  • 3rd Party Apps won't uninstall or display correctly in App Manager

I've found that my Razr, like most devices, needs housecleaned every so often to perform at peak.
I regularly (monthly-ish, or whenever the device seems bogged-down) clear the cache partition, and houseclean the App caches.  Some of them get very cumbersome, and it does seem to help app performance.
I've noticed that sometimes some apps, randomly (not consistent cuprits, though it seems to be whatever I use most often or whatever moves a lot of data around) don't update in the app manager, and when they're like that, you can't uninstall or do anything with them, even though they run fine.  Fine, but like molasses in January.
For this, I'm having trouble with Megapolois and Words With Friends.
Going to the App Manager -> 'All' and going to either app yields all the fields populated by "Computing..."   and it just stays that way.
I've tried to unistall the app from there, thinking something was just hung-up, and the "Uninstalling.." screen comes up...and the bar moves, and it does nothing.  Forever.  Same when I try to uninstall from the App Store.  App Store -> My Apps -> [App] -> Uninstall.  Circle spins, it says its uninstalling, but 90 minutes later, there we sit.
In both cases, I can't back-out of the action.  I can go back to the home screen, but I can't get back to "Manage Apps" or the Play store as appropriate without it going right to that stalled operation in progress.  I have to reboot the phone.
I've tried in Safe Mode with the same result.
There must be a way to nuke/reset these apps from the recovery menus somewhere.  How?
I also have a bunch of apps, Maps for instanance, where I can't clear the cache.  Push the "Clear Cache" button, it lights up blue...and the cache doesn't clear.
    Suggestions?

You May Have to Run a Factory Reset are you running the Latest OS 4.1.2 if not I'd run the F.R. followed a System Cache Clear then Update to 4.1.2. if you haven't..

  • App won't uninstall

I uninstalled the app Coupons.com, but when I go to updates in the app store, it tells me that the app is "installing" how can I permanently remove this app?

    Hey improvtrick,
First, I would try resetting the device:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
via: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and then restore it, but take care and make sure you back up first:

  • I have the new iMac and an app won't uninstall...

I have cpu led installed and I went to update it since the mac app store told me I could update it. I clicked update, it downloaded and said it needed to close cpu led because it was running and it would apply the update. There was a button on that window that said close, so I clicked it. It went away and cpu led at the top would not close and the window kept re appearing. I try to right click or left click or option click or whatever on the cpu led thing on the top bar and nothing pops down to close. comand+option+esc shows no cpu led to close. The cpu led app in launch pad shows a see-through dashed box that says paused. Clicking does nothing, dragging to the trash does nothing, option so the x comes up like to delete it pops up a window that asks if I want to delete it, I say yes and nothing happens... HELP!?!? Please.
    ~Chad

Launch Activity Monitor in Utilities, select cpu led in the window and then click on the red button, top left, to force the app to quit. Then try again to do the update.

  • Applications tab doesn't work - apps won't sync

I'm starting to go a bit bonkers. It's been a while since I updated iTunes, and the Applications tab still doesn't work right. Is it just me? I can't click on anything/manipulate anything in that part of iTunes. And when I download new apps through the app store and tell my iPhone to sync, it doesn't sync the apps, even though "Sync Applications" under the Applications tab is checked.
I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it. I've restored my iPhone. I've done both things a few times and you know what? Sometimes that makes it work. But if so, it only works one time. I can use the Applications window to check which apps I want synced and move things around onto different screens. But then if I click on another tab/navigate away from that window, it stops working. And I have to restore my iPhone again just to sync my apps.
Any suggestions? Help? Is it just me that's having this problem? Thanks...
    iTunes version: 9.0.2 (25)
    iPhone software version: 3.1.2

Wouldn't I lose all my paid apps if I go under a different account?
Still not working... only when I restore my iPhone to factory settings and reupload everything do I get my new and updated apps and have a working Applications tab. Then, if I quit iTunes and open it again later, I can't manipulate/change anything under the Applications tab, and my apps won't sync with the rest of the stuff on my iPhone. So maybe the solution is to leave iTunes open and my computer on FOREVER.
I'm seriously getting ticked that this isn't working right. Anyone else have this problem? Or just scuttlebutt and me?

  • I keep receiving this error every time I open LR, "Lightroom encountered and error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit" and the app won't open. It said LR would try and fix this error next time I opened it but the error remains. I tried

I keep receiving this error every time I open LR, "Lightroom encountered and error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit" and the app won't open. It said LR would try and fix this error next time I opened it but the error remains. I tried uninstalled and installing the app and the error remains. I have windows 8. Can anyone please help???

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. The normal location is Pictures\Lightroom. Locate a folder with the extension .lrdata and delete that folder. Then you should be able to start Lightroom again, and Lightroom will begin building and new previews folder. Do not delete anything else.

