However your Hub has not been on long, it is best left on and alone. Could you post the "more details" from the hub stats. Also run and post result Bt speed test- http://speedtester.bt.com/

Slow Broadband the last few days - Vision related?
My broadband has been very slow the past few days and often comes up with the homehub screen saying there's been a problem and to "Try again".
It coincides (although I'm not sure if it was maybe happening the day before as well) with me digging out my BT vision box and setting it up.
I've since unplugged the ethernet cable from the vision box but it's made no difference, still very slow.
The broadband used to be connected at about 7.2mbps, now it's a 10th of that!
Anyone got any ideas? I've done the quiet line test which sounds fine. Haven't changed any of the connections from what it's always been

Slow broadband over the past few days.
My broadband speed has gone slow pver the past few days, from a guaranteed 2mbps to 0.92kbps
http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3615801582
I'm a BT Vision customer, so if I don't have the 2mbps guaranteed, my Bt Vision is pointless.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
there is no speed guaranteed - all packages are sold as up to speeds. no ISP guarantees any speed
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Hi, I got BT fot 1 year and everything was all right. But for 3 days now it's very slow.
Normaly I got 5m, now it's 300ko ! Stange thing : It was working at 3am this morning (5mega), but not anymore.
I tried to reset/restart the box, it still the same. Not sure about it so here is a picture. It's what i'm using for 1 year
Here is what I did before the 2nd screenshot :
Step 1:- Ensure your computer is plugged into the broadband line to be tested. This speedtester will not work on iPads/Tablets,smartphones or other mobile devices.
Step 2:- Ensure your computer is directly connected to your modem/router via an Ethernet Connection (i.e. not via a wireless or powerline adapters).
Step 3:- Ensure that any wireless adaptor in your computer is switched off.
Step 4:- Close any programs that may be running on your computer. This in cludes any background programs such as anti-virus software (such as Norton McAfee, or NetProtect+) corporate VPN or Peer2Peer client.(Please ensure you re enable any anti-virus software after you have finished testing).
Step 5:-Reboot your modem/router by powering it off, waiting one minute, and then powering it up again.Wait for any lights on the modem router to stabilise before the starting the test.
Step 6:-Restart your browser.
Step 7:-Ensure that no other people or devices(eg. broadband-connected TV set-top box) are using the broadband line to be tested. -
Extremely slow broadband the last 3-4 weeks
Hi
I've been a BT total broadband customer for years. I've not moved house for more than two years. I used to get actual download speeds in excess of 3mbps, I now struggle to get 300kbps. This has only happend in the last few weeks.
I've phoned BT's support and been through all the checks several times, microfilters, master telephone socket etc. I was put through to BT engineering who say they've made some changes to improve the speed but nothing has happend in real terms to the speed. They then said they'd call me back and haven't.
Can someone here help me? I used to enjoy reliable, high speed broadband but have had nothing but a dribble for the last few weeks. Just to reiterate - nothing has changed within my house. Everything is exactly how it was when I used to enjoys 10 times the speeds. At the moment it is essentially unusable except for basic web browsing.
Here is a recent speedtest taken today at 8.58pm, more than 3 days after the last router reset:
Test1 comprises of two tests
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
233 Kbps
0 Kbps
500 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 233 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 100-500 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :572 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 440 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 350 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 24.15:15.86:59.99 (SBE:NBEBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
343 Kbps
0 Kbps
440 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 343 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 440 Kbps

Unbelievably slow broadband...
Hi all
I live in a village a few miles out from Newark, so not exactly likely to have scorchingly fast broadband. I was told 2mb was the fastest it would go, but anything around 1mb+ is fine for us and after a few days (in Nov 2010) I got some test data saying I was hitting approaching 2mb. Not anymore.
For the past month or so our connection speed has been terrible. Just checked speed again and Download is 112kb and Upload is 360kb. I have never known Upload to be faster than Download - to be 3 times faster is bizarre!
I've been sifting through some of the forum messages trying to understand what's happened to my speed and I've noticed that a few people mention the fact that you have to keep connected in order to improve your profile - whatever that means. I turn my hub off every night because, well, it seems daft to have it on when no-one is using it; it's just a waste of electricity. But does this mean I am compromising my potential speed?
I've had a look at my ADSL settings - not pretty:

I think noise might be an issue here too.
Anyone able to help and/or expand on things for me?
Cheers
NickHi Phoenicks_uk,
Welcome to the forum. Looking at the details you posted there does look to be a lot of noise on your line. I would like to take a look at your connection for you. Please could you drop me an email with your BT account details and a link to this thread?

