Unable to use USB ports in Mini docks station type 2504

I have Lenovo T61 laptop and a Mini dock Type 2504... everything works great except the 4 usb port slots in the back of the docking station... I've upgraded my Bios to version 2.26, making sure USB is enable but NO LUCK... anyone else having this issue? I want to use the extra ports

USB ports on 8440p docking station hang.

I have a brand new 8440p in a new docking station. After a few minutes all the USB ports on the docking station go dead. After some power resets the ports come back to life but after a few more minutes the ports hang again. The USB ports on the laptop itself still work. The laptop is running Windows 7. I have replaced the docking station already. Any ideas?

It could be a faulty docking station (or a problem with the design of the device). Is the problem consistent with all usb 3 ports? Have you tried other usb3 peripherals?
I think you should contact the nearest Lenovo service representative if you're still under warranty, or try another docking station with your T530 and your WD, maybe at a Lenovo dealer.

Problem with USB port on X6 docking station and X60 laptop

Hello all,
One of my users is having a problem that when she undocks the X60 laptop from the X6 docking station and then re-docks it later, the devices connected to the USB ports on the X6 docking station are no longer recognized. Even after repeated re-boots I can't get the USB ports to work. The USB ports on the laptop still work, but not on the docking station. Anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

BIOS 2.19 is for X61 series not X60(s).
Here're my solutions.
Solution 1. Unplug all USB devices from docking station. Reset BIOS to defaults, save settings, reboot, plug all devices back. All of them should work now.
Solution 2. Power off your system. Un-dock your laptop. Unplug all USB devices from docking. Re-dock your laptop back again. Power on your system. Plug all devices back again after system booting. All of devices should work now.
I tested both on my X60s working even if it seems rediculous.
Lenovo promised to send me a new docking; however, I don't think it will help unless new BIOS is released to solve this issue.
Note: the kep point is you have to wait to plug all devices back to docking after system boots.

Apple store says ipod mini not working b/c not using usb port 2.0 - true?

My ipod mini (a year old) is frozen/can't be charged. Apple store guy said because I've been using usb port 1.1 and that it is supposed to be used with usb port 2.0. Tells me won't send in for replacement (out of warranty anyway) unless I first update my computer with USB 2.0 card. Is this true?

It's better to use 2.0 because it's faster.
Try resetting it, hold the center [select] button and the menu button until the Apple logo appears. or let the battery die, and then plug it in.

Unable to open USB port device file: Permission denied

I have an up-to-date system (full "pacman -Syu" yesterday), I am in a "lp" group and the printer (Canon Pixma MP270) started to give "Unable to open USB port device file: Permission denied" error, although in the past it worked and still works in Windows. Doesn't anybody have a similar problem?

CUPS worked, I could use CUPS-PDF and localhost:631 was accessible and working.
Today I managed to print again. I did "pacman -Rcsn cups" and reinstalled it again.
My printer is Canon Pixma MP270 and so far it wasn't the best choice for Arch Linux—scanning works fine but it's like throwing a coin when it comes to printing. I've written a simple PKGBUILD for installing its printing driver as a regular package, but I don't know what to set as a license.

Diplay Port on Mini Docking Staion

I have a Thikpad X230 on a Mini Docking Station.
I am tryng to connect either from the DVI or the Display port of the docking station the Display port of an ASUS PA238 screen.
Tried different settings on the X230 but no way to get a signal to the external screen,it is simply not detected.
Same Docking station,same screen, DVI to HDMI port works fine,however... I need to connect to Display Port
on that screen.
Can somebody advise?

Charge Iphone using usb port vs wall plug charger

I always charge my Iphone 5 to usb port on Macbook pro and leave it 5-6 hour after fully charge. Is there any side effect if I charge my Iphone using usb port instead of wall plug charger. Is it iphone will cut off charging after fully charge?

Imac 2013 can't read USB 3.0 HDD Docking Station... HELP!

I just purchased a 27" 2013 iMac. I am using a Plugable USB 3.0 HDD Docking Station to access my internal WD 640gb hard drive. On my MBP it reads just fine but when I plug it into my mac, I get nothing. It doesn't even show up in the Disk Utilities. It's formated to Mac Journaled Extended.
If you can help, I would appreciate it.

appears ihome is going to be coming out with idl100 for ipad mini as a docking station, but no one seems to know exactly when, i am searching for ipad mini docking station with a remote, really don't want to use adapter and stick it on a regular ipod dock because it will be unstable with the higher 8 pin adapter sticking up. does anyone know when the ihome idl 100 is coming out and where to pre order? apple is clueless and has not come up with comparable docking station, i really need to find two of them, for myself and spouse. any ideas? searched the web for hours... just going in circles...

Distortion using USB port for audio output

I did some research in the Mac Mini community regarding the problem I'm experiencing but most of the posts were several years old so I thought I would start a new thread.
I am using one of the USB ports on my 2011 Mac Mini (2.3GHz, i5) to feed a High Resolution Technologies Streamer II USB DAC which then connects to my audio systems integrated amplifier. The issue I'm experiencing is that I am getting distortion when I first open iTunes and start a music track playing. I can hear the music but it is overlayed with this static like distortion. It seems to happen specifically when I first wake the computer from sleep and open iTunes and try to play a track. If I close and reopen iTunes and start a track playing again the distorion usually goes away and all tracks after the initial distortion play fine. I've done troubleshooting with regards to the HRT USB DAC and made sure the Streamer II is operating on its own USB Bus and I've tried a powered USB Hub to feed only the Streamer II but the distortion continues. So aside from the obvious hardware malfunction possibilities I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. Thank you,

Equim A60 Unable to use USB 2 TV Cards

I bought a new equim A60 with the following specification:
Processor speed: 2.8GHZ
Ram: 512MB
Hardisk: 40GB
I have tried to use MSI VOX USB2 TV card and Terratec TV card on the notebook but all did not work with my notebook eventhough it worked with other notebooks and my desktop PC.
I tried the same cards with my friends own which is also Equim A60 and it did not work too. I upgraded my bios but still the same story. Can anyone help me out or this type of computers is not meant to be used with USB 2 Tv cards?

It's strange that you are having problems with your USB TV Cards.
The only possiblilty I can think of is that there's an issue with
the USB port on the A60 series maybe it's unable to deliver the
required data rate.
I'm buying a CameraMate VideoSafe USB capture box this weekend I
hope it wont be suffering similar problems as it would probably
push my laptop to it's limit much like your USB TV cards.
