Unblacklisted

My Blackberry Curve 8520 was stolen...the phone was blacklisted. Has since been recovered and unblacklisted.
It was password protected..told by a Blackberry call centre to put in wrong password 10 times and it would wipe the phone clean. Now cannot get connected.."phone not allowed MM6" network is Vodacom-SA.
Have now been trying for nearly a week...Vodacare tech. says it is not a software issue.
Was originally a UK O2 phone which has been unlocked for all networks and worked for over 6mths.
Can anyone assist. Pleeease

Hi jules9naledi,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
In this case, I would advise contacting your wireless service provider again regarding the "Phone not allowed MM6" error you are receiving on your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9780 smartphone.
Thanks.

  • Unblacklist an Address or Domain

OK, I realize this is not a huge issue, but it's frustrating me and I would like to learn the solution. One of my staff is getting married and signed up with "theknot.com" This site sends offers from the email address "[email protected]" The trouble is that my amvisd.conf file is set up to soft-blacklist senders with "offers" in the sender address. In general, this makes good filtering sense, but I would like to allow "[email protected]" to get through.
In other words, the following line appears in my amavisd.conf file:
new_RE( # regexp-type lookup table, just happens to be all soft-blacklist
    [qr'^(bulkmail|offers|cheapbenefits|earnmoney|foryou)@'i => 5.0],
I tried adding "unblacklist_from [email protected]" to "/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf", but that has no effect (whitelisting and blacklisting there usually works fine).
The email still gets quarantined with the header:
    Delivered-To: spam-quarantine
    X-Envelope-From: <[email protected]>
    X-Envelope-To: <[email protected]>

Any ideas about why unblacklisting this isn't working?

I think I may have figured this out. I will not know for sure until I see something from "[email protected]" pass through again. However, just in case anyone is interested, I'll explain what I think is at work here.
By the way, what I am about to say applies to the newest version of the amavisd.conf file. It is not an issue with the older amavisd.conf file that comes with the stock 10.4 server install.
"Section V" of the new amavisd.conf file seems to have two kinds of blacklisting -- SOFT BLACKLISTING AND BLACKLISTING. Both are uncommented in the the unedited amavisd.conf file.
The first type, SOFT BLACKLISTING, takes a soft approach and just adds score points to e-mails from certain senders:
    # Instead of hard black- or whitelisting, a softer approach is to add
    # score points (penalties) to the SA score for mail from certain senders."
The second type, BLACKLISTING, takes a "hard" approach:
    # BLACKLISTING: messages from specified SENDERS are DECLARED SPAM.
Since the file comes with both of these types uncommented, the hard blacklisting overrides soft blacklisting.
To solve this problem, I commented out the following HARD BLACKLIST lines:
    # illustrates the use of regexp lookup table:
    @blacklistsendermaps = ( new_RE(
    qr'^(bulkmail|offers|cheapbenefits|earnmoney|foryou|greatcasino)@'i,
    qr'^(investments|loseweighttoday|market\.alert|money2you|MyGreenCard)@'i,
    qr'^(new\.tld\.registry|opt-out|opt-in|optin|saveonlsmoking2002k)@'i,
    qr'^(specialoffer|specialoffers|stockalert|stopsnoring|wantsome)@'i,
    qr'^(workathome|yesitsfree|your_friend|greatoffers)@'i,
    qr'^(inkjetplanet|marketopt|MakeMoney)\d*@'i,
I left the SOFT BLACKLIST table active. I think this will fix the problem.

    2) Sometimes computer freeze while I working in KDE. I don't save logs, but I remeber that:
    X: page allocation failure
    in kernel.log.
Can anyone has tips or workarounds for this bugs (or just catalyst proprietary driver is piece of sh*t?)?
    Can anyone help?

I guess I have the same issue ( https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=108083 ). I removed the catalyst package and installed the open source driver (packages: xf86-video-ati and ati-dri) as a workaround to wait until the issue is resolved. If you want to do that, remember to update your xorg.conf (you can simple rename that... it's not needed with ati driver) and rc.conf (unblacklist the radeon module). Maybe downgrading to Xorg 1.8 and installing older driver would help. Hopefully somebody with greater knowledge will notice this problem.

