Unable to view website from within network - OSX Server

I have recently set up a Mac mini server in my home. I have configured the DNS settings manually by creating a primary zone being my domain and then a machine record (A Record) in order to configure the right host name. I've checked this the usual way in terminal and it returns success.
Before I go ahead and configure my mail, I noticed that I was unable to view my website. From within my network on any device.
NB. My website is hosted externally with a third party.
I have Mac Mini running Mavericks 10.9.1 and Server 3.0.2, I'm using a 2TB Time Capsule as the router which plugs directly into my fibre modem. Ports are opened correctly as I have done this through the Server App panel where I can see my Time Capsule.
I've obtained the IP of the website and when I tried pinging it from terminal it cannot resolve. I've contacted Apple, and after 2 hours on the phone to them, I've been told it's out of the scope of their support.
If this is DNS, can someone help, because I'm pulling my hair out!

I have now figured this out!
After setting up the hostname in the Server app I auto created the DNS records.
I have removed them all, created a new zone, the zone being my domain name; I have then created a Machine (A) Record being my hostname; I have then created another ***BLANK*** Machine (A) Record being my domain, and hey presto, everything works perfectly.

  • T400s and T500 experiencing slow response time accessing certain websites from within our network

    Hello there.... we have some Lenovo T400s running Windows 7 and T500 running WinXP Pro that are experiencing slow response time when trying to access certain website from within our company network (particularly this global crossing Web meeting, google maps): https://core1.callinfo.com/interface/guest.jsp?host=globalcrossing ... it takes 10-15 minutes before it loads the meeting login screen and same response time for google maps to respond as well... the thing is, other Lenovo T400s, T61, and other HP desktop machines that are connected to the same network in our company does not experience this slow response time... HOWEVER, when these problematic T400s / T500 laptops are connected to external network (e.g. home DSL, hotel DSL/Cable modem) the problem goes away.   Our NETWORK ran tests to monitor traffic to the websites from our company's network but seem to connect just fine... just wondering if anybody out there experienced the same problem and know of a solution.  By the way, the two newer T400s that are experiencing the slow response time have the following BIOS version 1.11 (6HET26WW) and BIOS version 1.09 (6HET24WW).  Then a T400s that is also connected to the same network but not experiencing the problem has a BIOS version of 1.02 (6HET17WW - running WinXP Pro).   NOTE: We also connected a Linksys USB wireless adapter to connect to our wireless network in the company but same problem - and problem occurs even when connected via network cable.  Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • Unable to view PDFs from the Safari browser.

    I am using Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader 10.1.0, running on OS 10.6.8.  Until recently I had no problem but am now unable to view PDFs from websites.  What I get is a totally black document.  I can create PDF files which I can also open outside of the internet.  Any ideas?? 

    There seems to be an issue with Adobes plugin and Safari 5, your options are:
    Wait for it to be updated.
    Uninstall the plugin nd let Quicktime handle it.
    Install Schuberts PDF plugin from http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/

    I am not exactly sure what you mean by "authorised", but I am experiencing a similar problem...or the same, in that Apple TV keeps telling me to enable home sharing in my MacBook Pro. It does not seem to recognize that home sharing is already enabled on my Laptop.
    Is home sharing and "authorised" one in the same? It used to work just fine before these recent Apple TV updates.

    Is the issue with XML/PDF concurrent requests or with all requests?
    Can you find any errors in Apache/Database log files?
    Is the application listener up and running? Can you find any errors in the listener log file?
    Have you tried to run AutoConfig and bounce the services and see if this helps?

  • Unable to view files from windows share

    Hi guys,
    I am wondering if you can help me out. I have 10 mac ocnnected to a windows domain. Five machinies are OSX 10.5.8 and five are OSX 10.6.8. The problem I am having is I can connect to the windows share via smb but I am unable to view the files. I can connect the server and see the folder listings but I am unable to view the contents of each directory. The users permissions are fine as they can log into a windows PC an are able to access the files as needed. I have tried different user accounts and all are getting the same issue. Each account has admin rights as well. I was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue before?

    Also do I need to completely sync my ipad, if i click sync then after a while it says can't sync all the apps present on the ipad

    Are you trying to read them on Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) on a computer, on a dedicated eReader, or on a tablet or similar device?
    Have your got and AdobeID and registered/authorized/activated it with ADE?

