Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I though there was an option in iMovie to make sure the titles were in the TV Safe area but I can't find it. One way to do ti is the following:
Masking Movies to the TV Safe Area for iDVD
The mask should be 640 x 480 pixels and the movie 544 x 408. You can set this size after you’ve joined it with the mask movie with Quicktime Player Pro.
Import the black mask jpg file into iMovie and and export it as a .mov file at the same length as your movie (there may be a way to not have to create a specific length mask for each movie but I haven't found it. If the times do not match the movie file will be synced to the length of the mask movie).
Open the mask movie in QT Player Pro and then open your regular movie and make it the front window of the two. Now you'll need to run a QT Player AppleScript titled "Merge Movie 1 into Movie 2". You can get it from this Apple site: Quicktime Player Scripts.
Then run the script. You can then run the merged movie to check it out. Your movie will be located in the upper lefthand corner of the window when played.
When you open the Movie Properties window from the Window menu for the combined file you’ll see the following:
Video Track 1: the black mask
Video Track 2 : your movie file
Tween track: Have no idea what this is.
Sound track: self explanaotry
Black mask.
To set the size of your movie to the correct size select it in the Properties window and click on Visual Settings pane. Then enter 514 in the first field and hit enter. With the Preserve Aspect Ration box checked the other size will automatically be set.
To center the video track in the center of the mask select the Video Track 2 item and plug in a offset of about: 60 & 40. You'll probably have to play with that to fine tune the centering. Doing the math and subtracting the movie dimensions from the mask dimensions and dividing by two just didn't get it perfectly centered. I'm sure I'm missing something here.
Now save as a new self contained movie after checking the High Quality box at the bottom right.
You can now import the movie file into iDVD for preview and burning. One drawback is that you can't invoke the TV save area for a movie in iDVD to check it out. But you can mark it on the monitor screen while viewing a menu or slideshow and then play the movie to see how close you came.
MacWorld describes the same method here: http://www.macworld.com/2006/02/secrets/marchmac911/index1.php

  • Unable to obtain full screen when burning DVD

I have a trial version of Adobe Premiere Elements
    8. When burning dvd and then playing on my tv through dvd player I am not getting a full screen. The wide screen video covers about 3/4 of the screen instead of the entire screen. The settings I am using are NTSC widescreen dolbyDVD, and Quality is checked with no changes in quality. The preview screen is set  on a magnificatgion fit. The Video is centered on the preview screen. I have spent hours trying to resolve this problem? I have a trial version and not sure if want to purchase with this problem.
I tried to upload the 8.01 up grade and my computer just blinks on and off; will not load?

I have been having the same problems.  See my discussion threads on aspect ratios in the past few days.
Let me share my thoughts on this.  Apparently Elements 8 is optimized to work on 4:3 CRT TV's; HD flat screen TV's must not have made much penetration in India yet.  So when you set the output for NTSC widescreen, what Elements does is compress the widescreen data into a 4:3 frame, squeezing the image horizontally.  Counterintuitively, what you have to do is select NTSC normal.  Then Elements does not further squeeze the widescreen data.  What it then does is fit it into a 16:9 letterbox, still containing the left and right bars, within the 4:3 frame.  Set the DVD to playback in widescreen mode, which expands the letterbox image to full width of the TV, though retaining the left and right bars, then zoom the TV image to full the screen, to eliminate all the bars top, bottom and sides.  Worked for me, but I used a SD camcorder set to record in widescreen.
A better option might be to change the default pixel aspect ratio, which I am yet unable to effectuate.

So what the likely cause was the Rotation Lock was on, when you restart the phone it goes back to off.
BB doesn't really "support" them, but you can easily sideload an android app on the blackberry yes. In the new 10.2.1 OS, which isn't released yet, they have changed some stuff around and you can load the apk files directly on the blackberry. However, now you will need to sideload the apps, just google search "sideload android apps on blackberry" and a number of articles will come up about it.

  • Unable to exit full screen mode from any app

    Hi,
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion today and I noticed something wrong. In Lion I used to be able to exit full screen mode from any app by pressing esc or clicking the exit full screen mode button on the top right corner of the screen. Now neither of those seem to work, in fact the menu bar doesn't even come up when I get the cursor to the top of the screen. Tried this on many apps, some system apps, always the same. The only way I found that works is pressing fn + ctrl + F2 (or ctrl + F2 depending on the function keys setting).
I checked the console and found this message appears whenever I go into full screen
WindowServer[79]: CGXRegisterWindowWithSystemStatusBar: window 10 already registered
    Anyone having the same issue?
    Any solutions found?
    MacBook Pro 5,1
Processor  2,8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8 (12A269)

    Thanks for replying so fast.
I tried a couple more times and now the esc key method seems to be working, maybe it the cursor focus had something to do with it not working earlier.
But I still can't get the menu bar to drop down when I get to the top of the screen.
Did a PRAM reset, but no cigar.
Do you mean reinstalling over the current installation or installing fresh and recovering from a time machine backup?
In any case I think I'll wait a little bit more before I do any of that, it really bothers me to have to reinstall the whole system to fix something as insignificant as this. It's still a little annoying though.

  • I have recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0. I am now unable to use full screen mode when watching you tube. i've never had this problem before.

i can't think of anything else to add. i've always been able to use full screen mode in firefox, it still works on vimeo and it still works on NEtflix..

