    JFYI
Discoverer is installed on the same server as EBS 12i.
Last week we had issues when EBS promoted us to change the passwords of apps, SYSADMIN, APPLSYSPUB and even that of EUL4_US in the system. I am wondering which of these changes could have had an impact on Discoverer. How do I get ebs to recognize the new password of EUL4_US?
    Thanks

    Hi Mathias
Let me answer at least a couple of your issues:
+3) I have installed Oracle Discoverer Administrator on an XP manchine but at startup, it doesn't display the "Applications checkbox". Did I miss this during installation and can I simply reinstall?+
EUL5_US connects find at this window and I am greeted with the Load Wizard Step 1. Does it mean that to connect as sysadmin, I have to reinstall this BI Discoverer?
You have to enable Discoverer Admin in APPS mode, it does not do it automatically. To do that follow this workflow:
    1. Connect to Discoverer Admin as EUL5_US
    2. On the Load Wizard Step 1 click the Cancel button
    3. From the menu bar select Tools | Options and navigate to the Connection tab
    4. Check the button labeled Connect to both standard and application EULs
    5. In the box labeled Gateway User enter: applsyspub/pub
    6. In the box labeled Foundation Name enter: apps
    7. Click the OK button
    8. From the menu bar select File | Connect
    9. This time you should see the Oracle Applications User check box.
On the XP machine you need to also have the DBC file and tnsnames files. Here's how to enable the DBC security:
    1. Create a folder under c:\Oracle called Secure so that you could have: c:\oracle\secure
    2. Place your DBC file in this folder
    3. Launch Control Panel
    4. Select System | Advanced System Settings - this opens the System Properties box
    5. Click the Environment Variables button - this opens the Environment Variables box
    6. In the bottom half of the screen, labeled System variables click the New button - this opens the New System Variable box
    7. In Variable Name enter: FND_SECURE
    8. In Variable Value enter: c:\oracle\secure
    9. Click the OK button to close the New Variable box
    10. Click the OK button to close the Environment Variables box
    11. Click the OK button to close the System Properties box
    12. Close Control Panel
This should get Discoverer Admin working. Can you check and let me know?
As far as I know there are no additional passwords. If Discoverer Admin can be made to work using SYSADMIN then there is a setup issue on the server. Most likely the FND_SECURE is not picking up the location for the DBC but let's tackle that once we get Admin working.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Discoverer plus login problem

    hai,
i getting error while login to discoverer plus 10.1.2.0.2
    is " Error
Unable to open a new browser window. Ensure that you do not have popup windows disabled for this site."
if i worked with discoverer viewer, it working fine
where is the problem, please let me know it.

It appears Java pop-up window could not be opened, You could try
    1. You can uncheck the 'Turn on Pop-up Blocker' under Privacy tab in IE
    2. Turn off the Google/Yahoo pop-up blocker if you have these plug-ins
    3. Also, ensure you can download ActiveX Control signed and unsigned with prompting enabled
    4. After entering the user/name password, press Control Key down then click the login button

  • How to hide discoverer connection page after opening discoverer plus?

    Hi,
I invoke the following url in browser window 1 to open Oracle DIscoverer Plus.
I notice the browser window 1 will open a window (say i call it browser window 2) to display the Oracle Discoverer Plus application.
Once the Oracle Discoverer Plus java applet is fully loaded, the browser window 1 will show the Connect to Discoverer Plus page.
I wonder if we can configure not to show this page as my users might confuse to see a few existing connections listed there and in fact if possible, I don't want user to see the list of connections.
Anyway to get rid of the page?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

I am trying to use URL parameters to keep Discoverer Plus from launching a new window after login. I notice that what works in Discoverer Viewer does not work in Discoverer Plus.
The following works with Discoverer Viewer :
    <iframe src="https://cohort50.spinsys.com:8251/discoverer/viewer?framedisplaystyle=embedded"
    width="100%" height=100%></iframe>
After Viewer login the next page displays in the same window, just as I want it to.
Discoverer Plus behaves differently. If I try this with Discoverer Plus a new window is launched after successful login. I also tried adding the pluspopup=false parameter to the URL, but the problem remains.
Neither of the following two fragments prevent a new window from launching after successful login to Discoverer Plus :
    <iframe src="https://cohort50.spinsys.com:8251/discoverer/plus?framedisplaystyle=embedded"
    width="100%" height=100%></iframe>
    <iframe src="https://cohort50.spinsys.com:8251/discoverer/plus?framedisplaystyle=embedded&_plus_popup=false"
    width="100%" height=100%></iframe>
Does anybody have any advice for me? What must I do?