  • Unable to open files from within Photoshop

    Hi, I've updated to CC 2014.2.1 and I'm continuing to get this message when I attempt to open a file from within Photoshop (it started when I installed a beta versionYosemite, so I switched back to Mavericks, but it didn't help, [so many updates with Cloud, I lose track..]).  I noticed someone else with a similar problem, but from 2013. Anyway, I get this message: 'Could not complete your request because of a program error.'  I restart Photoshop, then I can open a few files, but then the errors start over.
    Also, I'm not really familiar with the 'forum' means of support, but if anyone knows a solution to this beyond 'google it', which I've done, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks Jeffery Tranberry—this did the trick. BUT while an answer to my issue gave the following feedback to Adobe....
    Use of COVERFLOW if EXTREMELY IMPORTANT (in Photoshop) when working fast with hundreds of images. Who the heck labels every single image asset file—and knows what that is without a visual cue? WHEN IS THIS ON THE ROADMAP TO BE FIXED?????????? UGH! MAVERICKS has been coming for MONTHS. Why was this not vetted on Adobe's end as a valuable roadmap item for its users? I would have ranked this a high item from a user experience end and fought for inclusion on the developers roadmap. What is the ETA on a real fix concerning Mavericks & Coverflow use with Photoshop?

  • Unable to log in from different network same domain.

    Hi, I am having difficulties with sharepoint at a different location.
    Our main site and network that our sharepoint server is on, is 10.1.0.1
    Our second site is part of our domain, and has its own DC with the ip 10.2.1.1
    Our main site and second site are connected through VPN.
    Our users at our second site can't log into sharepoint. They will browse to
    http://intranet and the windows security window asks for credentials. Users will enter their credentials but it will not accept them and keeps asking for them. They do not receive any error messages, just a blank screen.
    I have also tried adjusting the "trusted sites" options with NO SUCCESS. As well as clearing the "Enable Integrated Windows Authentication" option under advance in internet options.

    So we have two domains, DomainA and DomainB.
    You have tested your DomainA user account, which works fine from Site A, on Site B and it fails. All users from Site B also fail to authenticate.
    Can you test a user from DomainB on a machine in Site A?
    Are you able to add users from Domain B to your SharePoint sites through the people picker? That will confirm that you have AD connectivity between your SharePoint farm and the Domain B ADDS servers.
    Next time you test the login process from Domain B use a hosts file to bypass any load balancers and target a single server, then make a note of the time. That will help you to try to identify the login requests in both the windows event logs and the
    SharePoint ULS logs.
    From first impressions this sounds like an inability to authenticate from their network rather than a domain trust issue, although that may still be possible.

  • Unable to view all folders within exlpo

    I have a Zen Sleek player and I have 4 main folders under the root directory. I am able to see and play everything just fine within the player but when I go to view the folders within windows explorer I only see of the 4 folders.
    I have performed the disk clean option which re-built my music library and rebooted my PC and it still is not working.
    It takes a long time to copy all the files over and create new playlists so before I end up re-formatting my player I am wondering if anyone can give me some help on fixing this.

    There's not much you can do unfortunately, a disk cleanup is about it, short of the format.
    Presumably you're using the MTP firmware?

  • Unable to access website from AT&T exclusively

    Hi,
    It appears that others may have had this problem. We can't access our website from AT&T provided internet. Reading other posts on this topic give the explaination that our site has been blacklisted or is suspected of some phising scheme. I don't understand how this is possible as we have only recently put up this website. Our website: www.radiantoc.org. Our host is 1&1. We have another website hosted by them, but it is accessible from AT&T routers.
    Our website is not on any blacklists acording to this: http://mxtoolbox.com/domain/radiantoc.org/.
    So why are we being blocked? 

      I just clicked your link and got to "God, You and the World" on the RG's DNS, so nothing's being blocked.  What does your outside IP address start with?  If 99. or 172. that could be the reason.

  • WAN IP inaccessible from within LAN (MacMini Server)

    Hi!
    I'm having a bit of a networking problem that's exhausted my (pretty basic) understanding of DNS and basic networking. It's the kind of thing that i imagine has a quick fix, just one that in my fairly limited experience i've not yet come across. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help.
    *Office setup:*
    Mac Mini server running OS X 10.6.4 (at 192.168.2.250)
    ~6 client iMacs, all running OS X 10.6.4
    DrayTek Vigor 2820 router connect to the web with a static IP (at 192.168.2.1)
    Problem:
    Our WAN IP address appears inaccessible from within the LAN.
    Normally this doesn't cause any problems but increasingly, as we start to make better use of features such as the iCal and Address Book servers, we are encountering stags.
    Take iCal for example. The client machines connect to iCal server via the internal server domain (macserver.private) - this works great. To access iCal server from outside the office (eg. on iPhone) we connect via a subdomain of our company domain ('ical.ourcompnay.com') which points to our office WAN IP. (The nameservers for 'ourcompany.com' are on our webserver, not in the office.) This also works great, until you bring the iPhone or laptop into the office, at which point the WAN IP, pointed to by 'ical.ourcompnay.com', is inaccessible.
    By inaccessible i mean that when you try to browse to the IP in Safari, a page simply never loads. And when you 'traceroute' it, you simply get no return.
    Aim:
    The aim is to be able to use the WAN IP inside the LAN exactly as we can from outside the office. Or to discover some workaround that delivers comparable behavior.
    *Other info:*
    The client machines' network preference are all set with DNS serves of both 192.168.2.250 (server) and 192.168.2.1 (router). For some reason (that i'm not able to explain) clients are unable to access the internet unless the router's IP is specified in addition to the server's, despite the server specifying the router as the 'forwarder address'.
    If there's any essential info that i've missed out then please let me know and i'll fill any gaps straight away.

