Unable to use multiple libraries function

Hi all,
I have been using my iPod, with iTunes, on my parents computer for years. I recently moved out and bought a Toshiba laptop (nothing special) with Windows 7. When I was leaving my parents place, I moved my current iTunes library with all my files onto my external hard drive.
I recently tried to open my library on my hard drive by following the Multiple Libraries instructions on this website (Start > Itunes > then holding down shift click on iTunes to get the pop up window). Unfortunately for me, following these instructions did nothing.
No window popped up for me to browse for my old library and no error message popped up either. When I stop holding down shift (after I have clicked on iTunes) it just opens iTunes with the sample songs that come with it.
I have no idea how to get my old library onto iTunes if this doesn't work. What will happen if I just plug my iPod in? I am dying to add more CD's but can't until I get this sorted.
Please help!

Does anyone know what happens if I just plug my iPod into my laptop (with all my music/videos on the iPod itself) without the library existing on iTunes?

Using Multiple Libraries With iTunes 7.5

I recently updated to 7.5, using multiple libraries does not work anymore. The dialog to choose library if holding the option key while opening itunes will not appear anymore. anyone having a similar problem? Multiple libraries are a necessity for me.

I am also having this problem. I tried to create a separate library, but when I followed the directions (hitting shift when I open iTunes) I did not get the option to do so. My regular account just opens. Have you resolved your problem yet?

I use multiple iTunes libraries to manage multiple devices from the same PC. I'm purchasing an iPhone 6 and currently have a library for my iPhone 4. Would I create a new library for this new device? Also, to restore all content to my new phone, Will this restore be done from the existing iPhone 4 library? Is this process documented?

I can't address specific issues regarding iPhones, but in general you can manage multiple iDevices from a single iTunes library. The test approach is to maintain one or more playlists for each iDevice you use, and configure the latter to sync only from the relevant playlists:

Cannot Use Multiple Libraries in ITunes 8.0

I'm trying to set up multiple libraries, one of lossless that runs of an external drive, one of compressed that runs off a portable drive. I'm in XP.
I have set up Itunes with the lossless files, and am now trying to startup Itunes with the shift key in order to have the option to create a new library. No dice. I hold shift then I double click on the Itunes icon on the desktop. I've also tried it from the programs menu and the start menu. On two different computers. Every time, it just loads the account already set up.

To create or access a second (or more) library on a Mac, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.

How to use drivers libraries functions

I have 3 problems:
1. I have downloaded the functions libraries of the hp plug
and play drivers to comunicate with my PC via HPIB, but now
I don't know how can I access to them. Can anybody help me?
2. I am taking dates from several channels at a time, and
the arrive as a array of dates for each channel. I need to
represent at the same time each data comes the maximun and
minimun value, but I can not because it is not one but a
collection of values I get.
3. When I open two screens at the same time, one of them is
all the time blinking; i would like to avoid this but i
don't know how.
I will be very grateful is anyone could help me.

How to monkey patch using multiple libraries?

Seems like monkey patching works when everything is included in 1 project but not when using libraries. What happens when I have 2 projects and monkey patch is in other one.
i.e.
MainAppProject (contains MainApp.mxml)
-SomeLibraryProject (this has the monkey patch code, i.e. Button)
Now in my MainApp.mxml I'm unable to reference my version of the code.
I understand if I use RSLs I can force load my class first so runtime would work, but how do I get compile time access to this class? What if I added a new property (in library project) and I want to access that property from MainApp? The compiler has no idea and I can't build. This forces me to make the monkey patch class implement some interface that would guarantee compile time changes, but this is getting way more complicated then it needs to. Any other ideas?

Error messages in iTunes when using multiple libraries

Hi there -- my boyfriend got a new iPod yesterday, a 5th generation 30G. I have a 4th generation 20G that I've been using for about half a year. After some difficulty getting it set up, thanks to extra editions of iPod software on the computer conflicting with iTunes 7, we finally got the iTunes recognizing his new iPod.
I created a seperate library for him (like you can in iPhoto, where you press shift when you start the program to choose your library). When I plug the 30G iPod in, iTunes recognizes it and starts updating. It gets about halfway through the songs that need to be updated, and then an error popup shows up that says something like "iPod cannot continue updating because the file or folder is corrupted." It's not stopping on a particular song or album; it seems to stop about halfway through the list of songs it's updating, whether it's adding 10 songs or 50. If I click "OK" (the only option), it continues updating; when it's done I get the "iPod has finished updating" message.
Then, if I press eject I get another error: "iPod cannot eject because it is being used by another program." The iPod still has the "Do Not Disconnect" symbol at this time, instead of switching to charging like it should once it's done updating. I have to pull the USB cord from the computer or shut down iTunes to get it to stop.
The iPod will update and seems to work fine, but this makes me worry that there's a problem that will only get worse with time, and I'd rather deal with it now. I also don't know if I should keep disconnecting the iPod when it's tell me not to even though it's updated, if I can help it.
Is it the software on the iPod (fully updated)? Or perhaps having two libraries (the one with the problems is not the original one)? iTunes was deleted and reinstalled last night with the help of Apple's phone support, so it's new.
For the record, my 4th generation iPod updates fine with my library, with no error messages, and ejects as it should. I haven't tried it with the second library; I also haven't tried using the 5th generation iPod with a new library or my existing, original one.

