UNAVAILABLE CALLS DRIVING ME INSANE

Why does the anonymous call block not include calls that show as UNAVAILABLE????  I have recieved 5 calls from UNAVAILABLE in the last 3 hours.  The first 3 I did not pick up.  The last 2 I did, with nobody on the other end, just silence and then disconnect.  Undoubtedly a telemarketer of some sort.  It would seem I am powerless to do anything about this.  *69 doesn't work, and I don't really feel like paying 9 bucks a month for call intercept.  Blocking UNAVAILABLE should be INCLUDED in anonymous call block, or at the very least given as an option.  VERIZON, PLEASE FIX THIS!

  • How can I fix this ridiculous error code 13014? It's driving me insane!

    Ok, so I have seen a lot of people write about this error code and I feel like I have tried pretty much everything to stop it from happening but nothing works! Every couple of minutes or so when my 120gb iPod classic is plugged in the error message 13014 pops up, the constant bouncing of iTunes in the docking station is driving me insane. All the music syncs onto it fine though. I have my iPod on manually add music as I am using a different computer that doesn't have all the music from my iPod on it. I don't want to risk losing all the music on there, so I'm hoping restoring my iPod is not the only solution to this! Please help me before I murder iTunes. Thanks.

    Try removing their iTunes preferences file, which is located in the /username/Library/Preferences/ folder and is called "com.apple.iTunes.plist" ( rename or move it somewhere else)
    reboot the Mac
    then relaunching iTunes (it will create a new plist)
    Connect the iPod Classic directly to the Mac.

  • Can't connect using AEBS - driving me insane

    hi, hopefully someone out there can help!!
    i am trying to connect 2 computers to my AEBS. one is a mac mini and wired, the other is an ibook and wireless.
    both of them connect perfectly when i connect them with wires directly into the modem. however when i try and route the connection through the AEBS neither the wired or wireless connection works. this is despite the ibook telling me that it's connected to the internet via airport.
    i've called my ISP and talked to them, they gave me all the relevant settings but it hasn't made any difference. the problem seems to be in the AEBS itself.
    any thoughts? it's driving me insane...

    Hello thecornishman. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Since your Macs are not able to access the Internet either wirelessly or by wire with the AEBSn, try the following, in order, checking for Internet access after each step, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
    o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
    o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

    Let's first define what "new" means. Was it purchased from Apple or your authorized carrier, and it came in a shrink wrapped box? Or is it only new to you, and you don't know its history?
    Assuming it truly is a new, never used phone, Error 9 means that the USB connection to the phone is intermittent. Do the following:
    Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (10.4) - if not, download and install it from htp://www.apple.com/itunes
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall software
    Disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse
    Connect the cable to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub; do not connect the other end to the phone yet (If your computer is a desktop or tower and has ports on both front and back us a port on the back)
    Launch iTunes
    Connect the phone to the other end of the cable
    If the phone is recognized in iTunes proceed with the Restore
    If the phone is NOT recognized by iTunes:
    Disconnect the cable from the phone (leave connected to the computer)
    Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen goes blank, then IMMEDIATELY release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button
    Connect the cable to the phone while holding the HOME button
    Wait for iTunes to recognize the phone, then release the HOME button (this may take several minutes of holding)
    If you still have a problem after these steps take the phone to Apple for exchange.

  • Undead keychain driving me insane!

    Hey everybody.
    So, I'm on a Macbook 2,1 running 10.6.8 and for months now there's been a problem driving me insane.
    I've got a dual-band Airport Extreme station (one network is 2.4GHz b/g and the other is 5GHz n-only) and they're running on different SSIDs.
    Obviously I connect to the 5GHz one and bliss is to be had. The problem, however, is that the other one is in my keychain and is at the top of the priority list and I just cannot delete it.
    Whenever I delete it, it just pops back from nowhere after a while. (Sometimes immediately, sometimes within hours and sometimes after several days)
    I've checked several times to see if I've actually deleted it and whenever I check, it's nowhere to be found. Still I periodically find myself with really slow LAN transfer speeds and invariably when I check my Airport status, I'm connected to the slow network.
    Oh, and before anybody says anything: Keychain sync is (and has always been) disabled.