    I thought that there may be something in the router configuration that would solve my problem but have so far had no success. The most useful looking thing I can find is called 'Static route'. Setting up a static route requires just 4 parameters: Destination IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway IP Address, Network Interface (ie. WAN or LAN).
    My understanding of this feature is that it is intended for facilitating networks with multiple routers so i'm not sure that it's going to help me. Unfortunately, as much as i Google i don't seem to be able to fully get my head around subnet masks so it's hard for me to know if a static route will ever be able to help me. Any thoughts?
    The alternative is to configure your own internal DNS server as being authoritative for ourcompany.com
    I initially thought that this would solve my problem too but i'm now not so sure. The client iMacs all had to be manually configured to use the server (192.168.2.250) as their DNS server. By default devices connected to the network inherit the router's DNS servers (external to the LAN). So surely even if the the server's DNS server was authoritative for 'ourcompany.com', this wouldn't actually get queried by 'temporary' network members (iPhones, laptops etc.)?

    I think so. In the DNS server settings (in Server Admin) 'localnets' is listed under 'Accept recursive queries from the following networks:'. 'localhost' is also listed.
    nslookup www.apple.com 8.8.8.8
    This works fine, both from the server and from clients.
    I too am a little worried that both server and router must be listed for the clients' DNS servers. I'm no expert (as you can tell!) but when setting up the network i wasn't particularly satisfied by this, it felt like a bit of bodge.

  • Migrating from Maildir to OSX server mail

    Hi,
    I have a Linux machine running Qmail (smtp, pop), Courier (imap) and Squirrelmail.
    About 20 users on the machine.
    Most users use webmail only.
    The users are all 'virtual' users, under vpopmail.
    This machine uses Maildir for mail storage.
    I want to move all mail to the new OSX server.
    The new server will be working the same way - webmail.
    I'm not sure where to start.

    I've successfully moved users off a similar setup (Debian Linux, Courier IMAP, SquirrelMail) to my new Xserve. I used imapsync-1.239

    I initially tried using the MacPorts install of the same version, but it constantly failed to authenticate with the Xserve. I have my Xserve setup for always using CRAM-MD5 auth. (Make sure you have all of the Perl MD5 modules install, including the optional ones, if you use MD5 auth). So, I downloaded it and compiled it directly. This eventually worked and with only a couple of bad emails, out of thousands, that did not transfer. It also will retain flags set on the previous server (seen, replied, etc.). I ran it from the Xserve and connected to the Linux box remotely.
    I have no experience with Qmail.
    If you use procmail on the Linux machine though, you will need to recreate those scripts as sieve scripts on the Mac. I found the SquirrelMail plugin for sieve scripts most helpful.

    What do you mean by "add on domain" ?
    Does it mean that this site is hosted inside of a folder at
    the other domain
    you have? So it has unique content
    Or is it that the new domain name points to the SAME folder
    as the other
    domain? They both contain exactly the same files?
    And- on the page, there are only links to other sites, links
    to the index
    page, and this link:
    http://ultim8search.com/Health%20Insurance.html
    which gives a 404 error using one domain, but works using the
    other domain
    name.
    IF this is two domains pointing at one set of files, I don't
    know what is
    happening.
    BUT- it would take one minute to go to the Dw files panel,
    rename Health
    Insurance.html to something without a blank space, okay dw to
    correct links,
    then upload the index.html page and the new renamed file and
    see it that
    solves the problem.
    I'm not sure what the purpose of that site is-

  • Unable to Open Project from a Networked computer

    Hi All
    We have just recently installed Robohelp V6 on a computer in
    the office and after making sure that RoboSource is connected and
    visible, I have come to my desktop machine and made sure that
    1. I could connect to the Robohelp "Server"
    2. that I could map to the drive that the project file
    resided
    3. that I could ping the "server" computer
    All appears to be fine, except that when I try to open the
    Project file from the "MAPPED" drive, I get the following error
    msg:
    "OPEN PROJECT WAS CANCELLED OR THE APPLICATION WAS UNABLE TO
    LOAD THE DATABASE FOR: T:\Content\Grail2Aug07Help.cpd"
    It is the Project file
    grail2aug07help.xpj that I am trying to open.
    The project WAS currently opened and in use my another person
    on the "server" computer, so I wonder if this is the reason for the
    message.??? If I cannot get the project opened. how do I then make
    sure that files that I want to alter are "Checked In/Out" by me and
    are also seen, by other users as being CHECKED OUT...??

    Your project should live on a local drive (e.g., the My
    Documents folder on your PC). Version control can live on a mapped
    (i.e., network) drive.
