Unable to watch ESPN live event online.

For the past month, ESPN access has been unavailable. It worked fine before. Now when I try to watch a live event online, I receive a "User not authorized error" message on the video screen. And I am logged into Verizon simultaneously when this occurs. Anyone know what is causing this problem?

Are you presented with a Verizon sign in page when you're trying to sign in using the web browser? The pages has the Verizon logo on it. Which web browser do you use? Are you using a subaccount to sign in or your main account?
I just checked and all is working fine with the WatchESPN web site for me.

You can't. Apple is not streaming today's event live; they haven't streamed any event live for at least a couple of years. For blog/twitter-style updates, try:

Unable to watch The Walking Dead online

Whenever I click on the video from the most recent website it asks me for my provider, I put Fios, I then get the following message:
We're sorry....
We are not able to process your request. To continue, please select
one of the following options:

Is the problem back?
Tried to login and it says:
Unfortunately it appears as if your user account is not authorized to view this content. This could be due to the following reasons:
- This channel is not included in your paid TV subscription.
- Your subscription is for Internet only.
- Parental control settings may be blocking this content.
For further information, please contact your TV provider.
I do have the channel and watched it online last week.

When will we see live events

So, now Apple TV gives us access to the biggest on-demand library of content (well, needs a few more movies) at the click of a remote control button. If NBC joins up, I effectively do not need, nor want, cable or satellite TV any longer to watch series.
But the the next step is obvious: pay-per-view on-demand live events. Everything from sports, concerts, news, whatever. Does anyone else share my view that this is less less than two years away? And that, if Apple offers this, they could indeed become a gargantuan global media distribution company?

unfortunately, I think that ATV will not be as successful as it could be because people will look at it the way you do. As a sort of computer/TiVo/iPod thingy.
I started to look at it as a portal for on-demand media of any sort. I can go into TV shows and can chose any episode from any TV show from any Network I want to watch right then and there and watch it right away. That's IPTV for me. Whether the technology behind it downloads the episode to to a hard disk is of no concern to me, except that this allows me to transfer that TV episode to my iPod.
IPTV as you describe it, i.e., sending regular linear TV programming via telephone cables, interesting, but really, is there a benefit to me, as a consumer? And on-demand from IPTV as you describe it is the same as what you get from ATV, only that yuo would call the downloading "buffering" and you dont get to transfer the file to iPod.
On-demand live is a weird construct, I agree. I meant that firstly, I can chose to watch any live event going on. I am not dependent on TV channels deciding whether they should show Formula 1, Wimbledon, NBA basketball or Chelsea vs Arsenal Cup game. It will all be available. Secondly, if, say, the Live 8 concert is on live, I will be able to chose whether I want to start from the beginning or into the live stream. And to do this, I dont have to mess around with a TiVo or anything. I just do it all with the little Apple Remote and it is all intuitive and does not require me to do any planning, recording, programming; because its all on the Apple Servers.
Think about the ATV like this, forget the idea that you "download" something, just pick what you want to watch and go for it, dont think about whats going on with the hard drive. I really am not sure what you then want from "IPTV" that you dont get from ATV (except the live events).
I would love to hear your views, because maybe I am just missing something?

Mid 2011 mbp i7 with a SSD has problems, including grey screen/blue screen/beeping/freezing when I stream live video (i.e. watch espn or time warner cable) Help? Ideas?

Recently my Macbook Pro (June 2011, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, AMD Radeon 6750, Mountain Lion - since July - currently 10.8.2) has been presenting me with an array of problems, usually initiated when I am streaming live video. I was streaming Time Warner Cable on 12/9 and it gave me what looked like the blue screen of death. It started up after about five attempts that time. The other day, after about a week of not using the computer, it wouldn't boot past the grey screen. I (option) started it and it gave me two boot choices, the regular HD and a "10.8 restore" option. The HD gave me the grey screen and the restore option gave me the dark blue screen. I reset PRAM and that didn't work. After a force (x) start it worked. Today, I was using "Watch ESPN" and the screen froze and the computer did some kind of repeating RAM beep or something. I rebooted and it started up fine. I'm not watching any videos anymore, but this is a problem since the primary purpose for my mbp is video editing. I'm still under AppleCare but I find more solid answers in the forums or at least better questions for the AppleCare people.
Anybody have similar experiences, or a solid idea of what the heck has happened to my machine?