HT1495 What do I do if none of my devices are being properly detected by iTunes when using multiple libraries (mostly via wifi sync)?

Have a Windows 7 machine with terabytes of HDD space and 8 Gigs RAM. Two iTunes libraries (mine and my wife's with about 10% file overlap). Two iPhone 5s (iOS 6.0.2), 1 iPad 2 (iOS 6.0.1), 1 iPad 3 (iOS 5.1.1), and a jailbroken iPhone 3GS 32 GB that we've converted to an iPod essentially (iOS 3. something--not willing to update given the historically bad performance of the new iOS on the 3GS). Running iTunes 10 (also not willing to update to 11 after reading reviews).
I get multiple errors in both libraries with lots of popup boxes saying devices cannot connect, be properly identified, or sync, etc. Disconnecting and reconnecting via cable is marginally better (more so with the 3GS less with the iPads).
I'd like to be able to link certain devices to certain libaries (i.e. my iPhone5 and iPad3 with my library and my wife's iPhone5, iPad2, iPhone 3GS with her library). Instead it seems the wrong devices always show up or none at all.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. I have a moderately high level of tech expertise, so if there are scripts or hacks to be written/run I wouldn't be shy about trying them. Also would consider an iTunes alternative given that Apple isn't interested in supporting users with massive music libraries who need powerful databases as opposed to the dumbed down stuff they are trying to push in 11.

First of all, there is no need to specify complier installation directory in -I and/or -L options; compilers knows where to look for its own libraries and includes. In fact, -I/opt/SUNWspro/include -L/opt/SUNWspro/libwill interfere with compiler's algorithms of libraries/includes lookup and cause unwanted side effects.
Replace those with
-library=complexas CC(1) suggests. libm will be linked automatically.
Now, to the difference between compat=4 (-compat) and compat=5 (no -compat option). compat=4 implies very old, pre-standard C++ syntax and semantics. Is there a solid reason for using it, especially in modern Solaris 10 environment? Also, as the warning suggests, compat=4 is not supported with 64-bit sparc (-xarch=v9).
I'm not sure why your code does not compile in -m64 (with proper compiler options), but I think I know the right way to arrange things:
1. Use C++ includes instead of C-style includes:
#include <complex>2. Since C++-style headers inject names into std namespace, you'll have to write std::complex; also, complex is a template class, so you'll need to write std::template<float>, for example, or provide typedefs.
3. Do not use -compat; in fact, it is better to switch to STLport library (-library=stlport4) than continue using outdated (but provided for backward compatibility libCstd). In short, add this to compilation line:
-library=stlport4To summarize: here's the code that works and correct compiler parameters
$ cat test.cc

Using Multiple Libraries in iTunes

I have a friend who has collected a huge library of jazz CDs as well as a huge library of blues CDs.
He does not use a computer and I offered to rip his CDs onto my computer and put them on an iPod for him to make it easier for him to listen to his music.
I did this with his jazz set and now want to rip his blues set for him.
It would be my preference to start a new itunes library and keep the jazz music separate from the blues music, rather than intemingling them in one iTunes library. I know I can set the type of music in iTunes, but I find that iTunes has its own idea as to type of music and it doesn't always align with mine, so I don't really trust it to get the type on all of the blues collection the way I want it. If I have to do this manually, it would be quite tedious. Having the music in a separate library is most appealing to me.
The question I have:
Am I going to be able to load all the blues music to his ipod which already has all the jazz music on it? I know that Apple is queezy about what device hooks up to what. I have his iTunes library on an external drive and have to make sure I hook it up to the right computer (We have several) or itunes threatens to delete everything from his ipad if I am on a computer it doesn't like.
Is there anything similar that happens if I want to add the contents of his blues iTunes library to his iPod containing his jazz iTunes library on the "correct" computer?
Does anyone have an idea about how I can do what I want to do if there is a problem?
I could save the music in separate libraries and then combine them in a third library by importing one into the other, and then synching the whole thing to his iPod. This seemsa bit extreme and would use a lot time and disk space as his libraries are pretty big.

Using multiple libraries

If you copy all your images from iphoto to Aperture does that mean you have 2 libraries on your hard drive? And therefore using twice the storage space?
Also, is there a way to combine libraries because when I look at my iphoto library from Aperture my photo stream does not appear, ( this is a separate library).
Ideally I would like to see photo stream from my iphone and my iphoto library at the same time in Aperture. I am using Aperture 3.3.2. Lion and iphoto 11.

iPhoto and Aperture can now open the same library, so why have two?
You can merge them with Aperture 3's Import Library command.
