Unable to view offline folios on ipad with Adobe Content Viewer

I am suddenly unable to view offline folios on my iPad with Adobe Content Viewer. These are folios I was able to view 2 days ago. Updated InDesign, reinstalled the Content viewer, tested on 2 computers with 2 difffernt iPads and 2 different cables. Is anyone else having this problem?

This is a known issue, please see http://status.adobedps.com/ for updates.

  • 360 panorama not shown in preview on iPad with Adobe Content Viewer

    Hello Forum -
    I have a weired problem with the 360 panorama…
When I create the panorama using the overlay creator everything works perfect and the desktop preview is showing the panorama very fine.
On the ipad (after login with my adobe ID and downloading the Magazin) I get only a white page after tapping the defined Preview image.
    I tried:
_deleted all images from the original folder
    _renamed the files
    _created the Overlay again
_reloaded the images into the InDesign Document
_published again to the Adobe server
_deleted the "Content Viewer" from iPad
    _installed new "Content Viewer"
Still an my DesktopViewer everything is fine, but the 360 wont work
btw. all other elements like slideshows, videos, scrollable text etc. is working
    Any Ideas or Solutions?
    Best regards, gutsche

Try opening the six images in Photoshop and using Save for Web & Devices to save the files. Try creating smaller files.
The current files you're using might be too much for the iPad to handle.

  • Folio not opening in adobe content viewer

About a year ago, I created a magazine with Digital Publishing Suite for a college course and uploaded it to my ipad in Adobe Content Viewer. It was from a school computer and version of Indesign so I don't think I'd be able to reload the file onto the content viewer app if I needed to. When I open the content viewer, I see the cover of my magazine alongside an Adobe file that says "Release". This Adobe file is newly there, and so is a blue plug icon on the top corner of my magazine. When I click my magazine, the little info "i" turns into a spinning symbol, as if it were loading. However, nothing loads and nothing happens. I left it for hours and nothing happened. When I click to open the Adobe release file, it opens to a light grey screen with no content, buttons, or anything. There is nothing I can click on or do so it forces me to exit and quit the app.
Can someone please help me in figuring out what is causing it to not open? I'm frustrated at this point and am nervous to delete and redownload the app in case my file is lost. Like I said, not sure if it would still be there or if I could get it back again. (I also am signed into the app with my Adobe ID, if that helps)
    Thanks!

Unfortunately you need to uninstall and reinstall the Adobe Content Viewer app, and doing so will result in the loss of the folio you see because you added it to the device using Preview on Device. Since you did this a year ago there have been several iOS changes that required updates to the application. There's really no way to resolve this without uninstalling, reinstalling, and then putting the content onto your device again.

  • Folio not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on some iPads

I have been working on developing an app for iPad in InDesign CS6 using Adobe DPS. For the most part, the process was working smoothly until recently. Once signed into Adobe Content Viewer on my third generation iPad, the folio shows up fine and downloads as expected. However, when others with older iPads download Content Viewer and sign in, they do not see the folio as an option. For example, a person with a second generation iPad, who has the latest iOS, was unable to see the folio in the viewer. I have stripped the app down to about 40megs, thinking size might have been an issue, but after multiple users have experience identical results, I don't think that is it. Has anyone had a similar issue, and is there anything I can do on my end to make the app compatible with a wider range of iPads?

Is it a single-folio app or a multi-folio app? If you set up renditions for a multi-folio app, only the appropriate rendition is available for a device. See this article about renditions:

  • Folio not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on ipad

folio i created in indesign cs5.5 not appearing in Adobe Content Viewer on ipad.
I have CS5.5, Apple ipad 1st gen ios 5.0.1 Adobe content viewer 1.9.1
the folio appears on the acrobat.com site in the FOLIO PRODUCER
but nothing is appearing on my ipad in the Adobe Content Viewer.
I work for a large magazine publisher and would like to demo the folio on the ipad to sell the concept of the DPS.
However if i cant get this on my device, its going to be a no go.
    Help please.
    Thanks,
    James.

    Thanks Ants,
Your doubts motivated me to do some testing on the subject;-)
I made several files of different dimensions, and uploaded them to the cloud. All of them rendered correctly on the desktop. But only those which used exact 4:3 width:height ratio  appeared in the Content Viewer on the iPad. And only those, which were at least 1024x768px. A perfect 4:3 document sized 768x576 did not show. But the 1536x1152 one appeared correctly.
I am still certain, that the reason of absence od James' file in his iPad was caused by the dimensions of the folio. I would however modify my statement:
Only the folios sized exactly 1024x768 px (Landscape, portrait or both orientations) are valid for iPad
It should be: Only the folios sized 1024x768 px or more, with exact 4:3 ratio (Landscape, portrait or both orientations) are valid for iPad.

