Unable to verify a burned dvd

I saw a similar post had not been answered but I'm hoping I'll have better luck.
Anyone know why this is happening? There is a "Burn Folder" on the desktop which I put all my files that need to be copied onto my dvd but after my unverified error message, I have an Untitled DVD folder on my desktop, even though I've named my DVD already, with a folder icon instead of a DVD icon. Hmmmm.....
Any clue?
Thanks in advance!

My MBP is also unable to verify burned DVDs since my upgrade to Leopard. The discs still work . . . I've tried them on this system as well as two others, but it's still unnerving as I'm trying to make some pretty important backs and archives. (Verification isn't necessary for a usable DVD . . . it's just what it's called . . . a verification that the disc is good)
Don't be concerned about the burn folder . . . that is Apple's way of making it easy to redo a burn if the original one wasn't successful. I suggest trying to view your DVD on another system and see if it did in fact burn. If so, you can delete the burn folder. It should just be a folder with an alias to the file, so you won't be deleting the actual file.
Let's hope there's a fix for this! It's really annoying and frustrating!

  • Unable to read/recognize burned DVDs?

I'm having some issues playing DVDs on my MDD G4. The computer did not come with a SuperDrive, but I installed one myself several years ago. (I'm not remembering the specific brand of the drive I used offhand, but can look it up if it matters.) I moved the ComboDrive the computer came with to the second drive bay.
I'm able to play CDs (store-bought and burned), and store-bought DVDs. But I don't seem to be able to play burned DVDs -- including a pro video I purchased and DVDs I burned myself with this very drive! The computer just doesn't seem to be able to recognize or read the discs, and ejects them (or simply does nothing and the disc doesn't show up in the finder). The problem exists with both drives.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!
    Erin

I have a pretty similar problem. I burn a DVD-R with Toast Titanium 8 and right after i burn the DVD it mounts at the Desktop and it shows the data just right.
After I eject and re-insert the same DVD again ..... after several seconds, the drive ejects the DVD.
I have installed 2 drives, a superdrive (Pioneer DVR-160D) and a combo drive (Phillips CDD5301) and the same DVD does not show on both Drives.
If i take the same DVD to my older Powermac (G4-400) which have installed a superdrive (Pioneer DVR-150D) the same DVD mounts right and works without problems.
I really can't find how to resolve this problem.
    Thank you.

  • I'm unable to burn DVDs on my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    Hello all,
I'm unable to burn DVDs on my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running 10.4.8. When I go to burn a DVD I get one of two codes 0X8002006D, 0X80020022, why is that a 3,000 CPU cant burn a DVD. My Mac is total up to date with all software and firmware. I saw in the Discussions that I'm not the first person to have this issue but I don't see an answer from Apple, I'm pretty sure it not the DVDs (Memorex DVD-R 16X) because my ****** pc can burn them and it was a 100 pack that I used about 50 from it that I burn on both Macs and the ****** PC. I also have a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 with 2.5 GB DDR SDRAM running 10.4.8 which is also unable to burn them and it also comes up with the same errors. I have not had this issue until I updated my Macs to 10.4.8, PLEASE HELP.
    Thanks,
    Coons

Yes I can play CDs and DVDs but I was not able to burn a 4.01GB folder, I have since decreased the folder size to 3.75 and was able to burn the DVD. I'm creating another just to double check, my G5 was unable to complete the task and I also gave a shot at a 2.77GB folder and it failed I also gave a 200Mb file a chance but it still did not burn. I was able to burn the same 200MB file on a CD, PLEASE I NEED HELP.

  • Unable to obtain full screen when burning DVD

I have a trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements
    8. When burning dvd and then playing on my tv through dvd player I am not getting a full screen. The wide screen video covers about 3/4 of the screen instead of the entire screen. The settings I am using are NTSC widescreen dolbyDVD, and Quality is checked with no changes in quality. The preview screen is set  on a magnificatgion fit. The Video is centered on the preview screen. I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem? I have a trial version and not sure if want to purchase with this problem.
I tried to upload the 8.01 up grade and my computer just blinks on and off; will not load?

I have been having the same problems.  See my discussion threads on aspect ratios in the past few days.
Let me share my thoughts on this.  Apparently Elements 8 is optimized to work on 4:3 CRT TV's; HD flat screen TV's must not have made much penetration in India yet.  So when you set the output for NTSC widescreen, what Elements does is compress the widescreen data into a 4:3 frame, squeezing the image horizontally.  Counterintuitively, what you have to do is select NTSC normal.  Then Elements does not further squeeze the widescreen data.  What it then does is fit it into a 16:9 letterbox, still containing the left and right bars, within the 4:3 frame.  Set the DVD to playback in widescreen mode, which expands the letterbox image to full width of the TV, though retaining the left and right bars, then zoom the TV image to full the screen, to eliminate all the bars top, bottom and sides.  Worked for me, but I used a SD camcorder set to record in widescreen.
A better option might be to change the default pixel aspect ratio, which I am yet unable to effectuate.

