Unassigned node in BW Hierarchies

We have multiple profit center hierarchies and one of them (say PC1) deliberately excludes a lot of profit centers (it includes only 20% of the total profit centers). In the report, the user is given an option to choose any one of the hierarchies. If the user chooses PC1, then the report shows a big chunk of data appearing under "unassigned node" as one would expect. One can go to the filter value to remove this "unassigned node", but is there any setting that prevents this "unassigned node" to show up in the first place?
The R/3 reports that uses this profit center wouldn't show anything like "unassigned node", it just shows the nodes that are in PC1. BW reports should be at least as flexible as R/3 reports right?! Could someone please comment? Thanks.

Hi,
Have you defined any connversion routine in the maintenance screen of that Info object ?
If you have not taken any CR , take 'AlPHA' as the conversion routine fot this Object. And then upload the hierarchy.

The characteristics are 0COSTCENTER and ZDEPT. The Hierarchy structure should be
-Test Hierarchy
--Cost center 1
---Dept1
---Dept2
---Dept3
--Cost center 2
---Dept4
---Dept5
---Dept6
--Cost center 3
---Dept7
---Dept8
---Dept9
Etc.
We have transaction data where a certain Cost center doesn't have the department and when displaying the hierarchy there would be some unassigned nodes for the BW report.
What would happen if the following hierarchy is in place and I am trying to do authorizations for the 0COSTCENTER and ZDEPT:
-Test Hierarchy
--Cost center 1
---Dept1
---Dept2
---Dept3
--Cost center 2
---Dept4
---Dept5
---Dept6
--Cost center 3
Where cost center 3 has no department for it?

BALANCE SHEET WITH UNASSIGNED NODES

First of all hello everybody,
In spite of being involved with balance sheet and P&L query I´m facing a problem never had before. We´re using the virtual infocube 0FIGL_V10 and its own query provided by Business Content.
Up to yesterday everything worked fine and showed up balance sheet and its nodes properly according to report in ECC. FI consultants decided to make changes in Balance Structure and turned on both credit and debit indicators in a couple of nodes. From then on relationed accounts did not appear within balance sheet but below unassigned nodes, obviously it should work properly once updated data by means of signs and so on. I removed content and reload 0GLACCEXT (its hierarchy), 0GL_ACCOUNT and infocube 0FIGL_C10 and kept failing.
Even i checked if function module supported by 0FIGL_V10 was modified and not at all.
Does anyone know what´s wrong? Is a problem of ECC customizing (don´t think so but...)? Am i missing any step?
Any suggestion would be appreciated...

Simon you were right. By checking up 0BAL_DEPEND I found out that someone had disabled certain mapped fields in transfer rules...one of them was PLUMI -> 0BAL_DEPEND.
I found an article about an balance sheet sample with this field but i didn´t pay attention to.
I shall activate transfer rules and so on from BC again and hope solving it.

Unassigned nodes in the Stock report

Dear Gurus,
 We designed a "Stock Overview Report -Vendor wise".Now,we got 2 issues.The report output is as follows:
Vendor Batchno. MaterialNo. 0quantityTotalStock
 ABC HA123 MAT001 -20
 HB124 MAT002 -10
Unassigned HC120 MAT003 40
 RESULT 10.
Checked in MB5B,for each material and the values(-ve stock and Unassigned stock)eg..(-10+40=30),values are right.
Issue1
 Why do i get these Negative Values for stock against Vendor,whereas there's no Negative values against Unassgned??
 Issue2
 Client(SAP Consultant aswell)! doesnt want the "Unassigned"node and goes on to say that the report is wrong ,if Unassigned gets displayed!!
Am really stuck up with this for more than 2weeks,still unable to move ahead.Any Light on this would be really appreciative.

I have created a new process chain in the development and it is falling under the Unassigned nodes. I want to move that process chain to an another node. but i am unable to do that
Can anyone let me know how to move the process chain from unassigned node. I have drag and dropped but still the same in BW 3.5 ?

Hello,
Try this....
Double click on your process chain. Via the menu select:
Process chain > Attributes > Display components
Select F4 (possible entries)
At the bottom of the window you will find a create icon
to make your own component.
After you created it, assign it to your process chain.
Don't forget to save the process chain.

Show suppressed unassigned nodes in Hierachy

Dear all,
is there a way to show unassigned nodes of a hierarchy although the hierarchy attributes are set to hide them?
If not, is there a way to suppress unassigned nodes in a query if the attribute is not set for a hierarchy?

If the hierarchy attribute is set, not to display unassigned nodes then you would not be able to see them in the report.
If it is not set , then there are multiple ways of handling it.
- One is using authoirzations.
- Second is in the query local filter you can exclude it.(this can be viewed if required).
- Third is in the query global filter.If you exclude it in the global filter then you would not be able to see it in the report.