  • [Solved] Black screen - Installation issues on Dell Inspiron 1720

    Hi,
I'm new to Archlinux, and i want to post my experience/issues of my first installation:
I performance the core installation (base + devel packages and wireless tools as extra package)
    relevant hardware/drivers used:
    b44 for broadcom nic (wired)
    iwl3945 for my wireless nic
intel g965 graphics card (intel GM965 express chipset - xf86-video-intel driver)
Installation went ok till i had to upgrade the system:
    pacman -Suy (after package synchronization)
    glibc: /usr/bin/tzselect exists in filesystem
    glibc: /usr/sbin/zdump exists in filesystem
    glibc: /usr/sbin/zic exists in filesystem
After some research on the wiki i found that i had to query the packages to know if those files are owned by a program or not (if no pakcage owns those i could remove them, but it was not the case)
    pacman -Qo tzselect
    pacman -Qo zdump
    pacman -Qo zic
All were owned by the package tzdata:
so i reinstalled the package tzdata:
    pacman -S tzdata
Has this to be filed as a bug or is this a stupid newbie error? (did the installation on a virtual machine, on a laptop (twice) and always got this error)
After that i was able to upgrade the system.
Following that i installed the video card drivers:
pacman -S xf86-video-intel and i rebooted the system.
After reboot i got the grub screen, booted the system and got a black screen (last thing i saw as something like loading udevevents..)
Googling again and looking the forums here, i read that i had to chroot my environment and update the system again (pacman -Suy -> which did not help).
Soo after some more searching i found 2 things:
    - https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KM … odesetting  : i added this in menu.lst: nomodeset
    - i blacklisted the intel driver
Rebooted and i my graphics were working again.
So later on i'll test if the parameter solved my problem, or blacklisting the driver.
    - i'll unblacklist the driver and reboot -> if it works then i know it's that parameter
    - if not ok, i'll blacklist the driver and remove the parameter from the menu.lst
I hope to find what's causing the issue.
Anyone having issues with the intel driver?
    Thanks for sharing your experience/info.

Getting a little bit further, it requires a lot of configuration to get what you want..
    - I just installed fluxbox
    - added my user to the sudo group (allowing to reboot)
    - installed Slim
What's i've noticed also is that when you select an interface in etc/rc.conf, for example, eth0, and it's not connected at bootup, you lose like 10 seconds before the boot process proceeds.
If you out-comment that line, you get a red line (error) saying that no interface is definded.
I guess i'll just have to disable the network daemon at startup and install some kind of network connection manager for my wireless at logon.

  • Losing IPv6 default route iOS 8.1

    Hi,
I have a problem with my iPhone 5C losing the IPv6 default route intermittently during the day since the upgrade to iOS 8.x.x.
Today I got a very close timestamp to when the default route was lost:
    Oct 28 20:16:37 iPhone com.apple.WebKit.Networking[212] <Error>: tcp_connection_destination_prepare_complete 470 connectx to 2001:41d0:8:e8ad::1.80@0 failed: No route to host
I was visiting http://ipv6-test.com/ and all tests verified OK, a few seconds later I followed the link to their speedtest: http://ipv6-test.com/speedtest/
"Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server"
As of writing this post one hour later iOS has not repaired the condition:
    Oct 28 21:16:54 iPhone com.apple.WebKit.Networking[585] <Error>: tcp_connection_destination_prepare_complete 23 connectx to 2001:4810::110.80@0 failed: No route to host
This iPhone 5C still has this problem when restored to the default factory settings under iOS 8.1 via iTunes.
Only the default route is lost, not the link, prefix or the routed IPv6 address.
All other devices (yes, other iOS 8.1 devices) on my network do not have any problem with losing the default route.
    Any thoughts on these logs?

iOS 8.1.2 fixed this problem on my iPhone 5C. I have not had any issues with the default route since the update.
But yes, toggling Wi-Fi always fixed the problem when I had it. I guess there was some specific Wi-Fi driver issue on iPhone 5C that made iOS unaware of the Router Advertisements and when the lifetime hit zero the default route was deleted.

  • [solved] After a full-system upgrade (Linux 3.15.8) = Wifi undetected

Hi, following this post, I'm seeking help concerning a big problem with my wifi.
In fact, it has been a few months since my wifi interface isn't recognized anymore. Yesterday, after a few tests, I found it was due to the kernel version, so I tried to reinstall my first ArchLinux (Linux 3.13.5-1-ARCH) : it worked, my wifi was back. The problem was that I couldn't reinstall all my stuffs : so I did a full-system upgrade (knowing I will lose my wifi) and now I just want to fix it once and for all (I'm done dealing with it).
So now, your help would be very appreciated. Does anyone have an idead? Or need more details about my config, my laptop, or whatever?

