Unable to use 'q' in Adobe InDesign
Apparently I am unable to use the 'q' key within a text box in InDesign. As you can see - I am able to use 'q' outside of InDesign and it also works in at least Photoshop and Dreamweaver out of the Creative Cloud.
Anyone else having a similar problem?
I am using a new MacBook Pro Retina if that aids diagnostics.
We actually can't see anything. I suspect you tried to attach some images, but attachments onthe forum have been disabled for years. You can post a link to images stored on a server, or embed them in your posts using the camera icon on the web page, like this:
I'm not sure why the Q key wouldn't work. Is this true in all files, just one file or only new or only old files? Does it happen in a new user account?

Using Peerjs with Adobe InDesign

I'm creating my own InDesign PlugIn and I need to connect to another web application I created. I tried using socket.io, but I didn't want to have another server, so I have passed to Peer JS, in this way I have a peer to peer system that would work perfectly, but I met some unexpected problems.
I'm working with Adobe InDesign CC, that uses CEP5, which has support for google chrome BROWSER (CEF (Chromium extended framework )).
In the Docs it's said that CEP5 has support even for WebRTC but when I try to connect with peerjs (wich uses WebRTC) to another peer I get a :"TypeError: undefined is not a function", under further investigation I discovered that the error is thrown by Object.Negotiator._startPeerConnection, but I can't understand what I'm getting wrong...
I tried using the same PEER JS code in another application(just a normal web site) and connecting to the same peer and was successfull, so I'm guessing that the problem is the in WebRTC support provided by InDesign.
I am not confined to using PEER JS, I just want my adobe plugin and my site to communicate in the most intelligent way possible, so any idea is welcome, however this is the piece of code of my plugin where I try to connect to the PEERJS

Just a question: Why do you try to escape "/" in the string "editor-vaCome\/ibraEEE" ?
At least this is my guess what you want to do here…
If you want to feed the argument string "editor-vaComet/ibraEEE" to peer.connect() you cannot "escape" that slash… At least not in terms of ExtendScript.

Unable to use trial version of inDesign
I just signed up to use the trial version of inDesign, with a new adobe id. It tells me i'm maxed out on the subscription and to use another id. This is a new id, i sign in and it asks for a serial number which i don't have. It tells me i'm on 2 other computers but it's a new id so i'm not sure why it thinks that way.
I'm so frustrated, i've chatted 2x with customer service, one of the told me he had no clue and come back later. The other one said, just purchase the sub. This really defeats the purpose of a trial, since i've never used inDesign and wanted to see if it would be easy to use. I'm also now scared to pay a 1 month fee to try and spend 3 days trying to log in. I've looked in the forums for help, used downloaded cleaner and uninstalled. I was excited about playing with the CS on the cloud, but know i'm just frustrated. Wouldn't a 30 day comp sub solve the problem, which if it works i would commit for the year, i suggested it to the CS chat, and no answer.....
HELP?The 30 day trial of InDesign CS6 should only correspond to InDesign seeing that you've already had it installed on your computer and have used it for 30 days already, not the Adobe ID you're installing it with. Is it possible that you've already tried it a year ago when it was originally released?

My InDesign CS6 has been doing this ever since I uninstalled and reinstalled on new machine. At first it wasn't that bad and thought I would live with it and just hit Ctrl+0 and get the page to fit window. But scrolling up and down in the program should be something I can always do and I need to get to the bottom of this.
Details: I am someone who uses a combination of the alt key and my mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of a document quickly. Well, when I do this from far away (say... 25% zoom) and go to zoom in InDesign moves my layout page randomly down so the bottom half of my page is below the Indesign viewing Window and the top half of my page is above. It's very clear that there is a "snap" that takes my page there. The most annoying part is that even though half of my layout page is off the bottom of the program viewing window, as you can see from the screen shot, there is no option to vertically scroll to center my page in viewing window (using mouse wheel - or vertical bar within program).
I know this is a small issue - But i never had it with my CS6 on my old machine. Is there a setting I do not know about? Like with Guides or something?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,I see some anomalies in scrolling on my Win7 machine with a Logitech mouse, though nothing quite as bad as what you describe. Make sure you have the newest driver (or if you already do, try going back a version), and you can try trashing the ID prefs (see Replace Your Preferences ) though I don't really think that's the issue.