    Hi Payne, not sure if I can help you with this. Have you tried opening keychain access from the utilities folder? If not do so and open Preferences - First Aid and check 'set login keychain as default'. Your password should be the same as your login password if you need to authorise. I presume you are using Tiger if not you need to post more detail of OS etc.,

  • Album Picks are Driving Me Insane

    Because I haven't upgraded from 3.2.4 or asked others for a workaround, I thought I post here before giving feedback.
    I'm not sure when the application engineers decided that if stacked images are added to an album the stack pick should automatically become an album pick that must be manually removed even after choosing a new stack pick, but it wasn't always this way. Of that I'm sure.
    This is driving me insane because I can't find a way to change the default, and I can't remove the album pick from multiple stacks simultaneously. 
    After I do the work to choose stack picks, I don't need the album to display a different image as the pick. In my workflow, this is a severe hinderance that costs me time and causes me to run the risk of overlooking acceptable images that I've already chosen to display as the pick.  If I need to use the album pick feature, I can make that decision without any help from the application.  The main thing that's kept me with Aperture is that I hate LR's DAM- especially the stack feature.
    Please tell me that this has been addressed in 3.4.  If this is the case, I might just find the time to update my huge library.

    I am still trying to wrap my head around this.  I think we may be seeing different behavior.  When I create a new Album from a selection in a Project that includes Stacks, the Album Pick is set, but it is always the same as the Stack Pick.  Yes?  This, to me, is what I would expect.  (From a computational point-of-view, there is no difference between designating the Stack Pick as the Album Pick, or not designating it, when the rule is that if there is no Album Pick designated, use the Stack Pick.)

    Why?  The Album pick is a separate, Album-specific designation.  The Album pick is set to the Stack Pick when the Album is created, and remains so until you change one or the other.  You can change either in the Album.  I don't see why changing the Stack Pick in the Album should remove or replace the Album Pick.  If it's the Album Pick you want to change or remove, change it or remove it.  If you want to change the Stack Pick, you can do this either in the Project or in the Album.  But again, the Album Pick and the Stack Pick are independent once the Album is created.

    Agreed.  There should be a way to "reset" Album Picks to the current Stack Picks.
    I spent a good three hours going through and clearing album picks- that I didn't choose to create- one at a time, and I'm still coming across some that I missed.
    How did you remove them? 
    Here is one method:
    - Set the filter to "Stack picks only".  With an Album selected, this will show Album Picks where they exist.
    - Select the first Image with with an Album Pick badge showing, and click "Stacks➞Remove Album Pick".  Go to next Stack ("Stacks➞Next Stack" or whatever keyboard shortcut you have assigned).  At this point, you can either check for the Album Pick badge, and then remove the Album Pick, or you can click "Stacks" and see whether the menu choice is "Remove Album Pick" or "Set Album Pick".  Repeat for each Stack until you get to the last Stack in the Album.
    If you want to make the current Stack Picks the Album Picks, you can do this by creating a new Album from the Project.  Mark all Images in the Album (I use Flags), select the Project, select the marked Images, and create a new Album.  New Albums created from Projects set the Album Pick to be the Stack Pick.  Now you have two Albums containing the same Images.  One has all the old Album Picks.  In the other, the left-most Image in each Stack is both the Stack Pick and the Album Pick.  The result is that you have redesignated the Album Picks to be the Stack Picks.

    Yes.  I was trying to differentiate between issuing commands (from a menu or the toolbar or a keyboard shortcut) and effecting a result by moving Images.  Afaik, Album-Pick-making must be done by command.  Stack-Pick-making can be done by moving an Image to the left-most position in a Stack.
    I'm still thinking through your workflow.  That this presents a rock in your stream means something isn't right.

  • Will there be a future way to set up your imessage/SMS to provide an auto reply when you are unavailable like driving in your car?

    As we all get more and more used to sending texts instead of picking up the phone and calling someone, I find that people try and reach me when I am driving and I have no good way to tell them I'm in the car or unavailable and not just ignoring them.    It seems that most other phone providers have thought of this and allow a number of unavailable messages to be created.   Apple did this for phone calls coming in but why not iMessage/SMS?
    WIth the big push on not texting and driving you would think that there is a solution by now...can some please let me know that this is in the list of enhancements at least or has someone found an app to do this today?