Okay then, here we go :
    When I do a
    lspci
I have the following output :

So, as you can see, the Network Controller is the following :
03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)
    When I do a
    ip link
this is what I obtain :
    [nugetchar@arch ~]$ ip link

I started reading this page but am not sure if it is relevant due to the fact it concerns the 3.8.2B version.
    Finally, a
    more /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
gives me the following output :
    ^C[nugetchar@arch ~]$ more /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
    alias floppy off
    blacklist fd0
    blacklist floppy
    blacklist ipv6
    blacklist bcma
    blacklist pcspkr
    blacklist snd_pcsp
I think I need to unblacklist bcma ?
@ewaller : I just saw you reply, here is the output for ls /lib/modules
    [nugetchar@arch ~]$ ls /lib/modules
    3.15.8-1-ARCH extramodules-3.13-ARCH extramodules-3.15-ARCH

    Hello
I have been trying to get an old Acer Aspire One working for a trip out of the country (where I don't want to carry the 6kg of a Clevo p150em on my back).
However, the wifi driver isn't working.
I've got the 14e4:4315 which is supposed to be supported according to this.
I quickly discovered the arch wiki page for Broadcom wifi drivers and I made sense of it after a little while, realizing that I probably should not blacklist anything or change much at all, contrary to a majority of the text there. The required drivers should be in the kernel, except for the firmware.
Looking at threads like https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=117035 makes me think the only thing I should have to do is download the tarball from AUR, makepkg it, pacman -U it, reboot my system and be happy. Still I end up with a dmesg tail containing the
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43/ucode5.fw" not found
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43-open/ucode5.fw" not found
b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … cefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefully read all instructions on this website.
Of course, all the files are in /usr/lib/firmware/b43 (there is no b43-open there though) and /lib is symlinked to there.
I'm unsure where to go with this now. Any clues?

    Hi,
I just went through a very similar problem and thought I should post here.
I went through a fresh install of Arch using a USB wireless dongle using carl firmware. For some reason (can't remember why) I manually copied carl firmware from my previous install to make it work.
Anyway, after installing I wanted to start using my built in Broadcom card (4311 by the way) so installed b43-firmware from AUR. Installation finished without errors.
I 'ip link' and see nothing new. I then
    rmmod b43
    modprobe b43
and get a freeze. Force shut down, reboot and
    dmesg | grep b43
    and see
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43/ucode5.fw" not found
b43-phy0 ERROR: Firmware file "b43-open/ucode5.fw" not found
b43-phy0 ERROR: You must go to http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Dri … cefirmware and download the correct firmware for this driver version. Please carefully read all instructions on this website.
so I check whether the files exist and they do. I check permissions and see the same as innsmouthrain. I check
    pacman -Ql b43-firmware
and it returns nothing. Try to reinstall b43-firmware package and see the same '.. exists on filesystem' errors. I then completely removed the b43 folder in /usr/lib/firmware/, removed and installed b43-firmware again. Again checked with
    pacman -Ql b43-firmware
and hooray the files show up.
    Reboot then
    [stefan@stefan-laptop ~]$ dmesg | grep b43
    [ 8.011883] b43-phy0: Broadcom 4311 WLAN found (core revision 10)
    [ 8.046772] b43-phy0: Found PHY: Analog 4, Type 2 (G), Revision 8

    [ 76.582325] b43 ssb0:0 wlan0: disabling HT/VHT due to WEP/TKIP use
    followed by
    ip link set wlan0 up
    wifi-menu
    It tells me also
    :: Scanning for networks
    > No networks found [FAILED]
I try again immediately afterwards and it succeeds.
So that is my story. I didn't need to blacklist bcma by the way. I tried once using both 'blacklist' and 'install' but failed due to b43 being unable to load. According to the wiki
Since kernel 3.3, the brcmsmac module actually uses bcma, so bcma needs to be unblacklisted or the Wi-Fi interface will not appear.
so I stopped pursuing that route after reading that.
I don't know why the files did initially not belong to b43-firmware and why they were not being found. There's a slight chance that I copied by old b43 files manually during installation as well ( I can't remember but it's a very slim chance), tough I think I would have seen errors during first install of b43-firmware then.

  • [SOLVED] No sound cards detected - /proc/asound missing

Yet another case of 'i've spent too long banging my head on the keyboard so i'm going to run to you for help'. Essentially i've been using OSS since i've installed Arch, worked fine - although there was absolutely no sound in Wine programs no matter what driver i selected so i decided to try using ALSA. This is the start of my problem. Removed all the OSS packages i could find, ! commented the daemon in rc.conf then proceeded to install ALSA... or, some ALSA utilities since it seems to be included in the kernel? Anyway, alsaconf can't find any sound cards. Upon further investigation it seems as though there isn't any /proc/asounds directory at all. Although lspci clearly shows:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
So i'm pretty stumped, no idea where to go from here. I've got ALSA working fine on this machine before, in Arch too... thanks for any help

