Unable to utilize full storage capacity

I am running the latest itunes and have updated firmware on my 80 gb ipod classic. I have tried reformatting it and restoring it multiple times, but am not able to write more than approx 34 gb to the ipod. When trying to write more than that, itunes simply freezes, sometimes also completely wiping the ipod as well. I then cannot do anything with the ipod unless i reformat and restore it. Additionally, the ipod emits a weird sound when writing to it at times.
Could this possibly be a scratched harddrive? Or is there a possibility of it being another problem that I could easily fix? How much would it cost to repair, or should I just stick it out until I can buy a new one?

I have had this problem before...I found that I had a corrupt song that iTunes couldn't get past. Find the last song that was able to sync, and look at the very next song in iTunes...make sure that the check mark next to sync only checked songs is marked, then uncheck that song, and try again to sync...

  • My MacBook Pro HD Storage Capacity is getting full with majority of usage classified as Other (126.77GB). What is included as Other and how can I edit and delete unnecessary content?

The Storage capacity on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010, Version 10.10, 4 GB Memory) is getting full. It appears I only have 29.04 GB free of 319.21 GB. The majority of usage is classified as "Other" (126.77 GB) and "Movies" (106.05 GB).  I would like to edit and delete some of the Other content, but what is included in this category? How do I know what is safe to delete? I don't have many documents created. I have saved and filed content from internet sites... do these type of files use a lot of storage capacity (mostly recipes)?
I have very few Apps and have been updating all software regularly.  Mose recent update was Yosemite.

Replace the Time Capsule with one that has a larger hard drive. Or erase the one you have and start a new set of backups or backup one of the computers to a different backup drive.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Get an external hard drive on which to store some of your files after which you can
erase the data from your internal drive to free up space.
      5. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      6. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      7. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.w

  • Storage capacity is stated as being full, but all audio, video, apps, docs, etc. only add up to 7.6 GB out of 12 GB.  iTunes shows that I am all of a sudden using 5.6 GB listed under "OTHER".  What happened?

Why is storage capacity shown as full when it is not? Phone shows storage of only 7.6 GB out of 13 GB, but says I have no more storage.  iTunes indicates I am using 5.6 GB under the category "OTHER".  This is a sudden change.  What happened?

  • Why did remaining storage capacity suddenly change from 3.5 GB to 0.5 G???

When I wanted to synchronise my iPhone 3G yesterday I suddenly recognised that the storage capacity had sunk from 3.5 GB to 0.5 GB. The yellow bar suddenly had become longer and indicated 3 GB more "OTHERS" (other programs) than before. I didn´t have installed anything so far. What can be the reason for this???
    Thanks for all your help!

I restored from a back up. All third party app data and settings seem to be preserved. HOWERVER, I went from 5.73 GB of OTHER Capacity data to 5.81 GB. So restore from a backup file is NOT a solution for this mess.
It seems that this is a file system problem in the OS that has persisted for years from the internet searches I've done.
I'm going to do a full restore, realizing that I will have to re-enter all the data that I did not want to lose. Some of the 3rd party apps have backup/restore import/export features. Some do not.
On a larger scale is this problem 1) acknowledged by Apple as a problem and 2) do they intend to actually solve it (i.e., not suggesting that I restore my phone from scratch destroying my data is actually a reasonable solution)?

  • Storage capacity of the iPod Classic

I see a consistent breakdown of playback capacity for the line up of iPods that goes like this:
    -Classic - 160GB - 36 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Touch - 8GB - 30 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Touch - 32GB - 30 hours of music playback & 6 hours of video
    -Tourch - 64GB - 30 hours music playback & 6 hours of video
This makes no sense to me. Surely having more storage capacity results in the ability to play back more music and video.
I bought the iPod Classic specifically because I assumed it had much more playback capacity than the iPod Touch. Is this not the case for some reason?
Can somebody explain this to me please?
    LD

What your looking at is the playback time of the battery on a full battery charge, not the capacity of the iPod. Enjoy your Classic.

  • RAID3 Storage Capacity Loss

The installation of RAID3 on my workstation has just been completed but I am at a loss to understand why I lost so much storage capacity.
A seven disk (each a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3) RAID3 array with an Areca arc-1880ix-16 controller with a 1TB Samsung F3 Hot Swap by a "professional" from a local computer shop. Upon completion, the 7 TB array yields a total capacity of only 4.54TB.
I expected to lose some capacity but a 35% loss seems out of line.
What capacity loss can normally be expected with a RAID 3 array?
If my 35% loss is out of line, what steps, other than finding a better "professional", might be considered to rectify the situation?