  • Mac Mini Crashes Constantly; Driving Me Insane

    My father bought me a mac mini on the 12 June 2013 to replace an old PC I had. The old PC I had was fine, absolutely no bugs, no crashes, and ran strong for the two years I had it. Best computer I ever had, but the dad wanted the whole house to be a Mac house.
    However this Mac Mini is the biggest disappointment ever.
    It crashes like it's a new trend. It happens at absolute random times and there is no telling when it'll happen. There are no signs and heck, I'm afraid it may freeze and lock up now while I'm typing this. When this crash happens, the entire screen is covered with horizontal pink and whatever colored bars scattered all over the screen, and if my speakers are on, it makes a weird popping sound. I took it to be repaired twice and it's acting like nothing changed. In fact, it's crashing more than it ever did. Three times last night, and today, twice within a span of two hours. I am a digital artist so I need the computer to draw up images for customers, but with all these crashes my progress has been a lot slower than it needs to be. And before anyone questions, this computer crashed before I even uploaded my Wacom Intuos 4 hard drive onto the computer and also crashed before I even decided to put Photoshop on it (I was going to college so I didn't have time for much drawing when I first got the computer). My dad and I even took notes on what programs were opened so we could maybe see if a certain running program was causing these crashes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many programs. I’ve emptied my trash, my downloads folder, so many other things, but still it crashes. Once there were no programs opened and it still froze. When it crashes the only way I can do anything is to manually restart the computer. I even unplugged and replugged the screen but nope.
    As I said, I took this to the genius bar for repairs twice, and they pretty much gutted this entire thing and replaced almost all the parts since it’s still under warranty. The first time I took it there they had it for a week, and it crashed on them there when it got out of sleep mode. However, even replacing so many parts this thing still feels like keeling over whenever it feels like it. The first time this computer ever crashed I tried to play a game called League of Legends, and at first I thought that since it’s a Mac it can’t handle games very well, so I deleted it from the computer. Ever since then, the computer has crashed. I can’t figure out if the game I downloaded (from the actual game website, and this game is as popular as World of Warcraft) somehow released a weird virus or this computer is just a bad egg. We tried to be patient with this, but it’s driving both of us insane.
    I was told by one of the guys at the genius bar that it was too late for my computer to be replaced, but what else can I do? These little squares are expensive, and it feels like we just bought the worst one of the bunch and now we’re stuck with it.
    Oh an a tiny update this crashed while typing this. THIRD TIME TONIGHT. So glad I was typing this on Notes. New record: crash within an hour of the last one. Good thing I have an external hard drive (we even changed hard drives for this computer since we thought it could have been that. Even replaced the HDMI cable from the computer to the monitor but nothing, it still does what the picture shows). Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do to fix this? And if you need more pictures for proof, I have a dozen of them.

    If I was going through all this with my mini I would escalate to Customer Service and tell them the whole story...it is all documented with trips to the Genius Bar.....

  • Mac Mini Server VPN Issues - Driving me insane

    Software  OS X 10.8.2 (12C2034)
    Server Version 2.2(166)
    Previous Issues experiencing: Before i rang apple support and spoke with enterprise support i had no luck at all for weeks getting the VPN connected.
    After calling support it seemed to have something to do with my useraccount - Guided through the process of creating new dummy account and trying to connect then. Which sssucceeded..!!!
    However. Back on my main account and deleting other user accounts im facing great difficulty setting up a VPN for the purpose of a VPN.
    The issue now is: Once i get connected to my mac successfully from my iPhone using the VPN server all is good to go.
    However. WHen i restart my computer (For testing purposes this was done) When the MacOS boots up again I have to relog into the Server app. Resign into the program, THen try and reconnect my VPN (WHich will be impossible to do if im out of the country). But it doesnt end there. I keep having to reisue a new Shared Password. FOr testing i Used 1234abcd. Got a good connection - Proceeded with restart and then had to change 12345abcd.
    So i have tested this well over 50 times. Trying to find a solution.
    In summary: Everytime i use the MAC Mini Server, I have to.
    1 Auto login.
    2 Repopen the Server.app even though i have enabled it to autostart.
    3. Log into the server app (Not another networks Server)
    4 Change my shared password
    5 Try and reconnect and pray it works.
    Whats the quick fix for this. Its driving me insain and honestly making this a 1000$ peice of junk. Its hopeless regarding a server. I want it to be completely operational when i leave the country. My server is designed to Shut on and off between down times (Night Times) when i wake up i jsut want to be able to reconnect via a VPN and no issues, be on my way with life. Not having to wory about remote logging into the PC to then reset up the server.
    Any help please!