Yup, i had done that. However, my search led to this thread:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119263
Which seemed to be a similar problem but their solution did not help (pacman -S kernel26). But i'm pretty sure by this point it's a problem with my modules (ultimately my own stupidity, but we'll get to that later ). This led me here:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=18828
Which again didn't present any solutions that worked, however, upon checking my rc.conf again i noticed a blacklisted module by the name of 'soundcore'. I don't ever remember doing that, or could think of any reason why it would exist so i unblacklisted it, rebooted and now it all works - finding sound cards, alsamixer, playing sound. The lot.
All that's left to do now is see if switching from OSS to ALSA actually solved the problem in Wine i wanted it to Thanks a lot for all the help guys!
    Also - changed thread title.
EDIT: It did fix the problem, OSS is great but it simply does not play ball in the slightest when it comes to Wine.

  • If a stolen iPhone was in airplane mode will a find my iPhone passcode lock apply itself when the hone is switched off of airplane mode?

My girlfriend's iPhone was stolen whilst on holiday in London. The phone was in airplane mode and didn't appear on Find My IPhone, which was installed and enabled (all set tis correct other than airplane mode). I sent a remote passcode lock to the phone.
The next day the iPhone appeared on the map, obviously having been switched on and had airplane mode switched off. My question is, will the remote lock apply immediately the phone comes back online?
I assume their only opting at that point is to do a factory restore which would wipe all the data anyway, right?
Also, can't Apple track the IMEI number regardless of a restore and a new SIM? Or the network operator that the phone was originally connected to?

This notion that is being floated around that Apple's hands are tied due to privacy and legal concerns doesn't impress me much at all. My iPad was stolen about a month ago. I have the receipt, the serial number (from my box), and the MAC address (from my home router's log). Armed with that information it's technologically feasible to track, deauthorize, and eventually recover my device. But for reasons I have been unable to ascertain Apple refuses to provide anything like this for their customers. And as their devices become increasingly smaller, more desirable, and more expensive theft of them will also increase.
But to my point about legalities and privacy concerns: whether they are true or not, it certainly doesn't stop Barnes and Noble from blacklisting their Nooks when they are reported stolen. At least, that's what I found after buying a Nook color off craigslist. When I tried to register it online it refused. When I called in to customer support they informed me that it was a stolen device. If I wanted to remove the blacklist, they explained, simply provide the last 4 digits of the credit card, the name on the receipt, and the total dollar amount of the store along with store number where the device was purchased. If I lacked any of that information, I could simply contact the store and retreive it from their records. Since I was not the original owner, however, my option was to turn the device over to the police and hope they returned it to the rightful owner.
When I explained this scenario to Apple Care he insisted the limitation was due to privacy concerns. That defies logic, however, when one considers that it's the original owner (and only through the poilce and Apple's legal department) who must report the device stolen. And, like B&N, it's the customer who is able to provide personal information to blacklist (as well as unblacklist) a device according to his or her own volition.
I've been thinking a bit about this for some time...plenty of time to think on the couch sans iPad anway...and I've been wondering why in the world does Apple not allow users to deauthorize and blacklist iDevices through iTunes itself. At that point Apple has no involvement in the process and even the barest of legalities are irrelevant. My assumption is that Jobs has thought long and hard about these issues, including my described resolution, so it begs the question as to why Apple refuses to do anything about stolen devices. I hope one day I can ask him because that is a question I would like answered more than anything: what is the rationale for the hands-offs approach to this? I can't fathom one myself but I have to guess there is one. Apple hasn't come across to me as a callous company so I'm reluctant to attribute it to that.

  • [SOLVED] Upgrading Linux 3.0.7-1 - 3.1-4 Breaks Wicd

As the subject points out, upgrading Linux from 3.0.7-1 to 3.1-4 seems to break Wicd on my laptop. When I do this, no wireless networks show up and if I plug in ethernet, I cannot connect to it either. I solved the problem by blacklisting the wicd daemon, unblacklisting the network daemon, and uncommenting interface=eth0 in /etc/rc.conf, then rebooting, downloading the older kernel (3.0.7-1) which I had unfortunately deleted from /etc/pacman/pkg, and downgrading with pacman -U. I wonder if anyone else had similar trouble with this update....
    Last edited by tony5429 (2012-04-05 07:43:37)

Can't connect to anything with Wicd anymore either.
    Using testing with:
Atheros Communications AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 Gigabit or Fast Ethernet (rev b0)
    Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100
WLAN networks will still show up and apparently connect — LAN ones won't — but Wicd fails to retrieve a IP as all dhcp clients consistently time out.
Manual connection (dhcpcd for LAN + wpa_supplicant for WLAN) works just fine.
edit: Doesn't appear to be caused by that kernel update on my system, though.
edit2: Apparently Wicd's configuration files — which had worked perfectly for months — somehow turned insufficient. I had it create new ones and now it works again.

