Unable to view PDFs from the Safari browser.

I am using Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader 10.1.0, running on OS 10.6.8.  Until recently I had no problem but am now unable to view PDFs from websites.  What I get is a totally black document.  I can create PDF files which I can also open outside of the internet.  Any ideas??

There seems to be an issue with Adobes plugin and Safari 5, your options are:
Wait for it to be updated.
Uninstall the plugin nd let Quicktime handle it.
Install Schuberts PDF plugin from http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/

  • Unable to view PDF files in web browser iphone4s

I am having problems with viewing PDF files on iphone4s.
I used to be able to view the PDF files in the web browser (mobile and desktop)but now I can't . I am using hotmail.co.uk account.
I can view the PDF file on the 'Mail' app on the the iphone, but as I have a '3 day push' limit I goto the web browser to view but the message comes up 'viewing of PDF files has been disabled in Microsoft word mobile, please contact your administrator'.
The only way I current can view the PDF file  in the browser is to send the email back to my self and view it in the mobile version of the hotmail website. Cannot see the attachment at all in the mobile hotmail website at all prior to re sending it to my self now the desktop version before or after sending the attachment back to my self
    Hope there's no confusion
    Thank you

Oh ok thanks , seemed kinda odd that it started to happen all of a sudden. I checked all the settings etc in hotmail account no luck . I will get onto their website.
    Thanks for your reply.
Meanwhile, If someone has experienced this problem please let me know

  • Unable to read pdfs from the web on my mac

i've read all the advice about re-installing Adobe Flash (and deleting past versions) and have followed the advice (and restarted my computer) but to no avail.  When I try to open a pdf from a website I only get a black screen.  Any advice?

    Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Unable to see pdf from a web browser on a android tablet

I recently brought the toshiba tablet to use for uni. Uni puts pdfs on the web site (lecture notes) when i click into the pdf on my tablet it opens to a blank screen. I was wondering if it was my adobe reader and if so how do i change this so i can see the pdfs ?? I have tried other browser an they do the same thing..

This sounds like a great feature. Taking a picture and uploading to a printing service. On a computer, you normally get a "Finder" that lets you traverse your hard drive for files to upload. Since the iPhone is OSX you would think you could do that. But if not, it would be cool if you could select you photos to upload them, but then only uploading photos would work, so if you found a site that would let you upload a file (not a picture) it wouldn't work. Another application, say you are on vacation. You take some pictures and want to put them on a website. Of course then you would need to be able to upload files (html), etc. Oh well.

  • HELP! Unable to View Notifications from the Locked Screen

    Hi,
I need help. I just purchased recently a Z3 Compact phone. I'm a previous Sony User -- which was X10 Mini Pro so somehow I'm a bit atuned to some (though not all) settings, but what I find strage is that when I have text messages or other notifications with my phone that I need to view, I'm unable to drag and see my notifications.
Can someone have an idea please? Is there something in the setup I need to fix or do? Or is this something I just need to bring to the customer service for assistance.
    Please help.
    Your help is much appreciated.

After 3 years experience with iPhones I was looking forward to find out a nearby solution.
Floatify is a good  app  that you can handle notifications in lock screen.
When Z3c is going to upgrade to Android 5 we will manage this notifications without any external app.
    Till then try this.
I think you are gonna be satisfied

  • Unable to View PDFs in Safari on iOS 8 devices

Ever since I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 7 they have been unable to open PDFs in the Safari application. All I see is a blank grey screen with no indicators that the page is loading or anything of the sort. I recently purchased a new iPhone 6, which is now running iOS 8.1.2 and the problem persists. New device, new iOS, same problem. I have been using an iPad (3rd gen.) since 2012 now and it still cannot open PDFs in Safari. I have been unable to figure out a solution anywhere and nearly everyone online that provides an answer says to simply reset all settings. I've done that several times. The fact that the problem carried over from my old iPhone 5 to my new iPhone 6 tells me I must have some setting set wrong. Any help with this would be great.
    iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2
    iPad (3rd gen.), iOS 8.1.2

Copy cannot be disabled to my knowledge. Did you try quitting Safari and resetting your iPad? To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • View PDFs on the iphone via Mail

So does anybody know why sometimes PDFs simply don't render on the iphone and you're left with a grey first page that's rendered? I don't appear to be able to establish a pattern for this behaviour.

I had the same problem with pdf and excel files, but it was only a couple of times. I think that when the file is big it takes more time to render, they way I fixed it, is that I open my gmail account from the safari browser instead of doing it directly from the iphone.
    I hope this help.

    Hi..
    Go to   /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the AdobePDF browser plugin to the Trash.
    Try Safari.
If you have problems locating the plugin...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go

If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Since I have Yosemite on my iMac I can't view PDF files in Safari anymore.  It keeps telling me to upgrade my Adobe Reader, but it is the latest version.  Please help?  I don't have this problem on my Macbook that does not have Yosemite installed.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

    Hi Tbeirne,
If you just want to save a pdf opened in Safari to your machine use the save as option from within the Reader plugin window. Just click on any of the buttons highlighted in below screenshots to Save a pdf at any location on your machine.
    or
To summarize the issue, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not the Safari File > PDF Export, or File > Save As...
Please let us know if this solution works for you and you are able to save and view PDFs files locally.
    Regards,
    Shashi