Slow broadband and 10 day wait period
Hi,
Maybe you can help me. I have moved to my new home and I have had the broadband active for about 5 days now. The download connection rate has never gone beyond 128kBps. The IP profile has stayed at 2Mbps. (I have BT Broadband unlimited option 3). The call to the helpline has basically suggested that I wait for 10 days and that I do not reset the router in the meanwhile. (If the modem can't get better than 128Kbps connection rate, the IP profile will never improve, in fact I expect it to go lower)
As far I can see the modem stats show a very high noise margin. I did initially directly connect to the master socket, removing the bottom plate and plug in the modem into that. That did not really make any difference to the datarate.
Here are the stats from the modem, and the two results from http://speedtester.bt.com/

Results from the first tests at http://speedtester.bt.com/ was inconclusive and it suggested doing the third test
Download speeda chieved during the test was - 14 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 64 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
This test was not conclusive and further testing is required. This might be useful for your ISP to investigate the fault.
So here are the results from third test
Download speed achieved during the test was - 18 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 400-2000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
Your service was found to be performing poorly. Please raise a fault with your service provider, stating that the BT Performance Tester tool indicates poor service throughput performance after the third test
When I called the support line, they remotely logged onto my computer, accessed the router and fiddled with the wireless setting and told me to wait for a a few days. Impossible to get them to consider anything else. Maybe you will be able to escalate this for me.
Thank you for your time.
Regards
NirmalThanks for your quick reply.
I did the quiet line test in the master socket, but I could not hear anything that's unusual. It was quiet!
So I plug the modem in the master socket and cheked the noise margin numbers again, no improvement.

Any other suggestions? -
I have had ADSL now for 10 days and it is resolutely stuck ay 2gb despite the stats showing a good connection to the exchange
When I run speed test I get :
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.71 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps
I seem to be stuck at 2Mb/s
I have spoken to the help line and tried just using the master socket (with faceplate removed and a microfilter plugged in but no phones or other wiring attached). Any suggestions what to do next?

Please, the battery of my mac air does not last more than two hours, it's been over 30 days I sent for technical assistance and nothing! I am very disappointed with the mac air, I had a very different expectation of apples products!!!
Maybe the problem is not your MB Air......
Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items. Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness. -
WRT54GS v7. Slows down over the course of a day.
I've got a WRT54GS v7 router with the latest firmware as of writing this. It is connected to a wired PC, a wireless PC, and a Wii (wireless).
I get great connection rates with the setup and everything seems to work fine, for a while. But after about a day (sometimes more or less) the connection rates on all of the machines slowly drops to intolerable levels. Worse than dial up levels.
A hard reset (pull the plug for a few seconds) on the router will bring things back to a normal pace, but only for a day before everything repeats. I've tried tinkering with settings and such but can't seem to figure out what is causing the problem.
Has this sort of behavior been seen before? What kinds of things can I do to stop it? Thanks in advance.

Message Edited by AltF4Warrior on 09-24-2007 12:37 PMAre the intranet (local) rates good but only the internet slow, or both? Try resetting only your modem to isolate the problem. I have a similar problem with a WRT54GS v6 but the problem recurs over several days.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
maybe this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

My DSL has slowed down over the last few months
Guys;
My DSL has slowed down over the last few months. I had the service that is up to 1.5 M and I used to get 1.2 ish on the verizon speed test, lately I've been getting between .9 and 1.0 at the most. I got the info from the speed test and here is a portion of that info:

Client Receive Window detected at 1045440 bytes.
Cable modem/DSL/T1 link found.
Link set to Full Duplex mode

SHould I be concerned by the portion that I bolded and underlined?
Also, I just last night upgraded my service to the 1.1 to 3.0 service but I've not gotten a speed increase. Any suggestions?

Have a 802.11n time capsule, the range of the wireless network has shrunk down to nothing over last few days. Used to be able to use wireless network anywhere in house, but now can only use in my office. Will not connect to iphones, ipad, itouch, or notebook. Worked fine last week, but over weekend just started having issues.
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has appeared recently that is preventing your Time Capsule (TC) from providing a clean RF signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible. Look for other Wi-Fis that may be operating nearby. Note those with the strongest signals and which channels they are operating on ... then change the channel used by the TC to be at least 3-5 channels away. -