What happens when you try to use full screen mode -- button is ineffective, video doesn't display, etc.?
By the way, Adobe has issued a couple of security updates recently, so you might want to update your Flash plugin.

  • Unable to view full page , only in full screen i am able to view it

unable to view full screen , getting only 1/2 or 1/4 view of the page . but able to see full in full screen

    What is the error?
The DNS cache could be stuck.
In the Terminal try:dig www.macupdate.comIt should reply that it is 70.86.154.194.
If that doesn't work, you DNS is not working and pointing you to the wrong place.
You can try clearing the DNS cache with dscacheutil -flushcacheAlmost forgot to mention: there are several threads on similar problems.

  • Unable to view movies in full screen

I am unable to watch movies in full screen mode. When I try and select it, I am simply taken back to the itunes window, but the movie audio continues. I can watch the movie at any other size. What's going on?

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Unable to playback project in full screen

unable to playback imovie project in full screen.  Full screen button and commandG both do not work.

If no one on this forum is able to step up, please repost on the iMovie forum. When you do it would be helpful to whoever is assisting to let them know the version of OS X installed on your machine and the version of iMovie being used. Without those basics people are simply guessing.

  • Unable to put youtube in full screen under nightly

Hello, when I open a youtube screen under nightly I am unable to put any video in full screen. The full-screen icon does not work. Youtube works just fine (videos get in full screen mode) under IE or under Tor-browser but not under Nightly. I reinstalled my nightly, removed all the plugins but to no result and videos from other sites work juste fine in full screen.
Could you helps me? Thank you.

The Nightly version is intended for alpha- software testers, not for the general public. Since Nightly is updated daily, that could be a transitory problem which might be corrected tomorrow, or that could be something that will take awhile to fix.
You might want to check the Builds threads over here to see if any other Nightly users have that same issue, and might have some suggestions.

  • I am unable to zoom in or zoom out unless in full screen mode. I have tried with both my scroll mouse and with CRTL - and +

I am unable to zoom in or zoom out unless in full screen mode. I have tried using my scroll mouse and also using CTRL - or +. This is only in Firefox. it works in IE.

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    browser.gesture.pinch.in -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReduce</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out -> <b>cmd_fullZoomEnlarge</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift -> <b>cmd_fullZoomReset</b>
    browser.gesture.pinch.latched -> <b>false</b>
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • Unable to set safari in full-screen mode

    Hi folks,
I just factory reset my 15-inch MBP running 10.9.3. After doing so, I notice that I am unable to set Safari in full-screen mode. Any ideas??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Please help me exit "full screen mode." I am unable to see the Safari menu bar.

I have never used this tool. Please help me to "exit the full screen mode." I am unable to see the toolbar in Safari.

THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING. Is there a way to adjust settings in Safari, like my homepage? So far I am not pleased with the IPad. Wish I had looked at other tablets before buying. the main thing I don't like is Safari. I welcome any positive comments. Thanks.
Safari doesn't include a Home page, but does allow for a multitude of book marks. In addition, there numerous other browsers available in the apps store. Some of them will allow for setting Home page if it is that important to you (personally, I don't miss it).
The bookmarks bar can be be hidden from the setting app. There is no real tool bar in Safari.
You might want to take a look through the User Guide and learn a little more about how the iPad works, if you haven't already.

  • Unable to view project in full screen mode.

I'm working on three different imovie projects, and they are all in my project library. For two of the three projects I have no problems viewing them on the full screen mode, but the one that I'm currently working on won't play full screen when selected, it plays a different project. I called Icare support, and they said the problem wasn't in the program, but rather in the project. They suggested that I post my question here on the Apple Message Board to see if they are any suggestions, otherwise, I'll have to rebuild the project...I've spent two weeks working on it...ouch!

Think of Full Screen Mode like a browser that let's you watch a movie. If you stop before it ends, it remembers your place and lets you take up where you left off the next time you come back.
Move your cursor down toward the bottom middle of the full screen view. You will see a cover flow view, and you can select the project you want to view.

  • Unable to watch purchased movies full screen

    Using:
    Mac Mini G4 1.25Ghz 1GB RAM
Gateway FPD2185W 21" LCD HD Monitor (connected via VGA)
1680x1050@60Hz resolution (native resolution of monitor)
    iTunes 7.0.2 (15)
    Quicktime 7.1.3 (PRO)
The last 2 video purchases I have made from the iTunes store will not work using the fullscreen display preference in iTunes. The videos bought were "Taking The Wheel", and "Death Race 2000". When I try to play them full-screen, all I get is a black screen. I can hear the audio playing just fine, and I can see the mouse pointer, but no video shows, and the on-screen controls do not appear. The videos work fine in window mode, unless I try to enlarge the window. If I try to do that, the video either goes all black, or goes all white.
I already contacted support, and all they did was gave me a video credit to try and re-download "Taking The Wheel" (I bought Death Race 2000 several days later). Re-downloading the video did not solve the problem, which leads me to believe that it is either a problem with how the video is encoded, or a problem with a recent iTunes or Quicktime update.
    Mac Mini 1.25Ghz 1GB   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1GB RAM

Follow-up, if I open the videos with Quicktime directly, they play fine in full-screen, they still don't work set to full-screen in iTunes though.