  • IPhone Reported Lost by the Seller!

Hey, I bought an iPhone 4 off someone, after purchasing it, a couple weeks after (while waiting for it to be Unlocked by Vodafone) the Seller admitted that he rang and reported it 'lost' so that it would get Blacklisted so i'd return it back to him.. so he could then sell it for more!!! (arsehole!)
Well, it isn't lost, I bought it off him via PayPal...
I think its a little ****** what he's done, but is there any way I can get this iPhone 'unblacklisted'?
I've been trying to get a hold of 1 for awhile now to replace this 1 but the 2 I purchased.. the Sellers were complete time wasters!!
so im still trying to get one, so I can send this 1 back to the arsehole... but having no luck yet,
I wanted to purchase via Apple but most of my money is in my PayPal Account and it takes days to transfer to my Bank!
(as Apple dont accept PayPal Payments)
So yeah.. is there any way Apple can unblacklist it?
    thanks.

I've bought hundreds of items on eBay, no problems at all with anything, and not really any problem with this, it's jus that he was selling it, I bought it, but then he noticed the eBay Fee which was like £30+ (cant remember exactly)... all of a sudden I woke up once morning and noticed No Service, so I emailed Vodafone and they said it had been reported stolen... so obviously I contacted the Seller and he said he reported it lost so i'd send it back to him :-/ weird guy!!! but yeah I opened a Dispute on PayPal but they gave me until the 31st to send it back, well... i've not been able to get my hands on a new 1 yet so cant send this 1 back yet! pain in the backside as I need 1 on me at all times because of work... once I post this 1 off and supply the Tracking Number on PayPal (after I open another Dispute) they'll Refund me the money, but was just wondering if there was anything I COULD DO to get it off the Blacklist, never mind though, thanks anyway.

  • Blacklisted IP address?? Help!

I have been having many problems with mac mail - the most recent and most worrying that not all my emails are arriving at their recipients and not all emails directed to me are arriving to my account.
I use a .mac account as my main email. I also use this as my business address so it's stressing me quite a bit apart from making me look stupid to clients!
I have been emailing mac support over the last day or so and they have told me it is definitely not a .mac server issue ( despite I can see other people on the forums having similar problems!?)
but more likely that my IP addresses are blacklisted. It seems that this can happen if your IP is suspected of trafficing spam.
Not sure why then that I have been blacklisted as I only use my email for normal corespondance between clients and friends and rarely send out mass group mails and I certainly am not trying to sell viagra en mass!
( I use different IP at my studio & at home and it has been happening in both places )
I have checked if my IP addresses are blacklisted through a site called www.mxtoolbox.com and right enough it says they both are. I really feel a bit out of my depth here and not really sure what to do.
The website I checked on seems to have a section to unblacklist you by entering details etc though as I'm in the UK it's of no help to me being only for USA/CANADA.
Now I'm lost. Anyone please have any ideas what I can do to releave this? Is this in fact a legitimate thing that can happen? Is there a way to become unblacklisted...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

perhaps i should note, i was out of town this weekend with my powerbook and need some technical assistance and i think some of my diagnostics were changed....i've had no problem connecting for the last month, just since i've been back...

  • Team Licence, 1 Seat, 2 Devices

    Hi Guys,
I have a seat in a team licence but when I try to install on a second device I am only getting the trial versions of the software.  I have installed through Creative Cloud Installer but still the Software tells me I have trial countdown or I need to validate the software and enter a serial number.
    Can you help with this?
Do I have to sign out of one device before the licence allows another device to work

  • Kernel /OS just hangs with booting with 2.6.28 kernel

I was using 2.6.27-arch , the previous one, everything was fine, i updated with pacman , the new kernel,
while it is booting it comes to a stage where it probes PCI ...... things like that and just hangs on. no further going than that, so i had to downgrade again to 2.6.27 which works perfectly fine.
    labtop: toshiba satellite 1135
    processor: intel celeron.
it just hangs in middle , so i can;t show you guys output, what could be the reason? any clues, i tired adding
    clocksource=hpet
as well as clocksource=acpi_pm ... but nothing,
kernel hangs when it gets to that point.

You mean it stops at 'Loading udev' event, or not even that far.  If its getting to udev try leave it for quite a while, even though it appears frozen it sometimes reaches a timeout and keeps going.
Something to try just as a blind hunch, blacklist (or unblacklist if it is already) pcspkr in rc.conf.