I'm not really sure what method that person was talking about. I just read he had a successful install so I posted it.
But I'll hazard a guess
1. copy your entire drive to a backup drive
2. boot into that drive and test it out - make sure its a flawless backup, it works, and the hard drive has no problems
3. eject that drive, disconnect it and reboot into the leopard install dvd
4. erase your main hard drive using disc utilities on the leopard install dvd -- you've made a backup, made sure that backup was good, and disconnected it so it's currently safely disconnected from the leopard install you're about to do. Also, on the hard drive you're erasing and installing leopard on to, many people recommend "Zeroing" it as well as erasing it. That option is part of the erase function in disc utilities on the leopard install disc.
5. do a clean install of leopard
6. follow step 4 from that original post exactly as that person described to do.
7. read the rest of what they said
That's pretty much it. With the backup/erase/clean install/import/ you pretty much get everything you need exactly the way you want it with very few things missing -- and you've done this over a clean install. Plus that poster did mention that you can select what you want to import from your backup hard drive.
It sounds like its a "clean install" method that gives you control via "import from machine" option in the installer. Control over what parts of your "old mac" you want to import into your "new leopard mac".
Hopefully that helps. It sounds more involved, but its actually pretty quick and provides you with a perfectly save backup in case anything goes wrong with the leopard install.

WWDC 2013 was streamed live. I'm not sure if that was the first Apple event that was streamed live for iOS devices.
I started watching it on my Mac and later finished it on my iPhone.
I'm assuming this event will be live as well. In the past, tech websites would run a live blog of the event.

Unable to watch live streaming on nrl app

Have not being able to watch the live streaming on nrl app hasn't been working this whole season.. Will not load, have wifi and fast internet.. Continually being charge for a service that isn't working.

Thanks. Availability of live match videos is based on broadcaster times. This means that all Fox Sports matches are live and availability of Channel Nine matches is based on broadcaster times. Channel 9 games will be broadcast at the same time as the free to air signal in your territory and therefore may be delayed.
That means for QLD, the Broncos vs Knights is Live, with the Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles delayed and in NSW it is the reverse.

Watch ESPN iPhone App - Unable to play video

I am trying out the new Watch ESPN app on iPhone and when clicking on Watch Now I get an error message stating "Access to this content requires a television subscription. Please contact your TV proider to subscribe". Is there a seperate subscription required to watch on the ESPN app?

I will throw out a few points until ComcastJoe gets into the office on Monday.
Your home network must be using Comcast DNS settings, typically these days, 75.75.75.75 for primary and 75.75.76.76 for secondary. The Adobe authenticaion doesn't seem to work on other DNS providers.
When you installed the app, the app would ask for your TV provider and then your primary Comcast logon and password. This is the part that tells the app you are a ESPN subscriber on Comcast. Once the authentication is setup, then authentication for the app is transparent.
If the above is all in place, then it could boil down to a code issue on your account that ComcastJoe can get fixed next business week.

Watch ESPN - User not authorized error

I'm a U-200 subscriber, I get all of the ESPN channels on u-verse. I recently moved to Kansas City from Chicago, and since the move I haven't been able to access Watch ESPN online. I've tried from my laptop, phone and two different tablets. I just get the User Not Authorized error. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't have time to spend an hour on hold waiting for tech support.

I'm a U-200 subscriber, I get all of the ESPN channels on u-verse, and also BTN, NBCSN, etc.. I recently upgraded from Internet U-verse only to U-200 and Internet, switching from DirecTV. Unfortunately, when I try to use TV network apps on my iPhone and iPad (like ABC, Watch ESPN, NBC Sports Live Extra, Fox, BTN2Go, etc), after selecting ATT U-verse as my participating TV provider and entering my U-verse credentials, I just get the User Not Authorized error from every single app. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't have time to spend an hour on hold waiting for tech support, and I am about to switch back to another provider after only three days with U-verse. Examples of errors: NBC Sports Live Extra: "We're Sorry it looks like you're not a subscriber to this channel. Please contact you're provider."ABC: "Error code:400-1. Unfortunately, you cannot access this content. Please contact your TV provider for further assistance."BTN2Go: "User is not authroized to this content."Watch ESPN: "Unable to play video. You are not authorized to play this content. Please contact your provider." Can someone please help??? Talked with two techs who have basically thrown up their hands saying they cannot help. Update on 6/9: So I sent a PM to ATTU-verseCare and quickly got a response from SadathCS. He called me and noticed that when I upgraded from Internet Only Uverse, the database they use to authenticate TV subs on these apps was not properly synched after my upgrade to the TV/Internet account bundle. Watch espn no sound

When using watch ESPN through my Apple TV there is no sound. How can I fix this?????

I had this same issue. I never had issues with sound on Watch ESPN until just recently, and it really only occurred while watching sports events. Sportscenter worked fine. I just went into the Apple TV general settings a performed a restart, and it is now working.

Found out last night that i couldnt watch a live stream confetence because i couldnt download the flash player. why does apple not allow to do that and is there an alternative way other than flash player?

In the future, there won't be any Flash. Adobe, who makes it, has cancelled future versions for mobile devices like the iPad:

You should check if there is another way to get the live stream. For example, I sometimes watch online classes on a site that uses Flash for the video. But they also provide a non-Flash video stream that can be watched in an iPhone or iPad web browser, and an iOS app that you can also use to watch the stream.