    I sometimes get this same message window or a VPN Not Authorized window after rebooting my server. I have the Mac Mini late-2012 base model running OS X Server. When I do, I just try reconnecting and after no more than 3 attempts a connection is made either by my rMBP or my iPhone5.
    I leave my server running 24/7 and I rarely get either of the two messages mentioned above.
    You shouldn't need to open the Server.app unless you need to manage services. The Server services you configured should start everytime you restart. I have the Server.app icon on my Dock, but I do not launch it automatically. I manually click to launch it when I need to manage the Server, Accounts or Services.

    PLEASE how do I stop them without having to go to my provider and changing my number??

    Have you signed up for the TPS, The Telephone Preference service. If so when they ring up ask them to take your number off there calling list. If they keep calling fill in the complaints form on the TPS site.
    It might help to reduce these calls.
    Failing that a good mouthful down the phone when they next ring usually does the trick

  • Please help!! G4 problems slowly driving me insane..

    Hi!
    I'm having a bit of a nightmare with trying to install Panther on my mac... any help would be MUCH appreciated...i just dont know what else i can do!!
    This is my system:
    G4 "Digital Audio" mac, with sonnet encore Duet dual 1.8ghz cpu upgrade (was originally dual 533mhz)
    1.25g ram
    80gig hard drive (partitioned into 1@50g and 1@30g) - to run OS + programs only
    +120gig to store files.
    radeon 7000 video card
    NEC dvd burner
    Here's the story:
    Basically, i own a Digidesign 001 Protools audio interface, but Digidesign decided that the 001 is not compatible with Tiger - 10.3.7 is the last "supported" version of OSX for the card.
    So last year i had the mac running dual boot OS - Tiger on one partition, and Panther on the other. Since then, i have upgraded the processors (see above) and had to replace the main hard drive.
    Problem is, i can now no longer boot from any panther/jaguar install discs, thus cannot install them on my system. (and cannot use protools)
    When i try and boot from any of these discs (either by holding down "c" when booting, using the option key to select where to boot from during startup, or selecting startup disc as being OSX install cd from Startup Disc in system preferences, one of two things happens - either i get the grey screen with the "no entry" sign, or the apple startup logo shifts up and to the right slightly and some random pixels appear to the right of the logo, then nothing more happens.
    The problem does not appear to be the DVD drive, as i can still boot from and install Tiger from both CD and DVD with no problems.
    So here's what i've tried to rectify the problem:
    -Using different Panther/Jaguar discs (ones that came with the machine(jaguar) and many different panther discs borrowed from friends.)
    -Various different ways of forcing the machine to boot from disc.
    -Disconnecting all peripherals (studio display, second hard drive, 2 out of 3 ram chips) leaving just one Hd, the keyboard/mouse & old crt monitor attached (as ive heard there have been issues with studio displays and booting)
    -Using the computer in target disc mode and attempting to install os from another compu
    -Detaching both hard drives and trying to boot from disc
    -Inserting the hard drive into another G4 compu, installing Panther (no booting problems, and runs fine on this g4-so not a hard drive issue) and then putting the drive back into my mac
    -another method involving manually installing the os by copying certain install package contents onto blank partition (cant remember the exact method... but it looked like it had installed but still wouldnt boot.)
    -zapping pram on various occasions
    -shouting loudly at the machine
    All of this acheived nothing - i am still left with a computer that refuses to see anything but Tiger (even after formatting the drive many times) and a ProTools box which cost me quite a bit a few years ago, that cannot run on the program it was designed for.
    This is actually driving me a bit insane... ive trawled the internet for months and found noone with similar problems... and i dont know what else i can possibly do!
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated...

    I wonder whether the problem is related to the Sonnet CPU upgrade. According to their website it's supported by Mac OS X 10.3.5 and higher. It may be that Apple added support for the 7447 G4 variants used in the CPU upgrade in 10.3.5, and earlier versions of Panther simply won't recognise the processors.
    If this is the case, I'm not sure what to suggest other than to reinstall the original CPU card, reinstall the OS and upgrade it to 10.3.5 or later via the web and then reinstall the CPU upgrade. Alternatively you could try and get hold of some Panther discs that you knew were 10.3.5 or later.
    With Protools and the CPU upgrade, it seems you may be limited to 10.3.5, 10.3.6 or 10.3.7
    Did you try updating Panther to 10.3.7 with the hard drive in the other machine before swapping it back?

