Unbreakable Linux Network Alert Icon - How to register?

Hi,
I just installed the Unbreakable Linux and when tried to use the up2date I get a message requesting to active my environment but I don't have a CSI as I'm an Oracle employee. Does anyone know how can I make it work?
Thanks
Claudio

Hello John,
I tried to subscribe to Unbreakable Linux Network with my company's CSI supplied to us through our Oracle partnership; I work for an Oracle Certified Advantage Partner. I have used my CSI for MetaLink registration and Service Requests, but it is not working when I try to register for "up2date" (error: "CSI is not valid").
Should my company's CSI work?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Sorry if this post is redundant or trivial.
We have Oracle 11.2 on Unbreakable 5.4 x_64.
My question is this. Is it possible to fetch patches for the DB through the Unbreakable Linux Network channels. Links so I can RTFM are most welcome.

ULN has operating system and vm releases/update downloads. [ My Oracle Support|https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html] (formerly Metalink) is the source for Oracle product patches. Please help me....

I don't think your problem will be solved here since this is the Oracle Forms forum. Go to the Linux forum.

    * The CSI you have entered is not valid for either Oracle VM or Enterprise Linux Support. Please enter a valid CSI.

    1. get an oracle unbreakable CSI (by buying a license for it)
    2. setup up2date with this CSI
    3. register your machine

    2,Use up2date packages_name install from ULN.

  • How to make Firefox access the internet from Oracle Ent. Unbreakable Linux?

    Hello
I have a Dell Duo Core x86 laptop that multiboots Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP and Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux. I use Internet Explorer to
access my email while at the library so I know my laptop can access the internet. I just installed the Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux in text mode and
I can still access the Internet but only if I use one of the Windows operating systems which is why I am keeping them for now. The reason is because when I
use Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux, when I select Firefox to access the internet I get these messages:
    "Server not found
Firefox can't find server at www.hotmail.com
    -check address for typing errors
-if unable to load pages check network connection
-if computer or network protected by firewall make sure Firefox permitted to access
    web"
None of those reasons are true for not gaining access to the internet. I want to use Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux from now which is why I installed
    but I need to know:
    1) Why do I get the "Server not found" and the other error messages when I try to access the internet using Firefox and what do I have to do to make Firefox
    access the internet successfully?

    Hi,
First you must confirm your laptop with Oracle Enterprise Unbreakable Linux can access internet.
Please open a terminal, input the following command
    1.ifconfig
    2.cat /etc/resolv.conf

  • How can i remove jdk1.4 install in oracle unbreakable linux.

How can i unstall jdk1.4 gnu jdk/bin path and jdk 1.4 gnu java from with my system.
    Regards
    Prashansh Kumar

From what I understand, the problem is that your classes are compiled for a later version of Java. I'm not sure at this point that uninstalling Java 1.4 is the right solution - it may break important system functions.
I would rather try another approach first:
    # alternatives --config java
-> select the java version you want as default. If you want to install java 1.6 you can try the following:
    # yum install java-1.6*
    or just the runtime package
    # yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk
    For example:
    # java -version
    java version "1.4.2"
    # yum install java-1.6.0-openjdk
    # alternatives --config java
There are 2 programs which provide 'java'.
      Selection    Command
    + 1           /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.4.2-gcj/bin/java
    *  2           /usr/lib/jvm/jre-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64/bin/java
Enter to keep the current selection[+], or type selection number: 2
    # java -version
    java version "1.6.0"

The Alerter also works in Webi - Advanced Editor.
Infoview > Preference > Web Intelligence > Select a default creation/editing tool > Select Advanced

I have created an alert using the Webi - Advanced Editor

  • How Do I Install Oracle Unbreakable Linux on My Virtual Machine

I would like to know the steps required to install Oracle Unbreakable Linux on my Virtual Machine, cos i tried to but i keep having problems when i get to selecting the destination for the installation, the prompt says i have to allow it format my hard disk wont i lose my files in the process.

When you create a virtual disk for your VMWare instance the format will only affect this disk. You can see this as it will display the size of the disk. If this is the size of the virtual disk (default = 8 GB) then go ahead. If this looks like your normal HD just stop and read the VMWare installation Guide from www.vmware.com

  • Alert icon in books

    Hello -
I am creating books which use images that are on a networked computer.
Periodically, that computer is turned off, and then on again.
Some of the documents in my books have the little yellow alert icon at the extreme right of the panel.
I assume that means the links are broken, but the alert icon is appearing on documents that don't have any images.
Running a pre-flight on the document that doesn't have any images reveals no problems.
Running a pre-flight on a document with linked images indicates that there are ## linked images, but 0 are missing...
So, my question is... what's up with the alert icon? What does it mean?
PS -when I open the document via the Book Panel, the yellow alert icon is replaced with an open-book icon.
    Thank you -
    Marion in Rochester

    Hi Bob -
    1. if the alert means "they're out of date", how do I refresh, or update, to get them "in date"
I just opened one document, and looked at the link panel. None of the links are broken. Nevertheless, I relinked everything. Saved and closed the file. The book pane still indicates an alert icon next to the file name.
    2. I'm not sure what I wrote that gives you the impression that I have "links showing up that aren't in the document"
I have documents in the book that do not contain any linked graphics.
The link panel does not have any links (which is accurate, since there are no images in the document)
The book panel has an alert icon next to the file.
I don't know how to find what the alert is warning me about.
    3. A document (without images) appears in my book panel with an alert icon. When I open that document via File->Open (rather than via the book panel), and run the pre-flight, there are no error messages. I don't know how to find out what the alert icon means.
    4. I am using CS3. I don't see any option for exporting the entire book to an inx file. I can use File->Export for individual files, but, as the individual files do not seem to have any error messages, I'm not sure what good this will do or what I should look at once I have the exported file...
Sorry if I'm being dense here....

  • Unbreakable Linux almost installed - wireless and up2date issues

I am trying to build a RAC/linux/iScsi test/play system and I am new to Linux. I have downloaded and installed Unbreakable Linux on 2 dualboot HP laptops with some degree of success.
    1. Wireless cards are not working. lspci shows that my broadcom hardware was recognized (but I guess I don't have the driver/packages to support them). Googling leads me to think that I will need to pursue a ndiswrapper solution, or perhaps the kernel just does not support the technology. How do I solve this? Will I need a kernel upgrade?
    2. I assume that I'll need patches/updates. The instructions at http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/htdocs/yum-repository-setup.html describe how to setup and configure up2date and a yum repository. The instructions also say that I'll need to enter an Oracle CSI number when I register and run up2date. I don't have an Oracle CSI# anymore due to a recent layoff. Any suggestions?
    3. Should I abandon just Oracle linux and switch to another distribution (i.e. Open Suse or CentOS) ?
    Thanks.

    Hi tom
    I am trying to build a RAC/linux/iScsi test/play
system and I am new to Linux. I have downloaded and
installed Unbreakable Linux on 2 dualboot HP laptops
    with some degree of success.

First you can install the driver on the wireless card cdrom.if can't ,please list the
    type of wireless card.
    2. I assume that I'll need patches/updates. The
    instructions at
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/htdocs/yum

Unfortunately. if you don't have CSI,you can't run up2date.please go to http://linux.oracle.com and click "Buy Unbreakable Linux from the Oracle Store" label.
    Thanks.
    3. Should I abandon just Oracle linux and switch to
another distribution (i.e. Open Suse or CentOS) ?
Thanks. It's needless. if you have any question about linux , please .post here.