I am trying to burn an album from iPhoto '09 and I receive the following error message:
The burn to the PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06A drive failed. Verifying the burned data failed.
I have attempted 3 different times using the same media that worked prior to my upgrade to Snow Leopard. Prior to the upgrade I didn't have any problems.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Same for me here...no luck with TDK DL DVD +R. Seems that this drive is extremely picky with DL supports (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1181990).

  • Unable to verify burn, and DU stalling?

    Heres my problem(s). (semi related).
I wanted to install XP on my 2007(8)? Mac mini. and i have done so before. But now here is my problem.
I have a XP iso. So i tried to use DU to burn it to a cd. Well, all was fine until it was done verifying, at this point, it said it was unable to verify (don't remember error, sorry) So, i tried to burn via my New MBP, burned just fine.
Next, i went into boot camp, pert. the drive. gave it 30gigs. When i rebooted, the screen was all black, with a white dash, blinking.
I google this. And people are saying I need to repair permissions. SO i verify permissions and sure enough, need to repair. So, i'm repairing right now, and the progress bar is stalled at 1 min left, (right under the 'i' in 'disk'.) , and its stalled on:
Well, never mind. It was stalled on a warning, but now its log moved, but bar is still stalled. guess ill wait more. but i do have 1 more question.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
    i can has fix?
(incase you don't want to re-read/read)
    1. Possible reasons my Mac mini cant burn anymore? Will not verify and Will not read disk after.
    2. When i boot from my XP cd, the screen is black, with a white dash.
    3. Mysterious DU warning? (see above)
    Any help is welcome <3

  • Unable to burn DVD with iMovie?

    Am fairly dissapointed with Apple.
I have spent time today creating a short movie of photos of my 2 month old son.
When trying to share with iDVD I have realised that my iLife 11 doesn't come with this software and I can't download it!
I am therefore unable to burn my project to disc and feel I have wasted my time.
In my opinion this seriously reduces the usablility of iMovie.
Is there anyway I can burn the DVD without spending a shed load of cash on some third party software??
    Thanks

I was also disappointed when I bought my Mac and it came without iWeb and iDVD.
For burning DVDs, I use a free app called Burn http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html.
You can't do fancy menus or anything that iDVD can, but at least you can get your iMovie Projects onto a DVD.
You have to export your project from iMovie and then drag the .m4v or .mov file that comes out onto Burn (Make sure the Video tab at the top is selected.
Of course, if you have a MacBook Air, you'll need an external optical drive capable of burning DVDs.

  • Unable to burn DVDs because I renamed the drive the project and burn files are on. Please help.

I am unable to burn DVDs because, not thinking, I renamed the external drive the project is on. How do I fix the problem in DVD Studio Pro 4? I changed the name back on the drive, the files show as linked, but it won't burn. I've tried to refresh the assets, didn't help. Relink is not available to try. I tried to go to file/advanced burn & build, but it was not available either. I'm new to all this so am very afraid to trash the preferences, not knowing if I'm going to do other harm.
    Thanks,
    Trish C

Reimport the files and drop them into the project.
    Your links should work.

  • Unable to burn cds or view photos on burned dvd on new (feb 2011) MBP.

I have been unsuccessful in burning photo CDs.  It goes through the whole process and then at the end tells me that it was unable to complete the burn.  I use my old PC to burn the cds because I need the space on my camera.  I forgot about this until today when my photographer gave me a burned DVD of the photos she took of my kids.  The MBP says I inserted a blank dvd.  I went back to her and she pulled them all up on her PC.  I am new to Mac and am feeling like I wasted a ton of money because I have to keep going back to the old pc for all the things I wanted to do on a faster, newer computer

had a similar issue about it "not responding properly" and i went back to apple and got a new superdrive put in and have had no problems since.

  • Unable to burn DVDs on iMac. Folders dragged to DVD window appear as documents. DVDs from same package burned OK last year. Using Lion. CDs burn OK.

Unable to burn DVDs on 2009 iMac ( Lion ). Folders and any files dragged to DVD window appear as blank documents.
Burned DVDs from same package ( Memorex ) last year OK. CDs burn OK. DVDs are several years old, if that matters.

The music is a tune that was purchased/downloaded from the iTune store. The slide shows (five of them) consist of digital photos (jpg) that I have taken. The interesting thing is that I also have an eMac (about three years old) that I have created the same iDVD project (identical music & identical slide shows). I have been able to burn a DVD disk of this project on my eMac WITHOUT A PROBLEM. The thing I do not like about the eMac is that I purchased family pack of iLife 6 last year (because I liked some of the new Themes). However, when I installed it on my eMac, for some reason it takes about 5-10 minutes to get iDVD 6 "up and running." Once it has loaded the Themes, however, I am "good to go." I've had this computer into the "Genius Bar" at the local area Apple Store TWICE and they are unable to get it to work more efficiently. The even reinstalled the entire operating system to no avail. So, the solution is to launch iDVD 6 on my eMac and then go do something else for 5-10 minutes. But at least I am able to burn my iDVD projects to DVDs.
With my iMac, iDVD launches quickly but is useless since I am unable to burn my iDVD slide show projects to DVD.
So, as a result, I am pretty much ready to "call it a day" with the iMac and will go back to my eMac.
    Thanks for your time.