  • Discoverer plus Problem

    Hai Friends...
    I installed oracle 9ias 1.0.2.2 on 8.1.6 database.
I am unable to run the discovere plus.
    I got the following error.
Unable to connect to the discoverer has detected a conflict
    loading java class
    oracle/discover/corba/_st_DCILocator.
    I wouid appreciate any help.
    Cheers

    Gopi:
When you completed the 9iAS installation, did you register the
    Discoverer Collector, Preferences, and Session?
On a Windows NT / 2K environment, you can do this by launching:
Programs -> Oracle Discoverer Server 4i Setup -> Register
    Preferences.
Do this for each as listed above. The lack of a session object
may be the source of your viewer problem as well.

  • Auto login and report launch for Web Discoverer Plus?

What url format can I use to auto connect and launch a report in
the web version of Discoverer Plus?
I've been able to do this fine with Viewer and client/server
    Plus...
Each time I try something it brings me back to the "start_ie.htm"

I found the answer to my own question:
To login in "applicatino mode" you must login like this:
    <app_user_name>:responsibility
    OR
    <app_user_name>:
Then you'll be prompted to choose a pre-assigned responsibilty.

    Hi,
This happens due to the configuration of the browser and the java installed.
First make sure the configuration in the browser are set correctly, pop up blocker disabled, lan setting do not prevent access to the discoverer server and son on...
Try to remove any java version he has on the computer and install a fresh new JRE.
    Now try again.

But at the time of logging in i'm unable to connect the database as i do not have the user-id password and the connect string. I would appreciate if you can help me out in doing the same and also plz send me some steps to log in and get connected to the database and how to start working on Oracle Discoverer

    Hi,
You can try putting double quotes round the username, e.g. "DISC USER" but I think this may be a bug in Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10g. You would have to check with support.

  • Discoverer Plus Auto Login

No SSO , No eBusiness Suite
10.1.2.0.2 Disco . Any way of reliably signing in without entering a userid and password - passing a cookie from another application etc etc ?

    Hi Chris,
You can bypass entering the username and password by using a HTML Post in the calling application to send the URL to the Application Server. An example of a simple form to post the password from a submit button is:
    <FORM ACTION="http://disco01:7777/discoverer/plus" METHOD="POST">
    Enter password :
    <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="password">
    <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="database" VALUE="TESTDB">

  • Error on connecting to discoverer plus

I'm triying to connect to Discoverer Plus or Viewer. When I get to the login screen, fill all the required fields, but I got the following message: "The application encountered an invalid state.
    - - Nested exception: org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: vmcid: SUN minor code: 201 completed: No
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again."
can you please help me out so solve this prob.
the discoverer plus version is 10.1.2.48.18

Currently there is not enough information to realy de-bug the issue. I would look at the URL and verify that the URL with the connections page is the same as after entering the connection information. The URL can change if there is a Load Balancer or Proxy server involved.
Run the Discoverer script below to verify the Discoverer server is up and working.
    $MidOH/discoverer/util > . ./checkdiscoverer.sh
Next look in the Discoverer application.log for additional information about the error. It is located at:
    $MidOH/j2ee/oc4j_bi_forms/application_deployments/discoverer/oc4j_bi_forms_default_island_1
    If these messages do
You are running an older release of 10g. The latest production release of 10g is 10.1.2.3 with Cumulative Patch 6 applied. See Note 237607.1 - ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions. This Note is kept up to date.

  • Error connecting in Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10.1.2

I'm triying to connect to Discoverer Plus or Viewer. When I get to the login screen, fill all the required fields, but I got the following message: "The application encountered an invalid state.
    - - Nested exception: org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: vmcid: SUN minor code: 201 completed: No
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.
When I run the checkdiscoverer. It works ok in all the checks except for: "Error: Failed to bind to Discoverer Server.
Hint: Try increasing the timeout by changing the timeout value in opmn.xml.". As the hint said I increased the start timeout, I got it up to 3500 and even incresed the minprocs to see if that helped. Nothing worked.
I'm testing this in a Windows XP Pro SP2 installed 1GB Ram. I Installed the BI Tools, App server but no infrastructure. The Installation process finished without any problems, except for a warning regarding not being able to determine the IP address. I can access all the options of the app server.

    Hi Christian
In your connection to the database are you using a DNS named server or are you using an actual IP address?
By this I mean, when you launch Discoverer, do you do it this way:
    http://servername.domain.com:7777/discoverer/plus
    or this way:
    http://ipaddress:7777/discoverer/plus
If you are using the former, can you go to the server itself and run Discoverer ok? If you can then it is a case that your local machine cannot work out what the IP address is. Let's say, for arguements sake, that you server is http://myserver.mydomain.com and that the IP is 192.168.1.100
You could try editing your HOSTS file and inserting a line in there to associate the IP with the domain. To do this, follow this workflow:
    1. Right click on Windows Start button and from pop upmenu select Explore
    2. Navigate to the folder called Windows/system32/drivers/etc
    3. Locate the file called HOSTS
    4. Edit this file with Notepad
    5. Insert a line like this:
    myserver.mydomain.com 192.168.1.100
6 Save the HOSTS file and exit Explorer
This associates the IP with the server name.
    Does this help
    Regards
    Michael
