Unauthorized update + all my past accounts, folders emails gone

Just opened my computer up this morning and mail says, "we have some new feature, let me show you". I go to mail and all my work accounts are gone? Only Mobile me there. I did not click on any update and I always review updates before I do them so how has this happened?
AT the moment, I am unable to do my work b/c I can not figure out where all my in process e-mails are.

not insulted at all.I can hardly believe it myself.Yeah initially I checked in user/library/mail on the system drive,both my accounts were litterally gone.So I went into Time machine and it seemed to freeze,got out of that and went into the time machine disk itself and in all those user/library/mail,both accounts missing.Here's the stranger bit.I remade my accounts in Mail,and after they were added and made active all my old mail messages were suddenly in the inbox BUT when I click on one of those messages I get a blank email..no text.. just the subject only .This was the same for both accounts.So .it leaves me wondering where those headers are stored as the full messages are now gone.and how the accounts got deleted where before installing the graphics update and the ilife update I think it was,all my mail was just fine.thanks

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated permit_mynetworks check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access reject_non_fqdn_hostname reject_invalid_hostname permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions. You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up. Private/policy I think relates to grey listing. Maybe gives you a hint.

After Leopard Grahpics update-All my Mail accounts are gone

Oh man,did the software update as offered.Now,Mail launches,only has some .mac account on it(didn't before,Both my main mail boxes have dissapeared!,They are not in my Library/mail folder and even worse Time machine doesnt seem to have them either!!. Any ideas? Anyone seen this before.thanks

Just turned on iPad to check mail, all mail (read, unread, folders everything) gone - help

As the title says just switched on my previously working iPad to check mail (Imap and two pop accounts) the two pop accounts work perfectly. I can send and receive email from this point forward but I have lost all my folders, unread, read, archived and draft emails. Can anyone help? What I have done is check the settings and they are all fine, I have sent from and received mail to this account but all other mail is now vanished.

New update all my tool bar options are gone and I can't get them back.

Reimaged computer...now all Playlist Folders are GONE!

I had to reimage my computer recently and I reinstalled iTunes and all my songs. But when I imported all my songs they all went into the music folder and all of my playlist folders are gone.
Do I need to recreate all the playlist folders and resort every song??? Or is there an easier way of doing this???

Update from Snow Leopad to Maverick cause email removal from all my IMAP accounts

Hello, i am using mac Mail.app to manage emails for several accounts. Some using POP some using IMAP. Have been working with same settings for more than 2 years in same system. Last week i got a new macbook pro with maverick on, used migration to transfer files & settings. Everything seemed to worked like a charm, until today that i figured out , all my IMAP accounts have Zero inbox on my machine! My machine is already synced with cloud, that means all emails have been deleted from cloud as well. Nothing left in trash or in any folder.
All these years i had copies of my emails in Cloud, somehow something has been really wrong.
Unfortunately i had no backpack, Filevault was disabled and had just bought my new air capsule but havent configured it yet .

What i managed to do so far is to use a software called iSkySoft data recovery. Havent managed to recover yet because it requires registration. Does apple has any solution for

Found it finally.
They show up when you select any email account. Select Account Information tab, then use pull down under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).
That pull down also has Edit SMTP server list, where you can remove the un-used SMTP's.

Why do i have to click emails in, all mail, important, inbox, folders?

In my thunderbird account I have inbox, important, all mail, and several folders I have created. Why do I have to click on the same email in all folders? If I look at it in my inbox it should clear as read in all categories, but thunderbird makes me click on each folder and then find each email to stop it from showing as un-read.

I had looked at and thought to do that in the past, but the gmail tab is grey'ed and as such I didn't think I could do that. Your comments made me think it was possible and I needed to find the way and clicked on it. Then out pops the folders under gmail and click, click, click... and no more folders.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Claudius,either you didn't read my post, or you jumped to conclusions. I had a skype account that was created using a microsoft account (NOT THE ACCOUNT I AM USING NOW). PURE MICROSOFT ACCOUNT NO OTHER ACCOUNT LINKING.I had to change the primary mail of that account.I was told "no can do" by skype support.I found that if I went to account settings and clicked on the link on the line below the one that said "MICROSOFT etc" (labeled something along the lines of "TV or Device") I got the opportunity to set the password of the "live:username" account (WHICH YOU COINCIDENTALLY HAVE TO DO IF YOU WANT TO USE SMART TVs ETC).Once that was done, I COULD SUCCESSFULLY DO WHAT SKYPE SUPPORT SAID WAS IMPOSSIBLE- I could change the primary mail address. once that was done, and NOT BEFORE, I linked the account to a facebook account as well, just to be sure I have more than one way to access the skype account. There is no p/w related to it and even though I tried to reset "password" it won't allow as the id does not exist, neither does the email associated with the old id. It's all rather odd because the old account cannot 'no longer exist' - if you don't have the correct password you won't be able to get into it, but you can't actually delete an iCloud account from the server.
I'm afraid you will need the services of iCloud Support. If you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

The following Knowledge Base article explains and offers up some troubleshooting recommendations for issues with email acounts showing offline on Mac Mail:

Lightning bolt icons next to mailboxes in the Mail sidebar identify accounts that are offline.
To take an account online, click the lightning bolt icon. Or choose Mailbox > Online Status > Take [account name] Online, or Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online.
If you can’t take an account online, make sure you’re connected to the Internet. If a warning icon appears after the account name, click it for more information.
Use Connection Doctor
Some mailbox names can appear dimmed if you don’t have permission to access them, such as “public” mailboxes on a server, or if the mail server is unavailable.

Apps are DRM protected and tied to the account used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another iTunes account nor updated using another iTunes account. Only the account used to obtain them can be used to update them. You can contact iTunes support, explain the situation & ask that they add these apps to the download queue of your new account:
