  • GTX 970 Gaming no error reboots

Bought a new GTX 970 Gaming edition and seem to be plagued by constant reboots with it. Most of them occur within 30 seconds after logging into windows, though once or twice it has made it a minute or two before rebooting. Hasn't once stayed up long enough to even get into a game. This only occurs after installing the nvidia drivers (card works fine as long as its just running with standard VGA).
    System Specs
    i7 2600k
Gigabyte z68ap-d3 v.1 BIOS version F8 (latest available)
    16 gigs of RAM (Kingston)
700 Watt OCZ PSU (2 SSD, 2 standard hard drives and a DVD Burner)
Previous Graphics card with no issues MSI ATI 6950. Have tried different driver versions (latest from nvidia, CD that came with the GPU, and one back from .22 I believe) and all of them had the same issue. Last thing I tried was a clean reinstall of Windows and even with just the base drivers installed the issue came back the second I installed the nvidia drivers.
Any suggestions? Right now I'm thinking my only options are either RMA or try upgrading the motherboard... but from other posts I've read it seems like this board should be fine even though it only supports PCIE 2.0.
Oh and event viewer isn't showing any GPU specific errors, other than other various built in windows services that seem to not be loading correctly at boot after installing the nvidia drivers.

    Update...
New System Specs (case and CD drive aside, everything has been replaced since I originally dropped this new card in)
    Windows 7 Pro x64
    Intel 4790k (Stock Speeds)
Asus Hero VII (BIOS 2012, Latest from October)
MSI GTX 970 Gaming (Factory OC)
4x4GB Kingston HyperX Genesis RAM (was all I had on hand, but it new in the box and Memtest finds no errors)
    Corsair RM850 PSU
Tried every Nvidia driver from .11 through the new beta of .80 and I'm still getting random crashes. Temperatures are all fine (never seen the GPU go over 63 degrees)
With the exception of once while changing zones, every single crash has occurred either from just sitting at the desktop or web browsing (crashed 4 times trying to type this post...) In fact, when playing Planetside 2 or trying to run stress tests on the machine (3dMark, Passmark etc) it seems more stable than just clicking around inside the OS. Played for 6 hours with another 2 spent web browsing last night and thought that the .80 drivers had finally solved the issue, until I turned on my computer this morning and it rebooted again before I could even open my browser. I'm pretty much down to an RMA at this point unless anyone has a suggestion. Oh at least I'm getting a consistent error when it crashes now.

  • MSI GTX 960 GAMING 100ME new BIOS

I’ve bought MSI GTX 960 GAMING 100ME and I have question about BIOS of this card. Some time ago MSI announced that the’re releasing a new BIOS for GTX 960 increases clock speeds. New default clock speed are set at 1241 MHz default (1190 MHz old), and boost closk are set at 1304 MHz against 1253 MHz old bios.
    http://www.computerbase.de/2015-02/msi-geforce-gtx-960-gaming-erhaelt-neues-bios/
I got card with older version of bios and for now MSI has not yet provided the new BIOS file to download. I know that cards with new bios are in stores. Example:
    http://www.hwbox.gr/content/369-msi-gtx-960-100-million-edition-review-page16.html
I know that I could use MSI Gaming APP which on OC Mode will give me 1241MHz and 1303 MHz at Boost. But I don’t like this software. I’m using LCD profile created by Spyder 3 Elite, and MSI Gamming APP disabling my profile, and I have load it up manually. So this software sucks.
So, when new bios will be available for download?

Sorry, cannot help to answer this
However: provide your current vBIOS (use GPUz to make copy of it) and S/N of the card.
    Little GPUz guide:
Maybe Svet knows a bit more about this..
If he doesn't have latest vBIOS that was, apparently, announced by MSI, then you have to wait for their answer.

  • PC freezes at BIOS with new MSI GTX 970 gaming

Went from a Windforce 670 to a MSI GTX 970 gaming, and the PC locks at the startup bios screen. I get 1 beep every 10-15 secs or so.
I've tried reseating the card, memory sticks, checking connections and nothing. If I put the windforce 670 back in, the pc is perfectly fine.
    Specs
    Windows 7 64 Bit
    Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4 GHz
    BIOS AMI 7.14
    DDR3 ram 8gb @ 677mhz
    Corsair GS600 PSU
    Pegasus Corporation 2AC2 mobo

    Hi,
Yes you will need to reinstall Operating System, type the activation key in, install fresh drivers etc. You can save documents, backup anything like installing packages for favourite software (e.g. CCleaner) but all other has to be reinstalled.
I would suggest Z97 PC Mate with i5 4690K, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cooler. Personal budget choice but still with decent performane (quad CPU and OC availability). RAM+PSU+Case you currently have should work fine.

  • IS GTX 970 GAMING 4G compatible with MSI B75A-G43 ?