Unassigned nodes in Modeling

I have just installed a couple of queries from BC. The objects were assigned to the "Unassigned Nodes" tree. Why does that happen?
I don't have a CRM tree yet, so I don't know where they should be assigned. Does anybody know how I can determine which tree they should be assigned to?

Queries sit on an InfoProvider. Each InfoProvider sits in turn on an InfoArea.
If you have just activated business content and the InfoArea was not activated, the InfoProvider would go sit under unassigned nodes.
If it is an InfoCube, check in table RSDCUBE for the InfoArea.

How to make a node of a Hierarchical Tree BOLD

When we click the node of a Hierarchical Tree, we want to make the node BOLD. We tried using set item property but it's not working.

There aren't really any built-ins that will allow you to change the Font Weight of the Tree Node Label. You might be able to accomplish this with Java, but you would have to write your own Java Bean to implement. It might be easier to simply add an Asterisk (*) to the label programatically using the Set-Tree-Node-Property() built-in, but this presents problems with removing the asterisk when you leave the selected node or select a new node. It can be resolved, but you'll have to record all the information you'll need to reset the node - namly just the Node_ID.

Hi ,
Goto RSD1 ->info object catalog -> enter catalog name -> edit -> insert your info objects under "characteristic" folder.

What is your exact use-case/flow for your use-case?
As the underlying data model/structure for the HierarchyViewer is exactly the same as the treetable, adding & deleting of nodes to the HierarchyViewer is exactly same as how we do for tree table.

I have a requirement where I have two hierarchical tables and one table should work as node for other table . How to achieve this??
To elaborate more the structure is like
Main Table (Company Structure)
Sub table Consolidation Groups which has got hierarchical structure
Sub table Entity which is also hierarchical.
The Entity table should act as a node for table Consolidation Groups
How can I achieve this functionality??

you misunderstood me apparently. I said you can't organinze to tables so one serves as a node's value of the other. Let me show you wnat I suggested by an example.
First table has such values:
-A
|-B
|-C
and the second one is
-x
|-y
|-z
-p
|-r
|-s
I thought you wanted to confine relationships between them so fo B node be able to select only x's branch and for C - only p's branch. If it's similar to the truth then let's create another table with two fields. Field one points to table containing capital letters and field two - lower case letters. Both fields are of type lookup pointing to an hierachial tables. Now when you populate this table you'll create records like (I list two columns):
B - y
B - z
C - r
C - s
from your orinal table from now you should point to the above table. So instead of having two fields each pointing to its own table and compeling you to think how to organize two hierarchies, now you have only one field pointing to a table with all valid combinations. When you populate this table though YOU have to decide what such combinations are. It may make sense (if you have different users) to restrict access to this table on read-only level for regular users to preserve the valid combinations.

How to go to a particular node in a hierarchical tree?

I want to do this simple thing with a Forms hierarchical tree.
Since tree has lots of levels and branches I want to give a search box.
User types the label and press a button. The form then has to query the tree node and expand ONLY the path where the node is (if found) and highlight it. If a node with a label is NOT found I give an error message to the user.
I got hold of a code segment to explode a tree and modified it, but it does not work. The entire tree is expanded and you don't know where you are.
Any help will be greatly appreciated?

How to find out if a NODE has any CHILD NODES in a hierarchical tree?

I want to find out programmatically if a node in a tree has CHILDREN.
My requirement is this: I want to only show nodes for which the user has permission to execute the program that node is associated with.
Problem is, my tree population query will not show the child nodes, BUT the sub-menu nodes are displayed and I need to get rid of these nodes.
There is a function to find out the PARENT of a tree node (FTree.Get_Tree_Node_Parent), but noting to find out if children exist for a node or not?
What I thought of was to display the tree and then traverse it from the ROOT onwards and then if a NODE is a submenu node (I can find this out by checking the PROGRAM value. If this is NULL it is a sub-menu node) and IF IT HAS NO CHILD NODES then I can delete the node.

Please provide the examples with DATA

Finding the "last node" in a hierarchical query?

I'm presented with an issue - find all parent records for which the "last node" in a hierarchy is not set to some value.
Table structure:
child_id number
parent_id number
type_id number
So, I need to find all parents whose eventual last "children" (could be several levels deep, it varies) do not have a type_id of 29.
I can find the hierarchy easily using connect by prior but I'm stuck on that "last node" bit. Any help out there?

Hierarchical Tree Node Attributes

Hi,
I know that Oracle' official answer to this is no, but is there a way to specify attributes for specific nodes in a hierarchical tree? I would like to display specific nodes in bold and specific nodes in a different color.
Any idea welcomed.

If this were possible then you would have to use the FTree package and probably the FTree.Set_Tree_Node_Property procedure, so check those in the help system. But I'm 99.99% sure you'd be wasting your time.
You might be able to do it with a JTree in a bean (it looks like it's not possible to extend an htree item in a pjc) but in forms the best you can do is assign icons to the nodes.
