Unaware of passcode

I do not know where to find my 6 digit passcode from my macbook air to use for net migration

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Upgrading ipad model A1458 ios 8. needs to restart but do not know my passcode

    Hey barryhogg,
That definitely sounds frustrating! I understand that you are prompted for a passcode on your iPad. If you have forgotten this passcode or are unaware of what it may be, you can use the steps in the following resource to reset it:

  • How can I setup a mail-specific passcode/restriction on iPad used by multiple family members?

How can I setup a mail-specific passcode/restriction on iPad used by multiple family members?
Have an Exchange mail account setup and accessible in my mail on iPad... however my kids use it and i would like to restrict them from accessing this specific portion of the device.  I tried viewing restriction options and do not see that i can apply a restriction specifically to Mail.  Thanks for your help.

Not a feature of iOS. Check the AppStore to see if there are other
mail apps that allow passcode protection.
Or use Safari to log onto your email via a web-based interface and
enter your credentials each time. A bit slower, but the kids will
not know the details to login.

  • HT1212 My 7 year pls has forgotten her passcode for her iPod touch. I have put it into recovery and through iTunes tried to restore. But it will only let me also try to update it with iOS 6.1.3 which no longer allows the bypass of the passcode. Can anyone

My 7 year old has a passcode on her iPod touch. She forgot it, after multiple attempts at what it could have been, it comes up with disabled etc.....I have tried it in recovery and hooking it up to iTunes (which the device has been previously synced up to) to restore. But the problem I am having is it only gives me the option to update also, to iOS 6.1.3 with the new bug fix which it won't allow you to bypass the passcode. It gets a little into the downloading, turns the iPod on and then asks for the passcode to continue?! I am at a loss as to what to do now, as every forum says put it in recovery and restore. I can't use the 'find my iPhone' app as the iPod is offline. I've tried it on a laptop not prev synced up to and get the same problem. Has any one got any ideas!

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • After ios 8 update ipad2 is asking for a passcode

Posting for my wife, since she's given up and gone to bed.  Yes, I've read all the lovely information on what to do if you've forgotten your passcode.  Here's the problem; she's never used one.  Ever.  She was working on her ipad earlier this evening, updated, and is now locked out because she can't enter a passcode.  After repeatedly locking the thing up entering every conceivable 4-digit number either of us would have used had we used one (even tried 0000) we are now the proud owners of a very expensive paperweight.
A follow-up, as I already know what the first responses will be.  She does not have a backup as we've never figured out how to have iTunes allow one computer to be authorized for two accounts.  I assumed she was backing up to iCloud but apparently not.  What, if any, information would she be able to recover if she had to completely reset?  All of her business data is on the pad; contacts, appointment calender, the works.  Do contacts  and calender get saved to iCloud if you don't use it to backup the device?  If we can get that much at least she can start over, though I suspect it won't be on an iPad.  I wasn't aware she knew some of the words she was using on her way up the stairs.
Just to weed out a couple of other probable comments, she does not use Find my device, has never had to enter a passcode on her lockscreen (just a swipe) before, and installed the update over WiFi.  I have not updated any of my devices and won't be until I know what happened with hers, so I'm not sure what the process is or where a code might have been accidentally entered.  She swears she didn't enter any codes during the update, but I am of the "believe but verify" camp when computers are involved.
I have a pretty good idea the answer is going to be "You're SOL, reset or chuck it" but I hold onto a thin thread of hope.

At what stage is it asking for a passcode?
The reason I ask is that during the upgrade process, the upgrade will ask you for a passcode if you do not already have one set; you have to explicitly tell it not to add a passcode if you didn't have one set.
Is it possible that at that stage of the upgrade, your wife just entered four digits assuming it was asking her for a prior passcode, and now the device is using those digits as a passcode?

  • My iPhone rejects my passcode when I enter it the first and the second time

My iPhone rejects my passcode when I enter it the first and the second time. Why?

Is it random? Does it occasionally accept the passcode, or does the passcode seem to be changed?

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • I pad has been disabled as kids typing in wrong passcode to many times. I pad says connect to I tunes, tried to but pc asks to put in passcode to enter I tunes but as its disabled I can't type in a passcode. Any ideas ?

iPad has been disabled as kids have typed in wrong passcode too many times. Have tried to connect to iTunes to restore it but can't as PC says to enter passcode but I obviously can't as iPad is disabled. Any ideas ?

You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
You will need to restore using Recovery Mode. You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • My passcode does not work on my ipad device. what are my options?

How do I reset my passcode on my iPad device?

    Hello eleemichel,
If you cannot access your iPad because the passcode is not being accepted, then what you would have to do is restore your iPad. To do that, take a look at the article below to walk you through it. It may come down to putting your iPad into recovery mode and then you should be able to use iTunes to restore it. If you have a back up in iTunes or iCloud, then you can put that data back on after the restore is complete and it will not bring back the passcode unless the back up was encrypted in iTunes.

Iphone 4 is stuck.  I have tried a master reset and it didn't work.  it won't slide to unlock or power off.  I did somehow get to the passcode screen but it didn't let me enter anything.  I have also tried on a pc through itunes but since I can't unlock it, it won't let me do that either.
