Unable to view flash in PDF in Safari

Hello,
We recently upgraded to PDF Reader XI and Flash player on our MAC computer. We have PDF files with flash content embedded. When we open these PDFs using Safari browser on MAC we are unable to view flash content in PDF. However if we download then we can see flash content in PDF Reader XI.
How do we view flash content within Safari directly?
Thanks

ps. I found same issue with Safari on windows7 also.

In the Safari Preferences, under Security, make sure that "Allow all other plug-ins" is checked in both Mac and Windows versions

    Unable to view google and facebook in safari on ios 7.0.3 on my ipad mini. The page is trying to reload repeatedly and chrome browser is written on the tab where google/Facebook should be.

    I am not sure of the reasons but that is the normal
    appearance in Safari, at least it is what I have seen. I think the
    issue is how Safari handles things rather than what RoboHelp
    produces.
    In looking at other help products before going for RoboHelp,
    did you download some trial versions of other products and have you
    checked their output in Safari?
    Maybe someone with more knowledge of Safari can comment?
    For what it may be worth, only 1.3% of the visitors to my
    site use Safari so that wouldn't upset me too much. Of course the
    percentage may be different and more important for you. I suspect
    Safari users are used to such things.
    Right or wrong, IE and Firefox are the biggies.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Does Safari support a interactive PDF with hidden layers? I'm on version  5.0.3 and the interactive PDF displays just fine, but our web development team tells me all the layers display when they view the same PDF on Safari.

    Does Safari support interactive PDFs with layers? Through the use of hidden layers and buttons we built in interactivity that allows the viewers to click on buttons to display different content. When I view the PDF in Safari 5.0.3 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 the PDF displays fine and the interactivity works. However our web design firm tell me the PDF displays all the hidden layers when they view it in Safari. Who's right?

    Try updating your Safari to the latest version, 5.0.5.
    Also check whether the rest of your system is up to date by going to Software Update in the Apple menu.

  • Unable to copy text from PDF in Safari

    Where did the Copy command ability go when viewing a PDF in Safari? In a recent Safari update, the functionality has disaapeared. Prefer not to take the extra step to Save As, then open in Preview or Adobe Reader just to copy a word or line of text. Suggestions please.

    Disregard question, found it. Right click, or Ctrl+click to use submenu to Copy.

  • Unable to view flash videos in Firefox. Please help.

    Hi there,
    I've tried all the troubleshooting from Firefox's troubleshooting guide to no avail.
    I'm unable to view videos that require flash.
    I can watch YouTube, but I have to enable flash first.
    This has never happened before, but now it won't go away.
    System: Windows 7 (64-bit)
    Adobe Flash version: 16.0.0.287
    Browser: Firefox 35
    An example of videos that I used to be able to watch were from the Arrow and, ironically, The Flash TV shows.
    Now this is the error I receive:
    CWTV requires Flash Player 10.2.0 or higher.
    Arrow Video - The Climb | Watch Online Free
    Please help!
    Best regards,
    JM.

I thought it did not save properly, so I went to the Website and downloaded it again to save int he same folder. But then, I see that file saved as pdf. If it is saved, why can I not see it when I open the folder through my applciations? I did this several times, but to no avail.Can someone help? Thanks

    Try this ...
    Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go.
    If you see the:  AdobePDFViewer plugin in the Internet Plug-Ins folder, move it to the trash.
    Restart your Mac and try opening a PDF file.

  • Why is the aspect ratio altered when viewing my sample PDF in Safari?

    I am wondering if everyone else is seeing my pdf with the apsect ration altered. It looks squished horizontally in Safari. Many creatives view my samples in Safari.
    I want to make sure they are viewing it correctly. It is a reflection on me otherwise.

    Can anyone view and tell me what they are seeing in Safari? and Firefox. I see in Firefox it is fine on my end.
    Thanks for any help you can provide.

    @Ken G. Rice
    @anita1390
    I am sorry I have been away and have not answered promptly. I am using 10.8.3 Safari 6.03.
    In Firefox the problem does not show up so I'm thinking it's not the PDF.
    But, I have had this file work in Safari at first and then it suddenly, without my changing a thing, it gets squished.
    I used Creative Cloud InDesign to produce the PDF and haven't noticed any of my other files rendering badly (squished for lack of a better word).
    I am not aware of any setting choices in the PDF that addresses the "aspect_rattio": 1.29.
    This particular PDF I used the "smallest file" w/customized settings of 144 dpi resolution for a better printout. to keep the file to a minimum size. As is, it's about 5 megs.
    Thanks for your help!!! I look forward to any more info you can provide.
    @Ken G. Rice
    FYI: I went to the link you provided me: https://creative.adobe.com/file/3f4c592e-45fa-42c9-8f96-63bef6f8ce5b
    I repproduced the problem when I refreshed my browser screen. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but at the same time I clicked on Develop/UserAgent/Safari 6.03 – Mac and there it was again... "squished".
    Your link in Chrome renders it "squished".
    Acrobat renders it correctly on my MBP.
    Here is another link to an 11 x 8.5 file and yet it does not squish. Made the same way in CS6 InDesign. Notice the size in the righthand side bar says width and height in pixels. My original link does not have this information. That's curious????