  • UJ-846 Superdrive unable to burn DVD+R

    Hello,
It seems that I can't burn anything on any DVD+R with my superdrive (ref. UJ-846). I've tried with iDVD (initially I wanted to burn one of my home-made movie on DVD), Disc Burner, DiscBlaze, Dragon Burn. Each time, the answer is the same : media is not writable. Is it normal for a "Superdrive" advertised as "Universal"?
Is there a way to solve this issue, for the moment I don't have any other media within reach and anyway, not to be able to burn a DVD+R is like not to be able to burn anything...

More info after some additional testing:
Burned a few DVDs using the internal UJ-846 and Pioneer DVR-109 (in a firewire case). The source image was a Tiger DVD (from an earlier Mac). I used Burnz and Disk Utility to burn two DVD+R's (HP brand) in the DVR-109 and Toast and Disk Utility to burn the same brand discs (and a DVD+RW) in the UJ-846.
In the case of the DVD+RW, I received the message that it could not calibrate the device to the media (both in Toast and Disk Utility).
From the DVR-109 burns, my old G3 iBook spit out the resulting discs as unreadable. The iMac (UJ-846) did read the discs but took about 30 seconds from the time of disc insertion until the window showing the Installer appeared completely. The DVR-109 displayed this window 16 seconds after insertion.
I then burned (using Toast) a data DVD using the same DVD+R media. This disc was burned as "Mac & PC" hybrid. The contents of the disc were folders full of audio files. Again, the G3 iBook refused to read the disc while the UJ-846 took about twice as long as the DVR-109 to mount and open the disc.
Finally, I burned (using the DVR-109) a Verbatim DVD-R "white-top" printable (8X, pn94654, hub printable, no stacking ring) using the Tiger image file as the source. The resulting DVD was not only was readable in the old G3 iBook but booted it, as well.
I should note that these discs, when burned with my G5's internal burner (DVR-117 which, I believe, is the DVR-110 but with Apple firmware) would work fine for data (and boot discs) but never produced a video DVD that would play in my set-top box.
Now, just to be a bit more thorough, I dug up some DVD+R's that I've burned over the past few years. Sonuvagun! Not one of them can be read by the G3 iBook's optical drive. So it's apparent that the old drive just doesn't like +R of any brand (Ridata, HP, JVC).
Okay, so what have we (I) learned from all this (if anything)?
It is tempting to say that the results with the old G3 iBook might be ignored because it is, after all, one of the first (500MHz) units produced and everything is much more compatible these days. However, shouldn't a burned DVD (of either the + or - persuasion) be seen as simply a DVD by the Mac once it's been burned? My Intel iMac shows a "+R" or "-R" as part of the disc's icon yet these are =burned= discs. Perhaps I do not remembers when this behavior had changed but I recall that the "+" or "-" ID was only on discs that had yet to be burned; subsequent to burning, this ID was dropped. (or so I recall...)
Could it be that the "+R" compatibility claims are overstated? But what of the "+RW" disc that gave the "can't calibrate..." error? Should I chalk it up simply to media incompatibility? I have some "+RW" media (HP brand, identified by Toast as "PHILIPS.041."); testing that media results in a successful erase and burn/verify using the UJ-846; no "calibrate..." error as experienced with the Memorex +RW's. Toast sees the disc as a 4X and offers to burn it at that speed but it is really burning at 2X based upon the slow speed of the countdown in Toast's window.
I remember reading something about "book-type" when I used to burn with a PC; perhaps that's an issue? Or maybe that's just a red herring.
In any case, I'll have to do some more testing with a few more older Macs to see if they can read the older DVD+R & +RW I already have and any new ones I burn with the U-846 and DVR_109 using Intel OSX in my iMac.
    Comments and suggestions always welcome.

  • Unable to burn dvds

I am unable to burn dvds. I'm attempting to backup my iphoto library. When I drag and drop I get an alias icon on the dvd, it does not copy. When I go ahead and try and burn, the disk is ejected and i get them message, "an error has occured" This is my first attempt at burning a dvd.
    Do I need additional software?

Do you use PLUS or MINUS media?
Take a look at system profiler whether your drive is capable of writing the format you have chosen.

this recorder for satellite pro m-40, is strange; i am able to boot from dvd, read dvd data, burn cd but, unable to read or burn film data (original); i have already try it with few dvd film without success!
    Any idea?
    thanks!

    To malossi:
You dont have the similar problem because the user above cannot read and burn ONLY the original DVD movies!
    > i am able to boot from dvd, read dvd data, burn cd but, unable to read or burn film data (original);
In your case possibly the drive is dead or not compatible with the media (but I dont think so).
Check this Microsoft site for some general ideas:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321641/en-us
I have read also that someone was having this problem, and found that going into hardware profiles for the CD Rom that wasn't reading, clicking on the advanced tab, and selecting "PIO only" instead of "DMA if Available" worked in win XP sp2. Maybe you will try these.
