am able to open Acrobat but at the end of install I got the Warning 20225: Setup unable to create a new item- Adobe PDF Port Printer. I tried to uninstall and change compatibility to XP, SP3 which is what my previous computer ran on, but still get same error every time. I don't use most the features of Acrobat so it doesn't make sense for me to buy a new version. Mostly, I just need to be able to print files to pdf (from Word, Illustrator, web). Any ideas of how to get this part working?

Thank you so much, Mylenium. I'm not sure if I'm setting up the printer right so please let me know where I am making errors.  I clicked "add a printer" and when it asks to choose a port, I left it as "use existiing port" and selected "File: Print to file". In the window to choose a printer, I clicked "Have Disk" and browsed to one of the .inf files (I ran a search in the Acrobat folder and found four .inf files shown below. I don't know which to use so tried each one)  but each time got the error message on the second screen shot below.
Do you know if there is a newer driver that is compatible with Windows 7?

Anyone having this problem or have any tips to try? I've never gotten the debugging to work on any Raptor or SQL Developer build in OS X. However, JDeveloper debugging works just fine on this mac.

I am also experiencing this problem.

  • I pull fiftyfour bytes of data from MicroProcessor's EEPROM using serial port. It works fine. I then send a request for 512 bytes and my "read" goes into loop condition, no bytes are delivered and system is lost

I pull fiftyfour bytes of data from MicroProcessor's EEPROM using serial port. It works fine. I then send a request for 512 bytes and my "read" goes into loop condition, no bytes are delivered and system is lost

    Hello,
You mention that you send a string to the microprocessor that tells it how many bytes to send. Instead of requesting 512 bytes, try reading 10 times and only requesting about 50 bytes at a time.
If that doesnt help, try directly communicating with your microprocessor through HyperTerminal. If you are not on a Windows system, please let me know. Also, if you are using an NI serial board instead of your computers serial port, let me know.
In Windows XP, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, and select HyperTerminal.
Enter a name for the connection and click OK.
In the next pop-up dialog, choose the COM port you are using to communicate with your device and click OK.
    In the final pop
-up dialog, set the communication settings for communicating with your device.
Type the same commands you sent through LabVIEW and observe if you can receive the first 54 bytes you mention. Also observe if data is returned from your 512 byte request or if HyperTerminal just waits.
If you do not receive the 512 byte request through HyperTerminal, your microprocessor is unable to communicate with your computer at a low level. LabVIEW uses the same Windows DLLs as HyperTerminal for serial communication. Double check the instrument user manual for any additional information that may be necessary to communicate.
Please let me know the results from the above test in HyperTerminal. We can then proceed from there.

  • Sql server 2012 express - tcp/ip connection to named instance using dynamic port not working

I have a named instance on a SQL 2012 Express server that won't connect via TCP/IP when wanting to connect off of the dynamic port.  I can connect via shared memory locally on the server.   I can connect to the namespace when specifying the
dynamic port listed in the configuration manager.
This is the only named instance on the server and it is not the default.
    TCP/IP is enabled
    Allow Remote connections is enabled
the server browser service is running
I can connect via the dynamic port number
I am testing the connection locally on the server, so I don't believe a firewall is the issue.  I get the same results if I test it from a remote computer.
When using the sqlcmd (sqlcmd -S tcp:SQLSRVR\NAMEINST -E) I get the message that "the requested protocol isn't supported [xfffffffff]".   The command (sqlcmd -S tcp:SQLSRVR\NAMEINST,59992 -E) works.
Through SSMS, I get the message "the connection was actively refused".
On other boxes, I can connect with the named instance without having to specify the port.
I have looked through the sql logs and nothing much shows up.  The log does show that is listening on the port # for ipv4 and ipv6.   There is also a line in there talking about the SPN not being registered and not to worry about it if
you are not using Kerberos.  I logged in through shared memory and it said I was using NTLM.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi clw,
I’m writing to follow up with you on this post. According to your description, I do a test, if you configure the database engine to listen on a specific TCP port (59992), and
the port is opened in the firewall. If you want to connect to the SQL Server instance, you 'd better to
    use the port number.
In my opinion, by default, the default instance of the Database Engine uses port 1433, usually, if you have configured the server to listen on a non-default port number, when an instance of SQL Server uses dynamic port allocation, the connection string that
is built at the SQL Server client does not specify the destination TCP/IP port unless the user or the programmer explicitly specifies the port. Therefore, the SQL Server client library queries the server on UDP port 1434 to collect the information about the
    destination instance of SQL Server.
If UDP port 1434 is disabled, the SQL Server client cannot dynamically determine the port of the named instance of SQL Server. Therefore, the SQL Server client may be unable to connect to the named instance of SQL Server. In this situation, the SQL Server
client must specify the dynamically allocated port where the named instance of SQL Server is listening.
For more information about configuring an instance of SQL Server to listen on a specific TCP port or dynamic port, you can review the following article.

  • Remove ADC port, add second DVI to G5??

Is it possible to remove the ADC port from my dualG5 and replace it with a second DVI port?
I want use a second monitor with my system - Any suggestions on how to accomplish this would be most appreciated. I already have a 20"cinema display attached.
    Many, many thanks.

You can't just change the port. You have to replace the graphics card with one with two DVI ports. You won't like the price (even though they are on sale).
    <http://www.welovemacs.com/6613332.html> or
    <http://www.welovemacs.com/6613441.html>
These cards have two dual-link DVI ports, so they can be used with 30" displays. They are double width, so they cover the first PCI slot.
