Unable to verify iMessage address?

Okay, so I was on my iPod earlier and realized I couldn't send iMessages. It was working perfectly fine yesterday, but today it didn't work. I've had it for a couple months now, and its 4th gen ios 5.0.1. Heres how it happened:
I was trying to send an iMessage, and it wouldn't deliver. Yes my wifi was on, i turned it off then on again, then turned off iMessage and signed out and powered off/on, but then when I tried to sign back in after it wouldn't let me. It would try verifying but in the end it would just say "Unable to verify address. An email with a verification link has been sent to the above email address."
I checked my email. Nothing. What happened, and can I fix it? I also tried a different email (knowing it was invalid) then tried putting in my actual one and yet, it wouldn't verify? Take in note, that it worked for months up till yesterday so YES, my Apple ID is verified. Help!
Please don't tell me to check the 'More Like This' because I can't find a solution for me in there.

I'm having the same problem.  I sign into iMessage on my iPad, then continue to verify that main email, but it fails.  I have checked on the site below to see that it has already been verified.  Same deal with FaceTime.  Tried rebooting iPad, same issue.
TIP: you can use the site below to view your account and resend validation emails.  But for me, even the validated ones are not being accepted.  Maybe that server is down?

    I am unable to update my ipad apps because I have to verify my billing info. It keeps telling me that they are unable to verify my address which doesn't make sense to me because Its the only place i've lived in for the past 2 years and I've had no issues before!     This has not happened to me, but a month or so ago there were a couple of threads on the same topic.  Seems Apple did a change in their security, and runs a check comparing the addres they have on file for you against the mailing address associated with you credit card, and if it is not an exact match, they freeze the account.  From the discussion, they are very specific.  "st." vs "street" and that sort of thing.  Get your last bank statement and compare the adress carefully against what address you have on file, and see if that clears the account.

    I recently updated to the new iOS 5 on my iPod Touch 4G, and when trying to sign in to either Facetime or iMessage it gives me this message for one of my apple IDs: "Unable to verify address. An email with a verification has been sent to the above email address." No email has been received so far.
    For my other Apple ID, it says "Unable to verify address because it is already in use". My two Apple IDs have their own email address, and I use both to shop on iTunes, so I have no idea what the problem is.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is gettint frustrating.

    Hello,
    I recently bought my daughter an ipod touch and set it all up and it was working fine with her email address. Unfortunately, we had to exchange it as it developed a fault. I am now in the process of trying to setup facetime and IM but when I enter her email address it says 'unable to verify email because it is already in use'. I have tried to troubleshoot this through the communities on here but the only information I can get relates to having more than one apple id which I don't. My daughter is too young to have her own so we use mine. I never had this issue when I had to reset my ipod.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Yes, I have tried this but I only have one apple id so this doesn't aply to me. I checked my account details and this email wasn't veerified. I clicked on the 'verify now' action but nothing happened. I did chec the 2 emails linked to this id and the spam folders but there was no verification email in any of them. I also tried deleting the email from my account and re-adding it but this didn't work either. I'm stumped!

    I have redeemed an itunes gift card and when I attempted to purchase a song, it said that I was using a new computer to access my account and therefore needed to verify my billing information. I did this and it told me it was "unable to verify my billing address". I checked it over and over again, thinking it may be my error but to no avail. I don't know what to do! Any suggestions?

  • Game Center - Unable to verify email address

    I bought both my boys an ipod touch 4th gen. Set up new apple ID's for gamecenter because I didnt want them under my ID since I use it for my iphone. Problem is when they try to add friends it tells us that their email is not verified. We did the verification email.
    Only thing I can think of is when we set it up there was an option to send terms & conditions to parent or guardian. I didnt click this because I was setting it up.
    Is there a way to get their ID's to work or reset gamecenter to send the terms & conditions to me, I'm thinking that is why they cannot add. All other parental controls are set accordingly allowing them to play games and add friends. Any help is appreciated.

    Same to me on my iPhone (German). My account email is working, but it's not the same address my friends want to add me. When I want to verify the other email address it says we sent an email to you to verify. But I didn't get any email, no matter if I repeat the process or delete the address and add it again.
    At all I think the App is not the best. When you touch a link, there is nothing which shows you that there is something in progress. You only have to wait until a new page appears. Why could this App don't use the general interface. The App is from Apple, isn't it????

  • Icloud will not back up because it says email address not verified.  I am not getting a link in my email to follow to verify account, checked email address listed is correct, so how do I verify email address when I dont get the email link?

    I am unable to verify email address to sign in to icloud so that I can backup my stuff.  I am not getting an email from apple to follow a link to verify email address.  I have checked to make sure the email address is correct in the icloud settings, but all it will tell me is to check my email for instructions on how to verify my account.  I am not getting the email!  Please help, I am able to sign in to my itunes account and buy new music all the time!  I get my itunes receipts and everything, and know the email is correct so what is the deal?

    If you have given correct info about you ios 6.1.3 - all you need to do is delete account. You will be able to sign in with new one afterwards. Make sure you don't delete any info when you see those prompts.

    Trying to set up iMessage on my iPod Touch (iOS5).  I have a valid Apple ID, and it has been verified. I received the verification link via email on my computer, clicked it, and the Apple ID has in fact been verified.   I even received the "Welcome" email from iTunes letting me know how to dowload music, video etc..
    BUT when try to launch iMessage on my iPod Touch, I get the message, "Unable to verify address.  An email with a verification link has been sent to the above email address" However, no such email has been sent.  I logged back into my Apple ID and checked my account, and everything's been verified.
    Help!

    I've found the answer to this (at least for me)!
    The problem is I have 2 AppleIDs. One from before MobileMe which I use to make iTunes purchases (which is linked to my @me.com email) and the second is my MobileMe email address used for MobileMe syncing.
    Each AppleID has to be linked to a separate email address. Because my iTunes Apple ID is linked and verified to my @me.com address. My @me.com AppleID address can't be verified.....quite confusing at first but starts to make sense once you get your head around it!

    Seems unlikely that the email address would already be in use if it wasn't associated with a different Apple ID.  If the iPod is new you should be within the 90-day free support window.  Try contacting support by clicking on Get Started here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.

    I just erased all data on my itouch, reseted it, and set up a new account on itunes to sync. But when I added my email to facetime and imessage, it said "Unable to verify email because it is already in use.". I don't know how to separate it from the previous itouch account.
    this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3510 told me to log on to apple id and unlink but i cant figure out how
    especially since i synced a new account onto my itouch

    Try a different email address. If need be, create a separate iD that you will use only to activate FaceTime.

    That shows my primary address is used in verification of another account. But I am sure all my apple id's are not verified until today.
    So my next question is: how can my primary address have been verified for another account? How do I found that account.
    I do not know the answer to that question, and I don't think the answer would help you.
    Even if you knew how it was verified, you would still not be able to use it for FaceTime activation or your caller iD because the database has recorded it as already having been used for a different account.
    Unless you get a better suggestion, use a different email address with FaceTime.

    I have just upgraded iOS on both my iPhone 4 and iPad 1.  iMessage on the iPhone is working fine.  When I try to activate it on the iPad, I've been getting the error message: "Unable to verify email because it is already in use."
    When I first started the iPad after upgrading the iOS, I entered the Apple ID/password combo that I have used for my iPhone (which is the same as my MobileMe ID/PW).   This is the only ID/PW that I have been using with Apple.  I was under the impression that you could use the same email address for both devices.
    Would someone kindly advise.  How can I set up iMessage on the iPad?  What am I doing wrong?