  • Unable to view all the pdf menu bar in internet browser

    We are working on a web application where we have to provide options to users to edit pdf directly(like changing the text) and save to the server again. I installed acrobat professional on my machine to develop the code. But when i open the pdf in my web application(i.e Microsoft Internet Browser..) it is just showing few tool bars, but i need to load all the menu bars so that user can use all the menus which is available for adobe professional. Thanks for your help.

    When viewing a PDF in a web browser, one is using a special plugin for the web browser to read PDF files. I have the same problem when I have an Excel file opened in a web browser, there is no Excel menu bar or toolbars.  You might be able to add some JavaScirpt to the PDF to display the necessary tool bars.
    I always wondered why they call these internet viewers browsers.

  • Unable to open password protected PDF in safari

    Dear all, I'm new in using iPhone safari. I have problem in opening password protected PDF file from safari. Do you have any solution or workaround to resolve this problem
    Regards
    BR

    You can put pretty much any character into the encryption password for a PDF file apart from control codes (carriage returns, backspaces, etc), but whether the vendor's website can is another matter!
    As you seem to have a PDF with a user password that isn't what you expected, there's nothing you can do to remove it other than perhaps trying a version without the quote characters, or with a backslash in front of the quote (it's possible they escaped the string on the login form in preparation for storing it in a database, and forgot to unescape it again).

  • Unable to view Flash content after Norton Utilities scan

    I ran a Norton Utilities scan yesterday, and afterwards various websites looked extremely strange in Firefox. Worse, I lost the ability to view embedded videos on such sites as the BBC, YouTube etc.
    Further testing this morning shows that the problem isn't with ALL video content. There are SOME YouTube videos that I can view perfectly well, for example. And while I cannot view content in the MLB.com media player, some embedded video on the homepage seems to work fine.
    I have updated my Flash plugin to the latest version and the Adobe website tells me it is working correctly. Any ideas what could be causing the problem? Did Norton Utilities delete some file that I actually needed? I have read some forum answers about other problems that suggest I should disable Norton scans with respect to the Firefox folder, and I will do that - but how do I fix the problem it has caused? I have tried a system restore to no avail.
    I have Firefox 12 running on a Win7 x64 machine. And by the way, the 'weird-looking websites' problem mentioned above seems to have been fixed by reloading each one in turn.

    Before using any of these 'cleaning' programs, I always save my Firefox and Thunderbird profiles (includes cookies, emails etc) using a freebie program MozBackup - mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/.
    If your Firefox then gets cleaned out, you can easily recover it. You can also
    get back profiles for as far back as you want, as long as you keep all the backups.
    Best wishes. CD

    I have installed Flash 9 all ok. I checked safari preferences and all ticked under web content. I checked Quiktime Mime and under misc. it is not checked however I do check this (tick) and it seems to not stay ticked.
    I would appreciate any advice.

    Hi Ron
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    The Misc. Mime setting ought to remain unchecked. Also, in the System Preferences>QuickTime advanced panel, "enable flash" ought to be checked.

  • Unable to save or print .pdf using Safari 7.02. and Reader 11.0.6. (reinstalled reader) files ("save

    Using Mac 10.9.2 and Reader 11.0.6 and Safari 7.0.2, problem seems to be linked to Safari
    Files - using "save as" (.pdf) or "print as" (.pdf) appear as adobe single-page blank documents.  When attempting to open them the following error message appears: "Adobe Reader could not open "filename.pdf" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
    Files created under previous versions of Reader are fine.  No problem converting an existing .doc to .pdf using  Reader 11.0.6
    Any suggestions?

    Hi ramsey32 ,
    Thank You for posting in the forums. Kindly help with the information listed below for further assistance.
    1) Does the PDF open fine in safari
    2) Do you get a floating toolbar at the bottom, if yes, choose the save icon from there to save the PDF
    3) Do the files open fine with Preview?
    Thanks,