So i bought myself today this card GTX 970 GAMING 4G
When i went home to install it i found out that it does not work. the fans spool up, the msi logo lights up, but no picture on monitors, not even the bios screen. i managed to boot up with the ntegrated graphics, GTX does not show up in device manager. Motherboard bios is up to date with the last bios version from the boards support/dovnload page version  10.10
    Motherboard: B75A-G43
    PSU: Corsair CX750T
My question, are the graphics card and motherboard compatible, did i get a bad card or do i need a new motherboard.

The warranty guys did check the card out and confirmed that it was dead on arrival. So they replaced the card and i had them check first if the new one works. It did so now it's waiting until evening for some gaming action

  • MOVED: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G + MSI Z87-G45 incompatible? Noise on speakers

This topic has been moved to MSI Intel boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184068.0

    Used hardware
    MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G (+ RMA'ed new one)
    Gigabyte 670 GTX Windforce
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming motherboard (with Intel i7-4770K, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB, and Crucial M500 - 480GB SSD)
Asus P5N32-E with Q6600 and 8GB DDR2 (Going to test this)
    SoundBlaster-Z Audio card
Roccat Kave 5.1 Gaming Headphones (4x 3.5 mm jacks: Front, Rear, Center&bass, Microphone + USB amp/volume control)
    Corsair B600 (600W) PSU (secondary)
    Corsair RM750 (750W) PSU (Primary)
    To summarize
Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + Gigabyte GTX 670 + Roccat Kave = really faint noise only when scrolling in browser, in game not heard
Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave = in game loud and heavy noise + screech when scrolling in browser
    Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave = In game moderate to heavy noise
    Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave = In game weak to moderate noise
Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave with Mic disconnected = Almost no noise, ifg you listen for it, really faint background noise in game. But well within my acceptable limits.
    Tomorrow I'll try:
Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 (onboard sound) + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave without mic
Corsair RM750 + Asus P5N32-E (onboard sound) + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave with mic
I failed to mention, that the first thing I did was to remove my HD Audio Front panel connector off its header.
So I did some more searches. The noise has something to do with the capacitors on (presumably) the video card. The higher the pitch usually coincides with higher FPS. So the interference must be coming from the video card, as this is the last thing added and probably the main cause.
Both the motherboard & the SoundBlaster-Z pick up the EMI/RF interference. (I am disappointed by the SoundBlaster about this).
I'll test with the older motherboard and see how I proceed from there.

  • Can't OC my MSI GTX 970 GAMING

I had MSI GTX 970 GAMING which OC-ed very well (1540 Mhz boost) but had to return it because of loud coil whine. I bought second MSI card which is silent but can't OC it even by +50 Mhz in Afterburner because it drops gpu clock to default value in Valley benchmark after couple of minutes of testing. Do you know what is the reason of that?

Quote from: flobelix on 17-October-14, 15:48:18
Everything has been said above. As the reboot issue is no issue if using working clockrates there is still no problem.
You really don't see the issue with contributing to a thread about overclocking with the answer "Don't overclock and there isn't a problem"?
Flobelix, I'm not asking for a refund here.
I don't want a new card via RMA, and I'm not saying my card is bad in any way.
If it works at the shipped clocks just fine, then it's clearly fine. That's all that's promised anyway.
But I didn't come to a forum and post in this topic about overclocking to be shut down for talking about overclocking.
    I'm looking for discussion.
I already said if someone felt my issue was sufficiently different than the OP I'd happily make a new thread.
If that's not the case, then I think I'm well within the bounds of exactly what this thread is about.

  • GTX 970 Gaming 4G - BIOS Download

    Hey,
Sorry for the extra forum clutter, but after reading the vBIOS request post I thought it would be best to create a new thread. I've read quite a few posts here that relate to updated firmware for the GTX 970 Gaming 4G card and I wanted to make sure I was getting the correct firmware for my particular card!
My serial number is as follows (last few characters obfuscated): 602-V316-09SB1411XXXXXX
    And here's the BIOS file I extracted using GPU-Z:  GM204.zip (136.45 kB - downloaded 22 times.)
    Thanks in advance!

    latest one is .186: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184740.msg1456331#msg1456331

  • Different versions of GTX 970 Gaming?

    Hi all,
I have just received 2 MSI GTX 970 Gaming. And they are different. First off, they are both GTX 970, they say so in the box, GPU-Z confirms it, and I have no problem using them in SLI. But they are different physically. One of them is slightly larger and has a piece of what seems to be a retention bracket close to the rear I/O. Its sort of like the 980 cooler version:
    http://www.tweaktown.com/image.php?image=imagescdn.tweaktown.com/content/6/7/6710_02_msi_geforce_gtx_980_4gb_twin_frozr_v_gaming_oced_video_card_review_full.jpg
And it has the 84.04.31.00.F1 bios. The second one doesnt have that retention piece of metal and is slightly shorter. This cooler seems to be the "standard" one, as is the one I can see in most reviews:
    http://www.overclockers.ua/video/msi-gtx970-gaming-4g/03-big-msi-gtx970-gaming-4g.jpg
And it has the 84.04.36.00.F1 bios. So it has a newer bios. Can anyone please throw some light into this? Are there different cooler versions of the MSI GTX970?
Thanks a lot for your help!