adobe doesn't sell pre cs6 versions of its software.
you would have to take your chances and use a re-seller like ebay or amazon etc. -
Upgrading my Adobe Indesign 3.0.
I have a MAC system 10.5.8. I am using an old Adobe Indesign 3.0 and need to upgrade in order to open an inported document of a newer version. However, I still want access to my old InDesign documents. Which upgrade to I go with and how should this be done?
The only version of Creative Suite that qualifies for an upgrade is CS5 which means you will have to start again and buy the latest version as InDesign 3.0 does not qualify.
You will also need to update you MacOS as 10.5.8 is not compatible with the latest version which is CS6 which is the only version available now.
If you have a PowerPC Mac then you are stuck as you can't update the MacOS beyond 10.5.8. Intel Macs should be OK but it might depend on the particular model. -
Unable to use free version regardless of browser on any machine. I login with adobe id but then the loading screen just hangs. can't get any further - Tried all suggestions like clearing browser caches but no change.
Got a couple of projects i wanted to try this on and if the software works I will probably take a subscription but considering this isn't working at all will look elsewhere.

Have uploaded and installed CC 2014. Several apps give this error when I try to start them: "Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you do not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders"

I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it.
Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??

Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??

this happens from time to time and I think in the past I have done a restart to make it stop. it's possible it only happens while using Adobe InDesign CS3 but I have not watched diligently enough to say for sure. the hard disk repeatedly, every 30 seconds or so, spins up and the entire screen reflows, finishing on the finder with open windows all opening in order. everything moves. then I need to go back to InDesign only to have it happen again. I don't necessarilly touch any keys or the mouse. as I type here it has stopped so maybe it really is an InDesign issue. does anybody know what's going on?

thanks so much for the good advice. I used both of these and now the problem has stopped. first I checked the finder crash logs and yes, my finder had been crashing repeatedly.
next I removed the preferences files from the library, rebooted from the CD and ran disk utility to repair preferences. since then my computer has been stable.
there were some preferences that didn't get repaired when I ran disk utility. I am copying them here to refer to later if I need to. I don't understand what these mean to me:

In my App.Document have different types of textframes and images with several parastyles. I want to make mesurement calculation (in mm)the between the particular parastyle data with image using Adobe JavaScriptExtended.

Like above, I have created data with different format, but I would like to calculate (between <start:> and <End:>)this particular type of data in my app.document.
Note:
1. Parastyles are applied in Adobe Indesign
2. Data from Tagged Text.
3. Mesurement in .jsx [javascriptExtended].
I can mesure this issue, but the image indent was distrub to provide accurate mesurement. Please help me to solve this problems.

Unable to use Adobe Acrobat Reader and/or install version 8.1.2.
I was unable to use my adobe reader so I tried to download 8.1.2 and during installation I get the 1417 error message saying unable to remove version 8.1.2. Will not let me finish the installation process?

When I tried to install msicuu2.exe, Error Message: Windows Script Host Active X component can't create object: 'WScript.Shell' Source Microsoft VB Script Runtime Error.
I edited the registry and remove all versions of Adobe Reader, shut down all software, and still was unable to load Adobe Reader 8.1.2. I contacted my "technical support group" which is HP in India, and they were worthless on this issue. Any help would sure be appreciated as I cannot open any jpg documents. -
I AM UNABLE TO USE MY ADOBE SEND FEATURE. I RESUBSCRIBED BECAUSE THAT WAS THE ONLY OPTION GIVEN. MY CREDIT CARD INFO WAS DISPLAYED. BUT I M STILL UNABLE TO USE THE FEATURE. I DO NOT THINK IT IS TIME FOR RENEWAL OF SERVICE.
I'm sorry that you're having trouble with Adobe Send. I can confirm that you have an active Paid subscription.
Can you tell us what's happening when you attempt to use it?
Are you trying to use it from with Adobe Reader, or from a web browser (at https://cloud.acrobat.com/send)? Or from the Outlook Plugin?