  • Problem with Adobe Content Viewer for ipad

    Hello,
I created an application from folio bulider 1.350 gigabytes.
Once downloaded using Adobe  Content Viewer on Ipad i can display it without any problems, but when I turn off the Ipad or delete Adobe Content Viewer by applications running in the background, and I open again Adobe Content Viewer that I get stuck and does not open.
Adobe Content Viewer I see in the background but does not stay open and do not show my application.
Should I delete the Adobe Content Viewer from iPad, download it again from the App Store and re-download my application.
It could be a problem of size? 1.350 gigabytes is too much?
It could be a problem version of indesign? I use version 5.0
    Thanks and looking answers ...
    Greetings to all

Hi - Thanks for your answer Neil - but i dont have the time to go further more into this kind og endless story´s"... I used more than 6 hours now! - I am in the fortunate position that time is still money....
It seams to be a better idea to go and bye a new computer or "format" your harddisk and re-install everything. No of this panel links or Google-endless-story´s try solving the problem is working for me.
Adobe come on! - You can do better ... when you google this problem, I am certainly not the only one asking.

  • Errors on Android custom viewer published by VB 1.7 & Adobe Content Viewer (2.2.0.0.34183)

We've been testing an Android viewer for several months, and recently updated viewer builder to the latest version(1.7).
The VB1.7's iPad custom viewer is just ok to show latest and previous folios,
but it's Android custom viewer doesn't properly process the latest folio, published by Folio Producer 1.7.
Previous folios are well processed, but the viewer only shows gray screen for the latest folio, with some unexpected screen errors.
Also it seems that this happens on the latest Adobe Content Viewer for Android(ver. 2.2.0.0.34183) as well.

    Hi!
When i try to install Adobe Content Viewer from Android Market, i get the next error:
Installation error. Package file was not signed correctly.
My tablet is Samsung Galaxy Tab 7".

  • Re-download problem with Adobe content viewer

Every time I close Adobe Viewer and then reopen it, my libary updates and I get the cloud downlaod icon on my publication. This happens even when that folio doesn't need updating. I dont want to redownload the same file everytime I open the app. This is especially a problem if Im in an area with no WiFi. How do I get around this issue?

Make sure you have the most up to date version of the viewer and stick to
alpha numeric characters in the folio name.

  • Testing on multiple iPads via Adobe Content Viewer

    Hi there,
I'm developing a single-edition folio for use at a small conference.
We're hiring iPads for the duration of the day and a few days beforehand.   The folio would be used once, and have no further use after the conference (it's got agenda, speaker information and a couple of FormsCentral forms to submit Q&As via).   I'm reluctant to publish via the App Store, as our timescales are extremely tight and the app may not get approval in time for the event (our management are notorious for last minute changes!)
I'm wondering if I can successfully load the ACV app to multiple iPads (40), with one Adobe ID and have the folio downloaded to each app for testing prior to the event?  Or would I therefore need multiple Adobe IDs to accomplish this (sign-in conflicts)?
It's well out of our budget and remit to use Enterprise edition for a one-off, single use event, however, if I can demonstrate the platform works well - it may be something our department would invest in for longer-term use.
Any advice appreciated, as this is the first time I've done this.

Thanks Bob, I suspected it might be you who replied.  Great blog, and very useful!
I've tried creating a new Adobe ID for testing, but I can't sign into ACV with the credentials (it says Authentication Failed), but can sign into Acrobat.com and other Adobe services with those credentials fine... and I can also sign in with my own credentials straight away - so not an issue with the service.
Also - if I try to share the Folio with this new Adobe ID - the email notification never arrives (it's a Gmail address) - I have also tested via another email platform (Office365) and that doesn't arrive either.
Probably just having one of those days!

  • A flash of white before animation plays on iPad in Adobe Content Viewer

Hi Everyone, I'm creating Edge animations and importing the .OAM files into my layout in InDesign CS6 for the Mac, then using the Digital Publishing Suite to publish to iPads.
On an InDesign page where I have solid color background, the frame where I have the .OAM file placed in always flashes white before it animates. I've colored the background of the Edge file, I've placed a PNG that has that color as a background in Edge, I've colored the background in InDesign, and I've given that graphic box the .OAM is placed in a color. The little spinning wheel I can live with, but the flash of white looks like I did somethign wrong. Is there a workaround?
    Thanks!

Hi, I haven't implemented this myself yet but came across it in Apple's support documentation, complete page here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5068
    This bit specifically:
    About opening the HTML widget
Depending on how complicated your HTML Dashboard widget is, your readers may experience a flash during HTML initialization when they open the widget in iBooks. To avoid this flash, modify your Dashboard widget so it tells iBooks when to switch from displaying the Default.png file to displaying the running HTML widget.
Make these three modifications to add this optional feature:
Add a IBNotifiesOnReady item set to true in the Dashboard widget's info.plist file, so iBooks knows this Dashboard widget will tell it when to switch to displaying the running HTML widget:
    <key>IBNotifiesOnReady</key>
    <true/>
Set your Dashboard widget to load the Apple javascript library:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="AppleClasses/AppleWidget.js"> </script>
Set your Dashboard widget to let iBooks know when the HTML initialization begins, and iBooks can switch from showing the Default.png file to displaying the running HTML widget by calling (in javascript):
    widget.notifyContentIsReady()
Important: If you choose to modify your Dashboard widget to avoid the flash, be sure to do all three of the above steps. You must compete all of the steps for this to function properly.
I hope it fixes your problem!