  • My dad has a brand new iMac. If he quits an app, this window closes, but the app won't finish shutting down, Force quitting does not work.  Once another app is opened, it will not close either.  Now none of the apps are responding. Any ideas?

My dad has a brand new iMac. If he quits an app, this window closes, but the app won't finish shutting down, Force quitting does not work.  Once another app is opened, it will not close either.  Now none of the apps on the dock are responding. I asked him to click on the apple, and drop down to "About this Mac", but that wouldn't open either. Any ideas?  If I was at his house, I would call Apple Care in a heartbeat, but am home with my sick daughter,,,  Thanks!

For starters, have him open Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, select the volume (the indented listing) and Verify Disk. If it reports any problems, have him try a Safe Boot by holding the Shift key at startup. This boot will take much longer than usual. It's checking and trying to repair the drive directory, if possible. Once in Safe Boot, have him repair Permissions.
For other Disk repair remedies see
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
Also, have him try a PRAM Reset. At the startup chime, hold down CMD-Option-P-R together, listen for two more chimes, total three, then let go to finish booting.
Also, is he running any AV? If so, have him uninstall it. It might be responsible for this behavior. (There are no viruses for OS X.)

In the middle of downloading an update for garage band and lost the connection, now the app won't open or finish the download.  Can I reinstall the app without losing my music?

The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.

  • Windows 10 Apps won't launch

It seems like none of my Win10 Apps want to launch and load up. I hit the icon for the app and it appears to start but it closes itself around 1s after launching. Xbox, Mail and others won't start. They were working fine until I changed some settings in
the Mail and it went bad from there.
I know there was a Command I could use in shell to manually uninstall/install each app but I can't seem to find it.
    Anyone have a solution?
P.S Launching from the Taskbar or the Start Menu  doesn't work, and the Store (Beta) doesn't launch either.

We know this one will be a bit painful but there is a bug with this build in which Win32 (desktop) apps wonʼt launch from the Start menu. The workaround is to use search to find and launch these apps and pin them to your taskbar for quick access.
You should reread the OP. xHDx is asking about Modern apps, the issue you
posted about, as is clearly stated, is referring to old style Win32 apps
and not the Modern ones. Your post isn't helping here.

  • IPhone 3rd party apps won't launch anymore!

After updating the iPhone software to 3.1, a host of 3rd-party apps won't launch anymore (appear for 1 second, then revert back to the apps icons page).
I've tried upgrading to iTunes 9, uninstalling then reinstalling ALL apps on the iPhone via iTunes, hard rebooting my iPhone, restarting my iMac, etc etc, but nothing works.
On a iPhone 3Gs page on the Forums, I saw many others having similar difficulties and blaming it on the XX upgrade. One solution proposed there was to download a free app from the App Store and install it. Tried that, and it didn't work for me.
I hope Apple will give this attention, because it's basically disabled my iPhone's business-sensitive functionalities (like 1Password) on the eve of a 2week business trip ... and on business trips, I don't have my iMac with me! >:-(
In case it helps the OS is showing as 3.1 (7C144) on my device.

    Hi!
I may have a solution to your problem. I updated to Firmware 3.1 today and couldn´t open any application i downloaded. I seems the updated version of iTunes handles apps a little different from before. When you connect your iPhone and it pops up in iTunes, right click on it to enter your configuration area (for the iPhone). At the top bar you have a row of options like music, pictures, podcast and somewhere in the middle you have the option "Programs". Click on that and you will see a list of all the programs you have downloaded in iTunes. Unfortunatly you have to recheck all the boxes at the left side of the program you want to be synched to your iPhone. Check these boxes and click "Apply" at the bottom right and iTunes will now transfer them to your iPhone. Easy breasy when you know how to do.
    Best of luck, Cheers!

  • PSE 6 program and apps won't open.

PSE 6 program won't open from the start menu or Windows Explorer and the editor and organizer apps won't open from Windows Explorer. All the files are listed in WE and not empty. This happened recently after I have used the program a few years. Do I need to reinstall the program? If so, will the catalog have to be recreated? There are more than 7000 photos in the catalog. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

Try opening Orgnaizer and Editor from there respective exe's and from welcome screen which are at-
    Organizer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 6 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe
    Editor: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
Welcome screen: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6\Adobe Photoshop Elements 6
PS: Both paths are for 64 bit OS. For 32 bit OS use: C:\Program Files
If that doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling PSE again. Your catalog will not be affected by uninstall/re-intall process.

  • My Creative Cloud App won't launch

My Creative Cloud App won't launch I'm seeing other posts of the same problem that are unanswered. Is there an issue with cloud today?

I'm having a similar problem. CC is greyed out and has no content when selected, meaning I have no access to my type kit font library. I've uninstalled CC and reinstalled CC. I've followed another course of action which is to trash the opm.db file (username > Library > Application Support > Adobe > OOBE > opm.db) which was advised from another forum, followed by a reinstall again. No joy... any help would be much appreciated