Finally, I have my problem solved thanks to Eric at ADK.
My 8 1TB disk RAID3 array with a hot swap spare now yeilds a total capacity of 5.45TB as Harm indicated it should.
The person who installed my controller and set up my RAID3 system made a number of errors and omissions in the process. After much consternation, I called Eric at ADK and hired him to assist me by remote hook up. Which he did brilliantly.
Along the way, we discovered that the Areca controller utility utilizes a Java version which is not compatible with Windows 7, or at least as it is installed on my system. Neither the Areca download or their CD could be used to install the utility.  Eric found a workaround and got it installed properly.
Eric then went about updating a number of drivers on the workstation as well as adding a few which he thought appropriate to my needs. Then he set about making a number of adjustments to the set ups for the programs in my Adobe CS5 Creative Suite Master Collection. Along the way this technical boob had the opportunity to ask a number of questions and get real clarity on gaining optimum performance from my workstation.
Finally, Eric ran the PPBM5 benchmark test again. I was, frankly surpised that there was no appreciable increase in the speed of my workstation in dealing with the tasks which are part of that test. That, frankly, was of little importance to me as my primary goal to the security of my files.
I simply cannot say enough about Eric and how pleased I am to have him as a resource to turn to when the need arises. He was gracious and patient with me and tenaciously resolved to find the workaround as well as take the additional steps needed to get my system working properly.

  • When I upload my photos to the cloud will the storage capacity in my device be adjusted?

When I upload my photos to the cloud will the storage capacity in my device be adjusted?

See the following quote from iCloud Photo Library beta FAQ - Apple Support
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
If you turn on Optimize [device] Storage, iCloud Photo Library will automatically manage the size of your library on your iOS device, so you can make the most of your device's storage and access more photos than ever. iCloud Photo Library stores the original, high-resolution photos and videos in iCloud and can keep lightweight, device-optimized versions on each of your devices. As long as you have enough storage, recent photos and videos that you access the most will stay on your device at full resolution.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings > Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You need an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.

  • Storage capacity of iTunes on an iPhone

Before I buy and iPhone I would like to know what is the storage capacity of iTunes is on the iPhone, average # of songs. I have 2700 songs stored on my iPod; the AT&T store rep said the iphone wouldn't hold that much but he couldn't tell me what it would hold. Also I understand that music playback uses lots of battery, is this true?

What capacity iPhone are you considering?
My 32GB iPhone 3GS currently has 2552 songs on it and is nowhere near full. It also has 2 TV series and 5 movies, plus 71 applications and 209 photos with 7.7GB free.
It all depends on what quality and length these songs you have are, and the capacity of iPhone you get.
    On a 32GB iPhone you'll easily fit 2700 songs.
Music playback does not use lots of battery. Out of all the things the iPhone can do, music playback is possibly one of the least power hungry.

  • LE-TRA utilization and free capacity

    hello, friends.
i understand that in order to use the utilization and free capacity analyses in LE-Transportation, we must also implement HU Management.  what are the general concepts and procedures/steps for this?
    many thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,
I don't know if I fully understand your question.
From a planning view it is evaluated if a freight unit will fit into a resource. The optimizer will always evaluate if there is free space available. This is done based on the parameters that are in the freight unit and the parameters of the resource.
If you want to evaluate the utilization of your resources this is designed to be done using BI. There is no monitor in TM 7.0. How this is done using BI I don't know. I think that there is not much standard available.
For future releases it is considered to have a more user friendly overview of the resources. Also getting an overview on how much the resources are utilized at the moment. Also to make manual planning easier. Lets wait and see what SAP will produce.
I hope this answers your question.
    Regards,
    Nico

  • Unable to print full page to 1 specific printer while other computers can.

I have 1 computer (Windows 7, 64 bit) which is unable to print full page to a Xerox Phaser 7760GX.  I have other computers (Windows 7 64 bit and Mac OSX Mavericks) which are able to print perfectly fine to the same printer.  This only happens in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, not in other software I have tested.  The same PDF's also print to other printers without problem.
    So far I have:
Re-installed drivers (including the Xerox Generic Drivers)
Set it to print as image (which makes it full screen, but also greyscale)
What happens when I try to print normally, is assume the page is portrait.  It will print it landscape, on the right side of the page (so it takes up half the page).  It will also send out a blank page after it.  Has anyon else experienced this and come up with a different solution?

Glad you solved your problem. On Aperture 3.02 I find no expansion slider. Where is it in 3.01?

    HI Frostyfrog
CHeck out iTunes Match which has an annual fee of £21 or thereabouts. You can store a maximum of 25,000 songs there and they all become available on your other kit, iPhone, iPad and iPod. I know it works as I have over 23000 songs uploaded of which only a few we're bought through iTunes.
it works by comparing your music to the whole iTunes music dadata base so you access the same tunes that you could get from iTunes. If you have obscure stuff, it uploads your own music to the cloud as a copy.
I Find it incredible that on my iPhone with its 16gb memory I can view almost 200 gb of music (ie my 23000 songs) and play any of them. Anything I add to iTunes becomes available via the cloud fairly quickly from a few minutes or a little longer if adding a lot.
The first time you use it it will take quite a while to match your music if you have a lot, but after that it is all automatic. Read the stuff on the apple site. Your PC needs to be at least running Vista. I recommend it and at less than 50p a week it's good value.
    Good luck