  • Apple ID is driving me insane!

    I didn't know whether to put this under iCloud or iTunes, but the basic problem I'm having is with Apple ID.  It's constantly telling me that my password is invalid, and I have to reset it every day, or several times per day.
    It was fine when I just had my iMac to deal with, but then I added an iPod Touch, which I think is when the problem started. 
    I hate being harassed with Apple ID constantly asking for my password in the first place. I thought the idea was "set and forget"... as it should be.
    Well, sometimes my signin worked on the iMac, but not on my iPod. Then my iMac wouldn't accept my password.
    Now, it's even worse, since I've added an IPad and MacBook Air to my collection.
    Isn't the general idea that I can use one Apple ID/password combo for all of them???
    I can't live with changing my password once or twice a day and having to remember it when I move from one device to another.
    I'm still using the same old email address... [email protected] for all of them, so that's not an issue.
    Even getting into Apple Discussions, I had to move from my iMac, which wouldn't accept the password I set yesterday to my MacBook, which does!!!
    What is this insanity all about???

    Here is what fixed it for us:
    After troubleshooting the issue we determined that my wife's MobileMe account was being disabled every time she tried to buy something from iTunes, or update her apps on her iPhone. So her account may have been legitimately disabled the first time by hacking attempt or someone using the wrong ID, but every time after that was because we didn't know to do the following in iTunes. First, re-enable the account and set a new password (this is the most frustrating part, because over the last month we have churned through a LOT of passwords). Then from iTunes go to Store\Sign Out. If you have an iPhone go to Settings\Store\Sign Out. Now sign back into both places with your new password. After doing this her account no longer locks when she tries to buy something from iTunes or update her apps on her phone. For some reason the "10 attempts before disable" rule does not apply with iTunes even though it is the same account as MobileMe. iTunes would disable the account immediately upon trying to make a purchase. It would be nice if iTunes gave you a chance to type the new password when it found a mismatch rather than disable the account immediately.
    For the record; many e-mails, IMs, and a call to Apple support were completely useless, every time the account was disabled we were told that was because someone tried an incorrect password 10 times. Thanks to everyone who posts their findings out here, we wouldn't have figured this out without your help. I hope what worked for us will work for you.

  • T410 palmrest creaking driving me insane

    Hi all,
    Is anyone else experiencing this creaking issue on the left side of the Thinkpad T410 palmrest? Every time I type something and I set my palm on the palmrest it makes this creaking sound that is driving me bonkers. Any ideas what's causing it and how to fix it?

    YES. Bought mine just three weeks ago and were also suffering of the creaking sound. I was very disappointed about this low quality.
    But at the other hand I like the notebook. Good performance, nice keyboard, not really heavy, however the display is so-so. Finally I decided to keep it.
    I was in the shop where I bought this laptop and found the other ones without creaking sound. Maybe I got a one; in Germany we called it: “Montagsgerät”.
    Anyhow I had to make a decision: Either I send the laptop to Lenovo service or do it yourself. Hardware maintenance manual and even videos you can find on Lenovo site. I know opening the laptop is touching warranty.
    But in the German thinkpad forum I have read so many dreadful things about the superior Lenovo service and their skilful service stuff I thought it over.
    Anyhow, I repaired a lot of notebooks of my friends even without any manual.
    I did it!
    Opening was not a big deal. Removing screws is simple. Removing the keyboard was easy as well. But the assembly of the palmrest of the T410 is pretty tricky. Not that easy as the older thinkpads. That’s why it isn’t a CRU anymore!
    I was sweating a bit. You just need some more force as usual. Don’t be scared The material is amazing flexible.
    But I hadn’t to remove the palmrest completely. I lifted just the front edge of the palmrest and put some thin rubber tape between palmrest and lower plastic frame. The sound came from rasping plastic onto plastic.
    Now, I have no creaking sound anymore. Very relaxing …
    That’s my story. I know it isn’t anybodies case. If you are hesitating to do it by yourself send it definitely to Lenovo. It is a quality lack!!!
